Correct way to process expediting fee on PO?

Hi,
We have users that want to add an expediting fee from a vendor as a separate line on a purchase order, but then we can not perform goods receipt because there is no material associated with the line.
Can anyone help with correct process for this?  We don't want to just add expediting fee to base price of material because it will throw off our material cost.
Thanks for any ideas.
Timothy

Hi,
You can create a condition type for  expediting fee and used for vendor  expediting fee in your purchase order.
When ever, your vendor have  expediting fee, you can enter value to that condition type or else, keep value as ZERO.
Based on your business requirement, you can add this  expediting fee to material price or you can post your  expediting fee to separate G/L account.
Refer similar requirement for posting of a pricing element with different options:

  • Correct Way To Process?

    hi, i'm just after a bit of advice on how to correctly adjust my RAW files...
    before 1.5, i used all the tools except the 'Levels' tool to do an image due to it's slowness, but now it works fine and works in real time.
    my question is, are you meant to adjust Exposure, Sat, Contrast etc.. and then use the levels tool? is this why they are in that order?
    silly question, but thanks in advance...

    Aperture doesn't have re-orderable adjustment layers as does Photoshop. The adjustment layers within a version are pre-ordered (sharpen is last for example), but you could create different versions to create a true ordering.
    Using the check box to validate the effect of the adjustment is similar to switching an adjustment layer visibility off/on.
    I haven't seen any reason to date to consider the order of the adjustments, since there are no blending modes, masks etc.

  • I have a macbook air late 2010 and keep getting a warning that my hard drive is full and to delete things so I purchased a external hard drive (1TB) but I'm just not sure what the correct way to transfer and store files to the external drive is. First MAC

    I purchased a macbook air about 5 months ago and lately i keep recieving a warning that the hard drive or disk is full and that I will need to move items to trash in order to free up space on it. I purchased a external hard drive 1 TB but I'm very new to mac and ios and unsure as to how I'm suppose to transfer my files (video, pics, music etc.) from my mac over to the external hard drive in the correct way so I won't end up deleting them permenately or screwing anything up with my mac as far as the applications and programs being able to run. Am I supposed to just copy to the external hard drive and then move to and empty the trash? That's pretty much all I could come up with, but then what if i need or want to access that file again at a later time. Also, I have an i Phone and i pad so with i cloud it automatically syncs all my purcheses and if i delete something from itunes on my mac it deletes from my ipad.
    I'd appreciate any kind of input i think im just a little lost here. I have to say i love my Mac and wouldn't trade it for anything (except maybe a macbook pro w/more memory)... Is there something I'm missing???

    To free up hard drive space the best bet is to move data files that you don't need access to all the time. Likely candidates are music, video, and photos. Things like word processing and spreadsheet files can also be moved but they tend not to be very large and so don't free up much space. The problem with moving the above mentioned files is that iTunes and iPhoto need to know where the files are stored.
    Here's an article explaining how to move the iTunes folder. You can move the iPhoto library using the Finder but there is a slight complication. Start iPhoto, open the Preferences and click on the Advanced tab. The first option is "Copy items to the iPhoto Library". If this option is checked, copy the iPhoto library to your external folder (drag it from the Pictures folder to your external drive) and then delete it from your Picture folder. If this option is not checked, it is a bit more complicated and we'll need to talk a bit.

  • Correct way to restore from Time Machine backup - Lion clean install

    I did a clean install of Lion, and am wondering — what's the correct way to restore files in my Home folder to my new installation?
    For example, I simply dragged over my iTunes folder from the "Latest" Time Machine backup.
    Perhaps instead I should restore from the backup differently? For example, open the ~/Music folder, then open Time Machine.app, and restore that folder through that?
    I always thought that manually dragging the "Latest" backup from the disk should do the trick the same way? Or an important question is — can some files be somehow excluded?
    I did everything through dragging, and haven't noticed problems... BUT, perhaps I should go back and re-do everything the "right" way if there is one?
    (I purposefully avoided doing a Restore, as I didn't want any of the caches, Applications and Library items restored — wanted to start fresh.)

