Corrupt recorded pdf with Safari 6.02 ?

I recently updated Safari to 6.02 on my MacBook 4.1 with Lion 7.5. With my previous Safari version, I could record pdf files without problem. Now, I can still record pdf but I cannot read them back, the system tells me "corrupt file". This problem is the same when I try to use Preview or Adobe reader. Other files with different extensions are correctly recorded and read. On the other hand, every thing is OK with Firefox. Have I to switch permanently to Firefox or is it possible to change something to my settings to cure the problem ?
Thanks for suggestions.

Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Problem downloading large pdf with Safari

Has anyone else had this problem when clicking on a link to a large pdf file (1MB) I get a blank screen in Safari. When I try with firefox its fine only with safari is there anything I need to change to allow downloads of larger pdf files in safari?

1MB isn't a particularly large file at all. Can we assume that you've verified that Safari will open smaller PDF's?
Also, you haven't mentioned what Adobe product and version you are using (may help to give the version of Safari as well).

I cannot open pdf with safari

Adobe Reader installed? If so, remove Reader.
    Macintosh HD > Library > Internet PLug-ins
    Look for these two files.
    AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
    AdobePDFViewer.plugin
Right click those and select “Move To Trash’.
    Best.

  • How to view pdf with safari

I cant enlarge PDF files in Safari.  Any plugins that address this?

Try using Preview in your Applications folder instead of Safari.

  • "open with" menu not showing in safari when having a pdf open. even when tabing the pdf in safari.....

    As the title states....
In default settings when opening a pdf with safari and tabbing the page, there is a black bar (menu) on top of the pdf and it allows you to open in ibooks or open with another app....
I've noticed that with some (company) ipads this black bar is not available.... probably this is a security setting of some sort? But I can't seem to find it anywhere...
anyone any idea what I need to change?
    Thanks a bunch !

Its old code from the menu maker that I havent updated (bought their update).
Save your money.  AllWebMenus are notoriously bad.  You would be much better off replacing what you have now with a good CSS Menu.
Some CSS Menu Systems to look at:

  • Cannot read PDF files with safari

    Hello,
I cannot read my online magasine with my iPad.
When I open it as PDF with safari, I can read the first few pages but then it freezes and safari just shuts down. It's very frustrating!
There was a similar post to this in the Mac section where they suggest deleting all cookies, history and cache. I tried that but it does not solve the problem.
    Any help welcome!

It seems that the problem is due to safari crashing with memory overload.
I am very disappointed with the iPad. It would seem it is nothing but an overpriced toy. It's supposed to be the most amazing thing ever for accessing the Internet and yet I can't even read an online magazine. Should have thought twice before buying it.

  • I have huge lag with Safari's Reading List using a rMBP. I have probably 80 articles saved, which is likely the cause of the lag. Is there any way to export that list of articles so as to be able to delete them from Reading List but still have a record?

I'm currently dealing with this issue myself, except that my rMBP has NO articles in the reading list.  It's a brand new rMBP too, purchased just this week, with the 2.6 Ghz Processor & 16GB of RAM.
Let's see what we can find.  I may just take it back to the Apple Store.

  • I'm trying to open a PDF from Safari with iBooks, but when I choose "Open with ..." in Safari, only Pages and Dropbox show as options.  I'm running iOS 7.1.2 and iBooks 3.2.  Thanks for any ideas!

On my iPad, I'm trying to open a PDF from Safari with iBooks, but when I choose "Open with ..." in Safari, only Pages and Dropbox show as options.  I'm running iOS 7.1.2 and iBooks 3.2.  I have rebooted the iPad and that did not help, and reinstalled iBooks, which also changed nothing.  Thanks for any ideas!

Yup, it was uploaded to our school Wiki as a PDF, and Pages did open it.  I was then able to move it to iBooks, but I'd rather avoid the extra steps.

  • SYSTEM CRASH with 'Save As PDF' in Safari

Since installing 10.6.4 my MacBook crashes whenever I attempt to "Save as PDF" in Safari. I am unable to force quit Safari or use any other application as the spinning beachball of death works its magic. I removed Safari 5 and replaced it with Safari 4.05 (using Time Machine) but this has no effect. All I can do is a hard reset to get my MacBook back from the abyss. I've just tried 'Save As PDF' from a Pages document and this worked fine.
    Any ideas?

