Cost Breakdown Report Runs too Longs

Hi All
When I run Costing Reports its takes about 6-7 hours , last month the reports was working fine without any problem takes 3-5 min at most .
I check pay_action_parameters and everything is fine , Reports Not Customized its by oracle .
Note : i Already open SR with Oracle , but Want to see if some one have the same problem

But the Same , Actually i start thinking its bug i faced this issue on another customer site but On Gl schema with posting Reports After investigation i discover its Oracle Bug on Indexes And I applied patch for this issue now its solved .

OCDM - Sample Report Installation issue - Runs too longer with No progress

Hello,
As a part of OCDM environment setup for Practice we were successful installing following :
* Supported Enterprise Linux
* Oracle DB 11g R2 (OLAP & MINING option)
* OWB was already installed as a part of Oracle DB 11gR2 - just unlocked the OWB accounts.
* Installed OBIEE 11g R2 installation - Installation successful and able to open url's. (analytics and BI Publisher etc.) - Issue with login account.
* Installation of Communication Data Model (First Installation type from OCDM Installer)
When we try to install Sample Reports at same stage the screen remain open and runs too longer with No progress.
The Installation process for OCDM Sample Reports is given in the attached doc with screenshot and the log file is also included in the attached document.
Please let us know the following two issue:
1) How to login to Analytics after OBIEE 11gR2 installed on Linux - ( in our case we use user as Administrator and tried password same as username, even checked with the user weblogic and other but no success. Please provide us the information which give details(document) about the Administartion of OBIEE 11gR2 on Linux).
2) The issue with installation of OCDM Sampple Reports though successful installation of OCDM Data Model.(First Installation Type from OCDM Installer)

The current OCDM version does not support BIEE 11g, so you need to install BIEE 10g. In next release(will be available soon), OCDM will support BIEE 11g.
2) The issue with installation of OCDM Sampple Reports though successful installation of OCDM Data Model.(First Installation Type from OCDM Installer)
The importing will take a long time, you can login database with ocdm_sample_sys/ocdm_sample_sys, and use "select count(*) from tabs;" to monitor the import process.

BBP_GET_STATUS_2 running too long

Hi Venga,
maybe the note 1115597 could help as well. Depending on your release there are BBP_GET_STATUS_2 notes also notes for the backend system:

If they don't help, the issue should be analysed by performance trace.

Scripts run too long. Can I set limit?

On some websites I get the firefox msg that a script is running too long and do I want to stop it. I would like to shorten the time it take to give me that message.

Drill Through reports takes too long

Hi all,
I need some suggestions/help with our drill through reports. We are using Hyperion 11.1.1.3 and the cube is ASO.
We have drill through reports set up in Essbase studio for drilling down from Essbase to Oracle database. It takes too long (like 30 mins for fetching 1000 records) and the query is simple.
What are the changes that we can do to bring down this time. Please advice.

We tried optimizing the drill through SQL query but actually when we run the directly in TOAD it takes *23 secs* but when we do drill through on the same intersection
it took more than 25 mins. Following is our query structure :

The first step is to see if the problem lies in the query on the data source or in webi itself. Depending on the data source there are different ways to extract the query and try to run it against the database. Which source does your report uses?
(2). Can you tell me about performance tuning in BO ?
I would recommend to start by reading the administrator's guide. There is a section about how to improve performance.

Spam report thread too long by now?

The present Spam report thread [4] was initiated over a year ago when the old thread was 190 messages long, because "...the previous thread ... has served its purpose but is getting too long to be read comfortably on mobile devices". Well, the present thread has well exceeded that mark, as it was 422 messages long at the time I started to write this message.
Wouldn't it be time to let the present thread rest in peace by the same argument that led to the closing of the previous one? Not that I use mobile devices to visit these forums, but...

The idea of closing Spam threads when they get too long and replace them by brand new ones is not mine. As I said in my opening message here, it was the official argument for closing the [3] Spam thread when it was 190 messages long. Well, the [4] Spam thread got 422 messages long and there was no official reaction, so I opened this thread to find if this was just an oversight.
A few days later, the [4] Spam thread was archived (and therefore closed) for reasons that were never explained, and a replacement one was no opened, so I tentatively opened a new one, the present [5] version, explaining my reasons for doing so:

Now the [5] Spam thread is 476 messages long (at the time of writing this), and it has not been closed, archived or replaced, so I don't think any participant should open a replacement one. This should be done officially by someone with the power to close the present version.
On the other hand, if the reason given for closing the [3] version is no longer valid, and the length of Spam threads has no importance whatsoever, I think this should be clearly stated. As I access the forums through browsers, the length of the threads does not affect me in the least, and I have no idea if it affects participants accessing the forums by other means.