    For convenience mostly. I use the Terminal a lot so I have lots of "dot files" that are at the root of my home directory and hidden.
    One problem is that many of those programs have data in Music, Photos, etc all organized by databases somewhere in ~/Library. You have to make sure to get them re-joined. It can be done. You just have to be careful with it. If you lose your iPhoto archive in the process, the first thing someone is going to ask is why didn't you use Migration Assistant.
    Until recently, I performed all my major MacOS X upgrades using this manual procedure and, for me, the extra hassle was worth the cleanliness. I have lost a couple of software registration codes that I couldn't ever get back. C'est la vie. I would keep my old Library folder around for quite some time until I was sure I wouldn't need anything out of it. These days, I'm too busy and too lazy. I just use one of the automatic methods.

  • How to Charge Macbook pro unibody? correct way

    Hi there, I have a question. just bought my Macbook pro unibody last week.
    I want to know how to charge Macbook pro the correct way ?
    When im working. should I charge all the time ? I should wait until the battery drain 10% left ?
    When is the best time to charge the battery 75%,50% or less that 10% ?
    Should I turn off asap when the charger once the green light turn on ? should I leave overcharge ? normally I charged mac at night which more than 8 hour charge , is this good ?
    Thanks guys.

    Here is apple's instructions in calibrating the battery KB Article
    As for leaving it plugged in, that's the normal process most people do, there is circuitry in the computer to ensure the battery does not get over charged. Aside from calibrating it, I'd avoid any deep cycles, that is draining it completely, you're better off plugging it in when you have the opportunity and not wait until the battery is nearly drained. Deep cycles can shorten the life span of the battery.

  • Correct Way to Look at ROWID value

    I found some sql and modified it that is suppose to allow you to look at the ROWID info of a table
    Can someone tell me why this does not work and what would be the correct way to get the info based on the ROWID ?
    Evertyime I generate the ROWIDs and try to enter one into the second SQL statement, I get nothing back

    prompt ******************
    prompt V$Session/DBA_Objects - Create RowIDs
    prompt ******************
    prompt
    select

    Hi Miguel
    well i am using thread based processes into oracle and some of my users are getting CGI timeouts or else getting tired of waiting and trying to do the same task again through my web app so they try it again causing a lock problem
    I can see what is being locked down to the table but i wanted to know what data is being locked when trying to get updated, so i thought i could use the ROWID to look at the entry

  • Which is the correct way to program a Desktop Application???

    Hello all,
    I haven't programmed in a while and I just got the free Netbeans 6.1 CD just for kicks and to try it out. I'm making a basic application for a store that one of my family members has. I was programming away as I could and right now I came to a conclusion... I think I maybe doing this wrong.
    I have done all the GUI using the Netbeans IDE plugin visual designer and I just click on the button and add the event and then I program away. But just right now I noticed another file that is called NameOfProgramApp.java. Then I look to the right and I have NameOfProgramView.java where I have been placing most of my code. Is this the right place to put the code???
    I think I maybe missing something or maybe doing some lousy code writing. Any help would be awsome. Is this where I put my Object Oriented think hat on to accomplish the correct way??
    Thanks in advance and it feels good to be back :D

    A general rule of thumb that I use it to think in layers...
    --GUI {What you show the use}
    --GUI code logic {local rules and edits}
    --WEB/Network {interface for multiuser}
    --BUSINESS RULES {rules and coding to make your business work}
    --DATABASE {where do you store your durable data}
    Granted, this is a very simplistic look, but it will get you a start a thinking process for your app.

  • What is the correct way to format file paths and names in the structapp file?

    I am trying to create a structured application to export fm files as xml, and probably read the xml back to fm.
    In the structured application file (structapp), I need to specify the locations of the various files (DTD, read/write, template, etc). I would like to place these files on a shared server so others can use the same structapp file (that is, a cop of it). What is the correct way to format the file paths and names? Can folders folder names and file names have spaces in them? I tried the following, for example:
    \\serverName\shareName\folder 1\folder 2\file name.dtd
    I use the same format for the template file and the read/write rules file.
    When I try to save an fm file to xml, FrameMaker says that it cannot read the DTD; however, the resulting xml file appears to be well-formed. The DOCTYPE element in the resulting xml is formatted with forward slashes and spaces replaced with %20.
    I tried using forward slashes and replacing spaces with %20, but then I get an error about reading the read/write rules.
    NOTE: I have another structured application to read xml into fm. This application does not have a DTD file. The template and read/write rules files are specified as above. Except for complaining about a lack of a DTD, the application works fine; it even applies an XSLT in the process. Again, when I DO add a DTD to this latter application, I get the same complaint about not being able to read the DTD.
    I am using fully patched FrameMaker 9 in Windows XP.
    Thanks,
    Van

