Cost center on CAT2

Is there a way to default funds/cost center  in CAT2 screen? Our requirement is to control the way the cost/funds center appear in the CAT2 screen based on the position the employee holds. If the position is XYZ, then the cost/funds center should either default to the home cost center of the employee and the time admin should have the flexibility to charge a portion of the hours to a different WBS element/Cost/Funds center. Also, the WBS elements should be available as a drop down list in the CAT2 screen.

Thank you so much for your inputs. I did read about the infotype 315 for defaulting cost center. Since this would require manual creation/mass upload of cost center to each of the employees, it would be easier to have this defaulted directly from the CAT2 screen with a drop down list to chose from. I guess we have to look at user exits to achieve this (?)
Would you be able to give me some help on how to activate the cost center, WBS elements on the CAT2 screen? I have tried to do this in the CAC1 where I saw two check boxes for master  cost center and cost center. I didnt see any cost center fields in the cat2 screen after checking these boxes. Another question is, how do I get the WBS elements displayed as a drop down list. Please excuse me if I am repeating the questions that you think you have already answered. I am brand new to this.
What did you mean by planning? Did you mean OM? If it is OM, yes we do use it. How can we have the list displayed in this case? User exit?

    Hi,
    If the profile is to default the Receiver Cost Center, should it be the emploee's home CCtr. (from Infotype 0001) or an alternate CCtr. (Infotype 0315)?
    Transfer all data to HR and calculate Personnel costs using payroll.  Charge costs to the Sender object.  Then, trigger an Activity allocation between the Sender and the Receiver objects.

    i have to upload some data in tcode CAT2. There is Cost center that appears in header record of this employee (say 1000) in this transaction ( and say his KOSTL is D010000).
    But when i try to update any other cost center with an activity type, it gives me error message and does not allow me to save data.
    However, if the COST CENTER <b>CATEGORY</b> is same for all three (activity type, Cost center m tryin to upload and Cost center in header), it allows to save and upload the data.
    so my ques is :-
    is it necessary to have cost center category same for all the 3 fields or is there some conf. problem?
    plz help !!!!!!!

  • Error saying cost center/EAT007 validity exists only for 2009

    I am trying to upload the HR details from Non SAP to SAP for 2010, using an interface from T.code se38, I am getting an error saying 
    "Master record for cost center(number)/ EAT007 exists only for 2009".
    When I see the cost center validity in KS02, its validity is from 01.01.2009 to 12.31.9999.
    Could anybody answer this.

    I am trying to upload the time sheets of the employees from other software to SAP using the Tcode SE38,
    Later from HR to Co we are using CATs (Cat2 and CAT7) to transfer the data. Time time sheet contais the details of the sales order against which they have spent time, their time consumption for providing services and also the activity type they have performed.
    In SE38, while I am trying to upload the data it shows an error saying "Master record for cost center/EAT007 exist only for 2009".I am trying to upload the data for 2010 Jan to Aug.
    When checked, the Cost center's validity in our system is from 01.01.2009 to 12.31.9999.
    Please assist.

  • Actual activity price does not exist for cost center / activity type

    Hi,
    We are trying to upload the time sheet related data(number of hours an employee workred on a project) ect from Non SAP to SAP.
    We have used a customized program and have loaded the data from se38.
    All this HR data will be saved in CAT2
    Later we transfer the time related data into SAP FI/CO using CAT7.
    +When  tested  with a couple of employees time sheets, they got uploaded in SE38 proerly and when transfered it through CAT7 it was properly taking the hour*rate is cost and was reflecting in the respective cost element.
    For a few time sheets in SE38 we were getting an error saying that the cost center(100501)/ activity type(EAT001) does not exist for 2010.
    Hence we have taken, FY 2010, the cost centes and activity types in KP26 and have given the planned Activity as 1. No planned cost in KP06.
    We have run the price calculation forr the FY 2010.
    Then we were able to uplaod the time sheets, but when we tried to transfer the data through CAT7, it throws an error saying no activity price exist for cost center 100501/ activity type EAT001. If I ignore the warning an proceed, no amount is being calculated.
    When uploaded employee time sheets before, all the cost were getting claculated and were entering into  the respective cost elements, but now no amounts are being calculated and it is taking Zero.
    When checked the previous years data i.e, 2009 all amounts are fine, in KSII I can see the activity quantity filled with some numbers in 2009, where from are they comming? I have checked KBk6 nothing was mentioned.

    I never used CAT* though, but the error means that you need to maintain a activity price in KBK6 (Actual price)

  • Receiver Cost Center on CADO report

    Hi,
    In CAT2 I enter time against Activity Type and WBS Elment. When I run the CADO report, I get the Sender Cost Center as the one maintained in PA30 (IT-1). But I dont understand where does the receiver Cost center gets picked from. Please help!

    No, it is not picking from Resp. Cost centre in Basic tab.
    Also, it is not a Statistical WBS element, hence 'CCtr. post' in Control tab is blank.
    Is there any other clue?

  • Cost center conflicts

    Hi Experts,
    In production, some old employees master data (IT 0001) is assigned with cost center. I need to restrict those cost center from those employees. These cost centers are creating conflicts when updating time entry in CAT2 transaction.
    The buisness tells not to delete those cost centers but to restrict them.
    Could you please help me to solve this problem.

