Corrupt? No files, but memory is used?

When i go into "music" or "videos" on my ipod there are no files, but the memory is still used up (21gb used 9gb left)!!
I think my ipod files are corrupt, is there any way of getting them back? "un-corrupting" them??
Also i had to recently clear my pc of music because it was taking up too much memory so i only had my music on my ipod!!
HELP!!!!
cheers

I've had the same problem many times. It seems to be caused by connecting a USB drive to the PC - in my case it was a Motorola Cellphone that appears as a drive.
Uninstall iTunes from your PC, and then re-install it. It will find your library and sync with your iPod properly.

  • How do I move files to memory stick using Vista

Can anyone throw any light on my new problem .
I am using Windows Vista Home on my Toshiba Satellite 350 and I am trying to save a file to memory stick.
I locate the correct file and click on ' send to removable disc '
I then get an 'Item not found ''box which contains the message ,
''Could not find this item This item is no longer located in C:\Users\Desktop.
I ( Or wherever am looking) Verify the items location and try again''
I have checked the location and I have the correct one .
I have tried this many times with different types of files/locations and I get a similar message every time I try to move the file to anywhere , not just the memory stick
I have tried dragging the files in to the box and get the same message ,copying and pasting does not work I still get the same message ?
Whatever am I doing wrong ?

    Thank you for the reply
Yes, I do know how to copy and paste but as you see from my question I get an 'Item not found ''box popoping up which contains the message
''Could not find this item This item is no longer located in C:\Users\Desktop. I ( Or wherever am looking) Verify the items location and try again''
BUT the files are there .

  • Music not showing up on ipod, but memory is used up

i have a 4G nano, and when i plug it into itunes it shows that there isn't any music on my ipod, but it reads that all the memory is used up. do i need to reset or restore to original settings?

Yes, definetely try restoring your iPod using your iPod Updater. Check this link out:
    Restoring iPod to Factory Settings.
Restoring will delete all the music off your iPod, but will not affect the iTunes library.
If you have any issues with restoring your iPod, just tell me, and I'll try to help you.

  • Corrupt log file, but how does db keep working?

We recently had a fairly devastating outage involving a hard drive failure, but are a little mystified about the mechanics of what went on with berkeleydb which I hope someone here can clear up.
A hard drive running a production instance failed because of a disk error, and we had to do a hard reboot to get the system to come back up and right itself (we are running RedHat Enterprise). We actually had three production environments running on that machine, and two came back just fine, but in one, we would get this during recovery:

We thought, well, perhaps this is related to the disk error, it corrupted a log file and then died. Luckily (or so we thought) we diligently do backups twice a day, and keep a week's worth around. These are made using the standard backup procedure described in the developer's guide, and whenever we've had to restore them, they have been just fine (we've been using our basic setup for something like 9 years now). However, as we retrieved backup after backup, going back three or four days, they all had similar errors, always starting with [4096]. Then we noticed an odd log file, numbered with 4096, which sat around in our logs directory ever since it was created. Eventually we found a good backup, but the customer lost several days' worth of work.
My question here is, how could a log file be corrupted for days and days but not be noticed, say during a checkpoint (which we run every minute or so)? Doesn't a checkpoint itself basically scan the logs, and shouldn't that have hit the corrupt part not long after it was written? The system was running without incident, getting fairly heavy use, so it really mystifies me as to how that issue could be sitting around for days and days like that.
For now all we can promise the customer is that we will automatically restore every backup as soon as it's made, and if something like this happens, we immediately try a graceful shutdown, and if that doesn't come back up, we automatically go back to the 12-hour-old backup. And perhaps we should be doing that anyway, but still, I would like to understand what happened here. Any ideas?

Please note, I don't want to make it sound like I'm somehow blaming berkeleydb for the outage-- we realize in hindsight there were better things to do than go back to an old backup, but the customer wanted an immediate answer, even if it was suboptimal. I just feel like I am missing something major about how the system works.

  • Invalid or COrrupt JAR file

I have one jar file of java classfiles created in eclipse. Its working fine with eclipse after giving Run Configuration (main class).
But when I try to run jar file from command prompt its giving me error - ' Invalid or corrupt jar file'
I have edited Manifest.mf for adding Main-Class also.
I have also checked in Tools-->folder option-->File Types-->Selecting Jar-->Advanced-->Edit and given the correct path of javaw.exe like - "D:\SDP75\jdk\bin\javaw.exe" -jar "%1" %*. The same jdk used for compling the classes.
Please help me. I have done volumes of googling for this. This is very crtytical to me.

But it doesn't when you attempt to run it as an executable jar.

As a guess that is the problem. You messed up that file.
Or you are not running the same thing in both cases.

