Corrupt File issue - Mainly PDF

Has anyone encountered issues downloading PDFs from their site?
We are having several issues, particularly with PDF files where they open fine from the local computer, but after posting to the site, you get a corrupt file message when you try to open it.
I am not sure if this is a PDF issue, a Portal issue, an IE issue or what. Wondering if anyone else has experienced it.

Thank you for the advice. We have run into that frequently with files on the Portal, but that is not the case with these PDFs.
We are now going to try and put a sniffer on the whole process and see if there are any packets being dropped along the way. That is the only way we can make sense of the issue, since a file will work for one person but not another.
We've synched browsers, Adobe version etc... as well.

5800 corrupt file issue.

recently i had installed battery monitor on my memory card. But when i connected my phone to pc via pc suite and synchronized my contacts i found some duplicate files of this app. When i tried removing the duplicate files it said ' file is corrupted' .
So what i did was i uninsualled d application. But this dint solve d issue. So later i connected my phone via mass storage mode and checked my memory card for errors. And when i saw in applications d corrupted file was gone . But now d problem is when i tried to re install d same app how ever it gets installed but it never diplays in applications. No icon nor app name.
Now wat should i do to re install d same. I need this application. Help out. Thanks in advance.

PDFMaker missing files issue with PDF Forms from Office 2007

Hi,
I have Adobe PDF 8.0 Pro installed (full installation) and I upgraded office from 2003 to 2007 AND Windows from 2000 to XP Pro.
I used to be able to create PDF Forms from an Excel document when using Office 2003.
Now, when I choose to create a new form starting with an electronic document [from an Excel 2003 document (.xls)], I get this error message:
"PDFMaker files are missing, would you like to repair?" (please image attached)
I did the repair. Did not worked.
I made sure the add-in in office was enabled. Did not worked.
I un-installed Adobe 8.0 Pro and Adobe Reader 9.0 and re-installed only Adobe 8.0 Pro , thinking there was a problem there. Did not work.
I googled for more answers, did not find anything else.
I am able to "print as Adobe PDF", I can create normal PDF documents, but not the Forms.
I used that option all the time for work. Can someone help me please?!!

I updated to 8.1.6 and now I can use an electronic document to create a form.

I have another question: in the past, to enable Acrobat READER users to fill out a form and save it on their computer, all I had to do is "Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader" in the "advanced" menu of Acrobat Pro.
I did just that but my colleagues who have Adobe Reader 9 cannot fill the form. It appears as a scanned PDF document to them.
Any idea why?!

Corrupt file issue

Hello,
I've been working on project document for past few weeks, everything was fine till today morning. But when I reached school and tried opening the file, I got a 'Not a valid InDesign file/Cannot recognize file format' error. There was no 'crash' as such in the morning. Also, the file info shows the right ID icon, correct extension with correct file size. Its been a terrible day, as I have to finish of the document mail it today in any case. I tried checking for abnormalities in the file using TextEdit and comparing it with other ID files I have (they all open fine), and there seems to be some gibberish in the beginning. Can anyone take a look at the file and help me recover it? Since there was no crash, I'm pretty optimistic. If theres someone who can help, just reply back and I'll email the file. Thanks.

I have seen this issue in the past, but normally in the case of files which were improperly transferred, either by email or ftp, etc. without first having been stuffed or zipped. In those cases, removing the first 128 bytes using a hex editor (NOT a text editor), and saving the file did the trick. If you'd like to zip the file and send it to me, I'll be happy to try that. Archive Corrupt Files

I tried to download CS5.5 Creative Suite that I purchased back in 2012. After 8 hours of downloading, it came back and said. This archive is corrupt. Not only that I previously downloaded the software on 2 other computers and I am having a hard time in getting the Creative Suite on this computer.
1. Why am I downloading a corrupt file issue.
2. I need to download and install Creative Suite on new computer, but has been previously installed twice on 2 other devices that I no longer use or have.

Firefox PDF viewer (plugin) corrupts files upon download

This is a bug report. We have found that PDF files opened in the Firefox built-in viewer (plug-in) can become corrupted when downloaded using the 'Download' icon on the upper right-hand corner of the screen. When we attempt to open one of these damaged files using Acrobat, this error message is displayed:
'There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired.'
If we instead download the file by right-clicking in the viewer plug-in and select 'Save Page As...' the file is downloaded undamaged.

Someone should agitate for uplifting the fix to Firefox 25. I've probably saved dozens of PDFs this way, some of which may be dynamically generated during a transaction and now unrecoverable. !!

I’m using version 11.0.10. So where the Menu resides in a folder ready to be burnt on to a CD, that same folder is where the links point to.

InDesign issue outputting pdf's with EPS in file.

So just recently one of my files that has an .eps placed in it was getting errors exporting to pdf, it used to work fine in one of the files I had it. I even re-created the .eps and replaced it to see if it would work. This file had the same problem on another MBP as well. It exports fine when i resave the exact .eps as an .ai, so Im curious if anyone else had problems with any exports like this.
The really strange thing is that another file very similiar with a different placed .eps in it (the .eps are both UPC's) will work fine. It seems like it is a corrupt file, but I have literally rebuilt the entire file and it does it every time.
I am using CS2, with all the latest updates.

So then, how do I export to .idml? ... Im not seeing that as an export option (CS5). <-- Found it, its under export, just didn't see it. Ill be back and post results.

