Corrupt registry?

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.
I have a Toashiba Equium A210 - 1CA running Windows 7. A couple of months ago the screen totally frooze with nothing happening for quite some time. Fortunately i had a computer friend visiting who looked at it and changed the hard drive. Everything worked ok for a month or so. Last week it did the same again.The screen frooze and would not carry out any functions. I left it for half a day with no change.
 Now Windows will not start up. It runs the windows repair service but I get the message  "Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically". Whe I look at the details it gives the following info:

I have tried system restore which will not work and factory restore disk.
Does anyone have any suggestions. I do not want to just go and replace the hard drive if it does exactly the same again.

Your answer is in Corrupt Registry arena as indicated in your finding as STARTUP LOGS are destryoed.  Something added has corrupted a specific registry line(s) that even restore/recovery cannot correct.  There is a good Anti-virus program installed we assume and malware program, as needed? To happen to a new drive is not uncommon but of a low ratio.  Screen freeze could be assumed video and thus overheating could be occurring.  Taking in for a service diagnostic would be advisable.

    I need help with what to do, if anything, with what appears to be the addition of a corrupt registry entry after installing Adobe Acrobat XI.
    The corrupt entry was added to: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
    The entry that was added only contains the following four characters:  @=””
    The entry is not visible when using regedit. I just happen to see it when I exported Run to a .reg file and looked at with notepad.

    Not that I know of at this time.
    My concern is that this entry may cause problems if other entries are added to this location, which is quite possible, or when and if I try to remove Acrobat XI.
    My hunch is that this entry was supposed to be Acorbat-sl.exe but I don’t know.

  • Skype corrupted registry keys (?) and error 1603

    The predecessor version to the 6.22.64.107 version had error code 1603. The error code basically stated that there was an error with the registry keys. I never found the solution to the problem. I think it was either the registry keys failing to completely uninstall, they were corrupted or it was both of them. I asked for help wherever I could ask for it and I got none; all the responses were the typical, generic ones that said to re-install Skype, linked me to past people's problems with the same issue. It got very frustrating.
    I figured that if I tried installing the new version of Skype I would get my Skype back (I've been Skype free since about September now) as the registry keys may be different for it.
    I tried re-installing the new Skype today using Google Chrome, but the Skype file that opened up was the "SkypeSetUpFull" as opposed to the "Skypesetup", that was supposed to show. I got the same "error code 1603" message and Skype failed to install.
    So, I went on to Internet Explorer to try to install the newest, updated Skype. I got the same Skype error as above.

    I'd appreciate the help in finally fixing this registry key error of mine. Please help if you can.

    I really do apologize for my recent inactivity. I'm back now and I'd like to solve this issue once and for all.
    I've tried the above (except for the hotfixes because I do not know how they work) and nothing's worked.
    I've tried the generic help solutions and nothing's worked. I believe the issue is with registry keys or with corrupted registry keys and missing startup software.
    I have a question that needs an answer:
    In an effort to completely remove Skype from my system, I removed its startup software from the startup list on CCleaner. Subsequently, whenever I try to install Skype from the official Skype website or any other site, the installer that I'm presented with is "SkypeSetUpFull" and not "Skypesetup".
    Is there any way to fix this error?

  • Corrupt registry - cannot uninstall weblogic portal 10.3.2

    I get the error "The local BEA product registry is corrupted" when I try to uninstall WLP 10.3.2. How can I go ahead and do a clean uninstall?

    You may want to go to the domain (top of tree) in the admin console, then 'security', 'embedded LDAP' and play with the 2 options of "refresh replica at startup'" and "master first". I don't have enough info on what database is referring to or your configuration but these are areas you may want to look into.

  • Windows 7 corrupt registry

    I have been unable to boot with Windows.  I have a Pavilion dv6-1245dx computer running Windows 7 as an upgrade to Windows VISTA.  When it goes into the startup repair it either says it cannot find the problem or cannot repair the computer automatically.  I cannot restore to an earlier point because no matter how far back I go, it says the registry at the restore point is corrupt.  The problem details I get from Setup Repair are as follows:

    I can't do the c prompt copy of the registry files from regback because when it hits the SYSTEM file, there is an I/O error.  I need to know whether I can fix this problem with the software or should I just scrap it and go get the data off the hard drive.  I don't want to pay $60-100 to get software support if I can't fix it.  I ran a memory and hard drive test and both were ok.  Thanks for your help.

