Corrupt TIF files? How to recover?

Hello there Gentlemen and Ladies.........
I have recently had to recover 4000dpi scans which are TIF
from a erased disk (sad and painful), each scan took me 10 minutes
to complete , and now i have 130mb TIF files which Photoshop
cannot open, because it says they are not TIF format...!!!
I know they were fine before my recovery operation. clearly something
has gone wrong, what tool could uncorrupt the TIF files back to normal?
I can see their size is still 130mb after recovery, just the file format does
not open!
cheerio

I used Data Rescue X II to recover the files from the deleted 100GB partition,
it took me forever to recover them, and generating them was even more
of a pain (i rented a Nikon ED4000 to make them)
I need those images desperatley
A mate of mine suggested using a Windows PC to recover them, and move
the files on to Windows...i dare not
appreciate any help, surely there must be a way, there is good data in those 130mb files...

  • Corrupted tif files

    Hi All,
I was working on a big tif file 2g at size, I edit it with photoshop through adobe lightroom. Due to unknown reason, when i tried to save the file in photoshop, and I was informed the file is non-accessible. It ends up the file is disappeared from hardisk and I used some recovery software to retrieve the tif files. However, it seems a corrupted tif files which can't open in Photoshop or Irfanview.
the error message I got from photoshop is 'could not complete your request, because it is not the right kind of file'.. it is a tif file with layers.
I had tried to google and search, it seems there is no way to repair a corrupted tif files.
Do I have a chance to restore it using any method?
    thank you.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss of data.
Generally speaking, lost image data is usually really lost, especially if any recovered files you've identified to possibly contain your images are not opening in the ways you've tried...
Just basic stuff you've probably already thought of:
Have you made sure to rename files you're hoping to be TIFFs with the .tif file extension?
Did you File - Save As your file anywhere else?
Did you do a system backup that might have saved an earlier copy of the file to external media?

  • Corrupted TIF files restore

    Hello
as i was working on a TIF file in Photoshop, my computer unexpectidly restarted
then, when i opened my TIF work in Photoshop, an error message appeared "Could not complete your request beacause of a p^roblem parsing the TIFF file."
Looks like my file is corrupted, no ?
here is a .png version of the corrupted picture
the below half is totally black and a multicolor line devides the pic on the half
Can i send the .tif file to Adobe team so that you restore it ??
it seems Windows hasn't made a backup of the file before the accident
Here is a look of a previous .png version to see what it supposes to look like
    Thanks for your help

Yes, that file appears to have been corrupted on disk, probably beause it wasn't finished writing when the computer restarted (BTW - that probably means you have some defective hardware in the system, you need to get that looked at).
It is unlikely that anything more can be recovered.

  • Lightroom and corrupted tif files.

    For some reason, now when I right click on tif file in windows I'm getting a pop up box that states;
    Explorer. Tif:corrupt file.
This applies to all tif files on all drives.
I first noticed this with imported to lightroom from raw pef files, processed and then exported from light room.
it also includes files opened from Pentax RAW files, processed with ACR and CS2 then saved as tiffs.
    any ideas?
    Simon.

No. I'm running XP and my files are Pentax PEF raw files and tiffs created from these.
Tiffs opened from a cd are fine - as are tiffs copied to my PC from cds. It's as if windows has decided that there is a problem with all tiffs on the machine.
double clicking them - they open fine in CS2.
If I right click to get the menu - then the error message clicks in.

  • Anyone know how to repair a corrupted .DMG file? I recovered the file using Disk Drill. There are actually 4-6 files I have encrypted into a DMG - now they are back on my desktop (deleted them months ago) and the size is correct (between 500-900 MB each)

I deleted several .mov files a while back that were encrypted into a .dmg file. Using Disk Drill, I was able to recover 5 of these files, roughly 500-900 MB each and successfully moved them to my desktop. When I try to open the .dmg file, the dreaded error message "no mountable file systems" shows up. I have tried various fixes based on searches and none have worked. Are these files just corrupted and unreadable, or is there a way to fix?

Thanks for the obvious question. I mean it. The very same thought came to me this morning and, sure enough, I had booted into another drive--my old one that, of course, had the old desktop, etc.
It didn't dawn on me that this was the case since I hadn't set it as a boot drive but I guess in the course of all the restarts I did, it got switched.
    I'm back to normal again.

There are are no control files in the directory and I couldn't find them on the disk. Unfortunately, I do not have backups for dbs (this is a staging server). Is there any way we can recover those files or fix the problem ?
Could someone please help us on this?
    Thanks

He is not having any files in that location... not only control files, but the datafiles too.. in that case how is it possible ??? thats why I mentioned like that...
And yes, if the datafiles and redos are located in another location then we can recreate the controlfile.
But since it is a test system, I dont think there will be files in another location...
Please take it that I am not arguing with the GURUS and EXPERTS here..Well thought-out arguments are appreciated!
Perhaps the answer is to ls -l /u01/app/oracle/oradata
Maybe it's TESTDB or some for some other reason testdb really isn't the sid.
If it's a staging environment, where do things come from? If the data files are found on the staging server, but no controlfiles, perhaps alter database backup controlfile to trace on the source server might give something to work with.

