Correcting Perspective with grid

Adobe TV is my training. Under Correcting Perspectuve. just so you know Im a newbie. I tryed to use the grid to correct my image only in one corner but it pulls the whole right side. What Im I doing wrong.  http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-photoshop-cs6/correcting-perspective/#community

Hi there, will you please send us a screenshot of your project? Are you holding down the command (control for PC) key when you click on the corner?

  • Improving the perspective control grid

The perspective control for photos is for me the best thing that has happened to LR. I can ( just ) about cope with the speed reduction, but the control for verticals, for rotation and for horizontals is superb.
At the moment it appears that the centre of the photograph is the point where the rotation and the vertical and horizontal transforms reference from.
As soon as you select the Vertical / horizontal / rotate / distort, the grid appears that aids you in setting the verticals etc.
There is no way of seeing the central point, where these transformations occur, you ony have the grid, so I am thinking that when you press the modifier keysthe control / shift  / alt keys, a cross appears over the central point of the grid. This would give you the location of the central point. Plain and simple.
As soon as you release the modifier keys, this disappears, so you can just see the grid.
This would speed up rotation tremendously, as this is your reference  point, at the moment, I juggle the rotation and vertical to get where I  want to be.
Alternatively, like the Crop has various layouts, so pressing "O" could  scan through these same grids, but we will need a central point because  at the moment the crop does not have a grid to mark the centre of the  image.
LR 4 may enable you to pick your reference point to do the transformations from, then, apply the same principal to that point with the overlaid rotation marking cross.
    Any thoughts?

Would be an interesting combination, however, none of lightrooms controls use any controls like the PS transform controls, so I think its unlikely they will do that.
Good luck, but try the arrows and expecially zoomed in and see if learning a new trick works for you
Using the arrows is old hat.  I agree this helps for small adjustments.  I use it all the time.  I also like your idea of establishing a reference point.
Regarding your statement that no LR controls are like the PS transform - I disagree.  The LR crop tool is similar (size, aspect and rotation).  All I am suggesting is that the vertical and horizontal transforms be added to the LR crop tool, similar to how the PS crop tool (not the PS transform tool) works.  There is no reason why zooming into the image could not be supported.
Consider this example.  You are copying a document that is rectangular and located on a desk.  You cannot place your camera directly over the document, so you take it at an angle.  Then you want to correct in post processing.  Using the PS crop tool, all you have to do is drag the four corners of the crop rectangle to the four corners of the document.  Done.  Try that in the current LR implementation.  It can be done, but takes a ton of fiddling.
So, I still want both ways of correcting perspective, and I do not think this is against the "LR way of doing things".  Adobe modified the crop tool, based on beta tester feedback, and they may well again.  At least I know they will look at this carefully and come up with improvements based on their track record.
    Cheers

  • Red eye correction generating strange grid pattern in viewer

    Hi everyone,
For the last week Aperture 3.5.1 has been adding a strange grid with a repeating pattern in my images when I edit them in the viewer.  Here is a screenshot:
The strange pattern is near the top right and appears to be of my son's eye. The pattern appears in multiple images and always seems to be one of the eyes of the subject! It occurs when I use the red eye correction.
If I toggle off certain adjustments, not just the red-eye adjustment, the pattern goes away. However, once I turn on certain adjustments the pattern returns or moves to another part of the screen! If I do turn off red eye correction the grid goes away.
    So let me summarize here:
If I use red eye correction and I use ANY other adjustments then I will get the strange eye grid.
It appears if I don't use the red eye correction the eye grid does not appear.
I have tried repairing permissions, repairing the library, rebuilding the database, and reinstalling Aperture. I've also tried moving the library to another mac and I can replicate the issue on that mac as well, however, not as often? I also downloaded memtest and ran it on my mac and it said all my ram is fine. I have also tried shortening my library and I can duplicate the issue in a small library with few pictures.
I'd really like to use the red eye correction without the strange grid! When I export the images the grid does not appear.
I am using a Mac Pro mid 2010 with 14 gig of memory. The second machine I tried is a macbook pro laptop using 8 gig. I'm really at a loss here. Please help! Thanks again

Sounds like you have done everything but delete your user preferences.  This often resolves UI issues.
Details are on Apple's Aperture trouble-shooting page.

  • Why does 10g EM with GRID install a 9.0.1.5 database (windows 2003)

Having a hectic day with EM/DG. I reinstalled my enterprise manager with grid control 10g and opted to let it create a new database. I then looked at the version and found out it created a 9.0.1.5.1 database. Whats up with this??

If that's EM Grid 10.1, Probably because the version of AS that EM builds on, builds on that version (of DB) :-) EM's repository is, of course, still 10.1.0.x
In the correct circumstances, EM 10.1 supports having its repository in Database 10.1.0.x where x=3 or higher.

