Correct two initial caps

I saw a post on this from 2010, and it seems that five years later there's still no answer?  Is there a way to correct TWo initial caps in Mail?  I know it can be done in Word, but it really should be a part of the system spell checker.
Does anyone know of any solution?
Cheers,
Allan

Hello c:
I do the same thing. As far as I HAve seen, there is no way to correct that automatically.

  • Switch off "autocorrect two initial capitals"?

With earlier versions of MacOS, the option to "correct two initial capitals" could be switched off. And that's necessary in British spelling, where plural abbreviations are common and written without an apostrophe (MPs for example, or GPs). To make matters worse, while a normal auto-correction can be undone just by backspacing, MacOS doesn't get the idea that a word can have two initial capitals — even though the word MacOS itself contains embedded capitals.
How can we switch off this option in Yosemite?

Our operating system Windows 2003 Standart Edition R2 and our db is Sql Server 2005
server has 16 gb memoryand 21 gb virtual memory,
<ES> block size is 4096 kByte.
    <ES> Info: em/initial_size_MB( 16383MB) not multiple of em/blocksize_KB( 4096KB)
    <ES> Info: em/initial_size_MB rounded up to 16384MB
If you have only 16 GB physical memory then you shouldn´t assing all to one instance. Decrease that parameter to half of it and try again.

  • Help with an initial cap issue

I'm working along with iBooks Author and found something in my way. I have an unusual font I am using for a very large initial cap at the start of each new chapter. The font is .otf and with a color box under it to make the rest of the text move "off" everything is fine.
    Except....
The font looks just like it's supposed to in landscape view, but when I check it in portrait it is not there at all. The first word of the chapter has no first letter at all in portrait view.
Is there some way around this?
    THanks for any suggestions.
Attaching image of how it does work fine in landscape.

    Hey Duane,
So basically I guess my Linksys Wireless adapter that is in the upstairs computer is compatible with the AirPort Extreme Base and I dont need to get something to replace it because it is IEEE 802.11b or 802.11g standar. So it would work with the Base if I even got rid of the Linksys Router too? My dad wants to get rid of the router because he feels the hunk of junk is a waste of space and it is constantly cutting off our connection.
I looked into what might cause interferences and we have a Microwave in the kitched (a floor above the computer) and other objects like Metal filing cabinets, and Refigerators to worry about. I guess they are somehow causing us to lose the frequencey.
So I guess I am good to go with the Linksys Wireless PCI Adapter I have upstairs. I'll go and check the box it came in and hopefully it is WiFi certified (because apparently you need a WiFi Certified card in the computers in order for the connection to be strong).
Hopefully the AirPort will work fine, and it would be better for the MacBook when I get it. Linksys is giving us problems and we want it fixed HAHA.
    Thanks again,
    Danny

  • Initial caps still missing. No, system preferences/keyboards doesn't fix the issue.

This is getting old. When will Apple fix this issue?

    Agree with fruhulda and Peter.
The hooks are in OS X to provide an Initial caps service via System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Services > Text. When tied to a unique key combination, it fails to show up in Pages v5.0.1 Services menu. I suspect that this is because Apple did not include the AppleScript Text Suite dictionary and this inhibits any specific text item functionality at this time. Not too brilliant IMHO.

I have decided to dedicate this thread to the wonderful errors of Lion OSX. Each time I find a huge problem with Lion I will make note of it here.
Today I discovered a new treasure of doggie poop in Lion. No Save As......
I repeat. No Save As. In text editor I couldn't save the file with a new extension. I finally accomplished this oh so majorly difficult task (because we all know how difficult it should be to save a file with a new extension) by pressing duplicate and then saving a copy of the file with a new extension. Yet then I had to delete the first copy and send it to trash. And of course then I have to secure empty trash because if I have to do this the rest of my mac's life I will be taking up a quarter of percentage of space with duplicate files. So this is the real reason they got rid of Save As: so that it would garble up some extra GB on the ole hard disk.
So about 20 minutes of my time were wasted while doing my homework and studying for an exam because I had to look up "how to save a file with a new extension in  mac Lion" and then wasted time sitting here and ranting on this forum until someone over at Apple wakes up from their OSX-coma.
are you freaking kidding me Apple? I mean REALLY?!!!! who the heck designed this?!!! I want to know. I want his or her name and I want to sit down with them and have a long chat. and then I'd probably splash cold water on their face to wake them up.
I am starting to believe that Apple is Satan.

  • Why is initial caps gone from Pages 5?

I just spoke with a senior Apple tech: he told me, "Mail Merge and Initial Caps are gone." He said he was told by the developers that "if enough people want those features back, they may do so."
Am I the only one that thinks this is crazy?
Come on, Apple. You can do better than this. We are talking about basic functionality here.