Can the fan break from running too long?

Yesterday I had a high-energy application running on my 13'' MacBook Pro Retina for a good five hours straight. I've used this application a couple times, but never for this long; the fan always runs with this application. Needless to say, the fan was running pretty loud for a while and the MacBook got pretty hot. Today, I launched the same application and the fan is noticeably a lot quieter. Also, the application seems to run a bit slower with some hiccups, wheras before it had run seamlessly. Is it possible I somehow damaged the fan by running the application too long?

It's possible for a fan to burnout. Apple store can replace, not too epensive, you may be able to find online if you do not have isues pulling the MBP apart. How to vids online as well.

Crash report runs a long time after startup

Crash report runs for about 1-1/2 hour after startup.

did you check how much time the entire report takes to execute (evn though the first 25 rows comes up quickly). I suspect it is > 30 mins.
OBIEE is not meant as a data dump tool and there is little that could be done. (except better hardware)

Going to the LastPage of a report takes too long

Hi,Using Web ReportViewer. Pressing the LastPage button in the browser's window takes LONG time before the last page appears (and almost 100% CPU), as the CR control apparently generates the complete document internally, before showing its last page. For a few hundreds pages long report the time can easily be 20+ minutes.No SubReports, no fancy formulas etc. IIS running on a powerful machine with plenty of grant. Single application, single user.Can anybody suggest a way to optimise/change the behaviour?Much appreciated.

This is a known issue with Crystal. The more work that your report does the worse it is. The only way to move to the last page is for crystal to "virtually produce" every page.
Some things that you can to to speed this up.
1. Do not have "Page n of x" as this slows down the production of the first page.
2. Many reports will suppress the detail line only showing the Group totals this increases the number of records that Crystal has to work with. If I am just showing summary values I use a stored proceedure to do the aggregation.
3.Use a stored proceedure to do all of the formula work and use Crystal only to paint the data. I often play the game of how few formulas I can have in the report. I look at each formula and see if that work can be done in the stored procedure.
4. If the user is just viewing a pre run report as opposed to having the user specificly run the report have the report exported to .pdf and just post the PDF. By the way with R2 (But not if not R2). You can export the group tree to the PDF.
5. One last thing pagination likes memory I have 2gb on my machine (a workstation) if you are running on a server make sure that memory is available to Crystal.

Report takes too long to display

I am using Crystal XI, Vsual Studio 2003, SQL Server 2000 and Windows Server 2003. I create a report in Crystal and then add it to my Visual Studio 2003 project. Then using the CrystalReportViewer in Visual Studio 2003 I create a webpage then stick in the CrystalReportViewer on the page then add all the properties and other code in the code behind page. Like a close button on the page so when the user clicks on the close button the crystal report page closes and goes back to the home page.
When I run the report from my developement machine the report displays in less than 5 seconds and when the close button is clicked the crystal reports page closer in less than 2 seconds and returns to the home page.
But after I deploy by web app to the server and try to run a report it ALWAYS takes longer than 40 seconds to display and even longer to close. This is driving my customers crazy.
What am I missing??????

Is it possible the java memory is not high enough on the service (assuming Windows). Try to Set the JVMOption to -Xmx1024m (default is 512m) on the "HyS9WebAnalysis" registry entry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hyperion Solutions\WebAnalysis

SQL Query based BI Pub report - Taking too long to produce the output

Hi All,
I was trying to produce a BI Publisher based report through enterprise edition of BI Publisher 10.1.3.4
Its a sql query based report and it has around 20 columns and it has around 1 lakh records.
The query actually takes only 2 seconds to execute in the database but when we execute from BI Publisher it takes a long time and also it times out most of the time
Is there something I am missing in the configuration options ?

I am facing the same problem as well. I am using the Publisher Web service API to run a report with 1 Million records. This report is configured to use OBIEE. It takes a lot of time to generate the report ( around 30 Mins) and even though OBIEE generates the data, my web service client either timesout. Even after increasing the timeout, a 500 internal server error is thrown . Does anyone know of a solution to this.
