Corruption of data

Something very strange is happening in our environment - when I run a query logged in as Administrator on my PC (Windows 2000), everything is fine. When I am logged in as myself (with admin rights), the data returned is corrupted and displays junk. We work in a very strict securitry environment (large commercial bank) and initially I did not even have admin rights. I have subsequently required admin rights, but it does not make any difference to the corrupt display of data. ANybody had a similar experience?

  • Corrupt SRUDB.dat in WIndows 8.1 - Event ID 476

    Hi all,
    I have an issue slight issue with a Windows 8.1 machine (non domain joined). The user was complaining that the system/applications would become unresponsive. I ran a "Chkdsk /f /r" and it came back with a few bad clusters of which some where located
    in the "\Windows\System32\sru\SRUDB.dat" file.
    In the Application Event Log I see an event ID 476 raised which contain the following:
    svchost (1300) SRUJet: The database page read from the file "C:\WINDOWS\system32\SRU\SRUDB.dat" at offset 2195456 (0x0000000000218000) (database page 535 (0x217)) for 4096 (0x00001000) bytes failed verification because it contains no page data.
    The read operation will fail with error -1019 (0xfffffc05).  If this condition persists then please restore the database from a previous backup. This problem is likely due to faulty hardware. Please contact your hardware vendor for further assistance
    diagnosing the problem.
    I'm running an "sfc /scannow", but it looks as though the actual SRUDB.dat database has become corrupt. What does this DAT file contain and is there a way to recreate?
    SFC retunred:
    Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
    of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
    example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
    supported in offline servicing scenarios.
    I can post the CBS.log file if required, but toward the end there are some interesting entries:

    Hi Swinter,
    “WD diagnostic showed there were unrecoverable errors” “the system seems to be stable”
    Since there are unrecoverable errors and it has much possibility to relate to the drive. The error will occur again if the hardware issue is not be resolved. If the issue is under tolerant , I recommend you to back up your important data to a separate media.
    This is vital to avoid of losing important data due to the unexpected drive corruption. Making a full system imagine is a better choice, though the error may be included.
    If you decide to replace the hard drive ,this video may be helpful.

    Hi all!
    Since I've spent some days now trying to figure out what was wrong with my file upload in Struts 1.1, I would like to share my solution with the rest of you in order to spare you for the same amout of wasted time I've spent :-)
    My platform is Resin 3.0.8 and Struts 1.1. My problem was that JPEG's got corrupted when arriviving at the server. After a few days searching on the net, I tried with a plain servlet and the O'Reilly package, and the app worked perfect.
    Here is my servlet:
    package no.yourcompany.yourapp.servlet;
    import com.oreilly.servlet.multipart.MultipartParser;
    import com.oreilly.servlet.multipart.Part;
    import com.oreilly.servlet.multipart.FilePart;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest;
    import javax.servlet.ServletException;
    import javax.servlet.ServletContext;
    import javax.servlet.RequestDispatcher;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream;
    public class ImageUpload extends HttpServlet {
    private static final String PAGE_RECEIPT = "/popImageUploadReceipt.do";
    private static final int MAX_FILE_SIZE_IN_BYTES = 10000000; // 10 M
    * Extracts image from request and puts it into person form.
    * @see HttpServlet#doPost(javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest, javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse)
    public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
    throws ServletException, IOException {
    // custom beans from my project, not defined here
    PersonRegistrationForm personRegistrationForm = null;
    PortraitImage portraitImage = null;
    ByteArrayOutputStream outputStream = null;
    Part currentPart = null;
    FilePart currFilePart = null;
    personRegistrationForm = (PersonRegistrationForm) request.getSession().getAttribute(DsnSessionKeyConstantsIF.KEY_PERSON_FORM);
    portraitImage = personRegistrationForm.getPortraitImage();
    try {
    MultipartParser parser = new MultipartParser(request, MAX_FILE_SIZE_IN_BYTES);
    while ((currentPart = parser.readNextPart()) != null) {
    if (currentPart.isFile()) {
    currFilePart = (FilePart) currentPart;
    outputStream = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
    currFilePart.writeTo(outputStream);
    // portraitImage is just a bean for encapsulating image data, not defined in this posting
    portraitImage.setContentType(currFilePart.getContentType());
    portraitImage.setImageAsByteArray(outputStream.toByteArray());
    portraitImage.setOriginalFileName(currFilePart.getFileName());
    break;
    } // if (currentPart.isFile())
    } // while ((currentPart = parser.readNextPart()) != null)
    } catch (IOException ioe) {
    // noop
    // redirect to receipt page
    ServletContext servletContext = this.getServletContext();
    RequestDispatcher requestDispatcher = servletContext.getRequestDispatcher(PAGE_RECEIPT);
    requestDispatcher.forward(request, response);
    } // doPost
    } // ImageUpload
    AND ADD THIS TO YOUR WEB.XML
    <servlet>

