Correct video adapters

I have a graphics card that has one dvi out put and one duel dvi out-put. I need to use the dvi for a monitor for the computer, and the dual dvi for a projector. the thing is I need to use an s-video cable to the projector. What is the best way to set this up?

I am pretty sure none of the graphics cards that came with the G5 could drive video out of their ports. While they are certainly capable of it, Apple never added that feature to the software driver for the graphics cards, therefore it is not enabled.
Doesn't the projector have a VGA input? Most do. A DVI to VGA adapter should work in that case.

  • Premiere Pro CS5.5 Not Showing Correct Video in Sequence - URGENT

I have been working on a film that I need out by next Wednesday and for some reason Premiere is showing the WRONG videos in the timeline/viewer.  I have done numerous edits in After Effects via Adobe Dynamic Link.  It replaces other video with random clips I've done edits to in After Effects via Adobe Dynamic Link instead of the correct video file, either edited in After Effects via Dynamic Link or just a plain video clip without editing in After Effects.  This is extremly frustrating in that I have to have the film out by next week and this has never happened before!  Any response is welcome!!

when I try to open a changed name comp in After Effects, it automatically directs me to another project and I didn't even click open
Do you have multiple AE projects that contain comps with the same name?  For example: Project01 contains comp01, and Project02 also contains comp01?  If so, you'll have to sort that out as well.  Give the projects and the comps in them unique names if they will all be used in the same Premiere Pro project.
Consider using a single AE project that contains all your linked comps -- it will make the Replace With After Effects Composition command in Pr less useful, but it may help simplify and organize things overall.
Once all of your AE projects and comps are re-named, you may have to go through your Pr project and manually re-link all of the AE comps.  Maybe I shouldn't have said "everything will sort itself nicely".

  • Apple Video Adapters

Do the adapters Apple sells to drive the screen image on an external monitor provide sound as well? I'd like to set up my MBP to display on my TV for movies/shows/etc., but how do I get the sound to go through my TV's (or better yet, my receiver's) speakers?
    Thanks,
    sarah
Also, I have an HDTV that's a couple of years old. Which video adapter should I get (assuming the adapter has a sound out function)?

The DVI output on the MPB does not carry audio. To get the audio to your TV or receiver you need to plug into the audio out (headphone) jack of your MBP. You can get a basic 1/8" stereo-to-RCA cable to connect to a line in on your TV or receiver. Or, if your receiver supports digital input you can connect a digital audio cable (the MBP audio out supports both analog and digital output).

  • Correct video encoding settings to play on ipad?

Here's the settings that my dvd ripper (iskysoft) used to convert a home movie DVD to an "apple TV" format file
    file type: .mp4
    format: xvid
    resolution: 512 x 384
    frame rate: 24
    bit rate 1500
This file plays fine on the apple tv and itunes, but not on my ipad. It will sync and transfer but when I try to play it on the ipad the video is all messed up.
I tried using the "convert to apple tv/ipad format" but itunes said it was already in the correct settings.
What specific setting do I need to use to convert this file so it will play on my ipad?

    These are the required specs.
    http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/
H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format.
I use HandBrake which includes default Apple product settings such as iPod with Video, iPhone, Apple TV, and it includes a Universal setting.
Some have reported that using the Handbrake Apple TV setting works, but some have reported it doesn't. I haven't read any reports about the HandBrake Universal setting not working with the iPad.

  • Finding the correct video driver

I recently replaced my pavilion dv6 3240ca mainboard with a new one that I purchased online. The difference between the two main boards are the factory board(3240ca) had a hd radeon 6370m and 4250(switchable). The new board purchased (mainboard #631082-001) uses HD radeon 6550m with the same energy saving 4250.
I am not sure which model the new board came from. In BIOS  have found the Product number to be #XB531EA#ABU if that helps determining the model. Also the AMD phenom II N870 processor swapped over as both boards have the same s1 socket.
Basically when I attempt to install a driver from another dv6 3XXX series notebook(tried 3286ca graphics driver as I found out it has the 6550m/4250 combo), the AMD installer prompts windows update which detects HD radeon 5650m.
5650m is not the correct graphics card however the two are closely related. The main difference being 6550m supports directX 11 and 5650m does not. Would like to install the correct driver for my graphics card, so is there a way around windows update insalling the wrong driver??

