Cost Center Inheritance

Is there a option to de-activate the Inheritance functionality of the Cost Centers in OM.
I have already de-activated the Account assignment switch.Still the Cost Center that is assigned to the reporting Org Unit is being inherited by the subordinate Org Units/Positions.I want this inheritance to be stopped.
Is there a specific switch that controls the cost center inheritance?

  • Cost Center Inheritance from Org Unit

    Good day all,
Can someone please advise regarding cost center inheritance from org units?
I understand the inheritance concept, however simple need to know if the CCenter is added to the org unit via A011 relationship, does the system physically create a A011 relationship on the position inhertiting the cost center from the org or does the system simply pick up the realtionship from the org unit relationsip for use in IT0001 field KOSTL (cost center)?
Thanks guys, have a lovely day!
    Christy

    Hi Christy,
As we know cost centre(K) is an unusual object in OM.Two type of objects internal  whose master record are in database table beloging to sap erp hcm and eexternal object whose master data belong to other application areas.Cost centre is an external object that is used to represent origin of costs.Inheritance concept is on the basis of whoch cost centre are assigned in org plan.
directly related cost centre is called master cost centre and they are made via A011 cost centre assignment relationsip.they can be made at org unit, position or work centre and nornmally its org unit that common.Org unit at the top are asisgned the cost centre as a best practise so that all the org units below or reporting will inherit the same.
Similarly multiple cost centre assignments can also e made through 1018 infotype(cost centre distribution).Inheritance also applied to them aswell.
    Hope this helps.

  • Org Unit inheritance link to Parent Cost Center - is this Config?

    Hi
We started at a new client and have difficulty maintaining the Org Structure A 011 relationships to child Org Units. The system undoes our implicit links. We want the implicit links to be there and not inherited. Is it possible to switch off the inheritance in config?
    Please assist/advise.
    Thank you, Adrian

what do you mean when you say the system 'undoes' your implicit links? Did you mean the system undoes the inherited cc value by using the explicit cc-assignment done at an org unit level? if yes that is how sap works,...  the options are
    a. do not do explicit creation of cost center to org unit . that way assigning a cost center at the top org unit will suffice as that will be inherited to all org units down the structure. But this is not a workable business scenario at all.
    b. determine the explicit cost center assignments at each org unit level and do the assignment accordingly.
lastly : I dont think inheritence of cost center is something you can deactivate in img.

  • THR10 - Cost Center Assignment on Job

    Hi,
I am going through THR - 10 manual these days. I've a query that really amazed me therefore I am putting this question if any of you have satisfactory answer. On page no. 292 of THR-10 (The Human Resources Administration) manual, there is written the following sentence.
    • To depict your enterprise's Cost Center hierarchy in the system, you link the cost centers to the relevant organizational units. You can also link the cost centers to jobs and positions.
As per my knowledge, we can only assign cost centers to organization units, positions, and some other objects too but cannot assign cost center to JOB.
I will be very gratefull if any of you "SAP GURU" can guide me through.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Thanks for your replies Experts :).
I've gone through certain customization in order check if there might be any possibility, if a job can be assigned a cost center and if that job is assigend to any position from which you have'nt assigned any cost center through account assignment tab. I created additional relationship for object type C (Job) with K (Cost Center) and defining Time Constraint 2. After doing this, I assigned a cost center to job using newly created relationship, and assigned that job to the position with no center assigned. Finally i assigned an employee with that position to check if IT0001 inherits the cost center from the position which was inter related with that job with assigned cost center, but it did not worked.
So i think it's just a mistake SAP AG has made.
Anyways thank you all for your replies

  • Ad-Hoc Query for OU's and their Cost Center

Cost Centers are often inherited from parent OU's. If I try to make an Ad-Hoc query, select some OU's and show the Cost Centers via the relationship A11, the fields are empty unless the Cost Center is hardcoded for the OU.
Is there a way to create an Ad-Hoc query that shows the Cost Centers even if they are inherited? I can't make any changes to system tables or other customizing.
    Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately I'm not authorized to use SE16.
    This is my selection:
    Object ID: xxx (Selection)
    Object Type: O (Selection)
    Plan Version: 01 (Selection)
    Relationship Between Objects: 011 (IT1001)
    Relationship Specification: A (IT1001)
Type of Related Object: K (IT1001)
    Output:
    Object ID (IT1000)
    Object Abbreviation (IT1000)
    Object Name (IT1000)
    ID of Related Object (IT1001)
    Any other way?

