Corrupt project - how to go about fixing it?

Hi all. I think I have a project which is slowly going corrupt. Anyone ever seen that?
System: Dual 2-gig (late 2004 vintage), 2 gig RAM, OS 10.3.9, FCP 4.5/HD.
What's happening is that while I'm editing, many anamalous things are happening. For instance, if I make an edit, and then want to undo it, sometimes the undo doesn't undo. Sometimes the mistake is still there...but it's not, really! I mean, the timeline shows the clip I mistakenly edited, even after I've hit CNTL-Z, and sometimes if I play that piece, the mistaken clip really is still there...but sometimes it's not; the clip that's present on the timeline isn't the one I'm watching...and when I highlight and delete the clip, voila, the clip that's supposed to be there magically reappears (on the timeline...I can usually always see the correct video). And sometimes when I do a "fit to fill", I not only get the fit to fill clip, it does an extra ripple insert, too. Usually this can be undone, but not all the time...
I should add here that, despite all these anamolies, the timeline plays all the way through. It doesn't stop, freeze up, stutter, or exhibit any sort of playback problems.
Now, before we go any further, DON'T tell me to trash my prefs. I've got FCP Rescue at my disposal, and have trashed and restored multiple times. Also, I do not get these sorts of problems happening with other projects I'm currently working on (well, sometimes the non-undo problem crops up, but not nearly as often). For these reasons, I'm thinking that something's up with this particular project.
So earlier this evening I went into the Media Manager, selected choices to make new media to a drive with lotsa space, and to create a new project (to be saved in my FCP Projects folder on the system drive). Clicked OK, and off we went...spent three hours copying media, and then with 8 minutes left got the spinning beachball of death. My guess...FCP encountered whatever was corrupt, and couldn't make a new project.
Anybody got any suggestions? I guess I can limp along, but I'm afraid something REALLY bad is gonna happen...

Now, before we go any further, DON'T tell me to trash my prefs. I've got FCP Rescue at my disposal, and have trashed and restored multiple times.
Before you go any further... you might try trashing the prefs and NOT restoring, in case you've got a glitch in the saved copy. Recreate your prefs when you open FCP.
Might also look at any files that were not copied and see if any of them seem strange.
Aside from that, you could try,
Deleting all render files for the project and re-rendering
Making the footage for the project offline, then reconnecting clips one at a time until you see the problem.

You know sometimes these forums miss the obvious. I have an iPod Classic 160Gb, 6th Gen (MC297), Been in use for some time now, over 10,000 albums plus photos/videos etc. Yesterday I was in the process of adding another album (sync) when for no reason that I could fathom became corrupted, as explained on these posts. I had all the error messages (error 1439), I put it into diagnostic mode, the result being that my HDD could not be accessed, so should be replaced.
Now I tried all the advice here, including attempting to reformat via two different PC's (with iTunes) umpteen times. Until I came across a paragraph within the comments section of a YouTube video on replacing the HDD.
It said to put the iPod into Disk Mode, first; Reset by holding the menu & centre buttons at same time for 7-10 seconds. Once it reboots immediately hold the centre and Pause/Play buttons, after a few seconds it should display Disk Mode screen.
Reconnect to PC, when it shows as a drive, right click choose format, default settings, type in name iPod, select start and it should format (mines did), yet I had tried all of the formatting before without success. Once done restart iTunes and you will be taken to the restore iPod option, (it had failed to restore many times before prior to using disk mode), success, just follow prompts, make sure you are connected to the PC that holds your library for re-syncing. iTunes will let you know if you need to change that anyway.
iPod in the sync process just now and looks to be doing the job, much better that trying to get the case open to replace the HDD that I don't have yet and don't know which type or where to get one. So would advice you folk on here, to get your iPod into 'Disk Mode' especially if you have had the HDD error or unable to restore/format messages.
Never saw any of this method on Apple support.

FCPx crashing on startup, corrupt project, how to recover?

I was working on a project, and added a timecode generator effect on the timeline. While enterting the text in the inspector for the timecode generator, FCPx crashed when I used Command-Return to add a second line of text. After the crash, when trying to restart, it crashes every time after it says it is loading compressor support. I image its crashing because the project is corrupt. If I rename the FCP Projects directory, it will start normally. Now that it is not trying to automatically load the project, it will start up normally, but will still crash if I try to load my project.
How can I recover the project save prior to the crash, without it crashing in the process?