    I think we can work around that, Colleen.
    You said your notebook came with Vista.
    Make your own Vista disk, install Vista and then pop in your W7 disk and upgrade from the desktop.
    If you can no longer read your Vista key due to wear and tear, I think you can skip the part where you enter it at the beginning and Vista will still install and give you 30 days to activate.
    But since you are going to upgrade to W7, I believe you can just go ahead and upgrade then and there via the desktop.
    Here's how...
    If you're up to a slight but rewarding challenge you can make your own if you can read your 25 character Vista product key on the PC.
    Just download the 3 files you need at the link below, and read all of the instructions to create a bootable DVD installation disk using imageburn.
    Disregard the part of the text under the first screen shot about "extract the files to the Vista folder."
    The files were already extracted to that folder when you ran the X14.exe file by reading the text on top of the first screen shot.
    The other thing I noticed is on the 4th screen shot, where it shows Developer ID Microsoft Corporation. I had to type Microsoft Corporation in myself, and then the other codes automatically populated.
    When I went to compile the ISO file, ImageBurn gave a message that about a WIM file and ISO, and if I wanted to burn it in a different format.
    I selected No, make the ISO file.
    It was not that hard to do. I burned both the 64 bit disk and the 32 bit disk in case I ever need them.
    I tested both of them an my hp dc7100 CMT desktop PC, they worked perfectly.
    When you enter the product key, it knows what version of Vista you have.

  • BT Tech Helpdesk corrupted registry

    At the beginning of June 2010 I lost my wireless connection and phone Tech helpdesk. Advisor proceeded to do a remote access assistance to sort the issue. He then DELETED my Network Adapter Driver without my permission and in doing do corrupted the registry in my laptop. When put through to complaints managerhe tried to reinstall it, the laptop kept saying access denied. He then said that he ws elevating my issue to another helpdesk and gave me a number to phone. When I phone this I found top my horror that he had given me the number for paying to get help! I don't thnk so! We pay enough with BT for access to internet. I then phoned back Tech Helpdesk and the advisor I spoke to tried the same procedure to instal the Driver unsuccessfully. He said that I should never have been given the paid helpdesk number.
    I was then put through to complaints manager who said that he would have to look at the remote access files to find out what happened. He said that I could always use my ethernet cable to access internet. Bit difficult when I have a 3 year old and 1 year old twin girls going about the living room and my phone line box is at the other side of the room.
    I was called back by the manager who informed me that the advisor was indeed to blame as he didn't seek consent from me to delete the driver. He was unable to do anything further as it was my laptop that was now the issue.
    I had to call my laptop manufacturer tech helpdesk who then informed me that because my laptop was 3 years old I would have to phone a Premium Rate telephone number at 60p a minute for help. I called back BT who said I would be reimbursed for this. I was given a customer complaint reference number to quote when my laptop was sorted.
    I phoned the premium rate number and informed them what had happened at the BT helpdesk. They asked why the driver had been deleted and all I could reply was I don't know. They said that because the registry had been corrupted in the process I would have to do a complete reinstall of Windows Vista.
    Therefore I had to backup 120Gb worth of files from my laptop. Reinstall Windows Vista to factory settings. Then sit while I had to do 3 years worth of Windows updates. The put back on 120Gb worth of files. This all took time.
    No one at BT, it seems, is prepared to take ownership of this complaint.
    I then phoned back BT Tech helpdesk and this is where the fun really begins.
    The first person I spoke to said there was nothing in the notes regarding reimbursement. He then said I would get a callback from the department, within 10 minutes, dealing with this. I waited 40 minutes with no callback and then phoned back the Tech helpdesk again and was informed that the department closed at 10pm. It seems the previous advisor fobbed me off as it was 9.50pm when the first call ended.
    I was told that I would get a callback the next day. This did not happen. I phoned yet again and again informed that as it was Sunday the department closed early. Once again completely fobbed off by BT customer care team. Again I was told that a callback had been arranged for Monday. Once again no callback. 3 DAYS RUNNING NO CALLBACK. As I said earlier no one at BT is willing to take ownership of this complaint and get it sorted! Person I sppoke to on Monday night(Last night)said I would have to phone billing to get it sorted but, guess what, they were closed. I spoke to a Manager yet again who said that I would get a, yes a, Callback today. I told them in no uncertain terms I was sick of receiving no callback when promised there would be.
    Today, Tuesday 22 June 2010, I called billing. Explained the situation. They couldn't help as nothing in notes to say what compensation I was to receive. Put back through once again to Tech helpdesk. Person on helpdesk wasn't listeneing - we'll call you back to sort this out. I eventually cracked and said that if it wasn't sorted out today then I woudl be going to the Media about this. I was put through to Complaints Manager. She said that would have to look at remote assistance to see what happened. I explained that this had already been done and was in notes. She insited that she needed to look through notes and it would take 24 hours. This is not acceptable to me since this has been ongoing since beginning of June 2010. I then siad put me through to contract terminations. SHE IGNORED this and conrtinued to speak. I said again put me through to contract terminations. Once again she ignored my request and continued to speak about looking at remote access files. I had to really raise my voice, unfortunately, for her to even accept that I wanted to speak to contract terminations. She then advised me that as I am still incontract with BT that if I was to terminate my contract the I would be liable to pay for the remainder of the contract.
    IT SEEMS THAT EVEN WITH ATROCIOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE BT HAS YOU OVER A BARREL. ROLLING CONTRACTS AND COMPLETE SHAM AND ANYONE READING THIS SHOULD BE AWARE THAT BT OPERATE THIS AND DO NOT INFORM YOU WHEN YOUR CONTRACT IS ABOUT TO END. BE AWARE THAT IF YOU EVER DO HAVE COMPLAINTS ABOUT YOUR SERVICE YOU WILL BE ON THE PHONE FOR AN AVERAGE OF ABOUT AN HOUR AT A TIME. IF YOU ARE PUT ON HOLD, MOST OF THE TIME IT SEEMS LIKE YOU HAVE BEEN CUT OFF AS THERE IS NO MUSIC TO SAY YOU ARE ON HOLD.
    I said to the complaints manager that I wanted this sorted today. She again said that needed 24 hours to look at remote access files. Unfortunately I've had to accept this.
    I received a call from her again about 2.20pm today, Tuesday 22 June 2010, and was advised that my complaint was being escalated to a higher complaints desk. On holod for a further 20 minutes - seems to be wasting my life away being on hold to BT. I was put through to this desk and was promptly cut off. Lovely! They phoned back, but I explained that I had to go collect my son from nursery. Arranged for a callback at 3.30pm today. It's now 3.28pm. Will update this if I get a callback or not.