  • Cost center behind an org. unit

    Hi,
how can I get the cost center assigned to an org. unit ??  I am not talking about relationship A011; this works only if the relationship is available in the object´s master data. The problem is when the cost center is inherited from the org. unit above or from the one above this one or from .....
Another problem is when the position is vacant; I cannot read IT 0001 for the employee.
Is there any function or BAPI for that ??
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
thanks both but it does not help. I´ll try to explain it other way. You create in CO a cost center and you create an org. unit in HR. You can then assign 1 or more org. units to the cost center. I am looking for that union. Relationship A011 is not much of a help.
In the org. structure, a lower-level org. unit inherits the cost center from the father or grandfather org. unit, if we did not assign it to a cost center.
I don´t want to read the higher-level org. unit for finding A011 or one level higher if A011 is not available or another higher level.

  • Cost center and Org unit relationship.

    Hi Guys,
I need quick help from any one of you.
Actually our org stucture is like Root-> company->plants-> costcenters( deparments)- users.
so we create org unit in the structure with some 100001 and assign users for that cost center  org unit , so by doing this costcenter attribute =100001will be inherited from the cost center org unit to all the users under that org unit.
but now there is a requirement for creation 1500 users and we have many such costcenter org units in the structure.
The business will provide the cost center I need to identify the org unit for that cost center in the structure then only I can assign a set of users for that 100001 costcenter. But to do that I have lots of such cost center org units.
So if there is a any table or report available in the system where I can get the details of the description ( meaning Basic data descrition)  which we enter while the while creating the org unit and the  Org unit number which gets generated when we save.
I would like to search for that relation .Please help me with this information.

  • Cost center relationship with department

    Hi experts,
I have one question to ask about cost center relationship.Let say one department use only one cost-center. Is it I have to key-in the relationship between department and cost-center only or I have to key -in all the position in that department with the cost-center.If I don't keyin the relationship between position and cost center, how about the report. It will automatically appear or not.

    HI MJ,
Please assign the Org Unit to a Cost Center using A011 Relationship through IT1001.
Secondly, the principle of Inheritance works here.....i.e.
IF you have assigned a O-K relationship at the Org Unit Level, all the reporting Org Units & Positions will inherit the Same Parent Cost Center........except in cases where the O-K / S-K Relationship is changed for any other org Units...or Positions... in such cases, the reporting org units or positions will inherit that.....
Cost center assignments are inherited along the organizational structure.
    Hope it is clear...
    Good Luck !!!!

  • PPOME Cost Center Assignment

    Hi Experts,
We face the following prblem when trying to assign a Cost Center to an Organizational Unit. The Scenario is the following:
    Org Unit A - Cost Center A
is line supervisor of Orgunit B - Cost Center B
is line supervisor of Orgunit C - Cost Center B (the problem occurs when trying to assign Cost Center B which is different from the inherited cost center of Org Unit A and the same as the Org Unit B. In this case the assignment of Org Unit B to Cost Center B is deleted! )
I searched for a note but found nothing relevant.
    Please advice.
    Evaggelia

    Hi Evaggelia
I think the relationship between O to K (Org Unit to Cost Center) is one-seided, means Unilateral Reporting Structure.
You need to use A011 while assigning the Relationship between them either from top to bottom, or bottom to top.

  • Org. Structure:  Position Cost Center Report

    Hi,
I need to produce a report from the org. structure which shows which positions has a certain cost center.  So, I would need to enter the cost center on the report selection-screen and then I would get a list of positions as output.  Anyone know of a report or function in which accomplish this?  *** Note that some of our cost centers are inherited from org. units.
    Thanks.

  • Cost center & cost element

    Hi Experts,
    Can anybody please tell me,
What is difference between cost center and cost element.
what is exact role of both.

