Cost component or cost roll-up issue

Hi
This is with reference to new issue that surfaced in costing recently.  In the company I am working for cost component structure setup is like this : 1) raw material is considered as variable cost 2) activity as fixed and when it rolls-up cost of semifinished will have both fixed and variable since fixed and variable are active for semifinished and that's way its set up for finished goods.
The above set up was designed based upon existing business process.  As per that process raw material is always procured from external vendor.  Recently for the one of the new plant the process changed a bit i.e. raw material is manufactured.  Now the manufactured and purchased raw material flows to same GL account.  With the existing set up the system allowed to create product estimate and PREM cost for both manufactured and purchased raw material.  But recently the system started giving an error saying that fixed cost field is not activated for raw material.  The error makes sense but we don't understand how it worked before and what triggered this error now.
Did anybody come across this issue?
Thanks
Joseph

Hi,
May be for the material in new plant, you may have some fixed cost , through some activity type etc.. Please check.
You can always change your cost component in OKTZ to allow for fixed cost also. But we careful while doing this , as after this you wont be able to see the pased saved data in cost component view. As based on cost component strcuture SAP alling the cost value field in KEPH table and it fixed and variable are stored in two different vaue field in KEPH.

How to Maintaining Cost component under cost component structure?
I am using OKTZ trx for cost element and cost component maintaiance but when i am trying to maintain the cost element and corresponding cost comp , i am not able to find a cost comp on F4 help.

    Using command:

  • Cost component split costed with value of zero

    Hi,
We have ML activated for the Plant/ Valuation area.
We have Company Code Currency type -10 and Controlling Area Currency type - 30. Both Currencies are different.
I have maintained in OKYW, the company code and costing type and Valuation variant.
When I am running the cost estimate for the material and Plant I am getting the error..
"Cost component split costed with value of zero".
I have also checked that the cost element is assigned to Cost Component split and is active.
I am not able to find out what is the reason for the error. I am stuck up and not bale to run the cost estimate.
    Please help/ suggestion.
    regards
    Kami

    Dear Kami,
This error is probably caused by the currency conversion. Error CK 240 is raised if
    a) cost component split in co-area currency is zero
    b) the costing variant is used for standard price update
    c) cost component split in co-area currency is stored on database
(this is a customizing setting of the costing variant)
There are 3 ways to proceed:
    1) use a greater costing lot size for the raw materials with CK 240
--> costing value in CO area currency will be greater 0
    2) disable saving of cost component split in co-area currency
    3) deactivate coding of note 927372 --> please review note 1004727 for details.
    Kind regards,

  • Cost component in cost estimate

    Hi all,
In cost estimate with quantity structure, costs assigned to one of my cost components do not appear in the correct group.
This only happens for a group that should include semi-finished costs. The correspondance in the customizing is correctly made between the cost element and the cost component and when looking at itemization, the correct cost element is displayed but no cost component is shown.
I assume the problem may arise from the fact that my finish product use elements from other cost component, e.g. raw material, packaging,...
Would someone have any idea on this issue?
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Cost component structure - cost elements for FERT and HALB (TC:OKTZ)?

    Hi all,
our cost component structure has the following structure (TC: OKTZ):
    1 Raw materials
    2 Human ressources
    3 Production
    4 Material Overhead
    5 Production overhead
    6 external activity
(this settings are conform with SAP standard - copy from cost comp. structure 01)
To cost comp 1 "raw material" we assigend the relevant (primary) cost elements (consumption raw mat, e,g, steel, wood...).
My question is: In case we insert/post e.g. a semi-finished product to the production order from stock (accor. bill of material), where (in which cost comp.) do I have to assign the relevant cost element? I guess this should be the account "inventory change unfinished product? (maintain in TC: OBYC for transaction BSV according val. class)
Is it correct to assign this cost element to cost comp structure "raw material", because actually it is a semi finished product which is picked up from stock to convert /process further? To problem is, if this cost element is not assigned I get an error in CK11N/CK40N
I hope my wording is not to abstract...
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi..
You don’t need to consider the cost element of production order settlement and production notification.
Cost component structure need the cost element of production order’s debit.