  • Metis 266 (6390v2.x) corrupting registry with XP Pro

    Hi All,
    We have 40 of the MSI Metis 266 Slim Case PCs with the MS-6390v2.0 mainboards, BIOS 2.4 and 2.5.
    With XP Pro SP1 installed with all Windows Update patches, we are experiencing random registry corruptions with the following error message:
    "Windows cannot start because a file is missing or corrupted. The file is WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM"
    Could this be a faulty RAM issue?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    *In memtest86 you can enter the configuration menaue and tell it to run all tests including the advanced ones which are usually not preformed.
    Do any of these boards have leaking capacitors ?
    If you do a complete hardware swap between a working system and a falty system does the problem pass to the working one or does it stay with the board ?

    we are a Lenovo reseller, having had not a lot troubles so far with M72 models in the past.
    Since M73 the problems have dramatically exploded. We had so far 5 machines, on which we had to run the Factory Recovery as the OS won't start or was corrupted. It appears that especially after a windows updates the chances of a not starting Windows is very high - Windows repair mostly fails.
    Is this a known issue? Does others have the same troubles? Any chance to fix this?
    We are currently reviewing all Lenovo installations and will decide whether we still want to sell them or not. Our business clients are not happy about such an instable installation.

    We purchased many M72e's and recently appx 100 m73 standard builds and 100 recent custom M73 ax builds, we are regretting this right now. We are scrambling to try to keep these machines functioning properly. At first they seem good but they have tons of issues we are discovering, out fo our  new 100, so far we have 10 dead machines, another bunch that have usb issues even after doing bios updates. Many pc's have issues with usb devices not working in one port but will in another. I believe lenovo has a serous problem on their hands with these machines they don't realize or want to admit.
    Being the reseller puts you in a bad spot with a product like this. I believe this is a huge liability to anyone at this point in time, I will be going back to our reseller to deal with lenovo b/c I didn't get the help I was looking for with them directly. GOOD LUCK!

  • H520s Windows 8 DVD-ROM disabled and error 19 - registry corrupt Help please!

