Corrupt itunes update

just did an update on my mac and get 'this copy of itunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes,' i dont want to lose my library and have time machine - whats the best solution to repair, reinstall?

I tried to install the latest version and had a problem with the install. It would not start one of the services and kept trying to. I tried installing thru apple updater and downloading my own copy, still no go. I restored my drive to a time before the attempted installation and ran a repair of the previous version that was installed. I won't be trying this again either! I hope the next version is better tested than this one.

    Many thanks.
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • ITunes update was corrupted and now I can't update anymore.

    Hi all!
While trying to update iTunes (either by Software Update menu or iTunes itself) it displays the following message:
Both Software Update and iTunes detects that there's an update available. Yet, the message above appears once I click on the Install button.
Any idea how to solve this?
    Many thanks in advanced.

    excellent news.
What I'm not sure now is that the corrupted update data is still somewhere in my Mac or it was replaced by the new installation I did. (Yes, I'm the kind of person who needs to keep control over the computer things)
I don't believe so. I think the trouble with getting the updates is more at the Apple servers end of things with this particular issue. (Reports of this error message come in patterns which seem to suggest that.) So I think you should be okay.
... the acid test will be when the next iTunes update comes out. (It's been around two months since the last one, which seems an unnaturally long time between updates, already.)

My IPOD was corrupted during updating ITUNES. Now all I get on the screen is USB up arrow ITUNES. What can I do?

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Latest itunes update corrupted my itunes!  Tried to download itunes and computer won't accept it!!

Just updated itunes to latest version.  After update, installed, I tried going into itunes and it was corrupt and stated to download itunes again.  Tried that and it failed.  Itunes will not install on my pc.  Up until the itunes update, ALL WAS WELL!

My previous version of iTunes was working fine!  Then, I attempted to download the latest version now 3 times with it failing each time.  I got the corruption error message one time and it hung up two times.  Now I have no iTunes!  This is the first time that I have ever had a serious download problem.  Something must be wrong with the Apple software.

  • ITunes updates are "corrupt"???

I just installed Snow Leopard 10.6.3 (tried twice)....now my iTunes updates are corrupt. I want to load Mountain Lion but need the updates to do so. Help?!!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I've always been a bit queezy about doing an installation via target disk mode. Partly because as far as the installer knows, it is installing to an external hard drive of the Mac you are installing from, and not the machine that is actually target mode. This potentially could cause the wrong drivers to be installed. You may not see it until an update later on which you apply on the system, and when it happens, oops, you have an installation which doesn't work. Instead you should buy the Exchange program disks to run your installation. Those put Tiger on CD, as opposed to DVD. It is found here:
    http://images.apple.com/macosx/pdf/TigerMXorderform20070419.pdf
Here's also my upgrade FAQ* which explains how you should go through updating to avoid problems with them:
    http://www.macmaps.com/upgradefaq.html
I've noted my FAQ doesn't have the latest Media Exchange Program link, but it is above, and hope to change that later.

  • ITunes Music Library corrupted by Update 5.0?

Yesterday iTunes was normal. Late last night Software Update presented me with an update to iTunes (5.0) which I declined to install. This morning, when I launched iTunes several unexpected things happened:
    1. iTunes hung searching for (or loading) the Library for nearly 30 minutes. On launch I saw the loading progress bar, then was busy with other things (in other Spaces desktops) till I noticed it hung. I cancelled this loading operation and continued launching, then...
    2. iTunes reported a damaged Library which would be renamed "iTunes Library (Damaged)" and that a new library would be created.
    3. iTunes very quickly began rebuilding my music database, searching for album art, etc. -- all of which I stopped as quickly as possibly.
    4. iTunes launched with a completely bare browser (new installation: utterly without any of my stuff), which was a shock to say the least, but all the previous occurrences began to add up. I quit iTunes.
    5. I went directly to the Music/iTunes directory and began investigating. I found that...
    6. iTunes had created a brand new file named < iTunes Music Library.xml > at 12:53 PM (it's now 1:53 exactly) and a file named < iTunes Library (Damaged) >.
    7. Previous iTunes libraries I have collected over the years (by manual backup and in Time Machine) are named < iTunes Library.itl > (I assume ".itl" stands for iTunes Library).
    8. I went to System Preferences/Software Update/Installed Software and confirmed that the most recent software update was "Java for Mac OSX 10.6 Update 6 Version 6.0" on 11/11/11; as expected, I had NOT inadvertently installed the unwanted iTunes update last night.
Before I begin bleating my own opinions, I would love to get more informed comments and answers to a few perhaps obvious questions.
    Q1. What happened?
Q2. Could it have been related to the update I declined to install? (Pure coincidence would be positively mystical.)
Q3. If not (Q2), then why the radical change in Library name and tag ( iTunes Library.itl --> iTunes Music Library.xml )?
Q4. Can I use my manual backups (or Sync, or Time Machine) to restore the previous Library and get my hard-wrought, very coveted collections back as they were? If yes, how? If no, what then?
I do not yet plan to update my Mac OS to Lion for a number of reasons (therefor making the Apple Cloud service unavailable to me), so I'd intended to be cautious about related updates, such as the updates to iTunes, iPhone (...) and wait a bit. The DotMac/MobileMe account I've had since the beta days will remain active till summer and I figured I'd have plenty of time to think about it and to formulate a strategy for dealing with dreaded software/hardware obsolescence issues and so on.
Thanks to the community for any help forthcoming.

