Correcting blurred photos in premiere elements 11

I have checked several solutions to correcting blurred photos in premiere elements 11.  Most of them turn out to be different versions and does not help me.   I have had: in expert mode select photo, filter-other-high pass.  I tried this and doesnt work.  I believe if this is the way to correct blurred photos, I am missing a step somewhere.  I have gone to enhance-adjust sharpness or unsharp.   I must be doing something wrong. or can you correct blurred photo?

j strengh
What is the situation - I do not really see the typical 720 x 480 resolution vs HD resolution type of question. I am seeing it as a photo editing (sharpening) question which may or may not be related to further use of these photos in Premiere Elements 11.
Which of the following is applicable to your situation..
a. You have great looking photos saved on the computer hard drive, but, after you import them into Premiere Elements, they look blurry on the Timeline and you want to try to correct that
or
b. You have great looking photos, but, after you import them into Premiere Elements and burn them to DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, the photos are blurry in the playback of the DVD-VIDEO with your TV's DV player
or
c. None of the above, rather you are trying to improve the sharpness of your photos in general using Photoshop Elements Full Editor/Filter Menu/Other/High Pass. If so, have you tried the Unsharp Mask under the Enhance Menu?
Consider the distinction between sharpening an image (contrast changes) and trying to correct a bad blur  in the original.
From all that you have written, I suspect that this involves "c" and how to get the best results for sharpening an image in Photoshop Elements. If that is the case, you might seek input from the Photoshop Elements Forum here on that. Another possibility is that you may be creating pixelation in your images if you are up-sizing your images in the search for higher resolution and better quality.
Please give as much more detail to make sure that your question and its answer can be targeted correctly.
Please do not forget the follow up which is the key to success.
Thank you.

  • Loss of still photos in Premiere Elements 10

I have recently installed Premiere Elements 12 and have Prem El 9 & 10 also installed. I am using the book "Classroom in a Book" to gain experience in 12. To undertake the exercises I had to use the project setting NTSC-AVCHD. My normal setting is PAL HD. When I went back to projects in 10 the still photos were shown as "media off line". The videos were still correctly present. The stills were quite OK in Elements 10. How can I get the projects in 10 back? (I have tried re-setting the project setting to PAL HD).

    Wendy and Scott
Please clarify from where you are missing stills - in the Elements Organizer and/or the Premiere Elements workspace (media area and/or Timeline).
Are you moving, deleting, renaming files and folders involved in a project after you have saved/closed the project?
Premiere Elements 10 project.prel (provided its source media are connected) can usually be opened in Premiere Elements 12 by right clicking the 10 project.prel file, selecting Open With, and then Premiere Elements 12. Since 12 edited project.prel cannot be edited again in 10, best make a copy of 10 project.prel for the editing in version 12.
Also, if you have important entries in the Elements Organizer 10 and you want them in Elements Organizer 12, look into 10 catelog conversion in Elements Organizer 12.

  • Rotate Photos in Premiere Elements 9

I created several photo slideshows on Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.  I went to create a DVD with Adobe Premiere Elements 9 with slideshow to be a chapter.  When the slideshows were moved into the Adobe Premiere Elements 9 to create menus and burn the DVD, several of the photos in different slideshows were rotated 90 degrees.
Question:  How do I rotate individual photos to the correct orientation?

This "problem" bites many users. The "answer" is that in cataloging apps, such as Organizer, there is the capability to alter how an images DISPLAYS, but that does NOT alter the pixels in any way. PrE will see the pixels, and ignore the metadata on the display. This ARTICLE goes into more detail. The "fix" is to actually Rotate the Images, to rearrange their pixels, and then Save the file. This is easily done in Photoshop, or Photoshop Elements.
    Good luck,

  • Portrait Photos appear as Landscape Photos in Premiere Elements 9

I created a photo slideshow in Photoshop Elements 9.  I then selected the slideshow, clicked on the 'Create' tab and selected make a DVD.  Once the slideshow was in the Premiere Elements 9 application, I did a 'Preview' and several of the photos formatted as 'Portrait' appeared distorted (compressed top to bottom) and appreared in the 'Landscape' format.  How can I correct this problem?

How were the Portrait Still Images Rotated?
If done in a viewing/cataloging program, like Organizer, that rotation was only for display, and the actual pixels have not been altered yet. They are still just as they were, when recorded in the camera. The actual Rotation needs to be done in, say Photoshop Elements, or in PrE with the Fixed Effect>Rotation.
If you are creating the SlideShow other than on the Timeline in PrE, you will want to actually Rotate the Images.
    Good luck,

  • When I insert photos into Premiere Elements timeline they become pixilated.  Has anyone a remedy?

