Corrupt PSD files when saving from MacBook Pro

Hey all,
I have a 17" 2.33ghz MacBook Pro that I've had for over a year. Once in a while I use the notebook to do work in Photoshop and then save the PSD over the network to a hard drive in my PowerMac G5.
Then, when I go to open the file on the PowerMac later Photoshop says that it can not open the file because it's not a valid Photoshop Document.
Does anyone have any clues as to why this is happening? I have confirmed that I haven't left the file open on the MBP when trying to access it from the other computer, so that's not the issue.

This issue is well documented and fixed in the OS 10.5.4 update released this week.

  • Xerox 8560DN pauses when printing from MacBook Pro (Maverick update)

Xerox 8560DN pauses when printing from MacBook Pro using the printer connected to a Windows XP machine. The printer is fully shared, however when I print, it goes to PAUSE. It displays...Ready to print > Printing > and it pauses.
The Maverick update has changed lots of unecessary setups. What was perfectly working before, not it causes problems.
    Any solution?

    Carolyn Samit,
I did it several times without any success. I think that the Maverick update damaged something.
I also deleted, added and change all settings... Not working. Xerox does not have a Maverick driver available, but today apple released a Xerox printer software update (Version 2.3). After the installation, nothing changed.

  • I can not transfer files and data from macbook pro to my external hard drive, i can not transfer files and data from macbook pro to my external hard drive , so what should i do ?

i have an external hard disk but whenever i tried to transfer any file or data from macbook to this ext.disk its failed before that i used to have another hard drive with same problem ,then i thought may  be this hard drive is not support mac then i bought a new one which supports mac but still i have same problem what should i do ?

    Ok.
Go into Disk Utility, and make sure you select your external hard drive.
There should be 4 tabs, one being erase. I have taken a screenshot to show you what it should be set to (obviously name it what you like), and set the format to Mac OSX Extended (Journaled) as per the example below & after double checking your in the right drive, you can hit erase. And you're done! *hopefully*

  • Files Have Vanished from MacBook Pro DTP

Using MacBook Pro 10.8.5.  This last monday all the .eps, .pdf, .tif, .jpg, .psd and any other file which is not a font or InDesign Native File JUST VANISHED.  I connect to a Mac Server and don't have this issue seeing these files types resident on it.  Only my Desktop!
Can't find much online about this issue.  Apple Store was no help
I've updated all Adobe CS apps from the Cloud to check that.  Most current version of Java was never installed.
Need some getting these files back.

Files don't just magically vanish, look in your Trash and look on your Time Machine Backup to restore them.

  • Apple TV 2 choppy video playback when mirroring from Macbook Pro (Yosemite) and Macbook Air (Yosemite) but not iOS devices

Video playback is choppy (cuts out every 30-45 seconds) when air playing from both my MacBook Air 1.3 GHz Intel Core i5 running Yosemite and my husbands new MacBook Pro, but runs perfectly when mirroring from any of our iOS devices (iPhone 6+, iPad mini 3, etc.) We have Apple TV 2. This problem just started a few weeks ago, was working fine around Christmas. The problem seems to have coincidentally started right after our son tried plugging in and setting up his Chromecast on our tv. I disconnected the Chromecast, but we still have the problem. All of our software if up to date and I've tried disconnecting blue tooth, we do not have a microwave and our wifi network has a very strong signal. We have an Airport Extreme base station. Is there a solution to our problem?

