I'm curious how other color correct for Internet. I'm using Color with an 23" Apple HD Cinema display. I get great results with my machine; however, playback on, say, a Dell 17" LCD monitor is washed out.
Should correct on the monitor of my target audience? If I darken the footage for the Dell will it appear too dark on Apple displays? What do others do?
Also... I shoot a lot of DV footage and notice increased noise with heavy color corrections. Any advice for removing said noise?

How will you determine the monitoring of your target audience? Who is that audience?
Using Google Analytics, we can see which platform our user normally views our website with. We can also see the most common screen resolution. I realize we can't determin the exact monitor they use but platform and screen size is a good start.

Don't shoot DV25? Seriously, the only video more highly compressed than DV25 is hdv. Some have said they get good results with Nattress noise reduction and quite honestly, I've cleaned up some horrendously noisy DV in FCP with the Motion Blur filter but be reasonable, DV25 is the bottom of the digital barrel.
What codec/size would you recommend I shoot with. I have an HVX200 with FS-100 FireStore so I can probably shoot in another format.

Color Correction for Web

This is sort of a generic post questions. I am working on a project for the web. My final output will be to Digibeta. How do others approached color correcting in this situation? Being the computer monitors generally have such different characteristics than a traditional TV. In the past I correct as if I was going to air but this sometimes makes the online videos over saturated and contrasty. I realize there is really no web standard yet but wonder if anyone out there does a lot of web stuff that has any tips.

sRGB is not necessarily meaningful beyond photographic applications. sRGB was designed to roughly reproduce color regardless of local profiling. Acrobat PDF reader for Internet Explorer may be unloading/unabling custom plugin

Hi,
My question is basically to understand what is happening in this situation so that I can find where is the problem and how to solve it.
We have used Acrobat 6.0 SDK to develop our custom plugin. This plugin is basically wrapper to few basic tools (note, stamp, text ) etc.. provided by Acrobat 6.0 SDK. We have also developed PDFViewer.dll to view PDF document within Internet Explorer. So when user load document within our website this PDFViewer loaded with the custom plugin and user can use those tools.
We are installing this plugin under <Acrobat X>/Plug_ins/<Company Name>/MyPlugin.API.
In our web site we are giving list of documents and when user click on a document it will load the PDFViewer and custom plugin. We are loading Acrobat.exe in advance so that we can load quickly. Now the problem happens when user open any other PDF in different tab or instance of Internet explorer. ?How?
Consider in a internet explorer user logged in our web site and then he/she can see let's say 10 documents. 1.pdf, 2.pdf, 3.pdf, etc...
Now when user select document 1.pdf we are loading that PDF in the IE within our PDFViewer with custom plugin. (Here I have seen that behind the scene Acrobat.exe is loaded in the processed using task manager)/ If at this time if user opens another instance of Internet explorer or another tab and open a PDF document it opens PDF in the standard Adobe Reader PDF viewer for Internet Explorer resides at (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX).
If at this time user goes back to our site and tried to work on 1.pdf our custom plugin works fine BUT if user opens any other document (let's say 2.pdf) the plug in stops working basically looks like it is not loaded.
This issue only happens if user opens a document in another internet tab or explorer instance and open PDF which resulted in to open Acrobat Activex for internet explorer. If user opens a PDF document out side of internet explorer it is not creating any problem because at that time ActiveX does not loaded.
So my guess is something is going on when ActiveX for PDF is get loaded into Internet Explorer.
I want to know more what is happening and why it is happening. Due to this behavior our web site users can't use any other web site which opens PDF documents because then they have to log off and log back in our web site.
Please we need immediate help.
I am open to provide more details with screen captures.

So I want to make sure this is because with Acrobat 9 - the new way to deal with PDF's? Because as per my knowledge it was working fine with Acrobat 8.
Moreover, if I am understanding correctly and I have tested too, the order is important here, right? If I will load PDF in IE first and then I will work on my web site it is not creating problem but if I will launch my web site first and then open PDF within IE in different tab it is creating problem because they are using same interface and when AcroPDF instantiating overriding and failed to load plug_in
Here I have seen that both Acrobat.exe and AcroPDF.dll is using same Acrobat.dll pointing to same memory addresses and that's why problem is happening.
IT would be great if you can provide any other way to "hook" adobe because the bottom line I have to use AcroExch.App from SDK.
One last question, I have seen that if I am opening a PDF in Internet Explorer in a different tab (not in my web app) while pressing SHIFT key and the move to my web site and load different document it is working fine, so the question is what different is happening when we open PDF in IE with pressing SHIFT key and without pressing SHIFT key. IS AcroPDF.dll behaves differently while opening PDF with SHIFT key pressed?