  • CK13N Break up of Mat,labor,Oh in Cost component view / itemisation differ

Material Costed having an Multilevel BOM.
We had the issue like cost component view and itemization view , did not Match. So higher level material is costed again.
Now The total are almost the same between the Components View and the Itemization View, but the breakdown (Matl, Labor, Overhead) is not the same.
Material 484, Labor14, OH59 as per cost component view .
    Material 506 , Labor9, OH43 as per Itemization view.
Now why since it was just re-rolled difference exist in Break down
    Regards
    Poopandian

Do you have any semi finished procut in between costed material and raw material.
Do not forget cost component view is rolled up to higher level with its detail . For example
for finished produt A = 100 (total cost)
    materail SF 80
    Labor          20
but  detail of material semi finished SF = 80
    material RM (raw mat) 60
    lanor = 20
    Nor For A cost component
    material in general = 60
    labour = 40
but in itemization of A you can see
    material = 80
    labour =20

  • Material Ledger : Cost component split different in CO PC and ML

    Hello SAP People,
In ML cost component split I don't have the same split that in CK13N COPC.
    History
We changed the cost component structure in OKTZ, because we wanted to split on two different cost component the cost of Copper :
    -     Copper
    -     Primes :Premium cost (transformation cost for producer) on copper.
In CK11N the split is OK and we can read the new cost element corresponding to premium cost.
To split the costing tool goes on the purchase info records to read condition type that are different for copper and premium.
The problem we have is that when we run Material ledger we are not able to see after a good receipt a similar split in the cost component view.
We already run MLCCS_RESET and MLCCS_Startup programs this month and created new Raw material after. But it seems the ML do not take care of this and all the actual cost (I stop to single level) are on the copper cost component and there is nothing on Premium cost component.
We just run single level on ML for current month.
Could you please help me to explain why we are not able to obtain the correct split between Copper and u201CPrimesu201D

    Hi Marco,
yes, these both are independent from each other. You will have no issue when these are different.
It is very typical that you want to report different kind of information for activities as for materials.
    A typical setup might be
    Activity                                   Material
    Asset depreciation                   Raw Material Cost
    Room cost                               Energy
    Labour                                     Production Cost
    labour overhead                      Production Overhead
    Electricity                                 Packaging
When you use the activity for the production of a material (confirmation CO15) the assignment goes normally to a single cost component in the material, above for example into production cost. This is controlled by the cost element. Only when the primary cost component split is activated and a transfer structure betweeen both is maintained you could achieve
Asset depeciation, Room Cost, Labour overhead  -> Production overhead
    Labour -> Production Cost
    Electricity -> Energy

  • Raw Material Cost Estimate - No split between cost component

    Dears,
I need to execute a material cost estimate considering the Purchasing Info Record (PIR) where 3 different conditions are present:
    1) PB00
    2) FRB1
    3) RUC1
    The scope is:
    - linking PB00 to cost component 1
    - linking FRB1 to cost component 2
    - linking RUC1 to cost component 3
    Cost components are already created.
    I did following steps:
    - creation PIR with these 3 conditions (transaction ME11)
    PB00  10,00 EUR @ 1 KG
    FRB1   2,00 EUR @ 1 KG
    RUC1   3,00 EUR @ 1 KG
    - link condition types to origin groups (transaction OKYO)
    FRB1 linked to FRB1
    RUC1 linked to RUC1
    - link origin groups to cost component (transaction OKTZ)
PB00, is linked to cost component 1 without origin group, but using only account coming from T030 table
FRB1 is linked to cost component 2 using origin group FRB1 and the same acocunt used for condition PB00 coming from T030 table
RUC1 is linked to cost component 3 using origin group RUC1 and the same acocunt used for condition PB00 coming from T030 table
At this moment, when I try to execute the cost estimate with transaction CK11N, the split is not done, and all condition types (all amounts) are linked to cost component 1. The set-up done in OKYO is not considered by the system.
In the material master there's any origin group, if I try to fill in origin group FRB1 all condition types (all amounts) are linked to component 2, and if I try to change the origin group in the material master from FRB1 to RUC1, all condition types (all amounts) are linked to component 3 --> this means that the set-up done OKTZ is correctly considered by the system to link the origin group to the cost components.
The problem is that the system reads the origin group from the material master, instead of transaction OKYO.
How can I solve this problem?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Jody

