Correct method of disc burning of films etc.

This may not be the correct forum for this question but I am unable to find what is the best way or correct method of burning discs that can be played on a normal dvd player attached to a TV.etc.
I have tried Toast (which rejects the films as not being in the right format - they were Dvix with avi)
also DVD Remaster, FastDVD Copy, and others but each time I am unable to play on a normal dvd player.
I haven't done this much before so any help would appreciated

  • Help please - iTunes disc burner or software not found... with full troubleshooting details

In iTunes 11.1.3.8 on my Windows 8 HP Laptop, when trying to "Burn Playlist to Disc", I get the Burn Settings window "E: hp DVD A DS8A9SH", then I select MP3 CD and click "Burn", I unfortunately get the dreaded iTunes "disc burner or software not found...". I think this is the second time this has happened (first time I think a simple reboot fixed it), and I assume because iTunes was updated this issue came back again and I cannot burn MP3 cds anymore because of it!
I've followed all steps outlined in this support article "iTunes for Windows: Optical drive is no longer recognized, or "Disc burner or software not found" alert after install" (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2308)
Solution 1, no updated firmware was available for dvd drive.
Solution 2, not relevant because those files were not present when I looked for them.
Solution 3, I'm familiar with regedit and did exactly what the step by step instructions told me including rebooting multiple times to completely remove Gear drivers/keys, installing the new Gear driver files with their official setup file "For 32-bit and 64-bit systems:" from http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.php (and gave another reboot just in case) and opened iTunes at the very end of the entire process.
Still getting the dreaded "disc burner or software not found..." error when trying to burn a playlist to a CD. The weird thing is when I click Burn playlist to a CD, I see the DVD drive "E:  in the next prompt which asks for Data CD/MP3 CD, Audio CD.
So I clicked on Help > Run Diagnostics, selected "CD/DVD Drive tests" only and clicked "Next".
Window says "To begin the test, please insert a prerecorded audio cd..." so I did that and clicked "Next".
Under "Choose an optical drive to test:", the drop-down menu only shows "[Choose a Drive]", no other options. Under "Optical drive:" it says "No drive chosen for testing.", and I click the "Next" button.
Here are the diagnostics output I got:

  • What is correct method to deploy cluster aware technology using HA VMs?

    Dear all,
I recently had experience creating Hyper-V Server 2012 cluster. This allows for deploying a highly available virtual machine. That's fine. The business machine (virtual machine) becomes highly available. This includes an existing VM enabled to be highly
available or a new VM installed into cluster from scratch.
On the other hand; we have cluster aware applications (SQL Server, SCVMM etc.) which are installed in clustered OS (Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise edition which has failover clustering service) .
Just for clearing concept; what is correct way of deploying a cluster aware technology (SQL Server, SCVMM) in the scenario where the underlying OS; running in VM(s) can be made highly available.
    Method 1:
Create simple non clustered VM, install cluster aware application (SQL Server e.g.). Make this VM highly available using Hyper-V cluster.  (This seems to be clustering the VM running cluster aware application, not the cluster ware application; which
    requires clustering.)
    Method 2:
Create HA-enabled  VM onto Hyper-V Servers cluster; install cluster aware application within this HA-enabled VM.   (This again; the underlying OS/VM is clustered first, the cluster aware application (SQL server or others) how would it leverage
    the cluster?)
Please shed light on what is correct method. In both cases it seems the VM running the cluster aware application; is made highly available; meaning leveraging clustering. What about clustering the application
itself? The objective is to be able to not only make the VM highly available; but also deploy clustered SQL Server  or other cluster aware technology using such HA VM.

With SQL Server both M1 and M2 are by far the best solutions. See guest VM cluster is non-optimal as SQL Server works better with own clustering features (AlwaysOn, see link below). And HA would make VM re-boot on another physical host so there would be
both downtime and potential data loss. Run SQL Server in a pair of VMs on a different physical hosts, configue AlwaysOn (use failover SMB share as a witness) and you'll be fine. See:

  • HT1583 What blank DVD disks are compatible with burning a film from Idvd on an applemac?