    Hi,
    Cost Center
    Definition
External object (object type K) from Controlling which represents a clear origin of costs.
If you implement the Controlling component, you can find more information in SAP Library under Cost Center (Financials u2192 Controlling u2192 Cost Center Accounting u2192 Master Data in Cost Center Accounting (CO-OM-CCA) u2192 Cost Center)
    and
Cost Center Accounting (Financials u2192 Controlling u2192 Cost Element Accounting).
    Use
By assigning cost centers to organizational objects, you determine where costs incurred by the object are to be charged. The inheritance principle applies: If an organizational object is not assigned a cost center, the cost center assigned to the superior object applies.
An organizational object may also be assigned more than one cost center. For more information, see Cost Distribution (infotype 1018).
    Integration
A cost center can be related to the following organizational objects:
    ·        an organizational unit via relationship A 011 (Cost center assignment)
    ·        a position via relationship A 011 (Cost center assignment)
    ·        a work center via relationship A 011 (Cost center assignment)
    Cost Elements
    Definition
Cost elements classify an organizationu2019s valuated consumption of production factors within a controlling area. A cost element corresponds to a cost-relevant item in the chart of accounts.
    Structure
We distinguish between primary cost and revenue elements and secondary cost elements.
    Primary Cost/Revenue Elements
A primary cost or revenue element is a cost or revenue-relevant item in the chart of accounts, for which a corresponding general ledger (G/L) account exists in Financial Accounting (FI). You can only create the cost or revenue element if you have first defined it as a G/L account in the chart of accounts and created it as an account in Financial Accounting. The SAP System checks whether a corresponding account exists in Financial Accounting.
Examples of primary cost elements include:
    · Material costs
    · Personnel costs
    · Energy costs
    Secondary Cost Elements
Secondary cost elements can only be created and administrated in cost accounting (CO). They portray internal value flows, such as those found in internal activity allocation, overhead calculations and settlement transactions.
When you create a secondary cost element, the SAP System checks whether a corresponding account already exists in Financial Accounting. If one exists, you can not create the secondary cost element in cost accounting.
Examples of secondary cost elements include:
    · Assessment cost elements
    · Cost elements for Internal Activity Allocation
    · Cost elements for Order Settlement
    Integration
Cost elements in Controlling (CO) are closely related to the general ledger accounts used in Financial Accounting (FI). This is because the SAP System is structured as an Integrated Accounting System:
Cost elements document which costs (differentiated by category) are incurred within a settlement period, and in which amount. They provide information concerning the value flow and the value consumption within the organization. Cost Element Accounting and Cost Center Accounting/Internal Orders are closely linked in the SAP System. Each posting to an account that is also a cost element, is assigned either to a cost center or order. This ensures that at period-end the data is subdivided by cost elements and cost centers/internal orders for analysis purposes. The following section describes how you can subdivide and characterize cost elements in the SAP System.
Cost element characteristics depend on the controlling area and the allocation methods used in your organization.
Hope this helps clarifying your doubt about cost center & cost element.

    Tejas

  • FI-AA / CO - Impossible to input cost center in asset acquisition

    Hello everyone,
I have a question about asset acquisition postings (transaction ABSO).
In first item of the document (with posting key 70) i click on 'Additional account assignement' but fields 'Cost center' and 'Profit center' are both locked (no possible entries).
    I state that:
    AA
    1) Additional account object as KOSTL (Cost center) is active in AA customizing
    2) Account assignment object for dep. area 01 (trsx. ACSET) displays KOSTL for '*' all Asset transaction type
    GL
    1) In Account master data field status group provides Cost center as optional entry
    CO
    1) Cost center is active for the relating controlling area
    2) The acquisition account is correctly opened as statistical cost element
The same thing happens if i try to post with transaction AB01 instead of ABSO, but if I remove 'A - Asset' from transaction OAMK (Change control of reconciliation Accounts) i could input cost center in a generic FI posting.
How i could insert cost center code in transaction ABSO for the first item of the document ?
Why the transaciont did not inherit cost center from Asset master data ?
Some parameterization missed in CO customizing (or GL or AA) ?
    Thanks and bye

    Hi,
Please check the setup as follows:
    1.  Go to Financial Accounting -> Asset Accounting -> Integration with the general ledger -> Additional account assignment
objects -> Activate Account Assignment Objects.  Is the filed 'Agreement' is set as 'X' for object COST CENTER ? If this
indicator is checked, you are not able to enter cost center when posting acquisition, even via tcode F-90. This ensures the
consistency of the cost center value with that in asset master data.
However, the cost center will not be inherited from asset master data before you change message status, as described in
         next step.
    2. Go to OBA5. Enter Application Area 'KI', click Enter and then switch off message 098.
    Hope this helps...

  • Determine Organizational Unit cost center

    Dear all,
how do I determine an organizational unit cost center?
I know that if cost center it's not inherited I can find it in hrp1001, but how in the other case?
Is there a FM that can be used?
    Thanks in advance
    FLP

    Hi,
thanks for your reply, no, I can't read it from there.
This is HR stuff... In OM you define Organizational units, and you can specify a cost center for it (that a program can read in HRP1001) or it is inherited from the previous Organization unit (that will not create a recodr in HRP1001).
    Thanks

  • How to see relationships between a cost center and positions?

    Hello All,
I would like to see all positions attached to a cost center. Normally, I would just go to pp01 transaction, choose Obj. type 'K', enter the cost center number and displayed all relationships.
However, this cannot be done because cost centers are external objects for HR module.
Could anyone tell me how I can see CC - all positions relations?
    Best regards

Try HRP1001. If you don't already have it maintained, then PAR1 is your best bet. Typically, Positions are not assigned to cost centers directly. But with PAR1 you can pretty much see all position inheritance or assignments to cost centers. To narrow it down, use org structure search in PAR1 to restrict the report to your org unit only.
Good luck and lets know if this helps.