Pl verify following two things -
    Check valuation variant.
Strategy sequence should have 'L - Price from purchasing info-record' and Sub-strategy should be 'A Quotation price via condition table' or 'B PO price via condition table'.
OKYO setting should have valuation variant associated with your costing variant, along with other details (dont leave that field blank).
Let us know if that works.

  • How to get report for cost estimates material cost only

    Hi Gurus,
We have requirement in sales order costing that we need to develope report which shows only Material cost for all BOM levels.
Normally at lower levels cost of Material and activity cost will be treated as Material cost for next level. Here I want to consider only material cost not activity cost at lower levels
Pls suggest the logic and tables for exploding BOM and fetching material cost only.
    Thanks

If you tick the "Roll up" indicatorfor each cost component  in Cost Comp Str OKTZ, then overheads do  not get added to the material cost... This is my understanding about it.. Is it behaving some thing different in your case??

  • Cost Component Structure (OKTZ) Issue - Max number of cost fields reached

    Hello.
I'm having this issue in OKTZ when adding new cost component in an exisiting cost component structure. it says "maximum number of cost fields reached (40)".
not sure what to do with this.
    please see screenshot
    http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/1700/oktz.jpg

    Hi Andrew,
When yo create the Cost Components in the Cost Component Structure, inside each Cost Component, there will be properties relating to whether the Cost in that Cost Component is Fixed / Variable, relevant to Inventory Valuation or not etc.
To view these options...Go to OKTZ, select the line of your Cost Component Structure, double click on "Cost Component with Attributes" in the left side navigation. Now, you will be able to see  the list Cost Components on right hand side. If you double click on any Cost Component, you will see the properties of that Cost Component.
There, you can see ther radio buttons "Variable Costs" and "Fixed and Variable Costs".
Now, in Standard SAP, you will be able to create a maximum 40 Cost Components. The behaviour of the system goes like this.... If one Cost Component is only "Variable Cost", it will take the space of one Cost Component out of the maximum 40. If  one Cost Component is of "Fixed and Variable Costs", then it will take the space of two Cost Components out of the maximum 40. That means, if all of your Cost Components are "Fixed and Variable", then you will be able to create only 20 Cost Components.
You can find the SAP explanation regarding this in the IMG Documentation...
SPROControllingProduct Cost ControllingProduct Cost PlanningBasic Settings for Material Costing--Define Cost Component Structure. Check the IMG Documentation there to find the following text...
Structure of the Cost Components in a Cost Component Split
The cost components are listed in a cost component structure that can contain up to 40 cost components (cost fields).
You can create up to 40 cost components that contain variable costs.
For cost components that contain full costs, the system creates a second cost field for the fixed costs. This means that you can create no more than 20 cost components that are full costs.

  • COPA Gross Margin report Cost component roll up

    Hi,
I have a question about COPA valuation using standard cost estimate and roll up of cost components in Gross Margin report.
I would like to build a simple Gross Margin Report in KE30 showing Billed quantity, Revenues and COGS split to Material, Labour and Overhead Components, but with cost components roll-up from SGH to FG.
In order to have the split of COGS I believe I need to maintain Valuation using Standard cost estimate in COPA. However, from my experience, I think that in Gross Margin reports I saw in COPA in the past - there was no cost component rollup from Semi finished to Finished products.
I mean if we sold 1 piece of FG at a price of 20 EUR and cost components for it would split into:10 - Materials, 2 - Labor,3 - Overhead (Total COGS of 15 EUR)
If  this is 2-level production and this FG has SFG in its cost estimate, the SFG cost split into: 3 - Materials, 1 -Labor and 2 - Overhead
From my experience all costs of SFG used to produce that FG would go under Materials Component in Gross Margin report (312=5 from SFG would go to Material component of Sold Finished Product). Is it possible to have in Gross Margin report situation where Material Component from SFG would be rolled up to Material component in Sold Finished Product, Labor component from SFG rolled up to Labour component in FG... etc?
    Regards,
    Karol