  • Suggested Workflow when correcting Perspective in external Editor

I am using PTLens as an external editor to correct perspective distortion on wide angle shots. I'm writing a TIFF for PTLens and stacking it with the original RAW upon return to LR.
What would the recommended workflow be for doing that?
Do basic development first on RAW, then edit in PTLens, then crop?
Do edit in PTLens first, then go on with basic development on the TIFF?
    I see the following issues:
After "burning" the TIFF for PTLens, I lose the ability to alter the corrections made on the RAW (e.g. local adjustments)
I need to do at least a crop in LR after correcting perspective in PTLens
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Beat,
It is frustrating to have multiple version of the same images due to having to go to outside programs to perform certain functions.  Ultimately, I believe LR will accommodate our needs in lens distortion as well as noise removal (and a few other key areas) in the RAW pipeline either through improved LR features or through the allowing of plug-ins directly into the pipeline.  In the meantime, I use the following workflow (only for images that I take outside of LR, either PS or other programs, which is a few as possible):
    1.     develop in LR using my camera specific default settings
    2.     fix white balance as it seems to work best with the RAW file before conversion to TIFF (definately before conversion to JPEG)
    3.     export to TIFF into outside program
    4.     perform outside program modifications
    5.     import the modified TIFF (hopefully automatically) back into LR
    6.     stack the TIFF with the RAW and make the TIFF the top image (automatically if possible)
    7.     make all other adjustments (cropping, exposure, adj brusth, etc.) to the TIFF, treating it as the negative
It seems to keep me from getting confused about which image to work on when in LR.
Everybody of course has their own strategy.  Hopefully you will come up with one that works for you.  Good luck.

  • HT1751 After "Restoring iTunes Library Backup" it wont link to the files in the iTunes folder. I've followed the correct procedure, and iTunes lists all my music correctly (but with no artwork), but can't locate any of the files. Using Windows 7. Help ple

After "Restoring iTunes Library backup" it wont link to the files in the iTunes folder. I've followed the procedure as described, and the iTunes folder is in the correct location. iTunes lists all my music correctly (albeit with no artwork), but can't locate any of the files.
I've been restoring my iTunes folder from a backup hard drive to a new computer on which I've downloaded the latest iTunes (10.7). If this is a newer version than the one I backed up with could this be the problem? (I had the latest (to my knowledge) iTunes when I backed up the folder about 3 weeks ago, was this version 10.7?)
Or is the version of iTunes (within recent updates) not an issue when restoring a library?
    Using Windows 7.
    Any help please?

From the top of the page where the scripts live...
The general method of use is to download the script to a folder of your choice, e.g. your Desktop, Downloads folder or create a folder at ...\iTunes\Scripts. Select a playlist or highlight some tracks in iTunes and then double-click on the script to execute it. If no specific tracks are selected the script will try to work with all tracks in the current playlist. Some scripts offer a choice of track by track confirmation of changes or fully automatic processing of the selection. Many of the scripts can optionally display a progress bar while running.
You are strongly advised to backup your entire library, or at the very least the iTunes Library.itl file, before use. Test the behaviour of your chosen script on a small group of files first to make sure it does what you want before applying it to large numbers of files.
Most builds of Windows will execute *.vbs scripts when you double-click them. If that doesn't happen then you might need to visit the Add/Remove Programs or Programs & Features control panel to enable the Windows Scripting Host. I can track down details if you have issues.
Backing up and restoring data is an area that is often glossed over. Most people don't try to learn much about it until they've lost something important. (Me too )
If your iTunes library was in the usual layout then normally copying the whole iTunes folder from the User's Music folder in the old computer to the User's Music folder in the new one will usually work fine. Ideally this is done before iTunes is installed so that there is no empty library to replace, and all settings are picked up from the old library. This post contains more details.

  • Logic for correcting strings with different barckets

can any one tell me the simple logic for correcting strings with different barckets
    suppose say for eg.
    (<{abc}>defgh) should evaluate to TRUE
    (<{abc>} should evaluate to FALSE
    Things to check is
    1. number of opening brace and closing brace
    2. Their position are correct or not
If the above two conditions are met than it is TRUE else FALSE
i guess string function with decode and lenght function or case should do but bit difficult to develop this logic in with sql

  • Tool bar dock problem with grid layout

I have a tool bar with grid layout. When i dock it to vertical location(west or east) the buttons inside tool bar keep one row. I want to know how do i do to make the buttons arraged vertically like the tool bar with default layout when dock it at west or east position.

I had started a custom layout manager for toolbars a few months ago that I found a little easier to use than the default BoxLayout. I just modified it to allow optionally matching the button sizes (width, height, or both), so you can get the same effect as GridLayout. Note that this one doesn't collapse the toolbar like the one in the other thread. Here's the source code as well as a simple test app to demonstrate how to use it. Hope it helps.