That is such a broad question.
What are you doing in your business?
The major requirement for any business however is that you do not lose access to your documents or have them damaged.
The answer to that question is without a shadow of a doubt: DO NOT USE APPLE FORMATS*.
Not only are they proprietary, but Apple has on multiple occassions trashed not just formats but the files that use them. WITHOUT NOTICE or APOLOGY.
Also all the new iCloud compatible file formats are bloated, fail to transfer via 3rd party servers and are in such a convoluted compressed package that to extract anything from them in an emergency is impossible.
Apple has virtually no sense, or even consideration, of continuity or awareness of their customers' needs.
Apple is extremely self centred and it is very difficult to get it to think of anyone else except as some abstract theoretical consumer who only exists in that fabled land outside Cupertino, where no-one actually goes, except on short vacations.

  • Outlook-Updates to EXISTING Calendar and Contact entries not syncing correctly - two PC's

My setup is two PC's (one at work, one at home), one BB. Both PC's Outlook are Outlook 2003, SP3. I do not use BES. I sync my BB to both PCs.
I have experiencing specific issues where updates to existing Outlook Calendar (mtg notes) and Contact (contact notes) are not being sync'd from one PC to the next PC (via my BB device - Sprint Curve 8330 running OS v4.5.0.131). I sync PC's to my BB using BB Desktop Mgr (v4.7) and USB cable.
Here are specific details of what I am doing to duplicate the issues.
    1) Calendar:
I have been away from work the past two days. In that time, I have updated two (2) calendar items at my PC at home - both items are at my work PC as well.
Item one: I moved the date from Wed to Thurs, and added a note - done from home PC
Item two: I changed the description of the meeting, and shortened appt from 3 hrs to two hrs - done from home PC
Both items sync OK with my BB
Upon coming to work this morning, neither sync'd to my work PC. I finally did the following:
Item one: I deleted from Desktop Outlook, opened in BB put a space in the meeting description saved.
Item two: Opened on BB, put a space in the meeting description saved.
Upon resyncing, here is what happened
Item one: Sync Mgr noticed conflict of deleting from PC and changed in BB. I chose to copy item to PC. This results in syncing correctly to PC
Item two: Sync'd to PC correctly.
Something is NOT right. The sync process did NOT recognize these two items that changed until I manually intervened (updating on the BB).
    2) Contact:
I ran a test today where on my work PC, I added a comment into one contact's note. I successfully sync'd that contact note to my BB. However, when I sync the BB with my home PC, that note did NOT make it to the home PC.
I opened the contact (in edit mode) on my BB, inserted a space to the contact's name, erased the space, and saved the contact.
I then sync'd the BB to the home PC again. This time, success - the contact's note got sync'd to the home PC.
    HELP
I have seen this sort of thing a few times before (where sync did not sync a Calendar event/mtg correctly) in the past three months or so I owned my BB - but this is the first time I decided to actually test out the fix. This is the first time I noticed with a contact (maybe b/c i do not look at my Contacts updates as closely as I do my Calendar mtgs updates)

    Thanks for your feedback:
2 things..... I somehow had created a duplicate calendar which may have been >blocking the sync. If you have it as well, delete this calendar and try to sync.
I have several calendars in Outlook - there is the main one which contains everything, then where I have marked certain entries as 'Personal' or as 'Anniversaries' etc a separate calendar is created with those entries in them.
Also, I read somewhere that some calendar entries will corrupt the sync of the > phone. Delete all new entries since the last successful sync and enter a test >entry and try to sync the phone. To the best of my knowledge, there is no >indication that an appointment is "bad" other than the phone will stop syncing. >So perhaps after each sync, check the phone to ensure any new entries appear.
I can't possibly tell when the last successful synch occurred! I also don't want to delete entries - I need them all!
There appears to be very little advice on this problem, hopefully this will >work.
Yes, it seems that the Great God Apple isn't anywhere as smart as it thinks it is. I am really frustrated and not a little angry. This is basic stuff for any other phone, let alone a Smart Phone!
    Thanks for your comments, though.

  • Automatic Correction for DOuble CAps typing?

Is there any way to fix DOuble CAps typing automatically on Pages (or for that matter, universally throughout the Mac)?
I remember a control panel on the classic Mac OS called SmartKeys that did exactly this. I'm not sure if they make it or something similar for OS X or not (this control panel goes way back to the days of System 7) but it would fix double caps throughout the system--not just in Word or some other word processing application. Additionally, I know Word has had this feature since at least Word 98, so I'm wondering if Pages (08) has something similar. I'm not really too concerned about functionality in other applications (which would be nice but most of the time I make double caps errors while word processing).

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Smart Keys was not an Apple-supplied Control Panel that I can recall. You might find something similar for OS X by doing a search on MacUpdate or VersionTracker. In the meantime, I suggest adjusting the key repeat rate in System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard.

  • URL with initial caps?