    Hi Van,
    The XML parser and FrameMaker are not the same thing. The Error Log says which component created which message. The XSL processor is another option that can throw messages. The "\\server\path\some.dtd" syntax in structapps.fm seems to be fine for some tools, as Internet Explorer with XML tools successfully finds the DTD which appears as "//server/path/some.dtd" in the XML. But apparently Xerxes, the XML parser bundled with FrameMaker, does not like this notation.
    If you have a path with a drive letter, "H:\path\some.dtd", FrameMaker turns that into "file:///H:/path/some.dtd". It seems, Xerces would like to see "file:/" in front of absolute paths.
    This is what I have in structapps.fm:
    Template: \\server\path\projecttemplate.fm
    DTD: some.dtd
    Read/write rules: \\server\path\projectrules.txt
    DOCTYPE: …
    Entity locations
      Entity search paths
        1: \\server\path\
    In the structapps.fm I have the DTD without path information. The resulting XML (without XSL postprocessing) then contains just the file name with a relative path back to the book folder (when saving a book as XML). It therefore requires the DTD to be available at this place. I handle this using an event script that fires for NotePreSaveXml and copies the DTD to the folder of the original document.
    As I always use XSL postprocessing and using XSLT1 it is not possible to have the doctype-system as a parameter I have this in my XSL stylesheet:
    <xsl:output doctype-system="some.dtd" />
    For the resulting XML the DTD is expected to be in the same folder as the XML file. This is handled by the same event script as above, it therefore copies the DTD to the source and the target folder.
    Bottom line: If you want/have to use UNC paths, you have to do some programming to work around a FrameMaker bug.

  • Correct way (if any) in paragraphs

    If I have a paragraph of type, ranged left (example below) set out with no widows/orphans etc but I have a word starting on its own, what is the correct way to solve this? Start a new paragraph or leave it on its own? Sometime when i do this I get a lot of space that looks wrong.
    example:
    ...for example researcher, recorder. They
    build the table...
    Hope this makes sense.
    thanks in advance

    Jacob's correct in saying -

    As Herb says.
    Whether you use Justify (Full Lines) or Align Left (there may be different terms in different applications), normally you just let the type/text flow over the lines as they may fit, with or without hyphens, regardless of sentences/full stops.
    But, (isn't there always a but) there is a stylistic case to be made for avoiding line breaks that potentially 'trick the reader's eye.' We tend to read text a line at a time unless there are lines longer than we can process in a single pass. You can follow this link to see a sample article on the subject.
    http://baymard.com/blog/line-length-readability
    The reading and comprehension process can also be interrupted when the 'topic' changes abruptly, especially at the beginning or end of a line. This includes lines that break after a short word at the beginning of sentence, like A, I, O (rare), At, By, etc. You can probably think of several more examples. I'd also include The (as in the original post) as it can be the very devil to proof-read correctly.
    Consider this snippet:
    He was a tall man with a military bearing which he threw in the air and caught. The
    the example here comes from that especially enchanting book, 'Puckoon' written by
    Spike Milligan.
    Many readers will fail to pick up the repeated 'The the', and some spelling checkers get confused by the different capitalization. So, its probably better set (using a 'hard space' to force the issue) as:
    He was a tall man with a military bearing which he threw in the air and caught.
    The example here comes from that especially enchanting book, 'Puckoon' written
    by Spike Milligan.
    As for A, I, etc -- the isolated letter just looks daft.
    In summary, the rule is that there are no rules. Type should both look right and flow right, so the reader's brain isn't distracted by the visual anomalies.