OK so I just plugged the Product #XB531EA#ABU into search and support and it brought up model dv6-3031sa... which actually has HD5470m!!
Is it even possible for a HD 5650m driver to work for an HD5470m GPU?
When I check systeminfo and then tried Video Memory Stress Test, both show HD radeon 5650m with 1gb of dedicated memory. The HD5470m only has 512mb of memory, but Video Memory Stress Test shows the GPU using the full gigabyte of graphics memory....
Ughh this is confusing. What can I do that will help determine for sure which system board and GPU I have??

  • Color corrected video washed out by font / graphics

    Hi everyone-
I'm running FCP 4.1.1 on a Mac dual G4. I have some DV clips on the timeline which I adjusted using the brightness / contrast function of the Color Correction tool. When I lay font or graphics over it, the clips get all washed out, and look more like the original clips. After rendering, the Viewer tells me that the video clips are still brightness / contrast adjusted, even though they're not. When I remove the font / graphics, they look as I intended (adjusted).
I used these same graphics on other video clips and they worked fine. It seems to be an issue with the adjusted clips.
    Can anyone help? Thanks.
    Mac dual G4   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

what color is the render bar above these problem clips?
it may be that with these graphic overlays applied then you are seeing only a proxy or preview of the final effect and not a full render
if so, check your Sequence > Render settings and make sure to check the Preview and/or Proxy options
    cheers

  • Color Correcting Video

I have a completed video that I made in iMovie. I'd like to know if it's possible to use photoshops color correcting abilities for my completed video.
I know how to alter color in photoshop, but I don't know how to make a seperate color adjustment for each micro clip within the completed video. I can only get it to apply my color adjustments to the whole video, not just the section that I wanted edited.
    I hope that makes sense
    Thanks in advance!

I think I answered my own question. I had to drag (as in editing) each adjustment layer to the part of the video that I wanted adjusting. I uneded up having a lot of adjustment layers...

  • Unable to Export Color Corrected Video's to Original format for AVCHD (GH2) and ProRES Codecs.

I imported a 176 MBPS AVCHD clip from my GH2 into Lightroom 4, then i added color presets to the video and color corrected the video, however during export when i select the video format as original the color correction does not apply to the video, only the original video is saved, But when i select H.264 or DPX the video is saved with the effects applied. I also tried using a AVCHD clip converted to Apple ProRES but when i export the video the effects are not applied to the saved video. Also the option i get for saving H.264 files is only 22 MBPS.

Original, whether for photos or video, means "unedited".  Bear in mind that this isn't intended for high-end video editing - just simple edits for digitial photographers.  It won't replace your video editing software anytime soon, if ever.

  • Correct video File Format ?

    I have a mixture of video files - mp4 and m4v.
Which is the correct format to play on an iTouch?

The following video file formats are supported by iPod touch:

    MPEG-4 (Simple Profile)
H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

  • DVI - video adapters

    Hi
I´m about to upgrade a MacPro to use in a multiscreen live video environment. Unfortunately, the standard in this business is Composite video, not DVI or VGA, so I need to convert the output from multiple video cards to Composite video.
I want one DVI output for my main screen and 3 Composite outputs for my video screens.
I read somewhere that the DVI-Video adapter won´t work on DVI Output 1 on the x1900.
If I pop another x1900 in the MacPro, to drive two projectors via a DVI-video adapter and a composite cable, will that be possible? Or will I have to run a DVI cable from Output 1 and a DVI-video adapter only on Output 2?
I hope my english is good enough to explain my problems here.

Are you looking to play 3 different screens with different content from one computer?
I guess you would have multiple DVI outs.....on each DVI out, use a DVI to VGA converter like:
    http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=1309
...and then on each of those use a VGA to composite converter like:

  • Video adapters to HDMI TV

I'm technically inept, so bear with my less than technically phrased question. I am trying to figure out which adaptor to buy to link my MacBook (2010) to my TV screen. The TV is a Samsung DV3 HD Ready 1080 P, product model LE32A558P3FXXC. The Apple store recommended the iWires Mini Display Port to HDMI Cable (in a green and white box). I plugged the adapter into the HDMI IN 1 node on the back of TV, and into the Macbook. The screen on the TV came on in a screen saver mode, but I couldn't seem to get any video to play. Am I missing something (do I have to enable the adaptor for instance) or do I have the wrong adaptor? Any advice appreciated!

