Correctin camera distortion in Camera raw with PSE8
I have a question,
In PS CS3 when i open a RAW file from bridge, i can correct Camera distortion (lens distortion) for example Lens vignetting in the raw converter CAmera Raw .
There is a TAB with this options.
Now i downloaded (for another computer) PSE 8 with bridge for CS4
When i open a RAW file from bridge in Camera Raw 5.5 there is not the option anymore for correcting the camera(lens) distortion.
Is this because it is a trial version or is this because it is PSE in stead of Photoshop CS?
does anybody know this?
I like to know before i buy PSE 8
I know i can correct in PSE itself but then i need to do for every photo itself and not in batch
Thanks in advance for an answer
Best regards,
Gluay
BArbara,
thanks. Yes i was talking about PSE8 for MAC.
It works now.
Best regards,
Gluay

HELLO, i wand do make an update " camera Raw" with the adobe installer - it was not possible - this was the massage -Photoshop Camera Raw 6.7-Update Installation fehlgeschlagen Fehlercode: U44M1P7
You need to buy PSE13. But you can continue with PSE9 if you download and install the free DNG converter to convert your CR2 files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the DNG files will work with yoir existing software(keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.8
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.8
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:
You Tube click here for DNG Converter tutorial -
I'm considering buying CC LR/PS package. My camera is Sony a7 - raw ARW. I've been editing using PSE10 and ver 8.7 of the external Adobe DNG converter. Will I be able to open the DNG files in LR with the edits preserved? Will I be able to open the PSD files in LR with the edits preserved? Any import/catalog etc issues between PSE10 and LR?
Lightroom has no problem reading DNG files. Whether the edits you have done to the DNGs you have originally edited in Photoshop Elements 10 I'm not sure. ACR edits made to DNGs are saved in the DNG file itself, as apposed to a XMP sidecar file, so LR should see those edits. At the worst you will get an exclamation mark in the upper right hand corner of the imported DNGs and clicking on that exclamation mark you will get a dialog box asking you to either import settings from disk or overwrite settings. you would select import settings from disk.

Why don't changes made in camera raw with the adjustment brush carry into photoshop?
Why don't changes made in camera raw with the adjustment brush carry into photoshop?
Using the Open button in ACR to get to PS doesn’t create a PSD or a TIF, it just transfers the image in memory.
As has been asked, already, what are the precise steps of your workflow starting with your painting the adjustment brush strokes in ACR and seeing the image in PS without the strokes, and what exact versions of PS and ACR are you using?

That button is not the Save As button, really, but a link to the DNG converter. To save your raw file in an image format, click the Open button instead and then save in the format of your choice in the editor. I have photoshop C5. when I shot in RAW with a new camera Nikon D3200 I received a notice that my version did not support this camera.
How do I update so I can use the new camera in Raw and have it supported by my version of hotoshop? How do I update so I can use the new camera in Raw and have it supported by my version of hotoshop?
Unfortunately, CS5 cannot open D3200 Raw files. It is not compatible with the required Camera Raw 7.1 plugin.
http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
The Nikon D3200 requires the Adobe Camera Raw 7.1 plugin.
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
CS5 shipped with Camera Raw 6.0 and is only compatible with Camera Raw up to version 6.7. It is not compatible with Camera Raw 7 and later.
If you want to open Raw files from the D3200 in Photoshop, you must upgrade to CS6 or CC.
Alternatively, you can download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all the D3200 Raw files to DNG then open and edit the DNGs in CS5.