    HI,
Published my website : www.sowecreate.com and the urls to the pages have an initial capital letter.
    E.g : www.sowecreate.com/UK/Think.html
I cant seem to change this to lowercase and if I type the same url in lower case it comes with the following server error (xxxx is where the name of my hosting company goes) :
    *Internal Server Error*
*The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.*
*Please contact the server administrator, xxxxxxxx and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.*
*More information about this error may be available in the server error log.*
*Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.*
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

This is one of iWeb's little quirks.
You can get rid of names by typing a completely different one, saving and then reverting to the original with the changes but your way sounds a lot quicker and easier!

  • Initial caps in H/F variables

I've set H/F1 to pick up the top-level heading in the chapter, which is conventionally set with one capital letter – Chapter headings look like this
Someone is now asking for the header style where I use H/F1 to be all caps. I have a particular dislike of mixed-size capital letters, and am vaguely wondering whether [in FM 10] there is a building-block <$lowerCase> or some other nifty workaround. Just a thought!

I've stood idly by long enough<G>.
InDesign has a feature called Nested Styles. It applies named character styles (formats) within a paragraph, by obeying rules that you specify. A rule can apply a named style, or none, up to, or through, a specified number of words, characters, special characters, or non-printing characters. Then it obeys the next rule, and applies whatever, up to or through whatever, and so on. There's also a rule to repeat the last N-number of commands.
If FrameMaker had nested styles, you might be able to use it for the mixed case headers. There's no way to test it, since it doesn't exist in FrameMaker.
Here's the Catch-22: InDesign's text variables are treated as a single character - they can't wrap across line endings, and their width is fixed to the width of the text frame that contains them, so long headers can't wrap, and variables in body text can't wrap, either.
"I want what you've got." "No, I want what you've got." etc.
InDesign also has GREP paragraph stye properties that apply named character styles within the paragraph to content that matches the GREP pattern. And InDesign also has line paragraph styles - you can specify that line N within a paragraph gets a names character style; when the paragraph reflows, the N-th line's nested style does the Vegas thing - it stays in the line it's assigned to.
There's always the feature request form, eh?

  • Pages wish list

After spending time with Pages I have found somethings I feel are lacking and hope are included in future upgrades. Here are my short list of things I hope are in the next upgrade.
Page Layout Feature: Have the ability to import multiple documents in a single Pages document. I am ready to eat my words but I have checked through out the Pages manual and have not found anywhere how to insert/import multiple text documents into Pages.
    Better font handling/display in menu.
    Inclusion of end notes.
Highliting text background in your document much like Office Word 2004 pallete feature.

I mostly want basic word processing features that help me write faster and better, such as:
    1) grammar check (useful for finding extra spaces within sentences, etc.)
    2) auto correcting commonly misspelled words (such as "adn" for "and" and "thisc ould" for "this could" and correcting TWo INitial CAps of words, capitalizing the first letter of a new sentence. These are HUGE features for me because they allow me to bang away faster at the keyboard.
    3) thesaurus
    but I'd also love this:
    4) password protection for a single document would be great.
    5) ability to integrate with a database (like AppleWorks does) and generate form letters and sheets of LABELS.
If I had these five abilities, I'd dump Word unceremoniously.
Do others see the merits in these? They seem so basic to me - especially number 2. Everyone would benefit from these, from newsletter layout people to housedads doing recipes in the kitchen.
Number 5 would be useful for many small office / home office users. You've created a flyer. Now can Pages create a mailing??? No. I design the flyer in pages, and the mailing labels must be in Word.

  • No grammar check?

I like pages and find it has yet to crash - something Word for Mac does all the time when I'm using it. However, I'm really frustrated by the spell check (seems very limited and doesn't pick up as many mistakes as Word in my view) and the fact there is no grammar check option.
At the moment, I am exporting my documents as a Word file, simply to do a grammar and spell check (as this tool is far superior in Word) and then opening it back up in Pages and saving it as a Pages file again. Does anybody know of any plan to improve this or a faster work around? Seems quite a basic thing to me!
Also, why are pages preferences so limited?
Silly question I know - but it's been bugging me!
    Ant

    Hi Ant-
There's simply no grammar check. I'm not sure how you think the Word spell checker is better, but if you think it is... fine.
With Pages I have grown accustomed to being a slightly more careful typist (such as NOt DOing TWo INitial caps, or capitalizing the beginnings of sentences). Word fixes these things with auto correct, but at the cost of making me use an extremely crashy Microsoft application.
Word's grammar may help for some things, but cannot be relied on. This article describes some problems with Word's grammar checker:

  • Word Autocomplete

I need to disable AutoComplete enterprise wide (Word 2010>File>Options>Advanced>Editing Options>Show AutoComplete Suggestions) but there doesn’t appear to be a GPO setting to do this
and I can’t find a registry key. Does anyone know if/where this setting is stored in the registry? Or some other way to disable it?

There are group policy settings for these in Word, I can only assume this is because people may want different settings for 'real' word processing than the bits of text editing in the rest of Office.
There don't seem to be any equivalent "non-policy" keys The equivalent paths to policy settings are below, but it would be easier to set these through domain or local security policies than through registry changes.
