Corruption of downloaded ISO images

Dear All,
I've tried a number of times to download Oracle 10g, Enterprise Linux and the files are always corrupted. I've looked on the Internet and seen that others are experiencing the same problems. Downloads from other sites work fine, including downloading very large files.
I'm using a Windows XP Pro PC sitting behind a NetGear WNR854T Switch that is hooked up to my cable modem. I've tried the downloads with Internet Explorer 6 and with FireFox 2. I use WinRAR to expand them.
This is getting very frustrating and my question is:
Does anybody know a way to download the files without them getting corrupted, or
does anybody know of another way to get these files.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.
Regards,
Carl.

I'm using IE and Firefox behind a netgear too and it's fine. I had long conversations with edelivery over this and they were all resolved.

to install windows you need to buy windows
there are many programs for making windows if on a disc into an iso
if you do not have an optical drive and windows on a disc then you likely have to use another computer to make it into an iso

  • How does one Create Bootable DVD from downloaded iso image in Windows?

I have a completely empty system I want to load Solaris Express on. I have access to web on a Windows XP machine and have downloaded the Solaris iso image. Using WindowsXP facilities simply copies the iso image as an intact iso image file and resulting disc is not bootable. Windows knowledge base very conveniently says that what happened to me is what happens. No obvious referral to how to do it....
    A) So for a non-Windows savy person who does not want to become Windows savy (That is why I downloaded Solaris!) Where is a set of instructions on how to (inside Windows XP) "extract" an iso image to a CD / DVD disk so it will be bootable?
    B) It sure would be nice if Solaris were able to be loaded onto a USB Flash drive and booted at will from any USB computer. Just plug it in and boot. Has this been done?
    C) Getting a physical disk by snail mail from Sun is very slow for me.... (3 weeks and still watching the mail box...)

You probably copied the .iso file as one single very large file onto media. Instead, you can use a utility such as Roxio DVD Creator or Nero (or freeware like cdrecord) , and select the option to burn an image that already exists. No special boot options are needed, because the ISO image already contains the boot information needed.

Has this been done? With the Newboot project introduced into Solaris Express, I believe it is now possible. I'm not a USB expert, though, so cannot say for sure.

  • Creating CD's from downloaded ISO images

    Hi
I've downloaded the 3 ISO images for Solaris 8 2/04 (for sparc). I've unzipped the install file & tried to burn it using Nero6. Only 146KB is used on the CD..Can some-1 tell me what I'm doing wrong?

If you are referring to the first installation-CD, this is just actually
equivalent to boot-floopy disk to boot the PC and configure it.
The succeeding CDs contain the actual OS installation and they
should be euqivalent to the size of a 700MB cdrom more or less.

  • ISO Image Problem

I purchased a legit copy of XP SP2 from my university and it came as a downloaded ISO image file. I then burned the contents of this file to a cd in hopes to use bootcamp, but when i get to the point where it wants me to put in the install cd, it does not recognize my windows cd. i'm not sure what to do? anoyone else having this problem?

Using that process won't burn the ISO image correctly, all you are doing is making a copy of the ISO image, not actually burning the image itself.
Try using Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
You should be able to get Disk Utility to correctly burn the image.
Otherwise you are going to need to get some disk burning software (or ask a friend to burn the image for you).

Hi, I just purchased a 15 inch Macbook Pro with retina display and I wanted to run both Windows 8 and Mac OS X on it. I wanted to do this through Boot Camp Assistant. I purchased Windows 8 from the microsoft store, but it will only download as a .exe file which my computer tells me cannot run on Mac OS X. Any tips on getting it to download as an ISO image? Or any alternative ways to do this? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Download Solaris 9 ISO image

    hi,
Does somebody know where I can download Solaris 9 ISO images?
    BR
    Marcel

Solaris 9 is no longer available as a free download.
Older releases of Solaris 10 are no longer available as free downloads, either.
If you want it directly from the company, your only recourse is if you happen to have any support contract credentials with Oracle. You could then log a Support Request (S.R.) that asks for the company to send you the software on CD media. They would pull it out from their internal archives and eventually get it to you.
I can think of another alternative, but it's not a free alternative:
You can haunt your favorite online auction web site (for example, eBay) and purchase a full original media kit of CD's and manuals. As I type this, there are a few such kits avaiable at eBay, various Sol9 releases, both for SPARC and for x86.