I have just finalized a project in imovie and this message came up on the screen - "Your project exceeds the maximum duration. To burn your DVD, change the encoder setting in the project info window".
I have changed the encoder setting from best fit to Professional but I am having burning the film to a dvd. The computer tells me to load a dvd or my driver is busy - which it isn't it only has a blank dvd disk in it. So I was wondering whether my DVD disks are compatible with the applemac computer!
    HELP!

    Hi
So I was wondering whether my DVD disks are compatible with the applemac computer!
And if You tell - what brand and type You are trying to use - I will be so much easier !
But most often the problem is
    • Do NOT - insert the DVD disk before iDVD specifically as You to do this. As Desktop will catch it and try to format it as a Data-DVD - Not what You want (a Video-DVD) as Data-DVD can not be played on standard DVD-players.
To get it even better I do
    • Use Verbatim - Never Memorex or NoName etc cheap brands (as they don't work OK for Me)
    • DVD-R - as they play on even older DVD-players
    • Burn Speed - set down to x2 or x4 MAX ! - Best IS NOT BEST at all here !

  • Could not initialize disc burning engine???

For the last few months, any time that I try to burn a DVD I get this error.
I have tried working around the problem by burning to a folder, but PE doesn't do anything (just says 'burning to a folder' and stays on 0%).
Any ideas on why it's doing this or what I could try to do to solve the problem?
    Thanks!
    Erik

Thanks, Steve, for the info. Here's what I've done:
    1. I'm able to create a pure AVI project. I do that and then go to share to disc and get the same error ' could not initialize disc burning engine'.
    2. I am not able to burn to a folder. It acts like it will do it, but then it justs sits on 0% and does nothing.
    3. I have defragmented, cleaned-up, run antivirus, etc and still have the same problems.
I have gone through your faqs on optimizing vista, maintaining computer for best performance, etc and I'm still having this (and other problems - like the one you were previously helping me with - can't add titles without the program crashing).
The computer is an HP DV2500 with 2.0 Ghz centrino duo and 2.0 Gb RAM and 160 Gb hard drive. I've update my graphics card driver and checked for updates to the DVD burner. 20 Gb is free on the hard drive and I get these same errors for any size (even 10 second) project that I'm working on.
Is there any other further advice that you might be able to give me?
    Thanks,
    Erik

  • Disc burner or software not found error when trying to burn

everythime I try to burn I get the disc burner or software not found
    Can anyone help PLEASE

That program has NOT worked for me. I was hoping - in fact it seemed to slow down i-tunes horribly loading and caused it to hang several times.
IN the past I had this problem and had to edit a configuration file. Everything was fine until I updated, and no matter what I can't seem to get it working again.
    I've been doing this:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300403
Or trying to - the file doesn't come up nice and neatly like they would have you think - it comes up all run together, word wrap or not.
After changing that line 10 thousand ways until Sunday, with a 0, with a zero, with a carriage return, with a pipe, with a space...nothing is working!
I constantly get a error on i-tunes starting, and it still ISN'T burning.
It would be really nice IF i-tunes would provide the correct file FOR the sony CRX160E drives.
Also, I can't seem to search in these forums, that would REALLY help.

  • I am trying to burn photos onto a dvd and cd but it keeps saying disc burn error. what do i do? i have already went through 5 cps and 1 dvd.

I have been trying to get these pictures off of my computer so i want to burn them but everytime i try it says disc error. i have tried several different cds. it will say finishing burn but then eject it and says burn disc error.... please help

How are you burning the photos to the disc?  Via the Share ➙ Burn menu or buy exporting the photos to a folder on the Desktop and then burning that folder to disc?
The former method creates a mini library on the disk that can only be read and use by a Mac with iPhoto.  The latter method saves just the photos to disc which can be used by any computer.
What system and iPhoto version are you using?  How much free space do you have on your MacBook Pro?
If you're using the Share ➙ Burn method can you burn a disc from the Finder?
Describe in detail what you're trying so we have a better understanding and can better offer a solution.