  • Corrupt sparseimage file (not same old Filevault issue)

I'm having a problem -- I have a corrupt Sparseimage file, but none of the solutions that others have proposed have worked.
No matter what I try, it keeps getting reported as corrupt.
For example, the "half mount" tip that others have used to recover things:
    $ sudo hdid -nomount SecureSparse.sparseimage
    Password:
hdid: attach failed - corrupt image
That's all I can get. Launching it in the finder gives me the same thing, only in a dialog box.
Trying to verify or repair it in Disk Utility does the same.
The most verbose response I've gotten out of any utility is this:
    $ hdiutil convert -format UDZO -verbose -o disk.dmg SecureSparse.sparseimage

I am somewhat desperate here. I have several backups of this sparse file, but they are ALL CORRUPTED IDENTICALLY. (My machine syncs to the backup server every night, and apparently it synced after the corruption happened, and clobbered the un-corrupted version.)
Does anyone have any idea how to interpret the above messages? I'd be interested in just knowing why this happened for a start, and in what way the file is corrupted...I'm willing to invest significant resources in recovering the data.
Most of the recovery utilities I've seen will only work if Mac OS X will partially mount the image, and that isn't the case here.

  • Error message says I have to delete a corrupt backup file?

Error message says I have to delete a corrupt backup file, but under my preferneces & under my devices, there is no old backup file to delete, so I can't delete a corrupt one if i dont have any?!

I know this is a late reply was wondering if you had the problem still as I have been having this problem for many months.  Today I was looking around getting ****** off why it was not working and I found my culprit and thought I would see if it would help you.  Not sure if you, like me, changed your itunes media store location somewhere other than the default location.  What I noticed was in Users>UserName>AppData>Roaming>AppleComputer>MobileSync there was a backup folder with a shared link icon on it and when I double clicked on it windows promptly brought up an error that its location was not valid.  So I figured since it was not valid and I did not have any backups anyways I deleted the folder and then went to itunes and tried a sync and it worked perfectly again.  The backup folder was re-created properly and the stupid corrupt error went away.

  • Sending DME file to the bank using RFFOUS_T?

    Hi all,
I understand that we use RFFOUS_T to create the DME file but do we use the RFFOUS_T to send the generated DME file to the bank as well? I mean the RFFOUS_T is not linked to the banking system right? Is it I should use t-code: FDTA to download the DME file to my local PC and email the downloaded DME file to the bank? Anyone can clarify on this?
    Thanks.

Yes.  You can use RFFOUS_T to generate the payroll DME file (use the pre-DME program first, of course).  Then, as you said, go to FDTA to download and send to the bank.

  • How do i retrieve file vault protected files from an external hard disk that used to be my mbp's hard drive? the hard disk got corrupted and will no longer boot. I put it in an enclosure and attempted to copy my files but failed because of FV encryption.

This external hard disk used to serve as the main drive of my mbp. It got corrupted and the OSX would no longer load. I upgraded to a 500gb hd and used the old hd as an external drive. I tried to copy my files but i could not access them because of the filevault encryption. 110gb of hd space appears as used which means that my files are still in the drive. Is there a way to retrieve these files? thanks

According to your post, you're using Leopard, so FileVault only encrypts your user folder (unlike Lion). On the mounted external drive, in your user folder, you should see a file called username.sparsebundle, with username being your user name. Double-click that file to open it and it should prompt you for a password. Type in your password and the file will mount as a volume in Finder. You should be able to copy all of your files over.

  • Attempting to upgrade to Firefox 3.6 (using an ancient Mac OS 10.3), but received an error message (corrupt image file) when downloading - any way to correct this with my current OS?

I'm currently trying to update a few programs on my good old (VERY old) Mac Powerbook, but I ran into an error when downloading Firefox version 3.6...I'm currently running Mac OS X 10.3.9, which isn't compatible with the most recent versions of Firefox (or anything, for that matter), but it should still allow an upgrade of version 3.6; however, once the file finished downloading, an error message popped up indicating there's a corrupt image file. Is there any way to work around/correct this problem, or am I stuck with my old version of Firefox until I bite the bullet and upgrade my OS??? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Firefox 3.6 requires at least OS X 10.4, the last version of Firefox that runs on OS X 10.3.9 is Firefox 2.0.0.20 available from https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0.0.20/mac/en-US/

Does anyone have any idea of what works?

Realised pretty soon some thing was not right with images but continued work flow with out problems with any other import
    Exactly what was not right?
Most likely a hardware problem causing corruption in the transfer of files from SD card to your computer. It could be the SD card itself, card reader, hard disk or memory.
    Side issue:
Open Lightroom 4 on macbook air import to HD
Drag and drop in Lightroom on to external HD
why don't you save yourself a step and import directly to the external HD (and thus also produce one less place where file corruption can happen)?
