Corrupted software

I have a high-end Epson printer that is about five years old. I tried to download its driver (only available through Software Update - no downloads anymore) so I could print from the MacBook Pro (using a 400 to 800 firewire adapter) and the process corrupted my browser as well as program I had open at the time (Photoshop). Now the Adobe CS won't open and the browser crashes. Is there a way to repair these files and avoid having to do a full restore from scratch via Time Machine?

I’m so with you on that.. it’s such a simple thing to include and useful as. I’ve been hanging out for this to be added at some stage. Particularly when you’ve got 8000 songs on your 60 gig pod and it’s still not full.. by the way does anyone have any ideas what could have turned the text in my itunes into little squares? I’ve done every uninstall,reinstall,move folders etc etc under the sun, gone back to vers 6.. you name it, and all the main command text little boxy square.. song titles and artist etc ok.. win xp, sp2, centrino duo, some input would be well appreciated.. I can’t read any of the text!

I'm new to this and i was just wondering if anyone could help me.

The problem is that nothing is working and i don't want to format my mass memory.

Download Nokia PCSuite 7.1.18.0 and Nokia Software Updater 1.4.85 from Nokia site, then install NPCS first. Connect phone. Then NSU. After that make a memory backup, first on your memory card, next by Content copier from NPCS. After this Open NSU and follow commands.
But after backup memory you can try to soft reset by dialing *#7370# this reformat your phone and restor software as from factory, but with latest software, if you updated.

Corrupted software installation in cFP-2020....

My cFP-2020's status led flashes three times, I know that means a corrupt
software installation.
I think someone in my department tried to do something and after doing it
wrong she decided to install the whole operating system from scratch.
Now it seems that I cannot recover the installation: the system is
unavailable, and if I try to install the firmware following instructions on
the manual I end up getting an unrecoverable error. BTW, the installation
process is very slow and it end at around 75% of the entire procedure.
Any help as to how I can reinstall the software would be greatly
appreciated.

First, try FTP'ing to the cFP-2020 and delete all files that you possibly can. This can be done by opening a web browser (Internet Explorer) and typing in ftp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where the x's are the ip address. You probably will not be able to delete all files, but delete as many as you can.
Next, set the Reset dip switch into the ON position and cycle the power on the cFP-2020. You should notice that the status LED will blink 1 time continuously. At this point, set the Reset dip switch to the OFF position and cycle the power again. Now you should be able to configure the module as well as install the software for the module.

My mac will not start due to a corrupted software update.

My mac will not boot into mountain lion OS which I think is due to a failed or corrupted software update.. I can access the recovery menu but I cant reinstall OS over the Internet. I have also tried to repair the disk but will not let me and foolishly I haven't backed up my mac up through time machine. If you want to preserve the data on the boot drive, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to fully boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
1. Boot into Recovery (command-R at startup) or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in the support article linked below, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”

If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode by holding down the key combination command-T at the startup chime. Connect the two Macs with a FireWire or Thunderbolt cable. The internal drive of the machine running in target mode will mount as an external drive on the other machine. Copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.

3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.

Error 14 and corrupted software

my iphone 6 has currently been in a locked state for a day now
everytime i restore from itunes the download gets corrupted and shows the message (the software for _iphone_ was corrupted)
i tried manually installing but get error 14

When you say a locked state, are you referring to the fact it is disabled? If so, see this support document. Forgot passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support
When you say you try to manually install, could you provide a little more detail? Also, you can see this support document for update and restore errors. Seems error 14 is generally related to a USB issue. Get help with iOS update and restore errors - Apple Support

Corrupted software for 4.1

I have iPhone 4, with version 4.0.2 and updating thru a MacBook Pro. After download it tried to update but error popped up saying software corrupted during download! Tried twice now, no good, is anyone else getting this?

I had the same issues - plugged iphone 4 running 4.0.2 into iTunes and got advised update 4.1 was available so proceeded to download it.
About 3/4 of way through upgrading, the install crashed - no error number just a message stating 'Could not complete installation'. iPhone 4 was in Recovery Mode still - so shut down and restarted pc and iTunes and was told that phone was in recovery mode so need to do a restore which i tried 3 times, but it crashed again each time.
Phone was left in Recovery mode and the only way I could get it out of this mode was to download RecBoot. Launched RecBoot and selected to 'Exit Recovery Mode' - iPhone rebooted - and iTunes asked me if i wanted to set it up as a new phone or as the previous phone, i chose the latter.
The phone was restored and guess what - it is running 4.1 so i dont know why it kept crashing. Finally got to bed around 1am - tired little boy i was too.

