Corrupt T60 video driver
Today I unfortunately updated my ATI Radeon/FireGL video driver from the Microsoft site. I use the term "upgraded" loosely as the update process has rendered my video driver unusable. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling the driver from the Lenovo drivers site, but the install process never seems to complete and I get a missing driver INF error. I've tried this mulitple times and either end up with a blue screen when I boot or the default 800x600 resolution because the driver never gets installed.
Does anyone have any suggestions for how to hard force an uninstall of everything video driver related so that I can install the latest Lenovo video driver or another way out of this mess I'm in?
Sam
Hi thompsam,
Welcome to the Lenovo forum
The last time I messed with an ATI driver update (from Lenovo I'm pretty sure) it came with a program to "completely remove all ATI drivers" from your machine. You might have a look for that, and run it if you find it. After it's done, then try installing the ATI driver from Lenovo.
Over the years there have been cases where you can gain extra features by installing the driver from ATI or even 3rd parties. But I think the most recent advice is to stick to the drivers that Lenovo supplies. Those know about the specific configuration of the GPU in your ThinkPad, and are most likely to work without problems.
Hope you figure it out, please let us know.
Good luck,
Frank

I'm doing a fresh install of XP on a T60 and whenever I download the ATI drivers from Lenovo, I only can install .NET 2.0. This is really frustrating an urgent, please help!
Solved!
Go to Solution. You can install .NET Framework 2.0 from here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5&displa...
Also, I would recommend you to install only Network drivers first, and then install Windows Update.
The Windows Update might identify your graphic card and automatically provide a driver for you. -
Any plan for Windows 7 64-bit Video Driver for T60?
I have Win 7 x64 installed, and I'm using the Vista video driver (which I believe is 32-bit). I'd prefer to have a fully supported 64-bit Windows 7-qualified driver. Is there any plan to provide one in the near future? Thanks!

Did you use System Update from Lenovo?
You can download it from here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/tvsu-update.html
there is no new video driver for the T60.

My ThinkPad T40 recently had some strange scrambled lines across the screen. They aren't constant and they don't show up when I switch HD's to my Fedora setup. It only shows up in the XP setup, and it is red on white, blue on black, and various other colors depending on what is underneath it.
When I formatted the drive, thinking it was a corruption in the windows system files, it had gone away, but when I installed the video driver (ATI Radeon 7500) and rebooted the system, the lines had shown up again. I uninstalled the video driver, and the lines went away, but Window's plug and play didn't let me stay that way for long as it automatically reinstalled the ATI Radeon 7500 driver. The lines returned upon a reboot of after the drivers were installed.
I took photographs of the issue.

Sometimes it changes depending on what is on the screen. It is not always just collected together; as I write this it is all over the screen in more seperated segments. Is there an older video driver that isn't listed on the website I could use or is there another solution for this? Thanks a lot.Your T40 has a classic GPU problem that these machines are known for, where graphic card starts detaching itself from the rest of the motherboard due to numerous heating/cooling cycles and/or chassis strain. Linux doesn't access the video the same way Windows does, and that's why your distro works fairly normal. However, if you kept on pushing the machine long enough into start/shutdown cycles in Linux, you'd see the same behaviour of the video segment.
Motherboard replacement, or solder re-balling/reflowing in the GPU area are your only long-term choices. Placing a couple of post-it sheets on the GPU itself will act as a band-aid.
Good luck.
Cheers,
George

T43p ATI Video Driver gives blue screen
Hi,
I have been having issues with the video driver for the ATI graphics card for Thinkpad T43p despite downloading the latest driver available on the Lenovo at:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-61503
The driver file “ati2dvag” crashes my Windows XP operating system. Would you kindly direct me to the driver to resolve this issue or let me know if I need to change some settings? My graphics card is “ATI MOBILITY FIREGL V3200”
Thank you,
NitinWelcome to the forum!
My experience has been that this type of issue arising on a T4x/R5x series machine with ATi GPU usually points to a failing graphics card.
This is the driver I use on my own T43p:
http://staff-www.uni-marburg.de/~schmitzr/ATIPOWPL.zip
Good luck.