    AND THE HTML-FORM IS HERE
    <form action="/yourapp/imageUpload.do" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data" accept="image/*">

  • Getting JPEG Library Error for Corrupt JPEG Data using CS5

    After recently upgrading to CS5 I am getting JPEG Library Errors for corrupt JPEG data. I have my old PC still in use that uses CS4 and does not generate these errors when accessing the same site. Could someone please assist me in how to get rid of these errors using CS5? I can't find help out there anywhere for this!
    Thanks in advance!

    You could use Photoshop's Image Processor to open all of your jpegs in a given folder, make a slight tweek and resave them in the hopes of cleaning out any errors that DW is hitting. It's worth a shot maybe.
    1. In PS go to File > Scripts > Image Processor
    2. For Step 1, browse to a folder in your site with jpeg issues
    3. For Step 2, choose save in same location
    4. For Step 3, choose Save as JPEG and check Convert File to sRGB
    5. Click Run
    This will create a sub folder called JPEG with the images resaved there. You can drag them into the parent folder to replace the originals.
    If you haven't already, make sure to report the bug here: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
    At least the right people will be made aware of it then and if it's common enough to trip whatever quantity/user reports system they use, it would get included for repair.
    I honestly don't think it's a "bug" per se, since the forum isn't absolutely flooded with the problem.

    Hi,
    I am trying to upload pdf files using a servlet. The Enctype of the form which calls this servlet is multipart/formdata. I use O'Reilly upload component which uses the class MultipartRequest to do the uploading. The form has textboxes and textareas whose data is also submitted.

    Whenever I open the Assets tab in Dreamweaver 8 (am using XP

    Most likely because the image has a corrupted data segment
    that your limited

  • Corrupt JPEG data causing shutdown issues

    I've found the following log entries in system.log, as I am having a problem with shutting down my applications.
    System Preferences[266]: Corrupt JPEG data: premature end of data segment
    Dec 1 15:22:42 system-name [0x0-0x25025].com.apple.systempreferences[266]: Mon Dec 1 15:22:42 system-name.local System Preferences[266] <Error>: Corrupt JPEG data: premature end of data segment\n
    I think it might be related to corrupted wallpaper in JPEG format.
    Is there any way of finding out which files are corrupted so that I can remove them?

    Thanks.
    I figured a way to do determine if a JPEG was corrupt.
    It was actually quite visible using the Cover Flow method, the jpeg wasn't showing up properly. I was afraid there was other corruption that wasn't so visible.
    What I did was, I opened up my Console from Utilities and watched the logs. As I scrolled through each picture using Cover Flow, an error would show up in the console logs.
    That's how I figured it out, thanks for your ideas!

If i open, i get the message "Opening User Data One moment please..." with an eternal spinning wheel of death (SWOD). If i restore (apple-option merge) i immediately get the SWOD, If i merge, i am notified that the merge is successful, but then i get the spinning wheel of death before any data is displayed. I can open the userdata in textwrangler and see all of the phone numbers, notes, etc, but It seems impossible to parse into any format for reimporting or moving to my Pre. Are there any other tricks to opening the user data or recovering its contents. Any debug tools or software interrupts or anything I can do? Is there a way to open this stuff in a properly parsed format? Can User Data files be opened or imported by any other app? Also the Treo 700p gets power and the red light stays on but it never boots, perhaps there is a forensic tool that can recover the data?
    Thank You for all your help and I would greatly appreciate any resolution.

    What BDAqua said. Get those crummy fonts you added off the drive. At least one of them must be so bad that's it's corrupting RAM every time the system tries to load it.
    A Safe Mode boot removes the user cache files of the account you log into in Safe Mode, and clears Font Book's database. Normally, that would allow you to restart normally since Font Book's database is not rebuilt until you launch Font Book. That you can't even get that far means you have some really BAD fonts.
    Boot into Safe Mode again. Make a new folder on the desktop and move all of the fonts you added out of the /Library/Fonts/ folded, or the Fonts folder of your user account. Whichever one you put them in.
    Now you should be able to startup normally.

  • Corrupted iPad data? -inaccessible or salvageable?