    Hi leahmturner,
I see that you are experiencing an issue with choppiness while AirPlay Mirroring from your computers to your Apple TV. I have an article that contains some helpful troubleshooting steps for you regarding this issue:
About AirPlay Mirroring in OS X - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201343
    Optimizing image quality
    Resolution matching modes
You can choose between two desktop resolution matching modes that let you select which display will have the best image. When AirPlay Mirroring is turned on, select an option under "Match Desktop Size To:" in the AirPlay Mirroring menu extra.
Match Desktop Size To: Apple TV
AirPlay Mirroring changes the desktop resolution to best match your Apple TV, resulting in a 16:9 image that fills the HDTV screen. This setting often produces the sharpest image on the HDTV. The aspect ratio and/or resolution of the built-in Mac display may change to accommodate the Apple TV.
Match Desktop Size To: This Mac
AirPlay Mirroring scales the contents of the desktop to fit on the Apple TV, leaving the resolution of your Mac's display unchanged. Use this setting for the sharpest image on your Mac's display. Depending on your Mac model, the resulting image may not fill the HDTV screen.
    Troubleshooting AirPlay Mirroring
If you don't see mirroring options
If your Mac and Apple TV are on the same network, but no AirPlay Mirroring menu appears, your Apple TV may be asleep. Simply press a button on your Apple TV remote to wake it up. After a few seconds, the AirPlay Mirroring menu extra appears. If you still don't see the options you expect, make sure your Apple TV has the current software update installed. Also make sure that you have the "Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available" option selected in the Displays pane of System Preferences.
If the menu bar or Dock is cropped
Some HDTVs have bezels that cover a small percentage of the screen. This can result in a slight cropping of a full-resolution HDTV image. Depending on the HDTV model, AirPlay Mirroring may automatically adjust the picture size to prevent cropping.  If you are using OS X Mountain Lion or later, and you see cropping of the menu bar or Dock when using AirPlay Mirroring, toggle the Overscan correction option in Displays preferences.
    Minimize video post-processing
HDTVs often apply picture quality enhancements intended to improve the look of film and video sources. In some cases, these enhancements can lead to over-sharpening artifacts when displaying your Mac desktop. Some HDTV models have built-in settings to change or disable the enhancements for use with a computer (computer, presentation, or game modes). Otherwise, the controls for sharpness, detail enhancement and noise reduction can be used to optimize the appearance of the Mac desktop. Consult your HDTV’s manual for guidance on the appropriate settings for use with a computer.
    Firewall security settings
If you use a firewall, make sure the following firewall security options have been set to allow AirPlay Mirroring to work:
Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu ().
Click Security & Privacy, then click Firewall.
Click the lock icon to unlock it if it's locked, then type an administrator name and password.
    Click Firewall Options.
Deselect (uncheck) the “Block all incoming connections” checkbox.
Select (check) the “Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections” checkbox.
Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!

  • Snow on 30" ACD when running from MacBook Pro 2.4 with Leopard....HELP

OK I have tried to run a 30" ACD from a high res MacBook Pro and at first everything appears fine. But as time progresses snow effects start to appear on the large monitors screen. I am running the laptop with the monitor window closed so that everything is on the large monitor.
I had previouslt experienced this issue with my G5 tower and I had to resort to SwitchResX and run the monitor at 58Hz. This time however the graphics card in the MacBook Pro does not allow the refresh rate to be changed. Tried doing as a custom refresh rate and even that does not work.
Has anyone experienced such an issue when running a 30" ACD at max resolution?
What can I do to fix this?
    Regards

I want to chime in as I'm having the same problem, although my hardware specs are slightly different... I'm running a 2.33Ghz 15" Macbook Pro with the ATI Radeon X1600 video card (256MB ram), running Leopard, with a brand new Dell 30" 3007WFP-HC monitor. (didn't have the LCD before I upgraded to Leopard, so don't know if the OS is a factor)
I see the snow appearing as horizontal one-pixel tall lines which appear alone or in a group of less than 10 appearing near each other on the screen - and it appears to be intermittent and only visible against black or very dark backgrounds. I tried the above suggestion and set the resolution down from the LCD's native, and wasn't seeing the interference, but switched it back and wasn't seeing it at native rez either. I'll have to try this rez switch the next time I see the interference, because it does not appear all the time.

  • Can Acrobat Standard append to an existing file when saving?  Can Pro?

