Corrupted display, no explanation.

Hi,
I have a MacBook Pro (CD) that's almost a year old. I recently reformatted my hard drive and downgraded to 10.4.7 from 10.4.9 due to major stability issues. My computer was on all day, and I when I went over to check on it this evening, the display was really, really corrupted. The corruption was fixed with a restart, but it looked like my screen had been sliced all different ways. I've never had this problem before, and I don't think it would be from overheating, since I use a notebook chill pad and I keep my fans running at around 2000 RPM when plugged in. I've also noticed that since about January, the MBP's graphics performance has been lacking –even though I have the 256MB vram ATI card. I am a college student and can't afford to take my computer in before the end of the spring semester (mid-May).

I'm so happy to find this thread as that's why I'm hear mine has started doing the same and it's driving me insane. Another MBP user has suggested it's a logic board.
Anyone got any definitive answers ? I was thinking that maybe the "sleep image file" is corrupt that gets written out and maybe deleting that will help but i have no idea what that'll do to the system as a whole..
This will be my 2nd logic board fault if it is , to match the 2nd battery and the new CD drive ! How long before i have to scream at someone to get a Mac that works

    Multi-Monitor PSE 9 Corrupt Display
    Evening all -
First post here at PS Gurus.  I hope that you guys can lend your  expertise in pinning down an issue that I am having and have also had on  other PS versions.  I am running
    Windows 7 (64 bit) Ultimate
    2600k / 8 gb ram / 256 Samsung SSD / 460 GTX 1GB
    Matrox Triplehead 2 Go with x3 22" monitors (resolution 5040 x1050)
A fresh install of the trial version of PSE 9 is yielding corrupt main  toolbar and options bar (for each tool selected).  The application is  expanding full screen on all three monitors just fine but the toolbar  are corrupt - partly transparent / party compressed to the left.  No  matter what I have done in terms of resizing the application window the  results are the same or get worse.
On another computer I installed PS CS5 (also under win7 64 bit  environment) and I was having the same issue.  However, at the time I  thought the install was bad in some shape or form so I dropped the  issue.
I am now considering PSE 9 but see that Win7 + Matrox just isn't  working correctly with this combination of hardware / software  components.
Has anyone see this issue or know of a potential fix?  I have read a  couple of threads on the net with similar issues but I don't see any  resolution.  Your help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks-
    Benjamin

My main reason for testing PSE-O 9.0 was to find out if this "bug" was fixed. I can not use PSE-O to organize and show pictures the way I want to with this weaknes in place. Your answer is probably correct, bun not at all helpfull.
So thank you for trying, but my test of PSE O is over for now.
Does anybody out there know of other products that will do the trick?

  • ACE: Corrupted display on show crypto csr-params

    Hi,
I am getting corrupted display on below entry. Is this normal ? How can I delete the garbled entry in the display.
    FRONTEND_LBR1/Admin# sh crypto csr-params all

    Have you configured any csr-params?
I have seen this when there is no csr-param configured on ACE.
If you have configured atleast one csr-params and you are still getting it then its a bug.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 - Corrupt Display

    Good evening -
I finally broke down and bought a new DSLR camera.  Now, I only need an editing software to tighten up the images.  The only problem I am having is that Photoshop Elements 10 (and 9) GUI does not want to play well with my current rig.
    Key components:
    1) Win7 Ultimate 64
    2) eVGA 460 1GB
    3) Matrox 3H2Go with 3x22" lcds
No matter what I try to do, the menu bars are corrupt upon opening PE.   I have tried eliminating any desktop themes, GPU driver is most current, hardware acceleration off etc etc.
Any thoughts as to what might be going on?  I am sure it's related to scaling of the GUI with the Matrox Triplehead display.   It's the only program I have issues with in terms of working in this 3 monitor setup.
I have 29 days to nail this issue before I have to wait until release 11 comes out
Notice the menu bar is transparent?   I am looking for any suggestions.
This is why I run in x3 monitors...so don't say use one monitor

The editor prefs often get corrupted. You may need to rebuild the editor preferences to resolve any conflicts.
Hold down the Ctrl+Shift+Alt keys and simultaneously click on the Edit button on the welcome screen. Release the three keys and look behind the welcome screen by closing it. Or hold down the keys whilst double clicking on PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe
You should see a pop up box with the words: Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?
    Click on Yes
Close down Elements and re-open it in the normal way - then wait whilst it rebuilds the preferences.