First thing I would do if I were you is find your Snow Leopard installer DVD, boot from it, and when you get to the point where there is a menubar across the top of your screen, go into Utilities and run Disk Utility's Repair Volume option. If errors, run it over and over until no more "file system was modified" messages are reported. Then run the Repair Permissions option. That one reports errors that never go away so don't worry so much about them. Then reboot, and google "10.6.4 combo update." Download the combo update and reapply it.
No Sno installer DVD? Then boot while holding down the ⌘s keys. When you get to a user prompt, type fsck -fy and run it over and over until you get no more "file system was modified" messages. Then type exit so the computer reboots. You can continue with the repair permissions and combo update bit after the computer has rebooted into GUI mode.

  • Adobe Reader will not open embedded PDFs in Safari with Yosemite

Adobe Reader will not open embedded PDFs in Safari with Yosemite installed

That looks like a perfectly good PDF, but since it's trying to open in Microsoft Word, that means your file association for .pdf files is incorrect.  You should change it to point to Adobe Reader instead of Word.
If you are on Windows, see http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-file-open-program#1TC=windows-7

  • PDFs with Preview and Safari:

When I open a web based PDF in Safari and then choose "open in Preview" where is that file that I am now viewing in Preview located? On the web still? downloaded to the hdd? I can't find it in a spotlight search.

I had a similar probem after updating to the newest Safari -- and I posted that question on the forum this morning.  Like you, I didn't have any adobe plug-ins.  then I read another post that made sense:
find a pdf document that you know opens in Preview. Do a command-I on that document's icon.  Then you'll see 1/2 way down an item that says "open with Preview" - click on the arrow beside that, then beside it you'll see "use this application to open all documents like this one"  Under that, you'll see "change all" -- and it will change all pdfs to automatically open with Preview instead of Adobe. From then on Safari worked perfectly
Then I wondered why I didn't have the Adobe plug-in that people were telling me to disable - so I downloaded Adobe Reader again - looked in the library and sure enough there was the plug-in - so I went ahead and disabled the Adobe pdf plug-in (by dumping it in the trash).
so far so good -- first time that Safari 6.02 has worked for me since I installed it.

After I updated to Adobe Acrobat Reader, Build: 10.1.3.23
the following changes occured in Safari: the Preview toolbar at the bottom-center of the page has been replaced by a similar looking Acrobat Reader toolbar.

How can I uninstall Safari Plug-Ins?
How can I get back to viewing PDFs in Safari with Preview? (In Finder pdf documents are still set to be opened with Preview.)
    Thank you.

Here's my problem, running 10.7.3 and Safari.
I installed the 10.1.3 and have been running in 64 mode. If when viewing a PDF I choose File>Save As... I get a dialog saying "Export as... and upon trying to do so I get an error message that it can't export.
If, however, I choose the little floppy icon in the popup at the bottom I get a "Save a copy as..." and everything works as expected.
If I delete the Adobe plugins as specified in earlier posts, I get the Preview view of PDFs in Safari and Save As works normally.
I tend to like Adobe's viewer because it defaults to a bigger view, otherwise it's apples/oranges, er adobes.

  • Does Safari support a interactive PDF with hidden layers? I'm on version  5.0.3 and the interactive PDF displays just fine, but our web development team tells me all the layers display when they view the same PDF on Safari.

Does Safari support interactive PDFs with layers? Through the use of hidden layers and buttons we built in interactivity that allows the viewers to click on buttons to display different content. When I view the PDF in Safari 5.0.3 on my Mac OS 10.5.8 the PDF displays fine and the interactivity works. However our web design firm tell me the PDF displays all the hidden layers when they view it in Safari. Who's right?

Try updating your Safari to the latest version, 5.0.5.
Also check whether the rest of your system is up to date by going to Software Update in the Apple menu.

  • Recording a lecture with Safari 5

With Safari 5, can I record to DVD disk (or HD) a video on a web site?

    Ok..
    Insert a blank disc.
Drag the file to a Finder window and select it. Just click once to select, not open the file. The file will be highlighted. Then from the Finder menu bar click File / Burn (file name) to Disc.