  • Correct way to pass pointers around labview

    Hello,
    what is the correct way to pass pointers, pointing to DLL allocated memory around labview ?
    I have been for quite some time using the standard C type cast working as:
    typedef struct
    void *mem;
    } myVars;
    int InitMyVars(int64_t *myVarsLVPtr)
    void *myVarsPtr = NULL;
    myVarsPtr = malloc(sizeof(myVars));
    if(myVarsPtr)
    *myVarsLVPtr = (int64_t)myVarsPtr;
    return 0;
    return -1;
    int UseMyVars(int64_t *myVarsLVPtr)
    void *myVarsPtr = NULL;
    myVarsPtr =(void*)*myVarsLVPtr;
    //return funcWithVars(myVarsPtr);
    Afterwards configure the library call nodes as follows:
    And pass the pointer around in labview as an 64 bit number (since it is a pointer value, I think it does not make difference if its signed or unsigned, please facepalm me if wrong)
    This way is very ugly. I do not like it. Found several discussions stating that "Every time someone writes a code like int tmp = (int)(&something); a little fluffy kitten chokes to death. Unfortunately, programming so far had been quite a felinicide." This makes me a serial kittenchoker.
    It is also dangerous, for different platforms eg. i686 and x86_64.
    I was self learning all this stuff, now looking back at it, it feels like I missed something big time.
    There must be a better way.
    I am thankful for suggestions.
    Solved!

    Lines 12 and 21 in the 1st post
    *myVarsLVPtr = (int64_t)myVarsPtr;
    myVarsPtr =(void*)*myVarsLVPtr;
     Sorry, but I cannot see how are my examples inconsistent, I only supplied one. I know it consists of 2 images and some code, but still describes the same process.
    nathand wrote:
    There is no need for LabVIEW to know whether a wire contains a pointer or a number - either way, it's just a number. There are many situations in which the Call Library Function Node configuration does NOT match the function prototype, but you get the correct result.
    You allways have to match the function prototype, if you do not, you corrupt memory. I guess you mean, that the function prototype may be written different, as long as the datatypes and memory layout is the same.
    nathand wrote:
    One such situation is when the wire contains an address. In that case, even though the function prototype specificies that the parameter is a pointer, in LabVIEW you should configure that parameter to be passed BY VALUE because the value on the wire already is a pointer. Does that make sense? In your example code, you have essentially created a handle, because the myVars data type contains a pointer. Your C code can move around the memory pointed to by myVars.mem as much as it wants, so long as the pointer to myVars stays constant. I'm assuming that's what you're doing; is that correct?
    If you pass a variable into DLL "by value", it does exactly what it says, it passes the value. Means, if you want to change the value going through the wire, you cant, you just get the value of it to the function stack. You can assign new value to such value inside DLL, but LabView will still keep the same value in its wire, since it only passed value. Its confusing, I know.
    Imagine 1 guy thinking a number, he tells it to his neighbourgh, so they both know what the number is. But if the second guy wants to change it, he cant, ho only knows the value.
    If the guy 1 passes a position of such information in his brain, guy 2 can read the number and if he modifies it, guy 1 will think of the new number. However guy 2 cannot move the position.
    I am not creating a Handle by making a pointer to a pointer. First, handle can be quite anything, that is used to identify an object of some use. I know LabView calls Handles the pointers to memory pointers pointing at some LabView datatype. The value in the wire, as you correctly stated, is a place in a memory, the fact, that I pass it to DLL in a "pointer style" manner, does not mean I intend to create pointer to it, I just want to know the place in memory, where LabView keeps such value, so I am able to modify it in cases it changes (inside DLL, my DLL is guy 2 and labview is guy 1).
    Pointer to a memory in heap tells the computer where the memory is. You cannot move a memory and still have the same pointer.
    nathand wrote:
    If so, then again, in LabVIEW you should be passing the pointer by value. I think this will avoid the dereference cast that's bothering you. As you have it now, you are adding an unnecessary extra layer of reference (LabVIEW is passing a pointer to an address, rather than the address itself), which you then need to cancel out with the cast that you don't like.
    I cannot avoid type cast in LabView, since you are LabView limited. I am trying to avoid casting a pointer to integer.
    There is a reason why pointer is of datatype pointer. It is platform specific, it can be flat number or something more complex, so anytime I make a number from a pointer, it is risky, I am mixing apples and bananas + the kitten chokes.
    Thank you for answer.

  • What is the CORRECT way to sync with Palm device?