  • ATI Radeon 5470 Corrupted Display Driver

Hi, I've updated to windows 8.1 and I'm trying to install the old ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 Display Drivers, but when I go to AMD website it tells me to download a new version, and after I install that version I get like 10 fps at Counter Strike: Global Offensive, I think that before I updated to Windows 8.1 I had the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 Display Driver, but it got corrupted so I had to download the new one, but I want to use the old version because atleast it was stable and I could run the game smoothly. Is there anyway I can download the ATI display driver that comes with the computer? Since mine got corrupted and I need to replace it. I don't even know how to keep windows from installing the corrupt one..
    Please help

    BUMP, @HP
I tried installing every driver that hp recommends me to from this website. Still when I restart my computer I get to a black screen after Windows Logo, but I can boot in Safe Mode (what I'm using right now), I read somewhere that I need to replace the atikmdag in my Drivers folder because it might be corrupt but I don't have any non-corrupted driver to replace it

    Hi,
I wounder if people can help.
I have just bought a FX5700VTD 256 for my system.
    550 Antec TruePower
    Athlon XP2200
    1Gig PC2700
    KT4V Mother board.
Swapped it out for an ATI9500 as I wanted the video capture.
However, on first time power up the display is corrupt and the system does boot.
I do a hard reset and everything is fine.
    Latest Vid drivers, patches, etc.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Robert Nash

    RobertNash,
Which one is giving the corruption? The 5700 or the 9500?
You are not really clear on this. Also what happens when you put it in the other comp?

  • Corrupted Display of Ovi Map Guides - N8

When I open any of the Online Services (city guides, Qype, weather, etc.) in Ovi maps on my N8, the information displayed is corrupted with big graphic blocks and the text formatted in odd ways. I'm on version 3.06. This was raised on another thread and solved by installing PR 1.1 but I've done this and it's not made any difference. Has anybody got another solution?

Sorry for any confusion over this, you do have the latest available version of OVI Maps installed and unfortunately don't know best way forward to resolve this issue.
Is N8 running PR1.0 or PR1.1 as might be opportunity to re-install device firmware?

  • Corrupt display

    Hi,
I have a 3000 N100. I was working in XP when the display suddenly went corrupt. The corruption looks a bit like when you drive a monitor with the incorrect horizontal and vertical frequencies. Rebooting and re-installing drivers (nVidia 7300) has not helped.
When POSTing, I don't even see the Lenovo screen (white screen), but a single horizontal line at the top. When XP starts up, I see the XP logo and marquee display for about 1 second, then the screen goes corrupt and stays that way.
If I don't shut down XP properly and the startup options appear (DOS screen), that displays OK.
Connecting a monitor to the VGA port works OK.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Graham

    Hi Steelman,
I think I've fixed my laptop, and it's a pretty easy job, assuming your issue is exactly the same. You'll be pleased to know that actually there are no faulty parts, just a connector not plugged in correctly.
The connector in question is the ribbon cable which attaches to the LCD. I noticed it when I took my LCD out to try in another faulty N100 (which I got off eBay to see if I could fix this problem). The ribbon cable plugs in to the back of the LCD and some sticky tape is used to stop it moving. As soon as I took the sticky tape off, the ribbon cable came away. After trying my LCD in the other N100, which didn't work either, I decided to put the LCD back in to my laptop. When reconnecting, I noticed that it was quite difficult to get it back in. You have to be patient and careful, but it clicks back in. It is a firm fit, and immediately I realised that my cable must not have been connected properly in the first place. So I powered back on the laptop, and bingo, it works perfectly.
I expect the reason it worked for a while was that the sticky tape was keeping the contacts just touching. But some movement, or expansion due to heat, or oxidisation of contacts, suddently led to one or more of the contacts not working and the fault developed.
To get at the LCD screen is pretty straightforward. You just remove the rubber gromits from around the screen and undo the screws. You then need to run a finger carefully around the edge to unclip the plastic. Once the cover is off, you should be able to bring the screen forward of the plastic case and get access to the ribbon cable. I think there are sellers on eBay who sell replacement LCD screens who have instructions on the eBay listing page.
Hopefully this is all your problem is.
    Good luck,
    Graham