    Hi Karol
I dont think that SAP functions this way... In your eg, the Cost of SFG (321) does not roll upto to the Material cost of FG
Moreover, it is not controlled in COPA, but in Product Costing
When you define your Cost Comp Str in OKTZ, you can tick the check box "Roll up Cost Component" in each of the cost components.... Once you do this, the Overhead cost in SFG will be rolled up to the Overhead cost of FG (And Not to Material Cost of FG)...
Costing keys would simply fetch the cost estimates and transfer it to COPA.... So, set it up right at the source in OKTZ and it should be done

  • Cost Component  Issue

    Hi SAP Gurus
I'm using a same cost element for Salaries and Direct Labour for Cost Planning.
Salary is planned against ADMIN Activity Type where as Direct labour is planned against MACH Acticity Type
But in Cost Component Structure, Ihave 1  Cost Component   for Salaries and other for Direct Labour.
How could I saggregate the Cost in two Cost Component using same CE
    Quick Response is appreciated

    HI,
    go to oktz,
define cost component structure with name X,  select it clik on cost component with sttribute, here u define the attributes as with new entries like,
    X     1     raw material,
    X     2    semi finished,
    X     3    activity type,
    x     4    Overhead,
select 1 attribute click on Assignment- cost component- cost comp inerval, new entries give corresponding cht of acc, and all consumption raw materials,
similary select second attribute and give semifinished G/L,
Now coming to your prob, select attribute 3 ,  as your using Admin for salaries, mach for labour, give the corresponding g/l ( secondary cost element) assigned for these activities ( u can find this in KL03 - allocation cost element),give all g/l assigned to different activities in (from cost element) column to ( to cost element) column.

  • Auxiliary cost component splitting issue in CK11N

    Hi Friends,
We are using primary cost component split for the auxiliary cost component structure for getting more information.  We have a machine cost in the main cost component which is split in three auxiliary cost component i.e. Energy, Maintenance and depreciation.
My belief is that with the activation of primary cost component split the costs have to flow from cost center in its primary cost element form to this cost component structure.
With the current data that we have, the cost component split is seen for all the three cost elements in the auxiliary cost component split u2013 But we are not able to trace the source of this amount as we do not have any splitting structure in place, the plan costs are only for Energy not for Maintenance and depreciation.
    OKES Configuration:
    Selection for assignment:
Cost Element               GMACHINE (only for Energy)
    Activity Type     MACH
    Splitting rules:
    10                                        21     Equivalence Numbers Planning
Machine 0.64 is splitting into as follows Depreciation 0.41, Energy 0.12 and Maintenance 0.11
I am afraid from where splitting happening for Energy and depreciation and there is not receiving   splitting rules.
    Appreciate for quick reply
    Thanks

    Hi to Evrybody,
I am trying to configure Primary Cost Component Split,, but I am confused what are the technical steps to configure such a structure 
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_40b/helpdata/en/7e/cb7e8643a311d189ee0000e81ddfac/content.htm
There are several requirements how to configure in SAP Primary Cost Component Split:
1)You assign a cost component structure in the CO version in Cost Center and Process cost planning!  Which Cost Component Structure? The Primary Cost Component Structure or the Cost Component Structure?
2)You determined the prices through planned price iteration!                                                                 We set this indicator in the CO Version itself?
3)You define a Cost Component Structure for Primary Cost Component Split of Product Cost Planning! How do we define it, via simply checking the check in OKTZ?
I want to understand when you create Cost Component Structure and Primary Cost Component Structure, which one of these 2 needs to be assigned in the CO version in Cost Center Accounting? And the other thing is I do not make the difference between Cost Component Structure and Auxiliary Cost Component Structure? Could you please shortly describe what is the difference? Other thing is when you create Primary Cost Component Structure and its components, DO THEY INCLUDE ONLY RANGE OF PRIMARY COST ELEMENTS OR IT IS A TECHNICAL STEP ONLY TO CHECK THAT CHECK IN OKTZ FOR Primary Cost Component Split. Let me know, thank you very much for your help and cooperation again!