    Hi all and hoping for help with H520s, 64bit  OS Windows 8. Error message showing  problem with DVD-RAM Mat**bleep**a SW820; this is disabled in the device manager, and I can't use the DVD drive as a result. (yellow triangle)
    Have tried windows fix utility on pc ; drivers are up to date. Have disabled, enabled etc. But it's still error 19
    This was working perfectly until a couple of days ago when Microsoft ran a mega load of updates, including critical windows 8 updates. Am wondering if there's some conflict?
    Have searched the Lenovo solution centre for up to date drivers for the dvd-RW but there aren't any. Don't really want to uninstall the DVD-ROM drive and attempt reinstall unless can definitely reinstall and can't find anything that reassures me I wil be able to do so.
    Wondering if Is this similar to another issue on Toshiba pcs where it seems, according to various searches,  it was a corrupted registry entry due to conflicts with pre installed pc rescue type utilities?
    I'm no IT expert and the idea of registry fiddling is not reassuring.

    Hi, I hope someone can help.  My DVD ROM is in my device manager but I can seem to reload the driver or find anywhere that can help me locate and download it. I deleted it from the device manager and then had windows search for it and the driver but that didn't work. The DVD is Optiarc BD ROM BC -5500S.  I can find references to it but it doesn't seem to be a straightforward problem to fix.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    You can either run this file or manually fix it by following the instructions below:

    Hi. Had a spyware (Trojan) killed by the virus cleaner but upon restart it gave me a famous lsass.exe error about an application, which could not be terminated. Went on and read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545 but when tried to start recovery from Windows XP CD-ROM,  the command "copy c:\windows\repair\system c:\windows\system32\config\system" did not work. Eventually was able to load the system from the CD-ROM but then could not pass part 2 (safe mode after rebooting) as the administrator password has been changed. I have run  NT Password and Registry Bootdisk from USB to remove the administrator password but when tried go back to recovery console from Windows XP CD-ROM, the computer powers off right before I select "R"-option to start the recovery console. When I do not use the CD-ROM and try to power on in a safe mode, it gives BSOD. How do I get to corrupted registry if I cant get to recovery console and system restore?
    Any help is appreciated. I have run a system diagnostics and start-up test has passed but on hard disk test I get to 10% of comprehensive only and then it seems to take indefinite.

    How to do a Manual SYSTEM RESTORE in XP, this should fix the missing or corrupt config file.
    A. Connect your non-bootable hard drive to another computer, as a secondary drive or use a usb adapter or enclosure, If you can see your data on the drive, back it up Now, then follow the rest of these instructions.
    B. Open Windows Explorer. Click on Tools|Folder Options|View. Check the box beside "Show hidden files and folders". Apply your change.
    NOTE
    D: may not represent the hard drive you connected to your PC, it may be E: or F: or G:, it all depends on how many other drives (including cd/dvd) you have in your host PC, So substitute the appropriate drive letter in the instructions below.
    C. Navigate to the D:\System Volume Information folder. You will see a folder named something like _restore{.........} the dots represent an alpha-numeric sequence.
    In this folder you will see folders named RP0....RPnn. Find the one with the highest number.
    These are your System Restore points. In the highest numbered folder you will see a folder named snapshot. In this folder are registry hive files which you need to recover your system:
    _registry_user_.default 
    _registry_machine_security
     _registry_machine_software 
    _registry_machine_system 
    _registry_machine_sam
    D. Create a subdirectory; i.e, D:\Windows\TMP. Copy these files to the TMP subdirectory. Rename them to:
    default
    security
    software 
    system 
    sam
    Note Be sure to lose the period (.) in the file named _registry_user_.default
    E. Delete the files in the D:\windows\system32\config subdirectory with the same short names.
    F. Copy the D:\windows\tmp files to the D:\windows\system32\config. subdirectory.
    G.Put your drive back in its original system. Your system should start normally. If you get the same error repeat the procedure and choose another folder ( RPnn) (next highest number).
    You can repeat this procedure choosing lower RPnn numbers until you get it booting again.
    If you are denied access to any folders you will have to take "Ownership" of the folders first. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421
    If this procedure fails to work you need to repair or reinstall Windows.

  • Registry File Failure

    Hi.  I have an a satellite M45-S359 that won't boot up.  the error message is STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure}  the registry cannot load the hive (file).  I have tried the recovery disc but get the same result.  Appreciate any help I can get

    How could that happen? 
    If you are restoring the hard drive to its original factory-fresh state, then there is no registry to be corrupt.
