Hello,
I am upgrading an ECC 5.0 system to ECC 6.0, and am trying to log into the shadow system to correct a few activation errors. With just about every transaction I attempt, I get the following error:

Table REPOLOAD does exist. I am investigating whether it has something to do with the SAPUSER table, but I would appreciate any other ideas anyone may have. I did not encounter this error until the phase ACT_700.

L. LessmillerHello Sunny,
Thanks for your reply. I have looked at Notes 662644 and 400241 thoroughly and cannot find anything wrong with privileges for SAPR3 or SAPR3SHD, nor can I find anything wrong with the OPS$ mechanism.

Hi all,
I don't understand the process myself but heres how i've been told it goes. When an upgrade is taking place a copy of the live environment is sent to a Shadow System to minimise downtime in the live environment. When the upgrade is completed it is transferred to the live environment.
Thats how it was described to me but the question i'm looking for an answer too is whether or not the copy on the Shadow System is then automatically deleted or whether theres a security risk in that someone could gain access to the Shadow System?
Any help appreciated. ThanksHi John,
As you correctly say, a shadow instance is installed to help with the upgrade process. You may rest assured though that the instance is automatically removed by the upgrade mechanism. More important, will be to note the OS file which holds all the passwords during the upgrade; ensure that this is removed once the upgrade is complete. The upgrade process informs you of both the filename and the location of it.
All the best with the upgrade!

I am using the Apple trackpad with Firefox version 4. The trackpad won't "pinch open and close". It is configured correctly in the system preferences. It also worked in version 3. Anyone have any suggestions?
Do the related browser.gesture prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page still have a value set for those gestures?
Which Firefox function should be performed with those gestures?
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br /> -
Shadow system not started due to memory
Dear All,
We are doing EHP7 upgrade and using SUM 1.0 sp 10 lmt 8
We faced an issue in preprocessing phase while SUM tries to start shadow system.
Shadow system failed to start> after checking logs at /SUM/abap/system/SID/DVEBMGS/work
it was found that shadow system was trying to allocate 210 gb of space to em_initial_size_MB. System gets crashed with core dump.
it was then fixed after i maintained the parameter em_initial_size_mb in shadow's system instance profile to 16384 and tried to start. it started up.
We never faced this issue with our other system while doing ehp6 as well. is it a bug with SUM 1.0 sp10 lmt8 which doesn't put the parameter in shadow profile.
error in dev_w0

regards,
Devender Goyal.Hi,
Seems like a bug with the SUM 1.0 SP09. Refer thread SUM 1.0 SP09: Shadow instance assigns too much memory
Manually changing the parameter might be the solution available.

Hello
I have installed a new PI 7.4 system (SR 1) and now I'm updating it from SP 5 to the newest, SP 7 (both java and ABAP stacks)
I'm using SUM 1 SP 10 patch 8, which is the newest SUM version.
Is there any way to prevent SUM from creating a shadow system? this is just 2 support packages X 6 ABAP components. The system is brand new and I don't care about the downtime, only about the entire update duration.
SUM asked me if I want "Standard" or "Advanced" downtime configuration and I chose standard.
Thank's for your help
GalHi Gal,
single system mode is not available for PI dual stack systems, sorry - see Central SAP Note 1878193 for SUM ('No "Single System" mode on dual stack systems'), and threads like this one: SUM usage - Dual Stack

SHADOW system Dispatcher NOT RUNNING
Hi All,
We are upgrading from 4.7 to ECC6.0. The PREPARE went fine but during the upgrade, we are getting an error. The SAPup is not able to connect to the shadow system for running some jobs. When we checked the MMC, we found that the dispatcher is not running for our SHADOW system. We are on Windows/Oracle 10g.