I seriously need help, my whole entire catalog of photos just got darkened for some reason after importing photos used with a different camera. What happened is that I imported photos taken with a different camera (Canon EOS 60D) and when I did that, it darkened all the rest of my photos (taken with Canon EOS Rebel T3). Why did this happen? This is making my photos insanely hard to edit.
If you always want Camera Neutral picture style to be applied, then open one of your images that you have imported and have changed nothing else in Lightroom. Set the camera profile to Camera Neutral and save new camera default settings. Then whenever you import that setting will be applied to all of your images.
If you don't always want that style, you could save a preset that applies the Camera Neutral picture style, and then you could choose to use that preset during the import process.
It is simply a matter of determining your workflow and then setting things the way you want them to work. -
I would like to add a new Canon camera profile to the RAW interface
Hi, I would like to add a new Canon camera profile to the RAW interface.
I have recently installed the new camera profile 'Studio Portrait' which i download from here:
http://www.canon.co.jp/imaging/picturestyle/file/studio-portrait.html
When I open up a RAW files in Camera RAW, go to 'Camera Calibration', click on the drop down list called
'Camera Profile' I only see 'Adobe Standard, Faithful etc etc'.
My questions are, can i add the same camera profile i put in my camera, into a folder with in photoshop?
Or is photoshop reading the raw file and only seeing the default camera profiles?
If I could see the new camera profile listed it would help with work flow.
Best
JL-B
Please help, ive not had a good time waiting on the phone and trying to explain this to a live chat, hours have been wasted. Once i know the answer I can get back to the commission. Are you following this
Apply a camera profile
To apply a camera profile, select it from the Camera Profile pop-up menu in the Camera Calibration tab of the Camera Raw dialog box. The Adobe Standard profile for a camera is named Adobe Standard. Camera Matching profiles include the prefix Camera in the profile name. The Camera Profile pop-up menu displays only profiles for your camera.
If the only profile in the Camera Profilemenu is Embedded, it means that you have selected a TIFF or JPEG image. Adobe Standard and Camera Matching profiles work only with raw images.
Note: If you have selected a raw file and Adobe Standardand Camera Matching profiles do not appear in the Camera Profilepop-up menu, download the latest Camera Raw update. -
Camera calibration in Camera Raw 6.7 VS 7.0*
Hi again!
I noticed that in cameraw raw 7.0, under camera calibration, my only choice is Adobe standard. I get the same for me Fuji X100.
In the 6.7 version witn CS6, for my Canon 5d Mark III (same with the Mark II), I had the full array: Standard, Faithful, Landscape, etc.
Have I forgotten something under "camera raw preference"? I included "make default specific to camera serial number".
Thanks,
MarcelSee this link for details on camera support in Camera Raw versions:

Snip taken from link above:
You’ll also note that ACR7, available with Photoshop CS6 beta, is lagging the most in updated camera support. This is based on when we lock down or “bake” the code for each release. Even though ACR7 was only released last week it was “baked” before Lightroom 4.0 and Camera Raw 6.7. Similarly, Lightroom 4.0 was finalized before Camera Raw 6.7. We’ll get Lightroom and Camera Raw in sync soon but in the interim, here’s the latest incremental support list for each product, relative to Camera Raw 6.6 and Lightroom 3.6:
Photoshop CS6 beta with ACR7
Canon PowerShot S100V
Fuji FinePix X-S1 -
can you tell me when you launch a camera plug in for Raw file, Then I can use photoshop elements 13. I have now a trail version
For that Nikon model you need ACR 8.3 that means CS6 or CC. Or you can download the DNG converter convert your Nikon RAW files to Adobe RAW files. And then process the Adobe RAW files with CS5 ACR version 6.7

I have found that the filter makes automatic changes to images. For example, if I correct a vignette with no sturctural sliders touched, then save the setting, the image appears in my editing window signifcantly altered with altered barrel configurations. So, I have to redo and compensate or just forget about it. This is not a problem with an image I want to correct--architectural, for instance. But, who wants to start fixing issues that the software is creating? I would like to disable this but have not found a setting yet. Thanks.
As far as i know, the auto correction in pse 12's correct camera distortion filter can't be disabled.
One way around it would be to strip all the info from your file.
Open your image, then go to File>New>Blank File and from the Preset list click on the name of the document.
Go back to your original, Select>All and then Edit>Copy
In the new blank document, Edit>Paste and Layer>Flatten Image
Then hopefully when you open your new document into Filter>Correct Camera Distortion, no auto correction is applied -
CS6 Beta questions: skin tones, camera calibration in Camera RAW
While this is supposed to be a fully functional version, I am missing the Patch and Move content aware tools, the Skin Tones function does not work, there is no camera calibration except for Adobe Standard available under Camera RAW 7.0 and none of the links uder "Help" work. When I try to look for updates I am assured that I have the latest version. Does this sound right to you? Am I just not looking in the right places for these features or are they indeed not available in Beta, in which case it is of course impossible to try them out.
Thanks very much, Pattie. I was not holding down the Healing brush. That all works fine now. However, what about camera profiles for camera calibration in Camera Raw 7.0 and why don't the skin tones work? I am using a reasonably new HP laptop with plenty of horsepower and Windows 7. Here is my system info. Can you help further?