It's OK, I found them and removed the offending transition.
Regarding new creations, they're all stored in ~/Movies/Motion Templates/Transitions
Which begs the question, when will someone set up a site to showcase/allow downloads of Motion 5 published creations?

How can you fix corrupt Project Files in Final Cut Pro X?

Hello All,
I have reason to believe that one of my project files in Final Cut Pro X is corrupt.
How may I begin to resolve this issue? Is there a third party software someone could recommend, like Digital Rebellion (if they have software for FCP X, I'm not sure) that may improve, if not hopefully solve this issue?

among other steps taken I used Corrupt Clip Finder to isolate/remove the culprit and all was OK after that
no idea how/why the file ( which I''d been using over 5 previous versions) became corrupted

13/13.1 ordering of the AutoSaves.
My Edit Menu/Preferences/AutoSave settings were the following to speed things up
Automatically save every minute(s) = 1
Maximum Project Versions = 5
In the Adobe Premiere Elements AutoSave Folder were:
My new video project-1.prel (first and the oldest)
My new video project-2.prel
My new video project-3.prel
My new video project-4.prel
My new video project-5.prel (last and the newest)
I am OK with the first 5 with the maximum project versions = 5, but.....
Since I have set for only 5 versions, where do the subsequent versions go every 1 minute since you continue to
see only the above file names in the Adobe Premiere Elements AutoSave Folder.
My new video project-1.prel
is now the 6th AutoSave and replaces the original first AutoSave.
My new video project-2 prel
is now the 7th AutoSave and replaces the original second Auto Save.
Since I did 7 AutoSaves, this is the last and the newest.
My new video project-3.prel is still the original third AutoSave.
My new video project-4.prel is still the original fourth AutoSave.
My new video project-5.prel is still the original fifth AutoSave.
So, after the generation of the 10 th AutoSave, all the original 5 AutoSave would be gone,
and the My new video project-5.prel would then again become the last and the newest)
As for the question about

Yes, but review the Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disks for the locations of the scratch disc. If same as
project, then those scratch disc will end up in the folder with the AutoSave which has become your project.prel.
A battery failure was at the core of this situation. So you should be OK moving forward.

Depending upon what country that you are in (films can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the film from your iPad and redownload it via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app (or the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes).
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download films, or if you have problems with the re-downloaded version, then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that film and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work (it's been taking some people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

3.1.3.709: How to Verify and Fix a Possibly Corrupted Design?

How to verify and fix, if necessary, a design that is likely to be corrupted? I first suspected I corrupted file when an attempt to reverse-engineer changes from the relation model to the logical did not work. After some investigation I found datamodeler.log file to which the following error was emitted whenever the reverse-engineer button was clicked: 2013-01-28 11:39:32,001 [AWT-EventQueue-0] ERROR MDBAction - java.lang.NullPointerException. This error message is reproducible. There are also additional warnings in the log whenever this particular design is opened such as [Thread-133] ERROR XMLTransformationManager - Unable to load object from XML: ..../model/dw/rel/A864FBB0-411F4EF06C86/table/seg_0/C4046530-1A69-AD31-6127-390C93D8F7F7.xml java.io.FileNotFoundException. The design has been moved from one Data Modeler version to another over the years. It is currently version controlled by SVN but, alas, I have not been able locate a fully functional copy from the repository. (People usually only use forward engineering from the logical model which appears to work fine most of the time.)
I have investigated the design and located a single table object in the relational model that appears corrupted. It cannot be removed from the design with the DataModeler UI (nothing happend when I click on delete on the object menu). I then checked out a testing copy of the design and manually removed all the files with the object identifier in the file name. Additionally, I searched for xml blocks with a reference to the object identifier and deleted the corresponding blocks from those file. After that the reverse-engineering button began to function again. However, I am afraid of commiting a manually edited design to the repository as I am not certain that I have not broken something else.
What is the recommended way to verify a design and fixing problems in it? Starting a new design from scratch is not an option since there is plenty of documentation within the design that cannot be easily obtained elsewhere. I could recreate the broken objects from the data dictionary if I first had a safe way to identify and delete them from the design.

Part of the validation for credit cards is that they need to be registered to exactly the same name and address that you have on your iTunes account, which prepaid cards tend not to be. Do you have a proper credit card that you could use ? Or are iTunes gift cards available in your country so that you could try using them as your payment method ?
Until you have a valid payment method on your account and what you owe iTunes has been paid off then you won't be able to download any item from the store, including free apps (and updates to apps).
