Cost estimate and Dynamic Sourcing

We have multiple levels of sourcing in R/3 and the cost estimate is using this info to determine the cost at a distribution center. The special procurement key is used in R/3. We are now in the process of implementing APO/SNP and dynamic sourcing will be used. So, the question is how to use the sourcing from SNP when running a cost estimate. The business users want to have the most accurate sourcing data when running the costing run. There are over 600 production and distribution facilities and multiple levels of sourcing today, so updating this info manually in R/3 would be a challenge. Is there any intergration between SNP and PC or is custom development the only option?

Hi Jeff,
in SAP you never know, but I am almost sure that there is no such integration. In product costing there is a call into the ERP procurement to determine the best source of suuply and the associated costs. Might be that there is a user-exit to feed in alternative information, but probably no call into SNP.
I have heard this requirement the first time now. Sounds interesting...
best regards,

  • Material cost estimate and mateiral cost estimate with quantity structure

    Hi sap guys,
What is the difference between material cost estimate and material cost estimate with quantity structure

    Hi
Both are in one way the same.
Material cost estimate can be calculated as
    1. Material with quantity structure
    2. Material without quantity structure

  • K/834 no standard cost estimate and ke435 costing key 000 does not exist

    Hi ,
scenario as under we have following type of materials
normal Material that has cost estimate
    Configuarable material
Material without cost estimate -prices are updated thru MR21 (as some legacy system calculated the price)
There are many company codes and use one or more above  category of material. further we have common Material type and valuation class.
we need cost component split to get updated in COPA and for that i create 2 costing key one for normal and other for normal one and developed an enhancement (KEPC) that check whether material is configurable or not. based on that it assign 001 or 002 costing key
it went well but failed for material that has no cost estimate and got error K/834.
To tackle same we insert further logic to check for normal material whether cost estimate exist, if yes then assign costing key 001 else ignore it. configurable material logic remain as it is. it working fine for normal and Configuarable material but normal material without cost estimate resulted in error KE435.
    need to know:
-at first place why system  generates K/834 error for enhancement - earlier we were using assignment rule (KEPC) where we use valuation class and assigned costing key 001, it worked for normal one and ignore configurable one and normal material without cost estimate. I haven't changed costing key rule and exclusive error is not marked .
    - any other way to tackle besides resetting message class from error to warning or changing Materila type or valuation class as that is not acceptable due to other complexity.

    Hi,

  • Costing run and premilinary cost estimate

    Dear All,
Is it possible to run cost estimate and premilinary cost estimate for a product cost collector back dated.  I mean for 01.03.2007. I know  it is not possible. But anyother way out.

    Hi Rangarajan
I think it is possible in future date and not backwards.

  • Issue with Standard Cost estimates / Material Ledger

    Background:
We have been using SAP for the last 5 years with Material Ledger active. Due to a number of reasons, we have not revised its standard cost estimates from 2001 till now. This means that at month end, we do not mark and release prices as recommended, nor do we mark prices and use dynamic release.
    What Happened:
A new material called PFSW3 was made. This is a FERT. Before production
could start my team released the standard cost estimate for this material. Production was now able to proceed without problem. Then, when the time came to sell the material (VF02), SAP again raised the error 'cost estimate not found'. On checking the standard price in MM03, we discovered that the future cost estimate was missing. So we created and marked a new cost estimate in the middle of February 2007.
    Problem:
When the first sale took place, SAP released the marked cost estimate and posted a Price Change document to adjust for the new standard cost. I understand this was due to dynamic release. Now, when month end came, the system settled all the production orders of material PFSW3 but did not do multi level costing on it.
    Internal Investigation:
My team has determined that the material PFSW3 has price determination 2 set by mistake. All our other production materials (HALB and FERT) are
set to price determination 3 in the material master (accounting view).
    Questions:
    To sum this situation up,
we need to know why the material PFSW3 was not marked closed in its period status (CKM3) at the time of closing through CKMLCP?
What are the implications of not closing this material in Feb 2007 (current period status is showing 'Quantities and values entered')?
How can we close this material this month?
The future cost estimate is again missing for PFSW3 in March 2007 and I
fear we are going to face more problems as this material is sold to customers.
Please respond this is an urgent issue.

    Dear Shumyl,
Please, have a look at Note 645083 - Material period status set to "Closing Entry Completed" that might help to closing your material in previous period.
    Hope it will be useful.
    Regards,
    Flaviano.

  • Sales Order Cost Estimates -- Versions?