Aperture not showing camera settings applied on RAW images
I have the Canon EOS 1D Mark II N. When in-camera settings like contrast, sharpening, etc are applied in camera, then those images are loaded directly from card reader into Aperture the in-camera changes are not applied to the Raw images. The Jpeg images DO show the in-camera settings contrast/sharpening etc being applied. I can take the memory card and load those same images into DPP Digital Photo Professional and the settings applied in camera do show on the BOTH Raw and Jpeg files.
In Aperture when I look at the thumbnails of the RAWs and JPEGs side by side. It is obvious which ones are the jpegs just by the contrast added in camera.
I can Also take the images within Aperture-export masters to desktop, then open them in DPP and the contrast/sharpening shows on the raws and jpegs the same in DPP.. It seems to be just Aperture..
Is this Normal? That Aperture does not read the in-camera changes on the Raw files? On the Metadata EXIF Expanded, It does read the exposure Bias, shutter speed etc correctly on the Raws, just not the Contrast or sharpening changes.Hi Kathy,
This is expected. Settings you make in the camera, for things like color space, sharpening, white balance, etc. don't really apply to RAW images. This is the way the camera and RAW software are designed -- the RAW is really untouched, and this information is tagged along as "meta information." No actual transformation on the image is performed.
You take the RAW image into a RAW converter (Aperture's a good one and make the changes you want. In some cases (White Balance) the tagged info is used, but in others (sharpening, color space) it's not. Aperture uses the widest possible color space (it's wider than ProPhoto RGB from what I've been told, though I haven't used my handy gamut checker to verify
So this contrasts with JPEGs. JPEG is a "final" format -- so the settings you have configured in your camera are actually used in the creation of the JPEG. It is sharpened, color balanced based on your settings, fit into a color space (sRGB, Adobe RGB, etc.) compressed, and written as a JPEG. You can't take these things "back" once that has been done.
Aperture actually makes working with both types of images so similar that it's difficult to really notice the differences. If you work with a more labor-intensive workflow like Adobe Camera RAW, you'll notice all the extra steps you must employ to get from RAW to JPEG. -
In-camera settings to camera raw
Is it possible to export the in-camera settings to camera raw in CC?
Back when i have CS3 camera raw did read my camera settings and started with showing them as standard when i opened my raw files.....Adobe reads the camera setting of white-balance which is specified in an industry-standard way, but mostly camera settings are only appropriate for the camera manufacturer’s raw converter in camera or in their software.
Adobe has their own raw converter which has its own settings.
What you may be referring to is the Profile in the Camera Calibration tab that defaults to Adobe Standard but for some models of cameras you can change to Camera Standard, Camera Neutral, Camera Portrait, Camera Landscape, etc, depending on whether Adobe has developed these simulated camera mode profiles or not for the model of camera the raws are from.
Is this what you’re talking about? You can set ACR to have a different default profile than Adobe Standard, but you cannot have ACR read the camera settings for a profile and select the simulated profile automatically. -
Correct Camera Distortion no longer works in either PSE12 or 11.
Correct Camera Distortion window come up and looks normal but the photo does not respond to any of the sliders. Restarted programs, restarted computer and problem remains. How to fix?
Other controls I have tried seem to work. Yesterday it worked but not today. What to do?I have a DSC-T1 Sony camera. I also have a Panasonic video camera with a built in digital camera. I just took some shots with the Panasonic. Plugged it in, and it worked perfectly. iphoto opened and did what it was supposed to do. I then tried the Sony and nothing happened again. Maybe this is a problem with the mac not recognizing certain cameras...?????

Connect by prior repeating nodes
I have a hierarchical structure (a directed acyclic graph with a root node) and I want to list only the leaf nodes for a root node. For example, say I have the following graph A -> B, A->C, A->D B->C, C->D, D->E, D->F I want to get the results as A -
