Corrupt sound itunes

The sound of itunes is corrupt on my iMac

Is this happening with all songs and videos?
Make sure you've installed all of the software updates available.
Try playing the track in QuickTime Player, just right click the track in iTunes, click Show in Finder, right click the track in Finder, click Open With and choose QuickTime Player.
If your having the same problem with sound both apps, try looking for outdated plug-ins by following along with this -> iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins

  • Imported MP3s (mostly from Amazon) getting corrupted by iTunes?

I have a relatively large collection (~12000 songs) managed by iTunes. Recently, I have been having major problems with MP3s, mostly downloaded from Amazon, getting corrupted by iTunes. By corrupted, I mean that the song has skips and weird digital artifacts that I haven't had problems with since the very early (pre-1999) days of using Napster. If you've heard this before, you'll probably agree that it's hard to describe, but the song basically goes off-beat for a split second, can sound like a warble machine, and sometimes has very harsh ear-popping noises.
This issue just recently started happening - I want to say within the last 3-4 weeks. I don't want to think that it's the recent upgrade to iTunes, but here is my thought:
I think that iTunes is modifying my MP3s, particularly the ones with star ratings, but also other files. Once edited, many seem to be corrupt. For the ones from Amazon, I've been able to download replacement versions (after getting their cust. service to re-enable the download) and the songs play fine in Winamp and WMP, until I play them in iTunes. Then they skip and blip all over the place in all 3 programs! The file size is changed by iTunes, often to a smaller file size (seems weird, if it's adding tag info?).
ANY help is appreciated. I'm about ready to stop using iTunes, change all my files to read-only, and find another way to upload to my iPods.
    Thoughts?

Are you positive they didn't import, or is it just that there aren't where you expect to find them? The thing about wav files is they don't accept tags, so if you import them they will just get added under the filename.
I would just copy across the whole media folder with libraries and all, then start iTunes with the option key held down and point it at the media folder. This will just use the library in its new location and you don't have to import, etc.

  • Why do music files get corrupted in iTunes?

Why do music files get corrupted in iTunes? All kinds of files;( mp3, mp4, aac, etc., either purchased from iTunes, Store, downloaded from online, or uploaded from an audio disc) SUDDENLY GET CORRUPTED AND STOP PLAYING! Even if I delete the file from my iTunes and then re-open it from the source, it appears to be corrupted. My system has been thoroughly scanned and does not have and never has hAd, a virus. Music files should not have a shelf life. They're just non-living pieces of information. So why should they suddenly go bad? It is unacceptable that over the past year I have had to delete many files from my iTunes library and find some other source for the same song. It has been an exhausting headache and an exasperating waste of my time.

this is not necessarily the case, I had an itunes library go bad on me. I noticed the corrupt files on my ipod, they were either skipping real bad or sounded like there was some crazy modulation filter applie. Anyways, i went to iTunes and the files were bad there, so I played them in WMP, also bad, so obviously it was a file issue, BUT, what was the source of the corruption.......also, this happened ONLY to mp3s, no other audio file.......so i had backups and copied the bad files from a dvd and played them in WMP, files were good, then i import them to iTunes, and the files are crap again, so I tried just adding to library, still bad. So the file was fine before, once iTunes touched it, the file went bad, I **** you not. So I uninstalled iTunes from my PC, downloaded the newest version and reinstalled, same problems, so i continued trying with a different version, and making sure all registry entries were cleared before installing etc. NOTHING, so in the end i had to start using Winamp and all those files have not since caused me problems. So NO, it does not have to be hard drive issues, assess your own situation and you should be able to figure out if it is your HDD. My problem seemed to be iTunes library corrupting my metadata. However, I could never get it to work. I am glad to say I have since abandoned my PC and bought a new iMac on which i once again happily running iTunes with all the same audio files as before

I updated iTunes on my Dell Inspiron lap top and it corrupted my iTunes. I uninstalled all of the newly installed files.  I also uninstalled iTunes.  Now whenever I try to install iTunes, I get a message that says, "An Apple Application support is required to run iTunes on this computer. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again."
Tried it 2 times and no luck.  Any advice for me?
    Maureen

I get a message that says, "An Apple Application support is required to run iTunes on this computer. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again."
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Multiple good IPOD's show as corrupt in itunes, error 1439

I have multiple IPOD's that test out fine at the Apple store (i.e. they will sync promptly and undergo a successful restore on a windows based computer) but they show as "corrupt" in iTunes at home. When I use the restore function in iTunes I get an error message "unable to restore, unknown error 1439 (or sometimes 1437).
Prior to this these iPods would appear in My Computer but not in iTunes - I corrected this problem by uninstalling and re-installing iTunes and clearing out the temp directory.
Has anyone else fixed this problem? I found several references, but no solution.
    Randy