    Hello Shadeesh,
    you could go to transaction KS02 - Change Cost Centre. Type in the Cost Centre number you like to delimit.
    Then click in the top left of the screen,  on drop down menu "Cost Center" and click on delete.
    That will not delete the cost center!!!
    It will prompt you on the next screen to delimit the validity period of the cost centre.
    Test in a test environment first if you haven't done that before.

    In Table CATSDB seen we the results from time entry. The fields Send cost center and receiver cost center. An employee has an standard costcenter as masterdata. When this person works a couple of hours on a cost center that differs from his standard (master data), he giving in the cost center were he works on. Every thing is ok in ESS.
    In MSS in the team viewer this person belongs to a team. Bij the approval of time sheets he displays standard (master data) and the u2018differentu2019 cost center. This situation we want to avoid. The u2018differentu2019 cost center is somebody else his responsilibility.
    I try something with Cost center responsility. Can someone help me?

                    I have the same requirement where i have to default the Sending cost center and Actiivty type from infotype 315  in the CAT2 sending cost center and activity , but in the cats profile defaults section i have kept the Cost Center and acitivyt type checboxes being checked , still iam not getting the values of the 0315, please could you let me know how to default the values in cat2.

  • BW Analysis authorization issue on cost center range

    Hello BIW security experts
    I have a problem where I created an analysis authorization on a cost center range and it looks like the interval is not working. The report is just a list of cost centers (demo to users to prove that analysis authorizations work in order to skip 2 managerial cost centers.
    . Cost centers are numeric. Example:  2000100. In the drop down list they appear as such.
    . I want to have the following cost center range: 1000000 to 1000771, 1000773 to 2000771, 2000773 to 9999999.
    Thereofore 1000772  and 2000772 should not appear in the list.
    . In the analysis authorization I have put the 3 ranges above on 3 separate lines. 'BT' is the operator. The cost centers have been selected from the drop down list.
    Results:  I get only 1 record from the report....  2000772. (which is one I want to exclude..
    Steps tried to debug:
    . When I put a list of cost centers in the analysis authorization on separate line with the 'EQ' operator, then the report works.
    . I tried putting ' ' delimiters since cost center is a char field but it fails.
    . I tried adding leading and trailing zeros to fill up the char(10) but no luck.
    . I tried creating a hierarchy with the interval and put it in the hierachy auth. tab and it does not work either. It gives the same number of records than the first step.
    . A hierarchy with single values work.
    I do not know what else to try..

    Please check the spro seeting for this error.
    spro -> enterprise structure - > Assignemtn - >controlling - > Assign Company Code to Controlling Area.
    Please check whether the required Company code has been assigned to the Controlling Area. If not please assign the required and check or the same.
    Please note: A company code can be assigned to one controlling are only

  • HR PNP Logical Database Using Cost Center selection: error!?

    Hi all,
    I'm using PNP logical data base and using the selection-fields available through HR Class Reports (a copy of PAY_DEF) but what happens is if in selection-screen I fill the personnel number say 1000, i get the payroll data I'm trying to get, but if i use the search field cost center of that exact person i get nothing. Does anyone has a clue on what i might be doing wrong? Because all the other search fields work, company code, HR area, everyone, but cost center, and I'm positive that i use the right cost center.

    Even though nobody answered me, i finally found the solution for my problem. so and because someone might need it here it is:
    Go to Spro->Personnel Management->Human Resources Information System->Reporting->Adjusting the Standard Selection Screen and then:
    1st Create Report Categories and
    2nd Assign Report Categories
    Since not all rep. categories on the 1st assignment is explicit on how will sel screen appear i advice you to go to the 2nd point, and execute some of the programs that appear there, and that might look alike to what you are looking for, and if you are so lucky as to find one exact use the same report category in your program, if its very alike, well, copy the Report Category into one of your own and change it the way you need it to be.
    Hope this be helpfull for someone.

    i'm trying to extract COPA : Profitability Analysis data using 1_CO_PA_AFS_CCA(cost center accounting) to custom cube directly(i.e Data source to custom cube without any staging in between datasource & cube).
    In ECC6.0 (tcode: CK40N and then  costs ), per material wise i want to extract labour costs, deprecision, power & fuel, sub contract charges,other manufacturing costs along with this i want to extract i field information "costing lot size".
    I want to extract "costing lot size", but data source doesn't have this field. Is it possible to enhace DS.
    If yes, how to do that?

  • BI-IP Authorizations: Accessing own Cost Center only

    Hi,
    We are currently implementing BI-IP in our company. We have created the ready-input templates and we are prepared for roll-out.
    There is still one concern though which I haven't resolved. I am currently looking for an AUTHORIZATION that will let users access their respective COST CENTERS only. For example, if I am part of the Marketing Group, then I will only be able to access the budget of my respective cost center.
    Can anyone lead me to the right AUTHORIZATION OBJECT in BI-IP to implement this restriction.

    Hi Ramon,
    authorizations for transaction data in BI (and therefore in BI-IP) are not based on authorization objects. You have to make the cost center InfoObject authorization relevant and then create so called Analysis Authorizations for it. Please see the online help:

    Hi Orly,
    You have take it to your ABAPer, who will have to modify the attributes of CSKSZ-VERAK field in CSKSZ structure. ABAPer will have to define it with foreign key and introduce the name of the table, which will be used for deriving the available values. No standard table exists for it, but you can either create your own Z-table or take it from users table (USR02) if you have the necessary information there. Of course, this action would account for modification of standard SAP structure.