Really? This script is to download the iso, right? so, maybe I'm wrong, but I think downloading the iso and install it to an usb has nothing to do.
Or are you going to create another script to do that?
    Anyway, about the downloading script.
What if it parsed the download page, to get all links listed there? With something like:
    curl -s 'https://www.archlinux.org/download/' |sed -n '/id="download-mirrors"/,/\/div/ {/href/ s/.*href="\([^"]*\).*/\1/p; /h5/ s/.*<h5.*> \([^<]*\).*/\1/p}'
You could get the list of links.
    Also, check this: http://grulos.blogspot.mx/2007/10/find- … irror.html
Is an script to find the fastest mirror from a list of urls.
To be really useful the script, it would be better if it autoselected the fastest mirror for you, instead of waiting for you to tell it which mirror to use.
    So, what you think?

  • Is there a way to download Yosemite ISO image?

I already have 10.10.2 installed and running on my MacBook Pro (2008 4,1).  However, I would like to reinstall/refresh Yosemite (--but not a 'clean' reinstall that wipes everything). Whether from the App Store or the Recovery Partition, the reinstall/refresh process never completes, even leaving computer alone for 24+ hours. Is there a way to download a Yosemite ISO image? (My disk and permissions are okay, and there are no diagnostic problems.  It's just that I have installed/uninstalled so much other stuff that, at this point, I would like to refresh all system files/apps.)

You can make a bootable USB stick to install using this free program. It does all the work for you.

  • Can you provide 9i & 9iAS iso image files for download next time?

    I've download 9i & 9iAS for Linux,
and I've burned them into CDs.
When I tried to install 9i from mounted CD, it failed,
I've tried several times(waste lots of CDs), but none of them working.
There's nothing I can do about it except install it from extracted files.
can you Oracle guys provide an iso images for public download?
since people can create CDs or simply install them from a mounted iso image on Linux if they don't like.
    Thanks

    Hi mcg-
You would shift click each file to select them

  • How about putting out ISO images for various downloads

I posted this suggestion before, a year ago, I think. no change. so here it goes again:
It'd be much better to put out ISO images instead of.cpio.gz or .tar.gz file, as
many people I know had to extract the content from the archive, then generate cd images.
There are great free ('mkisofs') and commercial tools to generate iso images.
One may argue that it'd be hard for people don't have cd-rom/cd-rw. Under linux, this is not an issue. iso image can easily be mounted on a loop device and read from.

Hi Nick, I do see information on creating a slideshow with Quicktime at: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/slideshow.html
however it appears Quicktime X removed that capability. There is no 'open image sequence' option from the File menu in Quicktime X.
If I do end up sticking with Final Cut - would you recommend any codec and/or dimension size that would result in the best quality or the most crisp image? I also need a few fade in's and out's on various parts - I don't believe I would have the control without Final Cut.
Would resizing the image files in Photoshop to 1920 pixels by 1280 before importing them into Final Cut result in crisper images? Thanks.

  • Is anyone else having problems with large files, such as installation images, becoming corrupted when downloaded in Mavericks using Safari?

I am finding that when I try to download a disk image file, such as Office 2011, it reads invalid checksum, is corrputed and will not install. I tried to download it several times and even unchecked in the Disk Utility Preference Pane to verify checksums. The way I solved the problem, was to go to my Windows Machine and download the image, put it on a USB flash drive and install it on my Mac from the stick. Not a proper solution, but it did work. Has anyone out there had this problem? This is applying to any large .dmg files not just Office 2011.

I'm having exactly the same problem with the dmg file for Office 2011, tried downloading from my windows machine with no luck, still having the invalid checksum message.

  • Windows 8.1, BootCamp does not find the ISO image.

When I try to install Windows 8.1, BootCamp does not find the ISO image.
I purchased Windows 8.1 Pro, I downloaded the .exe requested file from a Windows computer, performed the steps recommended by Microsoft in order to create the ISO file saving it on a flash drive as well and, as a precaution, on a DVD too.
I performed the "Download the latest Windows Support Software from Apple" step directly into another flash drive and having it completed BootCamp displays the following message:
"The installer disc could not be found  –  Insert the Windows installer disc and wait a few seconds for the disc to be recognized. "
So happens that I have tried this using the DVD, pendrive and also copying the ISO file to the desktop and to the "Documents" folder as recommended in certain websites, but none of this has made the process go ahead. What can I do?
My equipment is a mid 2011 iMac running Mac OSX 10.10.1.

    Dear Loner T,
thanks to my coworker, the solution was unpacking from that ISO file which I had recorded (according to the steps indicated by Microsoft), but now using Nero software (Windows) and then recording by the most common way in a new DVD. See the screen of the first DVD before unpacking:
This true saga only demonstrated that the generated ISO file as an option at the time of the Windows installation, is not for direct installation through BootCamp, and as a I could check, even for direct installation on a Windows PC. See the last DVD burned using Nero and  again recorded:
The execution of BootCamp, was perfect
Thank you for attention to my problem!