    Under Tiger, do you still need to open the iSync app before syncing with a Palm device? (mine is a Sony Clie SJ22).
    I used to have to sync in this order:
    1. open the iSync app
    2. click "Sync Now" in .Mac Sync in the menu bar
    3. press the Hotsync button on my Clie.
    It worked.
    But I just found this support doc:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302120
    which says: "To sync your Palm OS device with iSync, press the HotSync button on the Palm cradle, cable, or the device itself. Both HotSync and iSync should open during the synchronization. Note: You must initiate the sync from the Palm device or the device will be skipped during the iSync sync."
    I'm confused. I tried doing it this way and iSync does NOT open automatically when I press the Hotsync button--but the .Mac status in the Menu bar is turning to show it's syncing, and my ical items SEEM to be getting updated.
    Can someone help clarify how this is supposed to work? Is this new in Tiger 10.4.4?

    The correct way to synchronize a Palm device using iSync 2 or later is to first insure that all three options in the General section or your iSync Preferences… dialog are enabled:
    √ Enable syncing on this computer
    √  Show HotSync reminder when syncing Palm OS devices
    √ Show status in menu bar
    The each time your synchronize, you should launch iSync. [Or, alternatively, you should have it launched at login and hidden, so that it is running each time you press your HotSync button.]
    The article is mistaken about the HotSync Manager needing to be launched prior to initiating a synchronization, as that task is accomplished whenever you press the HotSync button on your cable or cradle, or otherwise initiate a synchronization event.
    It is true that you must initiate it from the Palm device, a cable or a cradle. Selecting Sync Now from beneath the Sync Status item in your menu bar will not launch the HotSync process, and your Palm device will be skipped.
    These are substantial changes to iSync, which came with the release of iSync 2 and .Mac Sync under Mac OS X 10.4 about seven months ago, and they are a giant step backward for Palm users.
    For that, and many other reasons - including the instability and lack of reliability with iSync 2 and later, I suggest that you take a look at the Missing Sync for Palm OS from Mark/Space:
    http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_palmos.php
    It goes a long way toward addressing the long-term short comings of the iSync Palm Conduit by replacing it with three Mark/Space conduits - Contacts, Events and Tasks - and make synchronization of your Palm device a single-button process once again. It circumvents iSync and deactivates the iSync Palm Conduit and the HotSync Manager, eliminating three troublesome components that are a part of your current configuration. Your SONY Clié PEG-SJ22 is one of the many models supported by this package.

  • Need the complete and correct way to reset Safari 5.1

    Need the complete and correct way to reset Safari 5.1 the reason being is that 1. Even with the fix for .pdf's opening in Sarfai, they still don't and I have local copy of a html file that I use to access my most frequent sites and it refuses to open when Safari loads.
    I need to know what to save so that I can reinstall it after the reset. I don't want to lose my cookies and passwords that I have saved.

    Well I went back to one of my old discussions from a few months ago and found the right way to reset Safari but also dicovered that the file that my other older Mac had the same problem with, were I could'nt load a .pdf file into Safari as well as play video files, like the one that Apple posted of the Stve Job's tribute yesterday.QuickTime would'nt load so this morning  got my act together and took each file that I thought might be corrupt out till I found the one that was, having to restart Safari and shut it down.
    the file in the
    Home/Library/Preferences>com.apple.Safari.plist was the culprit. I am now trying to find a way to see how one can tell if this file is corrupt before backing it up, since "plists" are not a file to mess with.
    I hate resetting Safari since it destroys a bunch of files that one builds up over a long period of time, and hate to destroy all that work just because of one file. Hopefully if someone reads this they can find a way of having Safari back it up on a on going basis but making sure it is'nt corrupt in the process.

  • What is the correct way to set up a new Mac

    A friend of mine recently migrated from Windows and bought himself an iMac. He got the local Apple store to set up his iMac and migrate his data from his Windows to his iMac. I was  recently helping him set up a few a additional things on his iMac and was supprised to see how the Apple store had set up the machine.
    There was only one account set up on the iMac and all of the user data had been loaded into this admin account. Now I've only been a Mac user for about 5 years, but I was always taught create an admin account with no data on it and then set up a separate user account(s) which contain all the user data and these are used by the users to log in.
    Now my question is who is right the Apple shop or me? I would e intertested to hear any experts views on the correct way to set up an OSX machine.