    Some clarifications (hopefully):
The iTunes update flashed by me pretty fast on the night of Nov 15 as I quickly chose not to accept it. I seem to have mistaken the version number. The newest version of iTunes showing at the Apple site is 10.5.1 (I thought I'd seen a 5.0, but obviously not). I just looked in the Applications folder at the iTunes app version; it's 10.5, and the Date Modified is October 12, 2011. As mentioned above, System Preferences/Software Update/Installed Software shows no recent update to iTunes. It seems Software Update was trying to update iTunes to version 10.5.1 on the night of Nov 15th..
Also, I spent a bit more time today trolling about some loosely related discussions on these lists, and believe I might have misunderstood the three types of file I mentioned, so I looked more closely at them:
    Music/iTunes Folder:
    < iTunes Music Library.xml > Shows created Aug 3, 2008, modified Nov 16 at 12:53 PM.
    < iTunes Library.itl > Shows created (12:52) and modified (12:53) yesterday (Nov 16.).
< iTunes Library (Damaged) > Shows created Oct 12, 2011, modified Nov 15, 2011 at 7:55 PM (when update was cancelled).
    Applications Folder: iTunes (app) - version 10.5 - created Jan 14, 2008, modified Oct 12, 2011 (Finder info);
System Preferences/Software Update/Installed Software: iTunes 10.5 installed Oct 12, 2011 (nothing more recent)
Why was the "iTunes Library (Damaged)" file created a _month_ ago and only modified when I declined the iTunes 10.5.1 update? I can't get any sense from this. Now past 2 AM on the 17th. I'm calling it a day on this. Hope to get iTunes up and running soon.

  • I attempted to perform the itunes update on two different PCs and itunes will no longer open and I received a message to reinstall itunes. The reinstall did not work and I now receive a Runtime error message (R6034) re: library loading incorrectly. Help?

I attempted to perform the itunes update on two different PCs. Itunes will no longer open and prompted me to reinstall itunes.  The reinstall did not work after several attempts and I received an error: "Runtime error R6034. An application has made an attempt to load the C Runtime library incorrectly. Please contact the application's support team for more information."  Has anyone else had this issue? How can I resolve it?

I've been having the same exact problem this morning, and from the looks of it a lot of other people are posting about this issue, so I don't know if it's maybe something wrong with the download but I'm just relieved that it seems to be that instead of a corruption issue with my windows installation.  I'm just wondering how long this will take to be resolved.

  • After latest iTunes update I get error message when syncing:

"iTunes could not sync information to the iPhone "name" because a connection could not be established to the iPhone". Same for my iPad, same for both even after upgrading to IOS6.0. Any ideas?
I tried to carry out a restore on the iPhone but iTunes cannot back it up.
Is the latest iTunes broken? or is it just me?
I am on Windows 7 64 bit, Never had this problem till the latest iTunes update.

So I am unclear, did you purchase these songs or import them from a cd?
If you imported them and still have the CD try importing them again and see if they work the delete the others.
Or if you purchased from itunes re-dowwnload and see if they work. Maybe they are corrupted files and this should resove it.

  • After the last iTunes update, I lost EVERYTHING in my iTunes library (music, videos and podcasts). How do I get them back?

iTunes was just updated on my Windows 7 and now I lost EVERYTHING in my music library. All of my music that I added and purchased, all my videos (TV shows) and all of my podcasts (some of them are older podcasts that I was saving to listen to for later and I can't ever get them back because I don't subscribe to them now). How do I get all my files back? I'm so upset! I had a similar issue a earlier this year with an iTunes update. I wish I can keep everything the way it is without ever having to update the program. I either lose ALL my files or the program doesn't work right.
    Please help me.
    Thanks,
    Jenny

  • Download new itunes update and now it wont let me sync

Download new itunes update and now it wont let me sync. Keeps saying I need 26gb of free space which it didn't say before I downloaded the update. It doesn't make sense. It keeps saying:
The iPod cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library. (additional 26gb required)
This makes no sense because before the new itunes update there was no problem with me not having enough space. I have 5gb of free space now and I had 5gb of free space before I downloaded the itunes update. Nothing should've changed. And I should not need an extra 26gb of space. How do i fix this problem so I can my ipod normally again.

Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
    Come back with the results.