    I connected iPad 2 first time to iTunes in over 2 years. Wanted to update ios from ios 4 to 6. The hdd was pretty full and I was able to copy pictures and videos to folder on laptop. Deleted cameraroll from ipad and Then I made an encrypted backup. Then I reset and wiped data. Immediately plugged back in, to laptop, then updated to iOS 6. Then connected to laptop again and selected "restore from backup" and entered encryption key.
    After three seconds message pops up: iTunes could not restore the iPad "apple's iPad" because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with t...
    After trying hundreds of times, including disabling the antivirus for a few minutes still same message every time.
    I remember when i made backup took less than aminute and i was kinda surprised but ther were no error alerts or popups and it said backup complete. i Researched backup folder location and the backup has 525 files and is 258 MB, which is about same as my iPhone backup.
    This means backup is not empty, but is it really corrupted or some compatibility error or did I really lose two years of notes, documents, voice recordings and tax records and PDFs?
    If anyone is willing to save me from this catastrophic nightmare they have my gratitude and appreciation for your help

    This problem often occurs to my iPhone when I listen musics. usually, I turn off my phone and reboot it and it will be okay. This works for me. you can try it too.
    Of course, you can try to reset all settings on your iPad or restore it to factory settings.
    you can go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset All settings to clear up your settings on iPad and see it is helpful.
    If not, Go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings. This will reset your iPad to factory settings. Please note that you need to backup your iPad before doing this.
    Hope it is helpful.

  • Batch date change corrupts the dates

    I need some help with the batch name change in iPhoto. I recently tried to change some dates of an entire event to 12/25/2008. Once the batch change was done, the dates all appear as a corrupted year of 12/09/-2007 with the line in them. They then disappear completely from the event and can only be found on the photo section.
    I have tried the adjust date and time and I have tried rebuilding the library and transferring photos to new libraries, but get the same error.
    thanks,

    Close iPhoto, delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and see if that helps.
    Happy New Year
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
    Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • IPhoto '08 corrupts EXIF data on export

    Hello All,
    In using iPhoto '08 (including the latest update to 7.1) I am noticing the when I export files the EXIF data is getting corrupted.
    My original files are fine--all EXIF data shows up properly, and galleries which I post to that are capable of displaying EXIF data display it just fine. However, when I export a file from iPhoto to JPG format, the galleries are unable to display the EXIF data. Using the Firefox extension, 'EXIF Viwer' ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3905 ), I see there are errors in the data (screenshot here: http://jaaulde.com/exif_viewer.png )
    Thanks for any help you can provide.
    Jim

    Jim:
    It may be the server side software that's causing the problems. Another thread went thru something like this extensively and we found that files from some cameras, Canons for one, are not read properly by the software. We've downloaded the files and read the EXIF data and it was all there. I have a gallery of files from various cameras as an example: http://gallery.mac.com/toad.hall/100196. Click on the "i" button in the slideshow and you'll see those that get the EXIF data correct, primarily the shutter speed, and those that do not. I don't remember the thread but you can search this forum for "EXIF web gallery" or similar.
    Do you Twango?

  • Corrupt databook.dat without palm OS

    Dear,
    I used to have a Palm III , but when it broke down, I continued to use the agena (databook) since I find it easy to use.
    My last .bak file is of 2001, so I assume then my palm device died.
    However, now the database file (databook.dat) crashed. The file is 1748KB big (and my last backup is 1 year old).
    In order to use my palm agenda, I have always installed the software on my new pc. It did complain ofcourse, since I did not have anymore a real device attached, but at least I could start up the pam exe and read my agenda. This worked fine for years and years... till now.
    Since I do not have the palm OS running, I assume I can not use the normal procedure ( installing and running the dbfixit.prc file).
    My pc does even not recognise the prc extention.
    Is there another way to recover my data ?  Is there a standalone program which I can run on my corrupt database file ?
    Can I try to fix something by a bin editor ?
    Thanks for your help,
    Roger
    Post relates to: Palm III

    Since you do not sync your device, if the data is corrupt in the .dat file there is really no way to recover the data by renaming the .bak file. You may want to try a system restore on Windows to a day in which the data was there.
    If you can recover your system to the day the data was in Palm Desktop, you can then export your data for backup purposes.
    The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each category in Palm Desktop to a seperate folder on your PC.
    Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that is convenient. Name it something like Palm Desktop Data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on that page for the export procedure.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=28734
    Make sure you select all for the range in the export window.
    With the data saved in the folder you created, make a copy of that folder and save to a flash drive, cd-rw or external hard drive.
    Anytime you make a change in Palm Desktop, export the data that was changed to that folder and save again to the external media.
    With this process you can always import the data back into Palm Desktop anytime you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop or if your computer/hard drive/device crashes.