    Both of you. Either way is acceptable. However, for a single user machine there's really no need to have more than the admin account.

    The program doest enterpret my figures from the text file in the correct way since the numbers contain dots instead of commas. Is there a way to fix this in labVIEW, or do I have to change the files before reading them in the program? Thanks beforehend!

    You must go in the labview option menu, you can select 'use the local
    separator' in the front side submenu (LV6i).
    If you use the "From Exponential/Fract/Eng" vi, you are able to select this

  • What is the correct way to add styling to drag-and-drop created calendars?

    I have a working instance of a rich client calendar. I generated the view with the required fields (start, stop, provider, ...), put it into the App Module, and dragged it onto a JSF page to create a calendar.
    Next I created an activityScope object in a class called CalendarBean (no inheritance)
    Class CalendarBean()
    private HashMap<Set<String>, InstanceStyles> activityColorMap;
    +..+
    +public CalendarBean() {+
    super();
    activityColorMap = new HashMap<Set<String>, InstanceStyles>();
    HashSet setEd = new HashSet<String>();
    HashSet setLen = new HashSet<String>();
    setEd.add("Work");
    setLen.add("Home");
    activityColorMap.put(setEd, CalendarActivityRamp.getActivityRamp(CalendarActivityRamp.RampKey.ORANGE));
    activityColorMap.put(setLen, CalendarActivityRamp.getActivityRamp(CalendarActivityRamp.RampKey.RED));
    +}+
    +}+
    Next, I linked this up as a backing bean and associated the ActivityStyles of CalendarBean to it:
    +#{backingBeanScope.calendarBean.activityColorMap}+
    I populated some records in the database with properties "Work" and "Ed', but they show default blue.
    As I understand it, I need to do something with the getTags() method of the underlying CalendarActivity class, but I'm not quite sure how to do that.
    Took a stab at creating a class, CalendarActivityBean, that extended CalendarActivity, and pointed all the CalendarActivity references I had to the new class, but it didn't seem to fire (in debug), and I got into trouble, when inserting records, with
    public void calendarActivityListener(CalendarActivityEvent calendarActivityEvent) {
    currActivity = (CalendarActivityBean) calendarActivityEvent.getCalendarActivity();
    being an illegal cast
    What is the correct way to add provider-based styling to drag-and-drop create calendars?

    A colleague of mine was kind enough to solve this:
    The calendar has ActivityStyles property = #{calendarBean.activityStyles}
    CalendarBean looks something like this:
    package com.hub.appointmentscheduler.ui.schedule;
    import java.util.HashMap;
    import java.util.HashSet;
    import java.util.Set;
    import oracle.adf.view.rich.util.CalendarActivityRamp;
    import oracle.adf.view.rich.util.InstanceStyles;
    +public class CalendarBean {+
    private HashMap activityStyles;
    private String dummy;
    +public CalendarBean() {+
    +// Define colors+
    activityStyles = new HashMap<Set<String>, InstanceStyles>();
    HashSet setPending = new HashSet<String>();
    HashSet setArrived = new HashSet<String>();
    HashSet setApproved = new HashSet<String>();
    HashSet setCompleted = new HashSet<String>();
    setApproved.add("APPROVED");
    setPending.add("PENDING");
    setArrived.add("ARRIVED");
    setCompleted.add("COMPLETED");
    activityStyles.put(setApproved, CalendarActivityRamp.getActivityRamp(CalendarActivityRamp.RampKey.GREEN));
    activityStyles.put(setPending, CalendarActivityRamp.getActivityRamp(CalendarActivityRamp.RampKey.ORANGE));
    activityStyles.put(setArrived, CalendarActivityRamp.getActivityRamp(CalendarActivityRamp.RampKey.PLUM));
    activityStyles.put(setCompleted, CalendarActivityRamp.getActivityRamp(CalendarActivityRamp.RampKey.LAVENDAR));
    +}+
    +public void setactivityStyles(HashMap activityStyles) {+
    this.activityStyles = activityStyles;
    +}+
    +public HashMap getactivityStyles() {+
    return activityStyles;
    +}+
    +}+
    Now, go into the Bindings tab on the calendar page, double click the calendar binding, and specify the column you've defined as the calendar's Provider in the Tags dropdown.
    Should show colors.