Corrupt Software Updates and Downloads

Sorry if there is already an answer floating around for this, but I have not been able to find it.
Whenever I try to download and install updates from Software Update, during the installation process I get an error message saying that all of the downloaded updates are corrupted. Sometimes after downloading updates for Logic and iLife 10 to 15 times, the update will finally install, but the combined update to 10.6.4 never installs and the same thing also applies to iPhone updates via iTunes and occasionally a rar, zip, or dmg file. Is there an fix for this? Thanks in advance!

iPhone software updates through iTunes always give me an error that says they are corrupted, and occasionally a dmg or rar file will be corrupted (like 1 in 10), but apps and music downloaded through iTunes always download fine.

Mac wont shut down, restart or sleep - corrupted software update?

My Mac Pro (2007 - OSX 10.6.7) will no longer shut down, restart or sleep. When I try to shut down, it logs me out of my user account, shows the light blue screen, momentarily shows the Leopard space background screen, before showing the blue screen again, and finally returning to the login screen prompting for my user/password.
The only way to poweroff from this point is to hold down the power switch until it forces a power down. This issue has been present for the last two weeks or so ever since I did a Software Update containing a security update. Initially it just failed to perform that update, although after a few days it did do the update, seemingly by fluke. After that, the problem persisted and now there is a new update (Fonts) which again fails to update.
I have tried all of the following:
Power off Mac, unplug power and leave for a few seconds
Power on Mac holding down Ctr + Opt + R + P (resetting PRAM etc)
Boot up from install CD and perform Disk repair (it did find problems with the disk and repaired them)
Check and repair permissions
Delete Software Update related plists & caches from ~/Library and /Library
Still the problem persists. Examining the logs shows me this:

I can paste the crash report referred to in the logs if that would be helpful but for now will leave it out as it's huge and largely full of gobledygook.
I'm at my wits end now. I've always been very proud that in ~4 years of Mac ownership I've never had to reinstall OSX - something I used to do on an anual basis with Windows. My next step probably is a full reinstall, but I really do consider it a drastic step and a last resort.

As a followup, upon the advice from someone else I created another user account (non admin) and logged in as that user. From that account I could successfully power down.
I'm still convinced the issue is related to Software Update as examining the logs showed none of the Software Update related entries as above:

Uninstalling Corrupt Software Update Patch

Hi,
I was checking for the method to uninstall any software update patch in case need be. I came across one of the switch to use with the task sequence as below to uninstall any specific patch from systems :
C:\Windows\System32\wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:2781197 /quiet /norestart
where KB number is any patch which we would like to remove. The task sequence gave up the below error in TSAGENT.log but execmgr.log is clean without any errors :

I tried creating a package just to check if that works, however several users have reported that task sequence is the only method that works but as that was not working in my case, so tried the package with a batch file using the same script as mentioned
above but that came up with the below error :
EnterRsRuningState failed to run script PatchRemoval.bat 0x87d01106
If i try to run the same script using the CMD prompt manually on client machine, it successfully removes the patch silently.
Not sure why this is not working as a task sequence.

I am just wondering if i have used the command right (i believe i have), because one of the errors says
On another system where this patch was already installed, there were not eventviewer logs generated for today. There were old logs and one of them was as below :
Windows update could not be installed because of error 2147942487 "The parameter is incorrect." (Command line: ""C:\Windows\system32\wusa.exe" uninstall KB2914218 quiet norestart ")
Any idea about the below ? What does this mean ?

Photoshop elements corrupt software

Hello: the edit feature in my PSE 5.0 locks my computer when I try to edit a photo. A dialogue box says that the app failed to start because PLUGIN>dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem. When I go the re-install my software disk using the repair option, a dialogue box tells me to install disk 1. The only disk I have is in the computer. I can't go any further. How do I fix my editing problem?

You have to uninstall and reinstall (you won't lose your catalog). Be
sure to disable anti-virus software during the process.
Repairs have never worked with PSE.

CSS 11150 corrupt software - unable to upgrade

Hi
We have an 11150 with no software on the flash - deleted. We are in OFFDM and unable to upgrade via FTP. The device just reboots and before IP comes up returns the error:
READING CONFIGURATION RECORDS FAILED
It then goes straight back into OFFDM.
The strange thing is that this error happens even beofre IP is up so it cannot be trying to FTP the new file yet.
How do we recover from this?

We have connected the Management port to a switch and enabled portfast ( I even disabled keepalives to get the line protcol to come up immedialtey ).
A continuous ping to the IP only starts reponding after the "READING CONFIGURATION RECORDS FAILED" message and once we are back in to OFFDM.
When OFFDM starts all the FTP Boot parameters are gone.
Any ideas?

WLC 4402 w/ corrupt software

Adobe Audition CS5.5 corrupted a session

I recorded a couple of sessions with Audition. The waveforms appeared onscreen as usual. Once the session was finished, I tried to play the audio back. The waveform changed to a repetitive pattern and the audio played one second looped from beginning to end. The whole session was apparently corrupted. The other session is similar, yet the waveform still exists. Has anyone had an issue like this occur? Is it corrupted software? Is there any way to recover the audio, or do I need to re-record the sessions?

The audio goes straight to disk so you probably shouldn't need to re-record it..
