Corrupted iPod Data After Connecting 2 XBOX: Suggested Software 4 Recovery?

Hello! Recently after connecting my 120gb iPod Classic to my xbox I lost all my music, movies, pictures, and games apparently. Though I cannot see the files I can however see that one hundred some odd gigs of data are on the ipod. I was just wondering what steps I could take for recovery. Thanks in advance for your help!
Sidebar: I recently lost all the data on my iMac's hard drive and DriveSavers was only able to recover 50% of my drive. If I cannot recover the music from my ipod I will have lost it for good unfortunately. If you could help it would be GREATLY appreicated. To give you an idea of what i've tried so far, I purchased Stellar Phoenix's Mac recovery softward. It appears to have found some music but it keeps locking up. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Some of the tools rely on a fuctioning iPod database which yours obviously lacks, some are able to work with the raw files and a few even claim to be able to rebuild the database on the iPod.
And I've just recalled this from an ancient post of mine...
All the significant data about where your data is stored on the iPod is held in the file \iPod_Control\iTunes\iTunes.db. If this file is lost or damaged the iPod won't be able to find your tunes, even though the data is on the harddrive. Sometimes it is possible to rename a temp copy of the database, presumably made just before the last update, but these are not always present.
If you can get to see the hidden files on your iPod you might have such a file you could rename, it's a long shot but it might pay off.

Thanks Bob, I don't know why but it all of a sudden worked a few days later. It's a mystery but at least problem solved.

  • Lost all iPod data after 6.1.2 update!

My friend lost all of his data after updating to 6.1.2. Before the update, iTunes said something along the lines of "Data must be deleted to perform the update but when it is done the data will be restored".
After the update, the only thing that was restored was the music. No apps or app data (which was the most important thing).
Any way to get this back?

Sounds like the apps were not in the iTunes library. The first step of the update is iTuned making a backup. However, the backup does not included synced media like apps and music. If the apps are not in the iTunes library there is no place for the app date to g when the iPod is restored from the backup.
    Try redownloading the apps by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    The restoring from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
You can also restore from iCloud backup. see the above. When yo restore from iCloud backup the apps are automatically downloaded.

  • IPod freezes after connecting to PC/iTunes

I think it's a common problem that iPods freeze after plugging in the USB cable. I don't know if it's working for others, but if i do a reset (hold menu plus select) on the iPod while it is plugged and iTunes is running it works. But i have to do this every time i plug it in... So much to years of software development...

"All of my songs that were numbered or had numbers in the title are not at the bottom of the songs list instead of being the first songs listed."
I assume you meant to say "now" at the bottom of the list?
Unfortunately, like it or not this how the latest version of iTunes sorts songs. Numbers now appear at the end of the listings.

  • ITunes corrupting iPod data

I've been attempting to sync my new iPod classic for a couple of days now. My library is stored on an external HD and I have itunes mapped to it properly and whatnot but when I sync iTunes will get to a certain point, throw up code 69 and then finish the sync but the main problem is that it decides to corrupt all 100+ gigs of music. Throwing under the "other" category and making it unplayable. So I tried doing all artists separately by alphabetic but it only worked up to a point, and then corrupted all of the music again.
Yes I am ejecting it properly. Need help!

  • Why won't some songs play on 1st generation iPod Touch after paying to update to software version 3.1.3 (7E18)?

This weekend I purchased the software update for the 1st generation touch from iTunes to update it to version 3.1.3.  Prior to the update, the iPod was still 100% working.  The only reason I paid for the upgrade was so I could get the App Store.  Since upgrading, approximately 50% of my songs won't play.  When the problem occurs, the album art will show up on the screen, but after a few seconds of silence, the "play" button pops up indicating that the song paused or stopped.  If I push play again, it looks like it will play for a second or two, but then it does the same thing.  Then if I skip to the next song, and its a song the iPod likes, I can hit play and that song will play without a problem.  All the songs on my iPod have been downloaded from iTunes or ripped from CD's I purchased, so it's not like I have a bunch of shady, corrupt music files.  I'm just frustrated because Apple wants to charge me for support since this is an older product.  However, the product was working fine until the other day when I PAID for their software update.  If anyone went through a similar issue and has info it would be much appreciated.

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • Two corrupted ipods?