  • Windows XP: Disc Burner or Software Not Found/No Supported Disc Burners

I am running Windows XP SP2 with all the latest updates on a Sony VAIO laptop. I recently upgrade to iTunes 7.3.1 and discovered that I was unable to burn audio CDs. iTunes does not recognize the CD burner in my laptop. I have other CD burning software (Sonic), and have successfully burned both an audio CD and a data CD using the software.
When I insert an audio CD, iTunes is able to recognize it and offers to import it into my library.
I searched the forums and used some suggestions from other users to revert back to the 7.2 and 7.1.1 software. The burner is still not recognized. I've even gone through the regedit exercise, removing anything related to iTunes, short of the files stored under My Music\iTunes.
I have an OEM desktop computer (Windows XP) that is also having the same problem (no disc burner found). The desktop is also able to insert an audio CD and have iTunes recognize it and offer to import it.
I would appreciate any help anyone can provide on this.

Gabrix is correct. It turned out the issue was with Daemon tools - which I had uninstalled, but which leaves nasty little drivers on your system.
Thanks for to some help from friends, I found this link: http://forums.techguy.org/multimedia/582230-problem-disc-burner-software-not.htm l which points both how to completely uninstall Daemon and how to update Daemon if you wish to keep it on your system.
I hope this helps. It's sure better than having my system reboot every time I try to run the diagnostics check.

  • When i try to burn  from library disc burner and software not found message appears

when i try to burn a disc from library the message disc burner and software not found appears.

    Hello,
I am having the same problem - "Disc burner or software not found" and I can't create a new CD from iTunes "burn playlist to disc".  I see many others asking the same question and I don't see answers.  I have spent all day uninstalling and reloading iTunes, testing, etc.  Even iTunes support said they couldn't help me.
I have Windows 7, and I can't really use iTunes without having the CD burner working.  I have wasted hours and will gladly pay for help, but iTunes support said "no".

  • Starting ColdFusion Multi-Server Instances - Correct Method

Can someone please provide me with the correct method of starting multi-server instances of ColdFusion from the command line?
    I have been using:
/<jrun4 home>/bin/jrun -nohup -start cfusion  (for the cfusion instance)
/<jrun4 home>/bin/jrun -nohup -start <coldfusion instance 2>  (for a second instance of coldfusion)
    etc.
I see however that when the second instance of coldfusion (<coldfusion instance 2>) is started from the ColdFusion Administrator (Enterprise Manager - Instance Manager), it appears as the following:
    /<jrun4 home>/bin/jrun -nohup -start -childVM <coldfusion instance 2>
What is the purpose of the -childVM switch that appears to be used when starting the instance from the ColdFusion Administrator (Enterprise Manager - Instance Manager)?  Should it be used when manually starting the instance from the command line?
Is there an online reference for the jrun swithces to be used when starting ColdFusion instances?  I have not been able to find any.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

This is one are were you won't find too many good docs on.
I have two servers running CentOS in a cluster, with each server running two CF 8.1 servers in a cluster on each server. So I have 4 CF prod servers.
The problem you will find is that the admin server interface can stop/start a service, but it uses the same jvm.config file as with thich the admin server was started. I have searched a lot, but couldn't find a solution to start the servers from the admin console. So I start them vir the "service" option on the OS level.
So I build a script were I can start each server with its own jvm.config file. Madness to allocate 1Gig of mem for the admin server just so that the other servers can get 1Gig as well.
    Here is my startup script:
    [root@clu1 logs]# cat /etc/init.d/coldfusion8multi
    #!/bin/sh
    # chkconfig: 345 90 14
    # description: starts the MultiServer cfusion instance
    if [ -f /etc/rc.common ]; then
    . /etc/rc.common
    fi
    # Start ColdFusion 8 Multiserver

  • Disc burner drive not found

When I try to burn a movie directly to a disc from iMovie, I get a message that says "No Disc Burning Drive Found. ... Please check your connections and try again." How do I do that? What might have caused the "disconnection"? I was able to burn discs before.

thanks, but rebooting/restarting, even zapping PRAM didn't help here. (+repairing permissions etc as mentioned above)
    Still stuck