  • ARD showing corrupted display

    Hi all,
Background to the problem - I have a digital audio dual 533MHz PowerMac G4 that I recently decided to set up as a home server. As a result I stashed it out of the way without a monitor or keyboard. The problem is that whenever it restarts the logon screen displays normally but the moment I log in the display corrupts (see screencap). When I log it out again the login screen displays normally. This problem can be fixed by connecting up a monitor to the PowerMac, in which case the ARD window displays fine up until the next time the PowerMac is rebooted.
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v83/Kasterborous/Computers/ARD1.png
Anyone got any ideas? I'm running ARD 3.1 and the PowerMac is running OSX Server 10.4.9.

That seems to be working - thank you both very, very much indeed, I've been after a fix for this for weeks

  • IPAD Corrupted Display

My display stopped working and is just a bunch of colored lines and corruption. Any ideas?

Have you tried to reset the device?
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
After that, if there is still no change on the creen, the next step - IMO - would be to restore the iPad. If that doesn't do it, an Apple Genius should take a look at the iPad.

  • Corrupted display with Qype etc

I have an N8 with 3.06 Maps.  All works fine except that Qype is no longer displaying correctly.  The main menu is now a list in very small print (reminds me of pre-smart phone menues) rather than large graphic blocks, and all sub menues have all but the first item greyed out (although they can still be selected).  When I first had the phone, the Qype display was fine.  I've recently installed the ITIS Traffic app, which itself does not display its text correctly (lots of sqare blocks and a few characters).  Could there be a conflict?  Can anyone advise on what might have gone wrong?
    Thanks
    Tony
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thanks.  I've successfully updated Maps to the latest beta version.  Unfortunately it has not cured the problem. It appears the problem is not just with Qype, but with most of the 'maps online services'.  I've attached screen shots from Qype (2) and AA.  I have no problem with any other aspect of the phone.  It seems as though the display function for these map applications is in some way corrupted. I am wondering if there is a memory allocation for the display of these apps that has become full?  Any suggestions would be really welcome.  I contacted Nokia Care, but they simply suggested setting the phone back to factory defaults, which I really don't want to do.

  • Tecra M1 graphics corruption: display becomes unreadable

My M1 is used with external monitor. Occassionally I get the video display corrupted. The display becomes unreadable and the mouse trails create a continuous 1cm wide path over the screens. It is barely possible to read anything on the screen in this situation; I can just find enough info to initiate a shutdown.
On restart everything is fine again. I have re-seated and swapped memory around, and I have just upgraded BIOS to the latest version availabel (which may help but I can't comment yet). Searched the internet for similar issues to no avail.
    Any ideas anyone?
Problem was very infrequent (monthly?) until recently, then 3 times in 2 days.

    Hello
I have noticed something similar but only when some avi or mpg file is open with Realplayer or WMP. While film is running every time when I remove player window to external display or bring it back to LCD I have this strange behavior. Just restart helps.
When the player is not moved everything is fine. I really dont why this happen but I can live with it and I didnt try to reinstall anything because this notebook I use for work only and dont want to change anything.
I just hope we write about the same thing. ;)

  • [SOLVED] corrupted display after graphical mode

    Hello,
    I am new to ArchLinux.
After Installing the system, I followed the instructions on wiki.archlinux.org and managed to launch the graphical mode (xterm and even KDE).
However, it seems that after exiting the graphical mode, my screen is corrupted (I suspect that text console becomes corrupted during launching graphical mode but it is not visible until returning to text mode).
The Linux itself works properly (f.ex. alt+ctrl+del works ok).
I added only exec xterm to the ~/.xinitrc file and I am using MSI netbook with intel graphics card.
I attached two pictures describing the problem:
    http://kdiablo.hostit.pl/img/DSC_0045.jpg
    http://kdiablo.hostit.pl/img/DSC_0048.jpg
    And logs from xorg:

I would be very helpful for any help!

