Corrupt authentication dialog box in 10.10.2

The OS X 10.10.2 update has resulting in corrupt authentication dialog boxes. All characters in the boxes have been replaced with the letter 'A' surrounded by their own box. This is universal throughout the OS. A simple way to see this situation is to go to the Utilities folder and attempt to make a new folder. The authentication box pops on the screen but is entirely unreadable, every letter being an A in a box.
I've done a reinstall of 10.10.1 then re-update to 10.10.2 with the exact same results. The volume being used is only for testing Yosemite and for repairing my main boot volume, which runs Mavericks. Therefore, there isn't much alteration of the volume beyond a clean installation.
Dumping user and system cache then restarting makes no difference. I've checked the volume with both Disk Utility and Disk Warrior and found no problems.
The image below is the authentication box that appears when attempting to change something in the Utilities folder:
Background:
- The problem is on a MacBook Pro 15" from August 2013 with 16 GB of RAM.
- Installed Launch Agents: Little Snitch, Intego VirusBarrier and NetBarrier, and Micromat TechToolPro.
- Installed Launch Daemons: Little Snitch, Intego VirusBarrier and NetBarrier, Micromat TechToolPro and DriveGenius 3.
- No login items.

Further testing has implicated the use of the Yosemite San Francisco Font from 'wellsriley' at GitHub. Placing the display version of the font into the ~/Library/Fonts folder will trigger the problem. Removing the font will immediately end the problem.
'wellsriley' notes that "System Alert dialogs render as [a-in-a-box] when installed improperly", meaning if the fonts are installed into the ~/Library/Fonts folder. This problem was not evident in 10.10.1 from my experience. Instead, it is advised by the developer to only install the fonts into the root /Library/Fonts folder.
My solution for now is to simply remove the fonts and not use them. Problem solved.√

  • Corrupt Print Dialog box

I recently upgraded Reader to XI and am now getting this corrupt Print Dialog box when I try to print a pdf from within IE10.  Has anyone ever seen anything like this? Windows 8, IE10, Reader XI

I have 600 users at my company that get the garbled print dialog box with Adobe 9 and IE 11. I used Group Policy to turn on Protected Mode for the Internet and Intranet and now the print dialog box works. Here is where you can find the setting on local group policy (for testing if you are in corporate environment).
Computer Configuration->Administrative Templates-->Windows Components->Internet Explorer->Internet Control Panel->Security Page. You will then go to Internet Zone or Intranet Zone depending on your needs and then Enable "Turn On Protected Mode". Run a gpupdate from command prompt. Hope this helps.

  • InDesign CS3 Print Engine Error and Corrupt Print Dialog Box

We are a networked office working on various files off of a server. After setting print settings in the print dialog box and saving the file, when another user (or the same user) reopens the file, the Print dialog box settings are changed in a bizarre, corrupted way, and the file will not print. We get the following error:
Printing Error: The Adobe Print Engine has failed to output your data due to an unknown problem.
and printing fails to the HP LaserJet 4240 PS (64 MB RAM).
We all use Windows XP, SP2, Dualcore 3 GHz Pentium Processors with 3.5 GB of RAM.
Specifically, the Print dialog box shows these strange settings:
Scaling gets set to 0%, copies are set to 0
    Spreads are turned on
Print Visible Guides and Baseline Grids are turned on
All printers marks are turned on, offset is set to 0
Use document bleed settings is turned on, include slug area is selected
Output Text as Black is turned on
Omit for OPI has all 3 file formats selected (EPS, PDF, and Bitmap)
Usually resetting the Print dialog box and saving the file allows us to print but then the next time we open the file, the Print settings are corrupted again.
Any solutions? Or any fixes in the works?
    Thanks for your help!

We currently only notice this problem with files associated with one project. The project is a book of many chapters, each with it's own file. The problem affects multiple files and multiple users (4 out of 5 people working on these files have experienced the problem). It may very well be a problem caused by a different user opening the files after another has closed them.
We have a LAN with multiple Dell servers running Windows 2003 and many end-user PCs using Windows XP. All printers are on the network but printing occurs locally, meaning that data sent to a printer does not go through a server.
We could test the problem by copying a chapter to one person's computer and making them the only person who works on it for a day or two. It's just hard to do so because different people have different duties to perform on all files.

