Corruption of MSWord documents after installation of Mac OS 10.6.3
I have just upgraded my iMac G5 to OS 10.6.3. All pre-upgrade software and files seem to be OK, with one glaring exception -- documents in MSWord for Mac. Every Word document that I try to open produces only an invitation to try iWork '06, a window with several buttons, none of which I've tried excepting the Close button. Not only is this true for my the MSWord documents on my hard disk, but also those stored in my Time Machine files, which means none of the MSWord documents can be restored from the Time Machine, although I do have old CDs with back-up files that contain many of the MSWord files that I have not opened and revised in recent months. I would be grateful for any guidance re how I could restore these files within the confines of my hard disk, as it now stands, and the MSWord files in the Time Machine files.
The other problem encountered is that I seem to have lost the authority to change file names. I tried to rename a couple of Excel files, but got a message telling me that I did not have the authority to do so. Any advice or pointers on that would also be appreciated.

Had an older version of VirtualBox and Win7 installed which was doing perfectly fine. Had to reinstall Win7 and upgraded VirtualBox at the same time.
Now my machine doesn't cope at all when running Win7 as a guest...
Restoring a saved Win7 state takes about 4minutes and once restored CPU is maxed out and Win7 is unusably slow.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

You bring back iLife in one of two ways:
1. Open the App Store, click on "Purchases". If you find GarageBand, iMovie and iPhoto there, you can click "Download". I think you tried to say above they are not there, but I'm just making sure.
2. Use your iLife '09 CD to reload the applications, then do a "Software Update". -

Lightroom CC wont startup after installation on mac
lightroom CC wont startup after installation on both my mac's, it only hows a splash screen at startup.
I have tried to restart the computer
Anybody know what to do ?I'm having the same issue and the log out and back in trick is not working for me.
I've just installed and when I try and launch the application, i see the splash screen for a split second and then the application crashes.
It is happening on both of my Retina MacBook Pros.
One is: Late 2013 Retina 15" MBP - 2.6 i7 - 16GB RAM - 1TB SSD - NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2GB
The other is Early 2013 Retina 15" MBP - 2.7 i7 - 16GB RAM - 256 SSD - NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1GB

I've uninstalled and reinstalled. I've trashed pref files. Not sure what else to do. -

Flash Player doesn't work consistently after installation on Mac
Hello,
I'm using a Macbook Air with OS X Yosemite and the Player appears to not work. More specifically it looks like the video is going to load but it either crashes while loading or just doesn't load at all. I've tried changing the settings to the recommended and doing a clean uninstall and reinstall. I've also used both Google Chrome and Safari but I still get similar results. Very infrequently the player will work after refreshing the page upwards of 10 times but as you can imagine this is problematic when wanting to watch something live. Also I have Flash Player 16 installed which is the most up to date I can have on my system. I've also tried to clear the cache of both, Chrome and the Macromedia and Adobe files on my Mac but still have failure. It can't be the websites I'm trying to access because friends have accessed the same sites without any problems while using the same browser. This is most problematic because the thing I most want to use Flash Player for are subscription base therefore I feel like at this moment I'm wasting my money.

Please give us some details on the specific OS version and model that you're using. We'll try and find a comparable machine to reproduce it with. You can find the details under Apple > About This Mac > More Info > System Report. Also, direct links to one or more videos that reproduce this problem consistently would be very helpful.
In the meantime, does disabling hardware acceleration help? There's a section in the video troubleshooting guide below that covers it.

I recently installed MySQL on my Mac Pro and seem to be having difficulty understanding how it works. Also, I am a beginner in MySQL. I have tried loads of websites to figure out how I needed to start using it, sadly none helped. Like for starters changing the root password or the first thing I should do after installing the package. You could say I have absolutely no idea and don't want to copy paste commands at random in the terminal and mess things up.
It would be great if you could help me understand this better.

Windows 7 will not boot after installation on mac pro
I have a mac pro 2006, and wish to install windows7 on another internal drive, when I follow bootcamp to the point where it says load installation disc for windows 7, it tries to load, but then I get an empty folder with a question mark in it. So then I tried an install on just an internal hard drive not using bootcamp, this time it seems to do a full installation, but when it tries to restart I get a mac symbol, with a no entry sign, any help please.
I can boot in windows safe mode, but, I cannot restart or finish the installation,

Execute permission for everyone missing after installation on Mac OS

I installed JDeveloper on Mac OSx and recognized, that execute permission was missing for everyone on some directories under the middleware directory and on the JDeveloper executable in the application package: JDeveloper.app/Contents/MacOS/JDeveloper. So I could start JDeveloper only as administrator but not as normal user. Perhaps you could add this to the additional steps required for a Mac OS installation in the release notes.

I've seen about a hundred people post in the Apple Forums this week that they did the EXACT same thing: deleted the Mach Kernel file, and it screwed up their entire OS. Apple f'ed up their 10.8.5 update to allow it to be visible, but that doesn't place ANY burden on anyone here.
Kinda reminds me of my earliest days at AOL when people would call in because they deleted "rundll32" from their Windows 98 and then couldn't reboot.

Unable to open words document after the latest mac office update
I hv just updated my Office for Mac after being prompted to do so. however, we was not able to open my words doc after that.
It's possible you've reset the crop option during the placement of another PDF or .ai file and it's set to somethign that doesn't exist in the PDF you are trying to place (Bleed box, or Trim Box are likely candidates). Try showing the options when you place the file and check the crop options. It should be sticky for both PDF and .ai until changed again.

every time Mac has released a major update like this, we have seen trouble. This trouble is seen when the OS is directly updated, over the top of the existing OS, as opposed to be being a fresh install on a clean system. These updates tend to break existing files by mangling permissions. Generally, if CC continues to not work, then the next most common solution in these situations is to uninstall and reinstall the product. -
Problem with Adobe Acrobat Pro XI after installation on Mac
I just installed Adobe Acrobat Pro XI on my Mac. My Mac has the correct version of OS and Safari yet I can not launch Adobe. When I launch it, an error box comes up and says a problem has been reported to Adobe. That's as far as it gets. Has anyone had this problem before?

Delete all the files from following folders:
Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore
Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLCache
And, delete all files from following folder except cache.db
Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PCD
Launch Acrobat and enter the serial number when prompted and check.

You need to update to Pages 4.1. If you haven't moved or renamed Pages then you'll be able to update Pages by running Software Update on your Mac. Or if you purchased Pages from the Mac App Store then you can launch the Store and click on Updates.

Photoshop CS6 running slow after installation of Mac OS 10

I'm new to this forum and I hope that someone can help me with this. Photoshop, Bridge and Lightroom worked just as they should until I stupidly decided to upgrade from Mountain Lion to Yosemite. Since then Photoshop CS6 is running terribly slow, not while opening files but while editing them. Shortcuts are not being accepted, I have to klick on the tool I want to use, not even cmd+z works reliable. Some tools like the spot healing brush are working absurd slow. It taks me about five times longer to edit.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