The photos I insert into the timeline in Elements become pixilated.  They looked fine in the organiser.  Has anyone a remedy to this problem please?

    Judie Sutton
    Thanks for the additional information.
If rendering the Timeline content of those photos does not resolve the photo pixelation issue as per SG's question, then please read on.
    a. Do you have a mixed Timeline of photos and video? If so, what is the format of the video and how many of these
2799 x 3500 photos are included? Do you get photo pixelation whether you have 1 or many of these photos on the Timeline?
    b. What happens to the Edit area monitor view of one of these photos if you right click the Edit area monitor, select Playback Quality, and then compare the choices of Automatic vs Highest Quality? If you right click the Edit area monitor and select Magnification, do you find the Magnification set at the default "Fit"?
    c. Have the photos been edited in Photoshop before being imported in Premiere Elements. If so, what was the extent of the Photoshop editing including effects applied and color profile?
More later depending on your results and follow up.
    Thanks.

  • Disappearing still photos in Premiere Elements 12

I'm creating a video with Premiere Elements 12. I have video clips as well as still images and separate narration tracks to bring together in it. Thing is, the program isn't showing the photos, although I can hear the narration. Any solutions for this? The media were newly imported, so they are definitely linked properly. I also tried moving them up to video track 2, but same outcome.
    Thanks.

Please confirm if you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer along with Premiere Elements 12/12.1? Are your running the program as administrator?
At the present time, your problems are extending to video (that QuickTime movie) as well as your photos. Let us go through the following drill questions
    1. Does the problem exist with or without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
    2. Is your video card/graphics card driver version up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
    3. Are you working with a pen and tablet device instead of mouse?
    4. Are you using any high contrast Windows 7 themes?
Depending on your answers, the next steps might be
    1. Delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    12.0
and in the 12.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole
12.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders,
and Drives enabled so that you can see the whole path cited.
    2. Uninstall the program, do a free ccleaner run through (regular and registry cleaner parts), reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
    CCleaner - Download
Then download and install the 12.1 Update from an opened project's Help Menu/Updates.
Let us rule in or out the above factors.
    Thanks.

  • Autosize photo for Premiere Elements 12

I want to drag photos and videos into my Premiere Elements 12 movie timeline and then be able to autosize them so they fit properly in the movie. I've been using IMovies prior to Elements 12 and was able to do it there. Any thing like hat in Elements 12? Thanks

    Topflightup
    Thanks for the reply.
As I have said before, for automatic sizing of the import to the frame size/pixel aspect ratio of the project preset, you have a check mark next to Default Scale to Frame Size in Edit Menu/Preferences/General. With that preference in effect, the program will try to make the fit as best it can. If you are importing a 3:2 or 4:3 image into a 16:9 project, the best that the program can do is make the fit with black borders.
    But....
In the Edit area monitor, you could then zoom into the image until the black borders are gone.
In the Edit area monitor, you could work with Default Scale to Frame Size disabled before import and then import the file and scale it to fit the Edit area monitor space which is defined by the project preset. The bottom line is that the program allows for one project preset, and, when you have content with different properties, then you set priorities and fit everything else into it.
It is often preferable to crop the image before import into a Premiere Elements project. The Photoshop Elements Editor crop tool is convenient for this, for example, crop to 1920 x 1080 16:9. But, this is a one by one operation. There are batch cropping/resizing programs, but often one crop setting for one photo is not always suitable for the view for each of the rest.
What are the pixels dimensions of your photos?
The easiest and quickest way might be to import as is (assuming your project project preset is appropriate for the prime source media) and then scale the photo in the Edit area monitor. Computer resources may or may not factor into the considerations on this...depends on how many photos, pixel dimensions of each, and the level of the computer resources. On a positive note, Premiere Elements 12/12.1 on Windows 8.1 64 bit is a 64 bit application which translates into better computer resources than otherwise.
Please let us know the details of these photos and then we will make additional comments if necessary.
    Thank you.

  • Unable to edit photos in Premiere Elements 11 [was: Setting up]

I have Elements 11 the Premiere and I cannot seem to be able to edit any of the photos.  All that is available is to be able to brighten the colour or add a name or to crop.  There are no tools whatsoever down the side and in fact I there are none shown.  When I have brought up some of the photos all it seems to do is keep refering to videos and I want to edit photos.
    I am very frustrated today.
    Thanks.

I believe Premiere is for editing video, Photoshop Elements would be used for editing photos.

  • Three-Way Color Correction in Adobe Premiere Elements 13?

Does Adobe Premiere Elements 13 have the Three-Way Color Correction feature, as found in past versions? Really important.