Thanks for providing a good amount of detail.
Enable disk use is a setting (checkbox) on the shuffle's Settings tab in iTunes.  It allows you to see the iPod's "disk" on the Desktop continously while it is connected, so that you can copy files to it using Finder (like it was a USB flash drive).  The light blinks as a warning to eject before disconnecting, because the iPod's disk is mounted.  If that checkbox is NOT checked, iTunes only mounts the iPod's disk when syncing, so the light does not blink most of the time (and you can disconnect it without ejecting).
Although you have confirmed that the USB port on the external drive (Is it an OWC miniStack?), which is the same as a powered USB hub, works with another iPod, you may want to disconnect something from a direct USB port temporarily.  Connect the shuffles docking cable there, to confirm it's not the port causing the problem.
If you connect it and run Disk Utility instead of iTunes, does it appear in the Disk Utility sidebar?
Since this is a 2nd gen shuffle, and you use a Mac, you can try using the iPod Reset Utility

  • Lenovo N500 NS74APB and corrupted sound via HDMI

Hello. I have connected the laptop to TV LCD (Philips PFL7403D/12) with HDMI cable and I noticed corrupted sound. There are noises (crackles) and vanishing sound for seconds. Also when i.e. moving the window between the screens, the crackles occure. On internal speakers the sound is correct. What can be the problem? Is it laptop, TV or HDMI cable, which causes the problems?

I also use the N500 modell (747) and want to watch videos, I have problems with the sound, too.
I have connected the notebook with a HDTV projector, resolution 1920 x 1200,  via HDMI cable.
The screen of the notebook is dark.
Problem: I can hear nothing, the sound from the movie cannot get out from the notebook by the audio front connector.
Question: How can I catch the sound? Any ideas?
    Thanks

I want to be able to sync things from my ipod to itunes.  I had albums get corrupted in itunes but still good on my ipod. Now I want to add to my iphone.  all from CDs, none from itunes.

The sync process with iTunes is only one way, which is from iTunes to the iPod.  You'll need another way of copy content from your iPod back to your PC.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • Corrupted Sound When Using IM Programs

I have a HP Pavilion DV5z-1000.  When I use IM programs (so far I have tried Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo Messenger), they seem to work fine for a while with both sound and video.  However, after a few minutes, the audio becomes "corrupted".  I hear a horrible rushing, static-like sound.  This will stop after a few minutes but then reoccur.  I have a broadband connection, so I don't think the problem comes from a slow connection.  Additionally, the corrupted sound does not sound like the typical broken or distorted sound you get from a slow connection.  Interestingly, the person on the other end can still hear me and does not hear any of this cacophony.
Any idea what may cause this?  I thought it might be Windows Live Messenger but then tried Yahoo and I get the same result.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the link but it doesn't really solve the problem.
I know it works in VLC, my problem is that I absolutely need to be able to use the clip(s) in iMovie HD because I'm filming a documentary and this is one of the most important interviews.
Even if it means finding a way to split the audio in some other program then importing the audio file I'd be ok with that, but I so far I haven't been able to figure it out...any other suggestions?
    Thanks

  • Corrupt Sound Playback when another sound is played in iTunes 7

Latest version of iTunes and Quicktime.
Seems to corrupt the playback if something else makes a noise (like an email notification). Only way to fix it is to pause and then play audio in iTunes.
Very odd and only on my Windows XP machine, not on my two Macs (Mac mini and MacBook).
Just updating the audio drivers for Windows, might fix it - I'll post back if so!

Saying that, it's fixed one problem and introduced another.
I now suffer from the less than 100% volume fuzz bug.
Not so much of an issue though, but it wasn't there before!

  • Corrupted sounding music...please help

Hello I have a problem on my new ipod 5th gen 32gb. When I sync my music over to my ipod it sounds corrupted but on itunes it is completely fine. I have tried to delete and resync the music but it still sounds corrupted. Can anyone help?

I actually have been able to fix it by restoring the iPod and now it works perfectly. Thanks for your help anyway I was hoping that I didn't have to have bring it back to the store because I had just got the device today.

  • Apple TV rental has corrupted sound

I just rented a movie on my apple tv.  It downloaded and the image is perfect but the sound is corrupted and garbled.  It can't be watched.  Any idea what I can do?

Try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history to contact iTunes Support : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that film and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work (it's been taking some people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

  • Did a corrupted (8008) iTunes video corrupt my entire iPod (80 GB classic)?