SO: Export the .indd file as an InDesign Markup file. Close the original .indd w/o saving. Open the newly created InDesign Markup file and re-save it as the .indd that you want to export. After re-saving, re-export the newly saved .indd. IT WILL NAME IT CORRECTLY... Thanks, that was driving me nuts.

Issue Bursting PDF file using delivery channel - filesystem

I have an issue happening randomly with the files that are created by the bursting process in the filesystem path mentioned in the bursting control file.
The PDF file that is the input to the Bursting process looks normal.
However the splitted PDF file created by bursting in the filesystem is having the font all messed up.
The input pdf file has multiple invoices. The issue is seen in one of the invoice that got bursted.
Can anyone give me some input into the cause of this issue. should anything be changed in the bursting control file.

A few questions: Are you using an xsl-fo template or a RTF template? Doesn't location need to point to the complete path, including the template name? Is the path specified below in your post complete?

I am having issues converting my word file into a pdf.

I am having issues converting my word file into a pdf. When I attempt the conversion the pdf download has text boxes overlapping each other. The word file does not have overlapping text boxes. I believe it is the margins of my word file but I am not certain. How can I accurately edit my word file then convert it into a pdf without the overlapping issue occuring?

Opening PDF files - Issue????

Using Photoshop CS4
Using Illustrator CS4
I am opening a pdf file in photoshop, but found that part of it was not opening correctly.
I have a PDF, with three images/objects. 1 image/object is on the canvas, the other 2 are off the canvas. You can view the PDF in Illustrator and see all the images/objects. But when you open the PDF in Photoshop only the image/object on the canvas is shown. Why? Is there a special option that needs to be set to allow everything off the canvas to be shown.
Now I did do a test. I had an image off the canvas (pdf file), I can open that up in photoshop and the image/object appears. But if I add an object to the pdf file and put it on the canvas, now when you open the pdf file in photoshop - it now only shows the image/object on the canvas.
When you open the PDF file in Adobe Reader 9.1 or Acrobat Standard 8.1 it also will only show what is on the canvas vs what illustrator shows.
Any ideas?

Tried PDFOpenOptions.cropPage and it did not work. Also tried all of the other options with the same results.
This is actually even happening if you open the file natively in Photoshop (no scripting).
We have also tried an AI (Illustrator CS4) file and found the same results. But here is the puzzling information. If you take the AI file and saveas (convert it) a version 8 EPS (or version 14) file and then open it in Photoshop, all objects now appear regardless if they are on the artboard or not.
But per the requirements of our digital departments manager, we need to open the original file (either a PDF, AI) - no conversion allowed.
Are there any options in Photoshop to set to open the file in it's original state, regardless if the objects are on the artboard or not - just open with all??????
Any help would be grateful.

Corrupted characters when combining pdfs

I am trying to combine a set of files into one pdf document. Each pdf file was created from Microsoft word and they all display perfectly as single files.
However when I combine all the pdfs into one document a lot of the text becomes corrupted and displays as square boxes instead of the correct characters.
Can anybody help please?

I am not sure Preflight is part of Standard. If it is, you will find it under the Advanced menu. However, it appears that the embed fonts is not one of the profiles for AA8. AA9 has an embed fonts profile. If you have all of the original files available, the fastest approach might be to go back to the original files and recreate the PDFs, selecting the Press or Print job options. For combining, you may have to change the job options to not embed subsets. Sometimes the use of subsets causes problems when combining. Before you waste time on a whole set of files, I would suggest you play with 1 or 2 to see if things work out. I hope this process resolves your issues. Basically, all I am suggesting is what I would try to make it work. You can also use ctrl-D in Acrobat to get the document properties and check the font embedding under the font tab. If it does not say embedded, then it is not embedded.

I seem to have a corrupt file(s) which cause my MacBook Pro to freeze inexplicably (and randomly) upon start-up. I've been told that this is a symptom of having a corrupt file.

This is an old post and I am not the person who posted the original query, but I ran your terminal diagnostic and am hoping you are still attending to this forum. I have a mid 2011 macbook Air 11", 256 GB SSD, 1.8 GHz Intel Core i7, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, Mac OS X v. 10.7.5 Lion. I have had various problems in my user homefolder for a while. I have gone through quite a few other troubleshooting and fixing steps, the most extensive following a posting here "Step by Step to fix your mac" by ds store in the Apple forums. These steps helped a lot. I did remove some 3rd party software as part of this process.
My computer is running well in general now, but one thing that has been a recurring problem is problems with move/cut-paste. I researched this online and ACL's being present where they're not supposed to be seems to be an issue. I have used terminal commands to remove ACL's, used Onyx to repair user permissions, rebooted with command-r to reset password screen and reset user permissions. They all help, but then a some point later on the problem recurs. When I run repair disk permissions with either disk utility or onyx I always get this message:

I have removed NoSleep, Caffeine, itunesHelper and Dropbox from login items before and didn't notice any difference, so I put them back. Some of these I know I don't want, like rim/blackberry, adobe AIR. Skype has never worked consistently on this computer. I don't use most of these Services, and I know I had trouble with some that were not compatible with Lion before. I am not using Parallels much now, have been thinking about taking it off as it uses a chunk of my SSD. But I don't feel confident about getting rid of .frameworks etc safely.
I am glad to remove anything I don't use if I know how to do it safely. I am willing to remove anything I do use if it's necessary, but obviously would prefer to find a way to keep things that I find helpful.
I appreciate any suggestions!