I checked my graphics card as you advised.
    # lspci | grep -i vga
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Atom Processor D2xxx/N2xxx Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0b)
I also found in the netbook's specification that:
CPU: Intel Atom Processor N2800/N2600 Series
    Graphics: Intel GMA 3650
I could assume that indeed, https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Intel_GMA3600 would be the proper driver for me.
However, based on information from the website, the kernel version - 3.17.2, and the xorg version - 1.16, I am quite worried if I can try to install these drivers.
Are there any newer versions/similar drivers available?

  • Widget Manager - Corrupt Display Issue

    Hi
    Long time reader, seldom poster.
It is not often that I make use of the Apple Widget Manager, but during a break in social activities I noticed that I no longer had the Widget Manager icon on the dashboard. Clicking on the 'Manage Widgets...' button did nothing.
Trashing the preferences and repairing permissions brought it back, for a while. It has since disappeared again and the button has resorted to doing nothing.
When the icon did appear something very strange happened.
    [] Click 'Manage Widgets...' button
[] 'Widget Manager' would appear on the dashboard, completed boilerplate.
[] The widget would then build the list of Widgets to be managed.
[] On completion of the list, the boilerplate would turn into '?' icons.
[] The list of widgets is there and clicking on the various '?' would do
whatever the function underneath is supposed to do.
My understanding is that the '?' indicates that it could not find the graphic to display, but the graphic was there before the building the list of widgets.
I used Pacifist to reinstall the System/Library/WidgetResources from the 10.4.8 combo, but no change.
Any ideas as to what I should try now ?
    Thanks in advance
    Richard

  • Corrupt Display in PP CS6 During Hover Scrub

I'm running Premiere Pro CS6 on a Win 7 x64 machine with 12GB RAM with an ATI HD 4800 graphics card.  When I use hover scrub in the project window the video image goes inverted black and white and upside down!  This often leads to the same problem with the display in the program window.  Exiting and restarting does the same thing.  If I don't use hover scrub I have no problems with the video display and can produce projects without problems.
This also happened with Encore and a photo slideshow but the results were more colourful!
Graphics card drivers are up to date, as are OS patches and Creative Suite patches.
Any ideas?  I'm not using any specialised video hardware
    Premier Problem (above)
    (Encore problem above)

Yes, I have the same problem. Radeon HD 7950 with the latest drivers 8.01.01.1215 on windows 7 all service packs applied. The problem is frequent enough to be totally unproductive but sometimes Premiere keeps running for quite a while.
In my case my system blue screens and I need to boot up and start again. The problem seems to occur due to what is going on in the media library. Scrub never works unless the windows are large enough.
In the above image media is imported but none of it is touched. All looks well.
As soon as I move my mouse over the video the scrubbing starts but it renders weird.
The top right tile is being scrubbed. You can see how the video consists of various tiles that are scrambled. This does not happen when the video window is big enough. In this case the video contains color but sometimes it does not. Crashes happen in both cases very frequently 1 or 2 times per hour and sometimes continuously. I suspect it is a driver issue with ATI. It be the first and last ATI card I ever buy but I am stuck with it. It be nice if I could actually use the software though.
The above example shows scrubbing when the thumbnail is big enough. The Black and White / upside down effect occured with these same files in the same project about 1 hour ago.
    [UPDATE]
In the very same screen shown above the PC blue screened as soon as my mouse moved over the bit you can see of the bottom right thumbnail. Sigh.