  • Entourage 2004 - Authentication Dialog Box

    Hello there,
After clicking Entourage 2004 (connecting to an Exchange Server 2007) from the Dock, it launches and presents the authentication/security dialog box (Account Information) to authenticate. If you click Cancel, you are practically bypassing the authentication process while still reading any off line e-mails and what not.
Is it possible present the authentication/security dialog box before opening Entourage, so if the credentials are right, Entourage should open, if not it should quit to protect E-mail/Calendar/Contacts...
Are there any other means to secure Entourage?
    Thank you

  • How to disable Java Plug-In authentication dialog box ?

    Hi,
I'm using SSL connection with client authentication. Certificate is on hardware device.
I'm providing keystore with cert for SSLContext in my app programmatically.
When I run it from console (java -jar) it works ok.
*When I use it as an applet i get browser prompt (popup dialog) for client certificate.*
How to disable it ? (jre 1.5.0_12 + Firefox + Linux Ubuntu)

-how do you code the access to the keystore ? You have several solutions : SSLContext.init(km, tm, random), or System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStore", value), or implement a KeyManagerFactory. Everything is said in the guide : http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/security/jsse/JSSERefGuide.html
Last solution, running java -Djavax.net.ssl.keyStore=yourkeystore -Djavax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword=yourpassword , but it could not work in applet mode.
-I told you to check the policy, because applets usually have less rights. In the link you said, check such permissions :
    FilePermission, SSLPermission (getSSLSessionContext)
-don't forget rewarding duke stars if that was the right answer :)

  • IS it possible to obtain the username from a authentication  dialog box?

Kind of simple question and I'm looking for a simple answer. Is it possible to obtain the username from the dialob box during java web start or not?

I'm not really sure what you are asking but if you look at the Javadoc of System.getProperties() you will find a property named 'user.name' .

  • Proxy Authentication dialog box displayed very often

    Hello,
since iOS 8.0 / 8.02 our iPads displays very often (somtimes more than 3 times a minute) for proxy authentication credentials.
    We tried it with
    - a payload in our Apple configurator (wifi) profile with automatic proxy config http://proxy/proxy.pac
    - a manual configuration without profile and manual stored credentials and manual proxy configuration in the wifi connection
I think the manual configuration is a little bit better, but still inacceptable.
With iOS 7 and the same iPad and same apple configurator profile we don't have this problems.
    Every help is appreciated.
    Thanks

  • How do I log off the current user and bring back the authentication dialog box for another user to log in on Iplanet webserver?

    I am using JSP.

    Hey there Mike Novack,
My understanding is that she replaced the Windows Login with a fingerprint swipe correct? I found some instructions surrounding this here
So that we can best direct you through the process what operating system are you using on your T61?
If you are using Windows 7, try going to the control panel, then to the biometric devices, click the option to change your biometric device settings and you should be able to disable it there.

  • Can't change default user name on Authentication dialogs

Due to a corrupt user account, I had to create a new user account. I specified a "2" at the end of my full name i.e. "Full Name 2" because I couldn't use the same full name as the corrupt account.
I still haven't deleted the old corrupt one yet just in case I need something, however, now that I am using the new account I renamed the new account to "Full Name" without the "2" at the end of it, but for some strange reason OS X still uses "Full Name 2" on the authentication dialog boxes.
Just to summarise, I do not have an account called "Full Name 2" anymore - I've even updated the contact record - and when I get asked to authenticate via a dialog box, the name defaults to "Full Name 2".
Not sure why it's still doing this and how do I get rid of it - I just it to default to "Full Name".
At the moment I can login with both "Full Name" and "Full Name 2".
I tried deleting some preferences and re-log back in - but this didn't do the trick, but admittedly I may not have trashed the right ones.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

First, I create a new user account via System Preferences -> Accounts. I gave it a different account name and I entered the same full name. It rejected it saying the full name was already in use, so I renamed the full name to "Full Name 2" just to I can create the account.
Then, I logged in to the new account. Tested it, set it up how I wanted it.
Then I logged back in to the old faulty account, and renamed the full name from "Full Name" to "Full Name OLD". I did this via Accounts. I simply double clicked the old account and the edit window showed up. I just renamed the full name field.
I then edited the new account, and renamed the full name field from "Full Name 2" to "Full Name". Since the original account now had a different name, I was now able to rename the new account to the desired name, i.e. without a "2" in it.
However - now it shows a 2 in the default account name whenever I need to authenticate something.

  • Popping up a dialog box on client side for authentication in a proxy server

    hi all,
we have wriiten a code for proxy server.now we want to add the authentication code in the same which will authenticate client by popping up a dialog box on the client side.though no code runs on the client side.only the client has to open the browser and enter the credentials.

