Corrupted Preview [.jpg] But Image is Fine When Exported!

Hello,
I have an image that is corrupted when it is viewed within Aperture... i.e. the image is noisy and looks very over-sharpened. The image definitely didn't look like this when I imported it into my library.
It's a .jpg with no Adjustments applied (all of the tick boxes are cleared).
I have tried to 'Update Preview' to no effect.
I tried deleting and rebuilding the previews for the entire project that the image belongs to and that hasn't solved the problem either.
I haven't experienced this problem with any of my other images, whether they are RAW, .jpgs or .tiffs.
I'm running 2.1 and this problem has only been apparent since the upgrade.
Do you have any ideas?
Thank you for your time!

Hello firstlaunch!
Thanks for taking the time out to help.
Here is a screenshot of the 'corrupted' image as seen fullscreen in Aperture:
http://adamwalton.co.uk/images/stonecircle.png
And here is a screenshot of an exported version of the image as seen in Preview:
http://adamwalton.co.uk/images/stonecircle_export.png
If I export the image as a master, the master looks perfect, and if I then reimport it into Aperture it shows the same 'corruption' as posted in the first link.
It's very strange!!!!
I assume it must be a bug, but if you can offer any possible explanations / solutions I will read them most gratefully!
thanks,
Adam

Welcome to the 'wonderful' world of HTML5 e-learning.
In my view, from the issues I am seeing everywhere, HTML5 output from rapid e-learning tools such as Captivate is not ready for the kind of mobile device e-learning you want to develop.
Sorry to be pessimistic, but you may need to consider going back to the drawing board and coding it from the ground up.

  • The image for my podcast is displaying in Itunes preview pages, but does not display when I subscribe

So the image arwork is appearing here:
    http://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/wa-families-of-the-future/id538653708
However after I have subscribed, the artwork for this one doesn't come up in my iTunes podcast folder. The related RSS feed for this link is:

While the image which appears in the Store page is referenced in the feed, the image which appears when you select a downloaded episode after subscribing is not: it has to be actually embedded in each episode's media file. Please see this page for a full explanation:

  • Photoshop diplays all images with desaturated colors (Images look fine when opened in other apps)

All of a sudden, when I open any image in Photoshop, the colors appear to be desaturated...In Photoshop only. When I open that same image in Window Picture Viewer, or Quicktimer, or even if I drag the image into a brower window, the colors appear fine. But in Photoshop, something is clearly wrong. Now, I can make color adjustments to the image, but when I save and reopen reopen it in another application, I can see that color changes have been made, but they still don't match what Photoshop is displaying.
The images are RGB image...I've checked the color space setings in Photoshop, and they are the default (Edit > Color Settings: North American General Purpose 2 / RGB: sRGB IEC61966-2.1 / CMYK: US Web Coated (SWOP) V2, etc, etc). I also made sure View > Proof Setup was set to: Working CMYK. I even reset Photoshop to it's default settings (by holding down CTRL-ALT-SHIFT on launching Photoshop)...But the images still appear desaturated when I open them in Photoshop...So, I don't understand how this is still a Photoshop problem...But then again, they look fine when I use any other application on my computer to open them, so it's clearly not an issue with my monitor.
The frustrating thing is, I haven't made any changes to Photoshop OR my monitor (that I know about)...Photoshop has worked perfectly for me for years, and now there's this SNAFU that I just can not figure out.
    Any suggestions?
I've included a screenshot below to show the disparity between an image opened in Photoshop (on left) and Windows Picture Viewer (on right):
Photoshop image on left, with desaturated colors...Same image in Windows Picture Viewer on right, where colors appear normal.
Any and all help is much appreciated : )
    Best,
    -Austin