You need to use your TV remote to change the input from your cable to the HDMI port you are using on the back of the TV. On the computer once the link with the TV is active you need to open Display prefs and select the Mirrored mode so the TV and the computer will have the same image. Be sure you do not set the computer's display resolution beyond what the TV can display. For 1080P this is 1680 x 1080.
For additional help select Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and search for "connect to TV hdmi." You will find several useful articles listed.

  • The new MacBook Pro 15" -- video adapters fry computer?

So, I haven't been able to find anything on this online yet, and I could well be wrong, so proceed with care and let me know if this is debunked, and I'll edit appropriately.
I was at J&R World (New York) earlier today, to buy a VGA adapter for my brand new MacBook Pro 15". Not knowing which kind I needed, I asked the guy, but when he went to get one for me, they were missing that adapter, and only that one. He checked the computer, and it said they were in stock, but before it could be resolved, the store closed.
So I go to the Apple Store in Soho, and having already forgotten which "mini-" or "micro-" thingie I needed, I ask again. And thank goodness. The guy asks me which computer I have, and I tell him the Macbook Pro. The new one? Brand new. Hmm, he says, let me check, they're changing those adapters. I'm a bit puzzled about what that means, especially since I can see all the types sitting on the shelf right there. He comes back. What size do you have again? 15 inch. ****, he says, the other sizes are okay, but there's a problem with the newly updated 15" Macbook Pros. A problem? I say. But it's brand new! Yeah, he says, something is wrong, I don't know what technically, they're fixing it in the adapters. So, I ask, doesn't that mean there's something wrong with the computer, then? Anyway, he hems and haws, and says something about the old adapters frying the computer, that it only affects the brand new 15" models, and that it seems to be related to the sound card. I asked him when the new adapters would be in, but he didn't know. Only after I left did I think about the fact that they appear to still be selling the old ones to anyone who knows enough not to ask.
This obviously requires corroboration, but it seems like a pretty serious problem to me if there are a lot of the old adapters out there already. I don't want to live in fear that, even if I get a new one, I need to have it with me always (often projectors in our department have adapters in the bag with them), and that if I mix it up with someone else's, it may fry my computer! Also, surely it must mean there's something wrong with my new Macbook Pro -- and after the (literally) 12 things that went wrong with my old Macbook, I'm pretty wary.
Anyone else heard this? Any Apple Store workers who can corroborate? If it's false, I'll happily erase this, but the odd behavior at J&R and the confidence of the Apple Store clerk make it seem pretty solid -- I'm just surprised I can't find any info online.

Given that the folx at the retail store usually know "less" about emerging issues than here in the discussions, just the fact that they have any information at all would make me wary about picking up an adapter, warranty or not. For example, after being told that, if you had asked about the SATA issue, you'd have likely gotten a blank stare or a "Whuh?" So, there's some information that they THINK is reliable (that they may have misinterpreted, of course) that says there's a chance to fry the new 15 inch MBP. It may be an outside case, it may only be related to hooking up to some older specific model of monitor, etc., but it's out there.
I'd play it cautious and check the store again in a day or so to see if they have the same story. Better to make sure and not have any questions raised on your warranty return than to have your computer blow up on you in the middle of something you worked hard to create. Sure, you get a new computer, but, at the moment it's fried, you likely lose what you're working on.

  • W520 Video adapters

Finally got my w520. I love it. 16Gb ram, 80gb ssd boot drive + 500 gb data drive. Fantastic.
I have a question though. Seems I have 2 video cards. The Nvidia 2000m that I ordered and some sort of Intel onboard HD video card. In the Lenovo toolbox it only lists the intel HD device andno other. In device manager it lists both. And in the Nvidia control panel it the display adapter is set to "integrated graphics".
    Does anyone else have this?
Can anyone explain where my "High performance" card went to? or whats going on?
    Thanks!

That's the new NVidia Optimus technology. It's there to provide both battery life and performance.