Ok, I'm having some very frustrating problems with my ipod/itunes.
itunes hasn't been able to recognize my ipod for weeks now, although it does show up in Windows. I've tried everything that Apple suggested to do on the support page related to this problem, but with no success. Finally, after reinstalling itunes for the millionth time, it recognized my ipod long enough to say it was corrupted. It said to try disconnecting and reconnecting before restoring it, which I did. After reconnecting it, the itunes didn't recognize it again. I plugged my husbands ipod in later tonight and it also says his is corrupted.
What are the chances of having two corrupted ipods? Does anybody have any suggestions on how to proceed? I'm just about ready to take a hammer to both my ipod and my computer, so any help would be appreciated.

  • Recovering data after factory reset (security issue)

    Hello there,
Recently a friend of mine asked me how to erase all data on an iPhone ? I pointed to him to "factory reset".
Now, I see a bunch of websites that show how to recover data after factory reset using their software, not sure if they work as advertised or not.
What I would like to know is if the user wants the data to be erased and non-recoverable, is this the best option or if there is any other option available in iPhone that can make the data un-recoverable. We want to make sure the data is un-recoverable after factory reset.
    thanks
    Ashish Shah

unfortunately this doesn't answer my question.
I do know the option to "erase all content and settings" in iPhone.
What I want to know is to make sure once done, no one can recover that data back. Since this phone will be sold off to some stranger, we don't want them to have access to the data.
Here are a few websites from my just preliminary search results that show how to recover data.
just google "extracting data after factory reset iPhone" and you will see a bunch of websites offering their products to recover. So I want to check if this is so simple, how can we really make sure the data is wiped off clean.

Hi! I am having the same problem. What's odd is that a few days ago- the ipad was connecting to the network fine. No changes made. Other devices can connect to this network. I have also been able to connect my ipad to other networks.
I have reset all network settings, reset my ipad, reset the router, hard stop reboot, turn on/off wifi connection. what's interesting is that when i click the arrow next to the network i am trying to log onto- the ip address, router, and dns numbers come up automatically and the router number does not fill in (also- this process takes a long time- at least 5 minutes).
    any thoughts?

Were you ever able to solve this problem? If so,
how? If not, did you see the same slowness copying
the files in Windows Explorer from the NAS to the
    iPod?
No I wasn't. To be honest I have essentially given up as even if I can fix it, disk space is cheaper than life is long!
Using the NAS in general is no problem. In fact, once iTunes got beyond the initial working out of what needed to be removed from and copied to the iPod, having all my MP3s on the NAS and copying direct to the iPod was no issue.
Following some sage (and frankly scary!) advice at ilounge (http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?t=163611), I've decided to keep two copies of my MP3s. The fact that my fiendish NAS plan has failed is hurting more than the not-all-that-traumatic reality of duplicating 140GB of files if truth be told!

  • IPod stuck in "connect to iTunes" screen after updating software

I wanted to update my iPod touch to iOS5 after waiting for a long time. I synced and transferred purchases twice to make sure all my stuff was in my iTunes library, and then updated it. The update went fine but there was an error message saying that it could not restore the iPod. I went to troubleshooting and it said to update to the latest version of iTunes, which I did, involving a restart. When I started up iTunes again, it said it was the most recent version 10.7 and all of my songs, apps, etc. are in the library. The problem is I can't get my iPod to connect to iTunes now. It went into the connect to iTunes screen before I updated the software and it has stayed like that. I tried plugging and unplugging it, switching the USB ports and cables, putting it into recovery mode, but it will not show up on iTunes or on my computer. I also noticed that when I hold down the sleep/wake button for a few seconds, it shuts down immediately instead of having the "slide to power off" screen come up, and then the apple comes back onto the screen and it goes to the "connect to iTunes" screen again. I have tried all of the troubleshooting guides on the website, but it doesn't change the screen. I tried putting it into DFU mode and something came up on the computer saying "installing driver software" and it said DFU mode or something, which usually happens when I plug in my iPod, but after my iPod wouldn't turn on at first, and when it did, the same screen came up again. When I unplug it from the USB cable, it stays on the screen for about a minute before it turns off and the screen goes black. This is the screen it's stuck on
I'm not sure what else to do, all suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much.

You try on another computer to help determine if you have a computer or iTunes problem. If it works on the other computer that indicates a computer problem and more work is required to fix that problem.