Error during creating the shadow system
Hello Support,
I am updating the ECC system to EHP4 .
We are having error in the RUN_RSVWSCPY phase (Shadow system Installation)
In one of the phases RUN_RSVWSCPY , it runs a job in the source system (i.e RPD)
Job Name :RSUG_COPY_SHD_VIEWS
This Job is cancelling with UNCAUGHT EXCEPTION
In the ST22 , it gives me ORA error
i.e ORA -01017 : invalid usename /password ;login denied.
When i checked the dev_w0 of the source system , i found the following error

Please helpHello,
This is normally caused by the fact that the shadow schema user SAPR3SHD still exists from a previous upgrade and has a password different from the default. The obvious action is to set the password (ALTER USER SAPR3SHD IDENTIFIED BY SAP).
Based on earlier experience I must warn you however that you might be in for some trouble, because this situation sometimes seems to lead to the shadow repository being incomplete. I ran into this a long time ago (with an upgrade to ECC 5) and was then able to work my way out. Recently however a consultant I know had the same thing with an EHP4 upgrade and had to restart from the beginning. I don't want to frighten you needlessly, but I guess it's better to be warned. If after restarting the upgrade you get errors like "Table SVERS does not exist", then you're in the s...
In your next upgrades it is mandatory that before startig the upgrade you either drop the old shadow schema completely or at least reset the password to "SAP".
Good luck,

Deactivate "Correct Spelling Automatically" system wide and permanently?
Hi,
as the title says: is there a way to deactivate "Correct Spelling Automatically" system wide and permanently?
I really really don't like it!
Thank you,
CédricThank you so much! It was really driving me crazy since I often switch between different languages and have some text in multiple languages which always caused a total mess and the correct spelling automatically thing would just correct everything wrong.
Thank you! -

anyone knows a reason why ? - I checked the sid_shd user, all seemed ok

PaulHi,
This problem is for BIN collation.
1. You have to convert from BIN (MS SQL Server 2000) to BIN2 (MS SQL Server 2005 ) collation.
2. Check first db properties in MS SQL Server for Collation.

Not sure if that helps but thought it might provide a clue.

Shadow system during system upgrade
Hi All,
I am new to upgrade.I would like to know about Shadow System, how it will be created, what happens during the switch between the shadow and original system.
I had read the following blog which helped me to get clarity in the introduction part.
SUM: introduction to shadow system
Appreciate if anyone can explain and share some document on this.
Cheers,
Febin RoyHi Febin,
If you are working on SAP upgrade project you will come across to this term – shadow system or instance and system switch. The background upgrades process. Basically by upgrade we want to get the newest functions that provider offers in its software product that we are currently using. For sure we want to get this done without an interruption to existing, running system. In reality there is always some interruption. We are just trying to minimize it as much as possible. So does the SAP. The background of shadow system is to minimize system downtime during the upgrade.
Shadow system is basically copy of system that is going to be upgraded. This copies system is a bit limited to original one. It has only technical repository (SAP Basis objects) of objects and you cannot run your business processes on it. More over technical repository is upgraded into version of final release of to be upgraded system. Technically speaking it is used for modification adjustments (famous transactions SPAU and SPDD) and activation of objects. All the support packages and add-ons are imported into this instance as well. By them you get you system to the higher release. Let me mention also that shadow system run in the same database as its original system. They are running in parallel.
During preparation of shadow instance you are still running your original SAP system where all the business processes are being executed normally. At the moment when shadow instance is prepared we do its switch from shadow to original system. This is called system switch when you kind of “exchange” original system with shadow one. By that time shadow system becomes upgraded system.

Enhancment pack - shadow system
Hi Friends,
We are increasing the file system of the QA box as we have plans to install EHP4. As per the document it says that for shadow system we have to plan for increase of 80GB of space in the file system.
I want to be more clear is the shadow system means a copy of the whole database of the SAP system. Because our database is 1terrabyte.
can you please help me whether we have increase the shadow system to 80 GB or 1 terra byte.
Also SAP says to increase 50gb on the sapdatabase, does this mean on each of the sapdata file(1 to 4) which is 50GB * 4= 200GB no matter what the size of database.
Thanks
krisHi,
> Many thanks for the reply. How much downtime will it be required for DEV,QA and PRD during the EHP4 upgrade.
>
Downtime depends upon number of R3trans parameter, background processes, RAM and parameter optimization you will do for the upgrade.
> Will the system will not be available for the users during the EHP4 updrade.
System will not be available to user during downtime phase only. For the rest of the phase system will be available to user.
> Will it be good to upgrade during the weekends for the QA and PRD.
>
You can start your upgrade on weekdays but when downtime will come then you can stop it here and start the downtime phase on the weekend.
I will suggest you to go through upgrade guide before starting the upgrade.
Thanks
Sunny