    Hello all,
I'm wondering if Adobe Acrobat Standard has the function to save to an existing file. I don't mean append two PDF's together after they are already created. I mean I already have a PDF document which I need to add lots of additional pages to. So when creating additional PDF's, I want to be able to tell Acrobat to add those files to the end of the document I already have.
PrimoPDF has this feature which would be a real time-saver in my line of business. In that program, you simply choose the same filename when asked to save the document. It then prompts you to overwrite or append-to the existing file. For business reasons, it would be very advantageous to use Acrobat rather than Primo. Does anyone know if Acrobat Standard can do this? If not, does Pro do it? Thanks for your time. I appreciate any feedback I get.
    Chris

Never tried that... you might read in the Acrobat Pro User Guide Online

  • How do i remove file or software from macbook pro

i installed some programs and now i want to remove them from my macbook how do i do it??

    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead.  Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

  • Im trying to transfer music, selected files and photos from Macbook Pro to Air

I need a fast and easy method to transfer ... any help is appreciated

First, we aren't Apple, just users trying to help users. Second, it is very common for new users to misunderstand what Migration Assistant does. It does not copy files from your previous computer to your new computer. It copies entire accounts. If you open the System Preferences and select the Users & Groups tab, you should find the account that Migration Assistant copied. Log into it and you'll find your files there.

  • Omitting recipient's email address when emailing from macbook pro

    Bill

If she wasn't using BCC, there's no way on this green earth you can omit a recipient's email address and still have the message sent to them. I mean, how does she think that would work? It's like mailing a letter in a blank envelope and hoping it'll get to the person you wrote.
And there's absolutely no way to send an email through an email program or webmail without the recipient knowing the email address that it was sent from. There are ways to fake a sending email address, but I don't think that's what you're talking about.

  • How do i transfer my data from macbook pro to iMac?

i just bought a iMac.  How do i transfer my itunes library, photos, files via bluetooth from macbook pro to my iMac?  Much thanks for your help!

I believe that when you boot your computer for the first time and you are following the onscreen instructions you are prompted whether you want to transfer data from an old mac or PC. If you click 'transfer from an old mac' and follow the onscreen instructions, this may work.
If you have already skipped this step you could use iCloud to transfer data. If you make sure that everything you want to transfer is synced in iCloud, this may also work.

  • When I attempt to open a PDF file I saved from a website, I get the message "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired." Is there any way to correct this problem?

When I attempt to open a PDF file I saved from a website using Safari, I get the message "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired." When I save the same PDF file using FireFox it opens up immediately. Is there any way to correct this problem with Safari?

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Is there a way to disable previously viewed iMessages from appearing as Messages notifications when waking my MacBook Pro from sleep?

Is there a way to disable previously viewed iMessages from appearing as Messages notifications when waking my MacBook Pro from sleep?  Regardless of whether I am using iMessage from  my iPhone or iPad, when I open my MBP, I get attacked by Messages notifications for iMessages I've obviously already seen or responded to.  Is there a way to change this?  Are others having this issue?
Additionally,  previous iMessages sent or received from those  devices sometimes don't populate into the Messages window on the MBP.  I haven't been able to identify when or what causes this; sometimes it just doesn't seem to work (and I verified that the messages sent/received were, in fact, iMessages and not SMS).
Thanks - any help or insight would be appreciated!

First you need to determine what laptop model you have; then we can help you. A Mac Book Pro cannot run OS 9.1.
With your Mac booted up, click on the  at the far left of the menu. Then click on About This Mac. It will show what version of OS  you are running. What is the version?
A MBP will be running something like version 10.x.
If you are running version OS 9.x, you don't have a Mac Book Pro.
     Cheers, Tom

how to transfer data from macbook pro to an external hard drive, im using (WD 1TB 3.0) ???. I cannot copy anything from my mac to it not a single file.

ok - since you'll be sharing it with a PC - connect it to your windows pc - then format from there - instead of NTFS format - choose exFAT.
or, you can read the link below on how to do it in dos mode.
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-files/how-can-i-forma t-external-drive-in-exfat-not-in/0f6bf19a-19d6-4470-ae05-53ddf26bb476?msgId=1860 eae3-3488-4eea-8326-f87b89d9851b
once you've formatted it - you can now use it in both your macbook and windows computer.