George

Tecra S3 process 99% due to video driver
I've got a tecra S3, all with latest drivers available from Toshiba.
While browsing some tool/website (a lot of active-X controls in there) the process of IE (Firefix also) goes to 99%, if that process is killed, the process "explorer.exe" goes to 99% and so on ...
My best guess is that the video driver causes some corruption in the RAM of the S3.
Since I don't have any problems when I disable the hardware acceleration.
This is not a stand alone situation, everyone at work having the same model, is having the same problem ...
Anyone any idea? Or should I just wait for an new driver from Toshiba? And keep the HW acceleration off for now?Hi,
Well from most of my experiences I have never seen a computer go to %100 because of bad memory modules. Seen them make wierd screen patterns, freeze, shut off, and everything in between, but never seen one go to %100. Perhaps it is malfunctioning and goes to %100 because either your CPU is not cool enough, or the Video card is overheating. Try and increase cooling performance on both modules and see if that helps. If not, you could have a bad heatsink that needs to be either A)repaired, or B)replaced. Take one of them to your local ASP and have them test it out, unless they are out of warranty, at which point you can try and change the heatsink yourself. If a newheat sink does not solve the problem then either your CPU or Video card is bad. If you can find any tests that test cpu, video and ram, try it out. I recommend Burn in Test, aka BITpro. It tests all things and is an excellent tool. Let me know how it goes. -
Corrupted quicktime video during backup
When I tried copying over a quicktime video from one hard drive to another, I noticed that it cause major issues with the videos image and audio. Completely scrambling the video and creating a loud buzzing sound when the video played.
Here is a still frame of the corrupted quicktime video.
Fortunately the original video file was fine so I just copied the file over and it was okay the second time, but does anyone know causes this to occur? How do you prevent this from occurring in the future. What is it called when this happens?uluulu
Happened to me once as well. Never happened again but I am a curious sort. Let's see if an expert can help. This reply will give the Q a boost in the list.

[CS4] Importing video corrupts corrupts the video length
Hello everyone,
I have a small problem, and I think it is caused by a driver malifuction either inside Premiere or in my system.
The problem is that no matter what type of encoded video I import into Premiere Pro, it corrupts it. I mean the audio is normal, and the video is like 1/1000 length of the normal one, and it doesn't match the audio at all.
it's quite hard to explain, so here's a link to a youtube video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IhAbCMzc-8
I tried converting the same video into a bunch of different formats, it's the same.
Anyone could give me an advice? I tried reinstalling my VLC codec pack and suck, but it didin't help, update didin't help aswell. With some converted media (often coming to me as DivX, or some similar, delivery-only format), I often get a Duration issue, though this is for both the Audio & Video, not just the Video. This happens at random, and does not seem predictable, to me. I found that if I first Imported the problem AV file (DV-AVI in my case) into PrElements, then did an non-Recompressed DV-AVI (just like the source footage), things then came into PrPro with the correct Duration. I've tried to find out what is different about the two files, but cannot find it - things just now work.
Not sure if that is what you are seeing, or something else, especially as you say that your Audio is the proper Duration.
My first course of action would be to make sure that my video driver was completely updated.
If that does not help, maybe give the full specs. of one of the problem files, and also the full system specs., especially the video sub-system and driver version/date.
Good luck,

New A03 video driver posted for Venue 11 Pro 7130 - please report any remaining issues here!
We have posted the updated A03 version of the video driver. If you are having video problems on your 713x, please update to this latest driver ASAP.
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=3DTCD&fileId=3390560770&osCode=WB64A&productCode=dell-venue-11i-pro&languageCode=EN&categoryId=VI
This driver fixes most known issues. Note that there are still several monitors with known persistence issues (e.g. what the monitor does after a sleep/resume cycle). The plan is to address these in the next driver release.
If you see issues with the A03 driver, please provide information here. Please see this thread for general troubleshooting steps before reporting issues -> http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/mobile-devices/f/4586/t/19580384.aspx?pi239031352=1#20664209
Thanks!i updated the video drive and was really excited when i hooked up my DP to DP and the monitor worked. Soon after though, a bunch of issues arised:
1) When the monitor went to sleep it shut of the tablet as well.
2) My CPU is now running high (50%-60%) and my cursor has a constant blue circle spinning around
3) The fan is constantly running, not high but on. It did not do this prior to the driver update
The Venue is working in the sense that i am running an HDMI to HDMI monitor off the dock and my application seem to run at the same speed.
Tech support downgraded me back to A02 but the problem still persists. We are now going to reimage.
I am not super technical, but i almost feel like the A03 driver changed a setting or two in the system which is causing the issues. -
I am running my Mac Book Pro with Bootcamp. Leopard on one partition and Windows 7 on the other. I updated the driver for the Nvidia video card then the screen went black. I tried to boot into the MAC side but the screen doesn't even show the optional boot screen. It does however sound like it's booting, I have tried hooking up a second monitor to see if it would show on that but it doesn't. I have also tried booting from the CD using the Win 7 disk, hoping that it would use the video driver on the disk instead. I'm either not doing it right (pressing ctrl & D whilst starting up) or that doesn't work either? I'm a bit lost? Don't know how to get to it.
Take your MBP to an Apple Store or an AASP. If you are still under warranty and/or have AppleCare, suggest that you take advantage of it & call Apple tech support.