    Phil-SC
What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 13 running on?
    In Premiere Elements 12 or 13 Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit
The short answer is Yes. See fx Effect/Color Correction/Three-Way Color Correction.
The longer answer is in the form of the following 3 screenshots displaying a side by side comparison of the 12 and 13  settings area in Applied Effects/Applied Effects Palette/Three-Way Color Correction Panel expanded

Premiere Elements 12 on left, Premiere Elements 13 on right
    Shadows

I have not done a side by side comparison of results from the two versions, but they have the same controls and
    options as you can see.

  • Can premiere elements make quality DVDs from photos?

Can you make excellent quality DVD's from photos using Premiere Elements 10 using a Mac?"

You should not have any issues.
If you are using only Still Images, here are the tips:
Set up your Project as either NTSC, or PAL DVD, in either Widescreen 16:9, or Standard 4:3. For most current still cameras, the Widescreen 16:9 would be the more likely candidate, but also consider the TV's, that your viewers will likely have. If there are a ton of older, 4:3 CRT TV's in that mix, then consider them.
Scale all of your Still Images to about the Frame Size of your Project, so ~ 720 x 480 for NTSC. See this ARTICLE.
    Import those into the Project.
Drag those to the Timeline, and edit, as required.
    Add any Scene Selection Markers.
When edited, go to Create Menus, and choose either a Wide, or Standard (depends on which you chose) Menu Set, then adjust, as is required.
    When authored, Burn to Disc.
Remember, your Still Images are probably much higher resolution, than DVD, so do not expect HD quality material. However, if you/your viewers have an up-rezzing DVD, or BD player, properly hooked up, the resultant DVD will look spectacular.
    Good luck,

  • How do I set up Premiere Elements 13 as the custom external editor for Lightroom 5?

    Situation
I own Lightroom 5.6 and I'm experienced. I've just bought Premiere Elements 13 and I'm a video-editing virgin (be gentle with me). I've spent a day experimenting, reading, watching videos and I'm still stuck (I've tried reasonably hard to solve my own problem).
    Problem
I've tried to set up the custom external editor in Lightroom 5 to send photos to Premiere Elements, so that I can incorporate images into movies. Having set it up, when I use it by selecting Photo/Edit In/Premiere Elements 13/, there is an exciting lull as a copy of the image is created and appears in LR, then Premiere Elements launches, then what??? There is no clue as to what has happened to the image regarding its import into Premiere Elements 13. It doesn't appear on the screen, it doesn't appear in the Organizer, it's no-where to be seen, other than in LR!
    Resolution sought:
    Can anyone tell me
    1. Is it possible to use Premiere Elements as an external editor in LR5 ?
    2. What are the precise settings should be for each field?
    3. If I configure it correctly, what does good look like: what should I expect to see happen in Premiere Elements?
I don't know if this is relevant: MacBook Pro 16GB 2.8Ghz i7, 750GB SSD (i.e. plenty of space, plenty of horsepower), OS X 10.9.5
I also don't know if I this is the right place for my question (Adobe directed me here) so please don't shout at me if I've come to the wrong place (I expect if I get no joy here, when I post it to an LR forum, they'll shout at me too :-)
    Thanks

    You wrote
    1. Is it possible to use Premiere Elements as an external editor in LR5 ?
I do not have Lightroom 5 or other version of it. I did do some work on an earlier version tryout of it.
And, I believe now as then, that the answer to your question is No. Bottom line, if there is integration
to be found between Lightroom, it is between Photoshop Elements and the Elements Organizer, not the Premiere Elements Editor.

You don't have to buy an Apple keyboard, but you probably need at least to buy a keyboard that connects via proper USB instead of through some Windoze-world adapter, which probably requires a driver that's not available for the Mac OS.
The Apple Bluetooth KB and Magic Trackpad make a fabulous combination for use with any MacBook Pro that spends a lot of time in clamshell mode, because the trackpad works exactly like the built-in trackpad. So there's no transition adjustment to make when you pack up your MBP and go portable with it.

  • Premiere Elements 9 stops working. A lot.

Just bought and downloaded Premiere Elements 9. Just playing around with a couple of titles, a short video clip and one photo. Premiere Elements must have stopped working at least four different times. Is this normal? I have a brand new HP laptop with all the necessary processors, memory and disk space. This seems odd.
Also, every time I go back and re-open, I get that annoying dashboard with the choice of organizing, new project or open project. Can I turn that off? I'd rather just go to the normal opening screen.
    Thanks!