I've had a black 80 GB iPod since around the time it was first released (January 2007). Until about 6 months ago, I never had any problems with it - I could download songs, TV shows, movies, and games without experiencing any problems.
About 6 months ago, when downloading a TV show season package, I received a message on one of the episodes that I'd never seen before, error 8008 (which told me that the file was corrupted and could not be downloaded). After some unproductive back-and-forth with a representative, I gave up on the episode and deleted the file from my computer hard drive completely. Of note, even though I'd given up on the episode and removed it from my iTunes download list, it appeared on my iTunes download list randomly last week and there were no problems with the download.
But ever since the original incident 6 months ago (when I received the 8008 error message), my iPod has turned on me. Videos that I have downloaded since then (both movies and TV shows) will suddenly freeze and the iPod itself will start making this noise - kind of like a computer when it's "thinking" - and I can feel the iPod churning in my hand. This is usually accompanied by a harsh loud scratching and "bleeping" noise on the audio, and the screen goes black. On some videos, I have been able to fast-forward for several seconds and then it returns to normal. On some of these videos, I have to fast-forward several times during the video because it will happen more than once. And some videos I simply cannot watch because the iPod will not permit me to fast forward over the corrupted segments. It takes a lot of effort and many attempts at resetting before the iPod will become "unstuck." Songs and albums I've downloaded also have minor "skips" in certain places as well (kind of like a CD with a tiny scratch) but this is not as frustrating as the TV shows and movies ... a "skip" here or there is nothing compared to paying $15.99 for a movie you cannot watch!
Edited to add: None of the videos I downloaded before receiving the 8008 error have had any problems since the 8008 error appeared. I can still watch them all just as before. No skipping, no freezing, nothing. It is only videos I've downloaded since then that have had these issues.
Oh, also after the 8008 error, I began seeing a white screen I'd never seen before after turning on my iPod telling me that my iPod needed to be restored. I had never seen such a message before. Again, I followed all of the steps that Apple suggested; it kept happening anyway. I saw this message for about 4 months, but I haven't seen it since.
Currently, I have 31.80 GB free on my iPod. I have never "overloaded" my iPod and have never had less than 20 GB free at a time. I've never dropped my iPod; I keep it in a protected plastic case; I update the iTunes software every time it is available; I am not using Genius; I have never imported a video or a CD that was NOT from iTunes into my library - after my library was erased when I upgraded from the earlier version to the 80 GB model, I didn't feel like uploading my CDs all over again, so this cannot possibly be an issue related to getting a "virus" from downloading movies from the Internet.
Is my iPod corrupted forever? Will it always be a guessing game from now on as to whether a video I've downloaded will be perfectly fine or whether it will skip and freeze and not permit me to watch it? (In which case, iTunes certainly doesn't return money, as the download on their end was "successful.") How do I go about fixing this problem when the iPod - while in perfect condition otherwise because I've kept such good care of it - is no longer under warranty?

Also, if there's a better place to post this question, please let me know how to post it elsewhere. I tried to do so but I suppose I'm not permitted to double post in different forums?

  • Something corrupt in iTunes

When I connect my iPod(4th gen) it doesn't add any songs and a warning comes up from my tray that says"iTunes:iTunes.exe Corrupt File in \iPod_Control\iTunes\Play Counts run the Chkdsk utility." I typed Chkdsk into run and ran it. Nothing changed. Also when I connect my iPod it says "Attemp to write to iPod failed. The disk cannot be read from or written to." • IPod mini shows up as corrupted in iTunes but works on another PC

I know this is a long shot, but I'm having some issues with my iPod mini and am hoping someone here has heard of this before. When I tried to sync my mini up with iTunes v7 I got a message saying that my iPod was corrupted and that I should restore it. I did this and it didn't correct the problem. After trying several different fixes that I found on the support page I gave up and purchased a new iPod nano. When I connected the nano I got the same error. Upon further investigation I discovered that my mini and the nano work perfectly fine with iTunes on every other computer that I've tried. I turned to a friend for help and we discovered that my computer isn't recognizing that my mini is formatted - it's showing the system file as RAW instead of FAT32. When I connect it to another PC it shows the correct formatting. I've tried everything that I can think of and still can't figure out the issue. If anyone has had this type of problem and knows how to fix it I would be very grateful for your help!

hmmmmmm. by any chance do you have a digital camera?
i'm thinking it's plausible here that you could be getting a Windows drive letter confusion on the PC, where the PC is thinking that your ipods are a camera (or some other device with onboard memory storage).
that's actually also consistent with relentlessly getting some messages telling you to restore the ipod (even though the ipod is showing up as perfectly fine on the PC).
working on that theory, let's see if these documents are of any help:
"iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore"
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • Corrupt Sound?

I have a Powermac G5 Dual 2.0 GHZ (single layer dvd drive model) that has been having problems with the sound.
For some reason, BOTH the external and internal speakers are affected by this problem
If I play a song in Itunes for instance, the song plays just fine until ANY other activity takes place such as going to a web page in Safari, or opening a folder, etc. The sound cuts out and makes a terrible static noise.
I have the same problem in any application that uses sound, such as with my Miglia Alchemy TV DVR card.
I tried creating a new user and testing Itunes which didn't help at all.

The more I try to reproduce the problem, the more I think it may be the processor(s). It seems that I get substantial hesitation that may cause the "break" in sound. I also get hesitation in video whenever more than one appilcation is running.
I fear one of the processors has gone bad. Is there any way to check easily? Good thing I have apple care!