See if this driver works. If it doesn't, you will need to install a 64 bit operating system if you want to run windows 7.
I know this driver works for the Celeron N processors, but I don't know if it will work with the Pentium N processors.
Download, unzip and run the setup.exe file.

[SOLVED]Asus UX32VD, problems with ACPI and Intel video driver
1. The bigger problem seems to be Intel video driver:
When xf86-video-intel is installed, screen stays black after booting. By adding "nomodeset" to grub doesn't help. If I don't start gdm while booting, I can boot to command line with "nomodeset". From command line I tried "startx", but X doesn't start, probably because "nomodeset" has disabled KMS and I've understood that Intel driver needs KMS for GNOME.
When xf86-video-vesa is installed instead of intel driver, screen is still black. By adding "nomodeset" to grub, I can see only mouse at gdm. If rebooting computer without gdm, I can start gnome from command line with startx and it works nice.
In both setups I can connect to laptop with ssh when screen is black. With ssh I checked screen brightness, but it was maximum.
Intel driver version: xf86-video-intel 2.20.1-3
2. The problem with ACPI is found from dmesg, I don't think this effects to graphics problem, because with vesa driver and "acpi=off" set to grub I can start Gnome with startx. I don't even know if it effects at all on my system, dmesg shows error which effects to displayport( intel_dp_i2c_aux_ch error) these maybe related to each others:
[ 2.588023] ACPI Error: Needed [Buffer/String/Package], found [Integer] ffff8801271a6000 (20120320/exresop-590)

[ 2.741836] [drm:intel_dp_i2c_aux_ch] *ERROR* too many retries, giving up
There is log files while booting with Intel driver and gdm set to start at boot in rc.conf, the screen is black, but got logs with ssh:

Can Someone Tell Me How To Update My Video Driver?
Hey there!
I want to start out by saying I am in no way "tech-savey" so if you can help me out in any means, a step by step process, or a relaitively simple answer would be GREATLY appreciate! Currently, I am playing a video game on my laptop (T61 Thinkpad) and I am told BY the game that my video drivers are out of date.
I was told to try and update them at the manufactures website after looking through the site I am at a loss on what to do. If someone can supply me with the link to download the latest driver, or tell me what I am doing wrong I would REALLY appreciate it! Thanks sooooo much !
My "Type" is 6457-BZ6
My Product ID is 6457BZ6
Also my OS is Windows Vista
Thanks SO much for the helpSomeone could give you better and more exact information but you didn't include the model number of your computer. But I can give you a pretty generic answer. At the top of this webpage you should see Product Support. Click on Laptops and then select which model of Toshiba computer you own, ie Satellite, Tecra, etc. Finally type in the model number of your computer. Select the exact model number and click the red Go button to the right. Click the Downloads tab and look thru the different drivers for this computer. Make sure that the new video driver is newer and has a higher version number than your current video driver. If it does, click the Download button, click the Run button and let it do the installation. Afterwards, reboot the computer so that the latest drivers are fully installed. Try again with that game.

Siliconmotion video driver no longer working
Updating xorg broke the siliconmotion video driver - the new module no longer works with my hardware - an asus laptop. I have to use vesa at 16. In previous incarnations I was able to fall back or build direct from xorg but the previous versions no longer work either (after also updating my desktop which uses nv - I believe it is because of the new hotplugging because the old nv module would start but would lose all input functionality) (but I see you actually now support the nv module so I no longer have to build my own).
I have tried building from scratch but siliconmotion-1.6.0 does not function with my asus

I am so sorry you guys couldn't get through to me. you can email, [email protected] anytime for full support.
On the issue of Lion, and the XLR8 devices?
Apple did change a number of items, that limited the XtraView's ability (this is the one, with the built-in audio on the older 2820 chipset). Audio, just won't work in 64-bit mode.
The easy workarounds are to boot into 32-bit mode (hit 3 and 2) on boot.
To check if you are in 64 bit mode, go to the System Profiler (Apple Menu > More Info > Software (left pane) and see if the 64 bit is loaded.
If in 32-bit mode you are still having an issue, please check that you are running XLR8 version 1.4.6. You can download new versions at http://XLR8.com.
You can email XLR8 for a free audio cable (Mac sound jack to RCA audio), or for $25, XLR8 can upgrade you to the new 2860 device that works in 64-bit mode.
Now, that hopefully, we have you working again... about Daystar. Actually XLR8 has always developed, built and shipped the devices. Daystar just had a bigger name and was an Apple Authorized Reseller. But, the Apple relationship ended, and Daystar closed.
XLR8, LLC will continue to support the devices and we will continue to provide great products and good support (sorry, we are a small company, and due to limited time... I can only provide "good" support. Maybe one day, it will be great.)
We are expanding the website at XLR8.com. You are always welcome to provide feedback and suggestions.