    - you need AT LEAST 2 drives for video editing, 3 is better

  • Cannot create slideshow in Premiere Elements 8

I just installed and am trying to use Premiere Elements 8. I have been racking my brain for the last two hours trying to figure out how to create a slide show.  I do not have a create button anywhere.  I jumped from Elements 1.0 to 8.  I am ready to return 8 and go back to 1 if I cannot figure this out.
Where do I find the slideshow dialog box?
    Can someone please help?????
    Thanks.

Oh come on, Eric! You're not really going to return the program just because you couldn't figure out how to use it, are you?
I"m just teasing you. The program can be a bit intimidating at first. That's why I spend most of my day showing people how to use it.
Actually, there are at least four ways to build a slideshow in Premiere Elements. I show you how to do them all in my book, "The Muvipix.com Guide to Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements 8," if you're interested. It's available on Amazon.com and from the Muvipix store.
I don know specifically what kind of slideshow you're trying to create, so I can't give you specific instructions.
But first, before you bring any photos into Premiere Elements, be sure to resize them to 1000x750 pixels, per the FAQs to the right of this forum.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/431851?tstart=0
Then use Get Media/From Files and Folders to get the photos into your Project panel (also under the Organize tab.)
Once you've got all of your photos gathered in your Project media panel, select them all and right-click -- and select Create Slideshow.
As I say, there are a number of other ways to do it, but this is the easiest. There is also an option for creating a slideshow in Themes and there's a slideshow creator built into the Organizer.
But that should get you started.
Meantime, why not check out my free Basic Training with Premiere Elements tutorials on the Muvipix site?

  • Why on Premiere Elements 9 for Mac Unexpectly Quits when previewing edit?

Former Dell Windows XP PC user with new MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.5 with 2.53 GHz Intel iCore 5
Using Adobe Premiere Elements 9 for the Mac.
Experience: Premiere Elements 2, 4, 6, 7 on Windows based PC
First video editing experience on MacBook Pro using PSE9 so far consisting of 3 still pictures with titles and transitions.
The 3 still photos ran fine with no titles and no fades and no transitions.
When I add a title wth a fade in OR add a transition between photo clips and try to preview the edit without rendering the work area, The application suddenly quits with the message (see attached error message photo): Adobe Premiere Elements 9 quit unespectedly.
The Problem details and System Configuration runs hundreds of lines.
When I click the Reopen button, it doesn't work -- all I get is a white screen.
When I click OK, I get a Crash Report for Adobe Premiere Elements 9  window (see attached error message photo)
If I render the work area before previewing, the "unexpected quit" problem goes away.  So that is a solution but it is a "work around" solution.
    Attempts to solve problem:
Contacted Adobe support person via telephone named Jolly in India.  He connected to my computer so that he could see my screen.  His solution was to download an available update for  APSE9 and the first Preview run worked flawlessly.  So we hung up the phone.
Then I did one "cross disolve" transition and Bing !! ASPE9 unexpectedly quit !!
Any ideas at all?  NOTE:  This 70 yr old "didn't grow up with computers" is still on learning curve for using the Mac.
    Thanks in advance,  David (DRthiess)

Thank you Bill H. and Steve G. for your prompt reply and suggestions.
Bill, I started this project of editing the video from my son's, (the coach) boy's team winning the state Cross-Country championship back on Monday (now Thursday 12/2) with the intent of having it finished by the time I see him on Sat.  I'm running out of time to do extensive research and will have to use my "work arounds" the problem, namely rendering the work area before previewing an EDIT (and maybe even "sharing" small segments as a .mov file to my hard drive without previewing and then putting the segments together and later researching a fix.
Note Bill that when APrE9 first quits, I do get "details" that run hundreds of lines -- which mean nothing to this 70 yr. old mind.  I do submit reports into, is it APPLE? or is it ADOBE? that gets the reports.  And what does the "receiver" do with the reports anyway?
Steve.  The camera is a Sony DV camcorder (tape) but I haven't gotten to the video yet.  I started the video editing with 3 jpeg still photo and was trying to overlay them with titles with some fade in's and fade out's and Cross dissolve transitions.  So I haven't even dragged the action video to the time line yet.
NOTE: I have installed Parallels 6 and Windows 7 on my Mac and my Adobe premiere elements 9 (just purchased) came with both a Mac installation DVD and a Windows installation DVD.  The Adobe tech support said that I could try the Windows version when Windows 7 is up and running on my computer but that Adobe would not support that platform because as he said:  Window 7 on the Mac doesn't operate the same as Windows 7 on a PC.  News to me as I thought that by installing Windows 7 on my Mac, I would get the identical Windows environment with no conflicts.  Perhaps I was expecting too much.
Thanks again.  I'll report back when I get it solved or if I need more help.
    David
