Corrupt file Unable to Download

Itunes; 'cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist"
Norton Alert "itunes.exe- Corrupt File the file or directory ( ipod_controlitunes/playcounts is corrupt"
Itunes recommended updated to newer version-which I did, tried to sync with ipod, these two alerts came up. I can still play music files on computer but cannot transfer to ipod. I dont want to lose the music files. otherwise I would uninstall itunes and reinstall it. Thanks

With luck this will help:

How do I get refunded for an error message like this on an itunes download?

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not downloading properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the entry, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.
(Not entirely sure what happens after you click that link, but fingers crossed it should be relatively straightforward.)

  • Corrupt File Error when Downloading TV Episode

I will always get to 330-40 MB of downloading the season finale to Deadwood Season 2, and I will get unable to download part of the file is corrupt. Is there any thing I can do to download the rest of the episode? Or is this a problem on Apples end?

I'm having the same problem with the second episode of "The Venture Bros." season 3. It makes it to 80.1 MB, then tells me there was an error in downloading and that the file may be corrupted. The dialog box tells me to choose "check for purchases" from the "store" menu to re-download the file. When I do this, iTunes starts downloading the file again, from the 70 MB point, and when it gets back up to 80.1 the same error message pops up.
I've tried deleting the file in the downloads window, but this doesn't seem to have any effect. It does not actually get rid of the content that has already been downloaded. I think that if I could find the file that contains the partial download in the Finder and delete that then iTunes would (maybe) restart the download from the beginning and (maybe) it would get all the way through. Does anyone know where those files are stored?
    Thanks,
    Blake.

  • Corrupted file unable to remove from trash because it is running.  Unable to shut it down.

I had recently converted some video tapes into dvds as well as disks that I could download onto the computer.  I did not realize that I installed a dvd into the drive instead of the downloadable disk when I asked the computer to download the files.  Instead of not performing the task, the computer partially download the dvd.  Now I have this file on my desktop and when I put it into trash I can't remove it from trash because it is running.  In other words there is a corrupted file that I have no way of stopping or deleting.   Any suggestions?  I could leave this file alone but since it is running I'm not sure how much memory it is diverting.

What is the name of the file? If you open Activity Monitor, set to All Processes, then is it displayed in the Name list?
Restarting kills all running processes. If this is not a system file, then you have it installed somewhere that is launching it automatically upon startup. You should look in your /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/ folder or your /Library/LaunchAgents/ or /Library/LaunchDaemons/ folder for a file related to this one. Until you kill that one you will not be able to delete the one are having trouble deleting.
    Exposing the /Home/Library/ Folder
Pick one of the following methods:
    A. This method will make the folder visible permanently. Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and paste the following at the command prompt:
    chflags nohidden ~/Library
    Press RETURN.
    B. Click on the Desktop, press the OPTION (⌥) button, select Library from the Finder's Go menu.
    C. Select Go To Folder from the Finder's Go menu. Paste the following in the path field:
    ~/Library
    Press the Go button.

  • Error 100008 - Corrupt file message when downloading iTunes

I just got my video ipod, and when i went to download music on it at iTunes, every song (4 in total) that I tried to download failed to do so, but took my money. All I got was this message,

The file seems to be corrupted. To reload file, choose 'Check for Purchases' from Store menu."
I tried "Check for Purchases several times for each song, but I just got the same message each time. When i went to the Downloads screen there was this message besides each song.

  • Corrupted File Error when Downloading Movie

I have tried numerous times to download "Sweet Home Alabama" in the past few days and each time it gets to the end I get an error that the file appears to be corrupted. In the iTunes download window, it shows error -100008 under Status. I have reported to Apple and they have not been alot of help.
    I have tried:
    -reinstalling iTunes (yes, latest version)
    -the firewall is off
    -no web acceleration software
-I have Comcast cable for ISP
Just a few days before I had downloaded another movie with no problem. The only thing that changed after that was I installed the latest iTunes update and set up my TV. I tried unsyncing the TV so it wasn't listed to see if that made a difference, but it didn't. Any suggestions on what to do? I don't want to spend money on movies, if I can't be certain of downloading them.
    Thanks.
    Barbara

I am having a similar problem downloading the Men's Single Final from 1980 Borg vs. McEnroe from the iTunes Store. I tried purchasing the file a few months ago and had the same problem. Apple credited the purchase and I was hoping they had solved the problem, but no luck this time either. I guess it is the curse of John McEnroe.

  • Corrupted file won't download...

One of the songs I downloaded will not download correctly. I keep getting the error that it is corrupted and download it from Store. When I do, the file looks like it downloads, but then the error pops up again. I can't go and re-purchase the song because it says it is already sitting in my Store. What do I do?

  • Corrupt file message when downloading song

I keep getting an error message that the file may be corrupted when I try to purchase from the itunes store.
It appears that the recent itunes software update is not working right with my computer. I have even tried to download after I shut off my internet software. To no avail.
Can I get a refund if I keep having problems and not getting my songs? Any help appreciated.

probably the best thing to do with a #10008 is to report it directly to the store. using purchase history or the email form at the bottom of the following FAQ would both work fine (use "other" in the message number field, and cite the number in the text of your message):

    Please!

If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem.

  • Unable to download corrupted files error 100000

I have 5 purchases from iTunes that will not download. Whenever I open iTunes, they begin to download, and then error code -100000 pops up saying the files are corrupted. I have tried going to users/music/itunes/itunesmusic/downloads. But the files aren't there. I read that if you can find where the files are on your system then you can delete them and re-download the intact files.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

This is a huge problem for Apple. It's happening to me all the time. They've given me track credits several times, and so far I haven't been able to use them all up because the new tracks that I pick to buy with my credits have the same problem!
Sometimes you can tell beforehand when a file won't download because it's corrupt, if you try to preview it it doesn't play. Other times it plays fine in preview but you can't download it.
I think these guys made some big changes to the iTunes fileservers and something went wrong. If it happens to you, go to the iTunes support page and do "live chat" and COMPLAIN LOUDLY until you get a refund or a credit, whichever you want. Sometimes they'll credit you right away and other times they'll tell you they can't. That's a lie. They can and MUST give you your choice of a track credit or a refund to your charge card for a bad app download. They've clearly been told to try to drag the conversation out and do everything to avoid refunds, but if you are inisistent they'll eventually give you one.
Be sure to go through the little survey at the end of the chat, it's the only way to get a transcript of the chat emailed to you. You definitely want the chat transcript because these guys will flat-out lie to you and you may need proof of what they said.
This whole mess has really ruined the store for me. It's entirely impulse-driven, and when it's a hassle it just makes me want to go buy from Amazon's MP3 library instead. I've had excellent luck with the iTunes Store, both for music and apps, until the Snow Leopard/iTunes 9 upgrade. Now I have a 10% failure rate for downloads.
Wake up Apple, this is COSTING YOU MONEY!

  • I have firefox V 3.6.24 and can not download new version. Get an Adobe error message about corrupt file?

Using a Mac desktop OS X 10.6. I've made repeated attempts to update software. The download process for Firefox quits and a dialogue box pops up -- saying the new version did not download. File may be corrupt or unable to be decoded??. Process started by clicking on the New Firefox version is available for Free download on Mozilla home page.

More information - the popup box says:
Adobe Reader could not open 'Firefox 8.0-8.dmg' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
The file was downloaded into my "download" folder? Is that related to the problem?