  • Sudden Failure to Back Up Files - How to Recover?

After successfully backing up files from my desktop computer for several months, I got a failure, and subsequently messages that read "Time Machine is read-only". Below is the BuddyShare diagnosis for the day it happened.
I am using TM to back up both my desktop and my laptop computers.
Can I recover easily? Do I need to re-format? If so, how do I do that, and can I do it for the desktop only?
    Thanks for any suggestions

I had no luck. After exclusion from Spotlight, Back Up Now gave the familiar "TM is read-only" message. Same result after exclusion from TM Preferences.
Look at those messages again. Do you have one that references a file with a name like ".00xxxxxxxxx" where the x's are various numbers and letters?
If so, open the Terminal app (in your Applications/Utilities folder).
At the prompt, type the following exactly as shown, substituting the name of your TM drive exactly, including any spaces, between the quotes; and the file name (with the period):
    sudo chmod 644 /volumes/"TM drive name"/.xxxxxxxxxxxx
Press Return. You'll get some warnings and a request for your Administrator's password. Type it in (it won't be displayed) and press Return again.
    Then try a +Back Up Now.+
I would be happy to re-format and start all over, if necessary. Not sure how to do that with TM supporting both desktop G5 and MacPro laptop.
Depends. If they're both in the same partition, you can't do this without erasing both sets of backups. If it ever comes to that, I'd recommend putting two partitions on your TM disk, one for the exclusive use of TM on each Mac. Then all you have to do is erase the partition in question.

Which backup files are you wanting to read ?
If you didn't backup by yourself, there are no backup available.
It's astonishing to met users using an application without reading the user guide to know which features are available.
*_There is no backup tool in iWork applications_* and I'm quite sure that there will never be one because in Lion the backup feature is a component of the Operating System.

  • How to view corrupted word files, please help?

Can't view doc corrupted file .How to recover unsaved documents WORD? how to view corrupted word files, please help

It could be Word or even Windows that is having the problem. Before you start trying to restore a backup or repair a file, try opening other documents.
Try opening your "corrupt" document from another computer. Also you can try to make a copy of corrupted files. (It could work) : http://www.filerepairforum.com/forum/microsoft/microsoft-aa/word/968-i-would-be-grateful-for-any-help-to-repair-or-the-procedures-word-files
But if nothing helps, you can try to recover it by using DOCX Viewer Tool Download free demo versions of this software from website: http://www.docx.viewertool.com/ It’s
    gonna help.

    with

  • PDF files corrupted, how to recover them?

I am using ubuntu 11.04. Few days ago, I installed wine to run .exe programs on the system. Somehow .exe virus flooded into the system & the entire system has got corrupted. Now I am unable to view pdf files as all of them are corrupted. How can recover them now?

Some viruses destroy all PDF (and other types of file) on the system. If this is the case, they are gone, and you need to restore from backup.

  • How to recover corrupt passwd file for c6000+x6270?

hardware platform is c6000+x6270 blade, os disks have mirrorred.
in this environment, how to recover the passwd file(we have one copy)?
    Thanks

The procedure can differ depending which volume manager software you use, it this is the case. But basically, you should boot with an external media, like DVD or jumpstart server, mount the root partition and fix the /etc/passwd file, umount the partition and finally reboot.

I was using photoshop CC as normal, when suddenly it started going haywire. It has corrupted all the open PSD files by distorting the images and colour. They are now completely unrecognisable and unusable. Does anyone know how to recover the original images as I was saving them as I went along but the files are now corrupt?

What version of Photoshop are you running?
I've seen a couple of instances over the last week or two where Photoshop has added masks, strange colours and also merged content from two separate PSD files that were open at the same time.
This has occurred on two different iMacs, (both 10.10.x) running Photoshop CC 2014.2.2 (20141204.r.310 x64).

There are very less options . You can contact some third party companies who does these kind of corruption stuffs, but not sure whether it will be successfull.
You can also try this but not sure how far it will work out.
Create a new database with the same name, physical file name etc.
    Offline the new database.
Replace database files with the copy of .mdf and .ldf files that you already have.
Try to bring the database online.
If it goes into suspect, put it into emergency mode and run DBCC Checkdb. and try.
This is explained in the blog -
    http://www.sqlskills.com/blogs/paul/creating-detaching-re-attaching-and-fixing-a-suspect-database/
Check from this portion in the blog - "So, never detach a suspect database."