It's difficult to provide help without knowing your level of color-management expertise, but I think you've helped us some with that in post number 2.
Color management is basically this:  Images and devices have certain color characteristics, and these are described by color profiles, sometimes also called color spaces.
    1.  You should not need to use the Proof Setup at all to view your images on your monitor.  When things are set up properly Photoshop shows you accurate color without your choosing View - Proof Colors.
    2.  A color-managed application like Photoshop will try to show you accurate color on your display by interpreting both the image profile and your monitor profile and transforming the colors accordingly.  BY DEFINITION this will look different than other applications which don't do color-management as these just pump the image RGB values directly out to the display.
    Thus:
If your monitor profile indicates your monitor has a wide gamut, images with embedded profiles may appear less saturated inside Photoshop than from non-color-managed apps.
If you view images that have an embedded wide gamut profile (such as Adobe RGB 1998 or ProPhoto RGB), Photoshop and other color-managed applications will interpret that profile and the colors will likely appear more saturated in Photoshop than in a non-color-managed application.
It sounds as though the first case applies in your case here.
You can check to see what monitor profile is associated with your monitor through OS settings.  I'm thinking, based on the caption buttons in your screen grab, that you've got Windows XP, but rather than go further with that assumption, I'll ask you to verify it first.

  • IPhoto 11 previews folder but images in masters folder gone

I hope someone can help because I'm stumped. I put photos in iphoto and then edit them and they go into the previews folder but for some reason they are being deleted from the masters folder so when I go to edit an image it says it can't be found. I know the photos are in the previews folder and I have to reimport the images but can't figure out why they are being deleted from the masters folder as I'm not deleting them in iphoto. Also I assume that if I delete a photo in iphoto it will delete also the previews, is that correct?
Somehow there are photos that I have not edited that have ended up in previews but are not in masters.
    Any thoughts would be helpful
    Thanks
    Derek

Try rebuild with iPhoto Library Manager
    Note the Caveats:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • How can I get all of my images to appear when exporting from InDesign (CS2) to a pdf?

Many of my images are disappearing when I try to convert them. I had this same problem last year, but I would just replace the picture (which was a huge pain because there are 24 images per page) and then eventually after a few attempts they would all show up. Any ideas what the problem is?

OS = Operating System for your computer (and the version of the operatiing system, please, like Windows 7 x-64 or Mac OS X 10.8.3).
Patch level is which updates you have installed for your version of ID. CS6 is version 8, and the latest patch is 8.0.1. If you don't know, once you tell us the OS we can tell you how to find out.
Preview mode is accessed from a button at the bottom of the Toolbox, from the View menu, or by pressing W when the text tool is not active. It makes the pasteboard disappear, along with non-printing objects.

  • Images appear faded when exporting to pdf

Hello, I have .png images in my document; and regardless of the blend space I choose, or pdf export settings, the images appear faded when I export to pdf. I noticed that when I print the file as a pdf, the colors don't change, it only happens when I export, so I'm assuming it's related to pdf export settings? any help would be appreciated. another thing that might be relevant; in the document, when it's just a single image on the page, it doesn't appear faded in the exported pdf. but when there are several images together, overlapping on the page, fading occurs. also, if I select compatibility as acrobat 4, images are not faded in the pdf, although they do appear lower quality. but i can't set compatibility at 4 because i have several movie files and hyperlinks embedded, which 4 doesn't allow. hope i've made sense, i'm new to indesign, using CS3.

Hi Peter, I changed the colorspace in acrobat to the same as indesign, sRGB... + US web coated v2.. then I exported again, but still have faded text in text boxes as well as faded images (.png files). I notice when i zoom in and out quickly, the images flicker a bit and look how they should but when I stop they stay faded. I'm just curious if anyone were to place a .png image in their indesign + export to pdf, whether they'd get the same result.
as far as the monitor goes, to be honest, im not sure if it's calibrated. and i feel bad asking what that means

  • Images appear underexposed when exporting

Newbie here. Forgive me if this has been discussed, but I did a quick search and didn't see anything.
When I edit raw files in Lightroom and then export them for posting on Flikr or Facebook, the exported images look underexposed when compared to the Lightroom file.  Why is this?  And, how do I compensate for this so that my exported file looks like the edited file in Lightroom?

But I'm actually looking at the images on the same screen.  So, calibration shouldn't be the issue, correct?
No, not correct. A color-managed application like Lightroom, uses the display profile (assuming you have one) to compensate for your screen. A non-color managed viewer (like most web browsers are), will just dump the image onto your screen.
If you don't calibrate and don't have a display profile attached to your display (maybe a crappy one provided by manufacturer), then, yes, most probably your export in a color space other than sRGB. Check in your export dialog.