  • Adobe Reader XI all dialog box's corrupt

It looks like any dialog box in XI is corrupt.  This machine is windows 7 pro 32 bit OS.
I have uninstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled, used Adobe cleaner on it and reinstalled rebooting each time.  I have installed Segoe font as one user had said resolved their problem in a previous search. Nothing has changed the results.

all dialog box's look like this regardless of which box you pull up.

  • Save as / open dialog boxes crashing

Hi, whenever I choose save as, or open and get the finder box window, if I click the drop down tab to show recent items it crashes whatever program I'm using at the time. I'm on an intel 2 x 2.66 with OS X.4.10

Same issue here. Mine happens only when Saving As from within the confines of a web browser (Firefox or Safari). Can not select the drop-down menu of recent Save locations without getting the eternal spinning beach ball, and ultimately having to do a forced Shutdown and reboot. In addition, can't seem to double-click folders any more (in the same Save As dialog box) to burrow down to the ultimate Save location. Must select the folder then use Command/O, select folder, Command/O, etc. until I get to where I want to save the file to. Another side effect of this behavior seems to be that it (the browser? the O/S?) doesn't remember the last Saved-To location upon doing the next Save As. It jumps up a level, or sometimes two, and I then have to burrow back down manually using the select folder, Command/O, select folder, Command/O sequence again.
Not positive, but I don't think this problem manifested as soon as I upgraded to 10.4.10. But is has started "since" that time. Firefox has been updated during that time, but not Safari. I'm thinkin': something corrupt in the O/S? Repair permissions had no effect.
    Any thoughts are appreciated.

How I can diable in firefox dialog box "download error could not be saved, because the source file could not be read. " standart download manager when file not downloaded

It is possible that anti-virus software is corrupting downloaded files or is interfering otherwise.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
    See:
You can try to set the browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone pref on the <b>about:config</b> page to false.

  • KB2909210 on Server 2008 R2 breaks my intranet sites and print dialog box

Let's try this again.  I have been asking the following question of Microsoft and every time I do, I have only been told to try another forum.
I have several intranet sites that my users use for various data entry and querying purposes.  I installed Internet Explorer 10 onto my 2008 R2 Terminal Server over this past weekend (10/18/2014) which also installed the Security Update KB2909210
and rebooted the server.  On Monday morning (10/20/2014), when my terminal users logged into the sites, the sites began malfunctioning.  All the dropdown arrows turned into question marks.  Some fields which normally have a small "x"
on the right-hand side used to erase the data entered in the text field were also displaying as question marks.  The objects still functioned but it was disconcerting to my users.  The update also slowed down these same intranet sites to where it
began interfering with productivity.  I activated Compatibility View for all intranet sites, but it did not resolve the problem.
I also found that when my terminal users tried to print a pdf document from the intranet sites, the print dialog box was jumbled and no fields were pre-populated with data like they always are when printing.  I updated to the latest Adobe Reader, but
the print dialog box remained jumbled.
All of my users with stand-alone PCs have IE 10 installed and the intranet sites work fine.  The sites display properly and process quickly, and the print dialog box is not jumbled.  It is only my terminal users who log in from a thin client
to their profiles on the server and use the IE version installed on the server who have the problem with IE10.  The KB2909210 Update is not installed on, and does not come up as, an update for any of my stand-alone Windows 7 PCs.
I uninstalled IE 10 from my server, but since this was one of my production servers, I could not restart it until after the plant was shut down for the evening forcing my users to suffer with the slowness for the day.  This morning (10/21/2014) the
intranet sites are working fine through IE 9.  I also had to revert back to Adobe Reader v9.5 as the v11 (and v10) print dialog box does not display properly in IE 9.
I do not want to stay on IE 9 on my server as IE9 gets more un-secure by the day and we've found IE 11, on any of our machines, to be too buggy.
How can I install IE 10 with its security updates and prevent it from breaking my intranet sites and print dialog box?  What is so different about Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 that IE 10 causes this corruption of intranet sites and the print dialog
box on the Server but not on the Win 7 machines?
    The bulletin here:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/library/security/ms14-011
is useless for determining why it breaks my intranet sites. Nor does it explain why the update destroys the print dialog box.

    Hi,
In my opinion, it's hard to say your problem caused by KB2909210. Have you tried to uninstall this update for test if your intrant site's problem resolved?
If your problem truthfuly caused by this updates, you can choose to hid the update as a workaround method.