Special coding for Internet Explorer

We are modifying a website that was constructed in 2007 using Dreamweaver. In a .css file containing code for external stylesheets, there are numerous instances of double-coding, based upon brower type-one set of code for IE and another for “other browsers”. The following is an example:

The .css and .html code currently supplied by Dreamweaver when creating a new page does not contain duplicate code for IE. Is there still a reason to code differently for Internet Explorer?
The only reference to variations in browsers when creating a new file in Dreamweaver is the following code in the .css file:

Would adding this code eliminate the need for double coding in css for “other browsers" and then for IE as was done in 2007?

What i can tell about my experience, these are known as "css hacks". If your page code its ok and you page its well build there is no need of this tricks, but sometimes new versions of browsers are "buggy" like IE and you have to help them with this hacks so they show correctly. It happens to me all the time that pages look correctly on firefox for example and different on IE, I dont know why they added the "compatibility mode" button it just get worst.
this happens to me often when using dynamic content with javascript scripts.

Website template created in PS not displaying correctly in Internet Explorer. Any ideas?

I was wondering if anyone could help me with creating templates in photoshop.
I have cut up my site, centred the table it produces in Dreamweaver and added a background and made the banners rotate but the site does not load correctly in Internet Explorer (even before I did all this stuff). The cells are not correctly aligned.
I have also tired validating the code but it says it is not valid HTML.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Photoshop is for images only. Don't attempt to use the exported code on real web sites. It won't work in the wild. Why? Because the code isn't good & the tables are too rigid to hold anything other than the image slices. When you attempt to edit this layout in DW or any HTML editor, the whole thing falls apart and produces unsightly gaps between slices.
The reason it doesn't look right in IE is because the code lacks a valid document type declaration on the first line. This causes IE to render the page in Quirks Mode.
The export HTML feature in Photoshop is really only for quick comps to show a client before you begin building the actual web site with HTML and CSS code.
Although written for Fireworks, the 3-part tutorial below describes the procedure for bringing your design comp into a CSS Layout in DW. If you get stuck on anything, feel free to post specific questions in the DW general discussion forum.

Your original question was How to use Time Capsule for wireless back-up but not Internet?
There is no reason for you to connect the tower....or anything else...using Ethernet if your goal remains that same as you stated.
If you are asking if you can backup the Tower using Ethernet, and not wireless, then you can connect the tower to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule....not the WAN port.

I just have to select the network that it created. Of course, I have no access to the Internet while this is happening and it can not auto backup, unless I am on that wireless signal.
As I stated, that is the downside to trying to back up without an Internet connection. You have to establish another network...and backup over that network.
If you are asking if you can stay connected to the work network while also backing up to your non-Internet "private" network, that is not possible.

Sorting not working correctly for date field in alv report

My report displays many rows also containing date type fields of bldat,budat .
When I sort the report selecting field of type bldat budat the sorting is not correct for the year.
Ex:
Invoice doc dat
01-25-2011
01-21-2011
02-02-2011
10-25-2010
11-20-2010
If I use ascending then it is sorted as :
Invoice doc dat
01-21-2011
01-25-2011
02-02-2011
10-20-2010
10-25-2010
Why the sorting is not working correct for year.(2010 records should have been first).
The field wa_tab-bldat is of type char10.
It is populated as wa_tab-bldat = bsak-bldat.
Kindly suggest what can be done.

How can I correct for 2 different color temperatures in one image?

Hi,
In indoor architectural photography one may encounter mixed color temperatures in one image. If one could use gels and lamps to replace incoming natural daylight and force a uniform color temperature (for instance tungsten) then the problem would go away. Yet, sometimes this is not possible or practical and I was exploring what could be accomplished within Photoshop. Here is my proposal ( or beginning of it):
shoot RAW
generate 2 versions of the image, each corrected for one of the color temperatures present (say WB dropper in "should be neutral" area where daylight dominates and another WB dropper in "should be neutral" area where tungsten dominates)
open them in Photoshop and move one of them as a layer on top of the other version
Try to blend the two layers
in one example, I used Hue blending mode and the photo fixed itself!! However this is not generalizable to other images
I also tried BlendIf for harder images but with no success
I presume selection is then a must which brings up the question:HOW CAN I SELECT DEPENDING ON COLOR TEMPERATURE? I mean, the layer where WB = daylight looks orange-casted in the areas where the main light source is tungsten, while the layer where WB = tungsten looks blue-casted in the areas lit mainly by sunlight. I must believe there should exist a best approach to select say the blue-casted areas or the orange-casted areas, and that approach should be simple if it somehow takes into consideration the predominant cast. I have tried Select Color Range but not very successfully. I just feel there must be a simpler way, taking advantage of the present casts.

If you want to use multiple keepalives for a service, you must use a script. The alternative would be to create 2 content rules, and 2 sets of services, one for port 80 (or whatever) and one for port 443 (or whatever), and use http for one and ssl for the other.

Its a late response... but if someone gets the same issue here is the solution.
When you register try uppercase password . That should take care of that issue.
The problem is with function module CRM_ISA_IUSER_SWITCH , Note 946536.
Although the note says 5.0 the problem exists with ISA 4.0 too