  • Speed change isn't blurry in the canvas but it is blurry when exported

I have a video using all HDV footage at 29.97 fps and I've slowed it down to 58% and I've taken off Frame Blending. I'm familiar with how this is supposed to look, and It looks fine when I play it in the timeline, but when I export it out as a Quicktime movie it is very blurry, considerably more than on the canvas playback. Also, there's an extreme color correction effect applied to all the footage as well and it becomes extremely muted when I export the footage.

Did you use CS5 or CS6 in the past? Did you set those apps to use offline help only so that you didn't have to watch Adobe Air update itself every time you tried to open Help? If so, there might be an old Adobe Help (CS5 / CS6) preference lingering on your machine. You wouldn't think CC would respect it, but you would be wrong. I had to install old Adobe Help (for CS5 / CS6) and change the pref.
I downloaded the outmoded Adobe Help app by way of: http://www.adobe.com/support/chc/?helpcfg=http://help.adobe.com/HelpCfg/en_US/Dreamweaver. helpcfg&url=http://helpx.adobe.com/en/dreamweaver/topics.html&product=dreamweaver

  • First Play at Preview ok, but not working correctly when Video started from DVD

    Hello
I created a Project with Encore CS5.1. When i test via the "preview" button (disc symbol) everything works fine.
When i export the Project to a DVD the Video starts directly with the Main Menue although i expect starting with the intro clip. As i said with encore preview everything works fine.
Has anybody an idea how to solve this issue?
    Thanks in advance
    Rene

    Hi Bill and John
    Thank you for your feedback.
Attached i'll send you a screen shot of the flow chart and the specs.
I just created a new project with only the "Vorspann - Trailer" and the Main Menue. All other links are not created yet.
With the preview everything is ok but if i create an image the video starts directly with the Main Menue.
    Kind regards and thanks again.
    Rene
    With preview ok
Crate an image or DVD > video starts with direct play of the main menue

I tried exporting the enviroment variables from /etc/makepkg.conf, to no avail. I also tried adding the girara include files to CFLAGS, but it throws the same kind of error about some gtk dependency.
I don't know if this is a general issue, but as I can compile it through makepkg I don't think this is due to zathura.
Does anyone have a clue on what could be wrong here?

In the PKGBUILD, they are cloning the repo by doing :
    _gitroot="git://pwmt.org/zathura.git"
    _gitname="zathura"
    git clone $_gitroot
    cd $_gitname && git checkout --track -b develop origin/develop
Are you doing the same ?

  • Continual "you seem to have a corrupted iPod" messages - but iPod is fine

Since upgrading to itunes 7.0.2 whenever I try and re-sync i continually get the above message - the ipod is fine - it plays just as before - but for last 2 weeks been unable to get new music onto it - any ideas?

I had the same problem and managed to fix it. If you recieve and error saying that your iPod can't be read or written to try this:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301267
From what I've read in other threads it can also be caused by corrupted songs.
    Good luck!

Please help us to get this solved. We tested the webserice URL which works okay. Port 2195 is also open. APN certificate is also not expired. What could be the problem that app when tested before live was sending push notification and when it is live, it has stopped!?

This would seem to be a question better posted in the App Developers forum.

  • How can I make my images look good when exporting to PDF document?

Hello! I'm struggling here with a PDF Brochure that I need to create (intended for web only, not print).
There are two images that look horrible and pixelated when I create my PDF file. I have tried everything, making the images bigger and smaller, using 72 dpi images and 300 dpi ones. Everything results the same way... It looks perfect in my InDesign file, but in the PDF it looks all damaged. Here are two screen shots, one of how it looks in the PDF and one of how it looks in InDesign.
Could you please tell me what I need to do to guarantee that the image looks good quality in the PDF? (My document is 40cmx20cm, I don't not if using cm is affecting the document).
To export to PDF I'm using the option: Adobe PDF pressets --> Smallest file size.
If you can help me I would really appreciate it!
    Thank you,
    Nataly.

Terrible idea. In a JPG the text will not be alive, you loose all interactivity.
And making JPGs with InDesign is not what the program is meant to make.