  • Cost component wise value is not showing

    Hi,
I have created one costcomponenent structure and cost component created like 10,20,30,40 and 50 and each we have assigned saprate GL's. I  runned standard cost estimate for one material and i checked the cost component breakup, system is not giving the breakup as per my GL assignment. In 10 i have assigned raw material gl and 20 i have assigned semimaterial but in the costing update rawmaterial and semimaterial values are updated in 10. It is not updating 10 and 20 respectively. Can you guide me to solve this issue. Total value of the material is correct.(valuation class of the materials is different for rawmaterial and semimaterial)
    govind

    hi govindh..
You do not have to creat cost component for Semi finished material produced inhouse because Primary raw materials for manufacturing this item has already cost component and when this semis will be used in subsequent process cost will be rolled up to respective raw material components used to manufacture the semis.
But if you have purchased Semis, you can ctreat seperate cost component as Purchased SEMIS and assign consumption GL of purchased SEmis in that component to view it seperately.
    We have such senerio.
      thanks.

  • Actual Cost Component Split for cross company code transfers.

    Hi,
    My issue is as follows.
Production process spans across 2 company codes.
Goods are produced in production company code, transferred (via stock transport order) to marketing company code and sold to customers from marketing company code.
Stock transport order follows sales scenario i.e.. marketing company code creates purchase order for goods from production company code and production company code bills marketing for the goods.
Actual costing / Material ledger is implemented in both company codes.
We would like to roll-up (transfer) actual cost component split from production company code to marketing company (in a similar way as in product cost planning in cross-company scenario).
However, due to the fact that the transfer between the companies is in fact a "sales" the goods in marketing company code are seen as externally purchased and the only cost component we can create is based on PO conditions. But we want to get the info about production cost component split.
Once again this is for ACTUAL cost component split.
I would be grateful for any ideas.
    Thanks,
    Szymon

    Hi Udo / Szymon.
I have a question about this issue.
In the sap help  about multiple valuations / group costing:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/7e/cb848443a311d189ee0000e81ddfac/content.htm
Its not clear if this can roll up the Actual CCS? or what it do? My question is because i read the documentation of  bussiness function: LOG_MM_SIT,and also the book *Actual Costing with The SAP Material Ledger*
states that we can handle the rollup of actual cost component split inter-company only with this BF active.
    Could you clarify about this?
    thanks!!
    Arturo.
    Group Valuation
Goods movements between affiliated companies not involving intercompany profits are processed using the group view. This view determines the actual cost of goods manufactured for the group, and does not include any intercompany profits. You can, however, display internal profits as delta profits in the legal and/or profit center views.
When you define cost components, you can specify that internal profits between company codes and/or profit centers are shown in detail in the cost component split. You activate these delta profits for the group valuation in the attributes of the cost components.
For each cost component structure, there can only be one cost component under which the delta profit is shown. This means that neither the legal view nor the profit center view can have more than one cost component for the delta profit.
To cost multiple values, you define a costing type for each valuation approach in Customizing for Product Cost Planning. You use the costing type to specify which valuation approach you require. You define each costing type in a new costing variant and carry out a cost estimate with this costing variant.
Group Costing and Multiple Valuation Approaches
In-Depth Detail of the Value-Added Chain: Partner Cost Component Split
You can display in detail the costs of materials and services of every company department in the value-added chain for every stage of the production process. The partner can be traced for every material used. To do this, you define a partner version, which enables the value-added portions of each manufacturing level to be displayed in detail. For further information about this, see Partners and Direct Partners.
The group cost component split can be displayed according to your partner definition. You can display the cost structures of the partners hierarchically according to your requirements, such as the company code segments on the highest level and the plant or profit center segments underneath.
To display partner cost component splits, define a partner version in Customizing and enter it in the costing type.