In our MTS plant we are creating cost estimates each month with different version numbers so they can easily be compared to review cost changes.
This concept in our MTO plant is (of course) a problem.
We would like to create a dummy sales order and on each line list a KMAT and build an "average" configuration.  We use variant config, so the sales order bom is built automatically.  It also costs automatically.  We would like to save this cost estimate and compare it with a cost estimate of the same configuration next month.   I do not have an option for version CK51n, nor do I see a Costing Date in KEKO table.  Either of these items for MTS would create a second cost estimat and allow comparison.
Is there a way to compare Sale Order Cost Estimates across periods?
Any other suggestions as to how to obtain the required data??
    Thank you for all suggestions!!

Any one think of a solution?
    thanks

  • Report for Cost Estimate

    Hi,
Our client require a report for Planned Cost Estimate, where costing run will be on FG product and Client want Activity Hours and Cost for that FG product.
(for all the FG products we have multilevel BOM and Routing hence, Activity Hours are maintained at assembly level).
    Regards,

As far as I know there is no report that gets you data for multiple materials at a time. You have to develop a Z report for this.
Logic is you have to go to KEKO and pick up the cost estimate and date for the particular material
and then go to KEPH table and pick up all the cost components for that material.
Then only you will have a report sapnning across multiple materials.
Revert back if you need more info.
    Thanks

  • Costing variant and production version

We have two costing variants "C" (used to create current cost estimates) and "F" (Used to create Future cost estimate). All of the production versions in the system have a validity date of 9999. Is there a way to tell the system to use one production version when costing using Variant C and another version when costing is done using variant F.
Or if that is not possibel than how do we use one production version in 2011 while recosting current standards and another production version in 2012. (Remember the production version that we are using currently in 2011 has a validity date of 9999)
    Regards

    Hi
In your Costing Variant - You have a tab callled "Qty Structure Control".... Here you can specify BOM Determination and Routing Selection id.... i.e. If the BOM / Routing attached to the prod version can be assigned a specific BOM Determination Class and Routing Selection id, it can work
    OR ELSE
While doing CK11N, you can manually specify the Prod Version in the "Qty Struct" Tab..... Create an LSMW for CK11N and you can do a mass costing like CK40N.... CK40N does not have this option of specifying Prod Version
    I would prefer 2nd option

  • AFS grid value/valuation type not picked in sales order cost estimate

    Hi Experts,
We have different valuation types in the material master. This is part of the AFS, where each grid value is a valuation type. While making a sales order cost estimate and in one sales order item, we have 3 grid values (valuation types), system is costing only for one grid value and that too for the entire quantity. This way the costing is wrong as different grid values have different BOMs and routings.
Is there any specific setting to have the grid value to be picked up in the sales order cost estimate? Or am i missing some setting? in general product costing settings or AFS product costing settings?
    Best Regards

  • Valuation using material cost estimate

    Ciao a tutti,
We have create a material cost
estimate without standard structure(unit costing) not FOR ALL MATERIALS, but only for ONE
VARIANT of generic material (retail solution) (because the other variant have the same price, and because we have to reproduced 5000 BOM in unit cost for just
one variant with transaction KKPA LSMW)
So, now we have to valuated the material cost estimate when the customer create the billing document and put the split of the cost estimate in co-pa
Our prolem is : we have calculate standard cost estimate for 5000
variant not for all variant (because our customer crete the BOM in unit
costing with transaction KKPA and LSMW, and they refuced the idea to
calculate 30000 cost estimate with lsmw) so when we crete a billing
document with a variant that haven't cost estimate created the system doesn't
valuated the cost estimate (the system works well), but how I can change the variant in the valuation and put the variant that have the cost
    estimate calculate?
Wiht the transaction "Assign Costing Keys to Any Characteristics" I think
    is not possible.
I must to use enhance COPA0002?
    Thank you very much

    Hi All,
I am also facing the problem for Sales Order Cost Estimate. and the Costing Status is VO(Marked without errors).
    I have done the following
created the Costing Key (sales order cost estimate)
assigned costing key to the material type.
assigned to the respective value fields
    sales order cost estimate,
    Run the RA
    Settlement done.
But in COPA, cost estimates are not being split up based on the cost component (like Material, Labour and Over head) and it is getting posted to COGS only.
Do we need to change the costing status to FR, if yes, but how to do ?

  • Material cost estimate with quantity structure (tcode: CK11N)

    Hey dear friends.
I donu2019t know in which forum I should put my question above.
In fact, Iu2019m new to SAP PM module.
Iu2019m trying to create material cost estimate with quantity structure (tcode: CK11N) for a material u201CXu201D.
    This material is manufactured.
While running the transaction CK11N, I got an error message.
After analyzing this error message, Iu2019ve realised that somebody had assigned wrong activity types to cost centers which are linked to this material in tcode: CR03, tab: costing.
So Iu2019ve changed and assigned the right activity types.
Then, Iu2019ve tried to run the tcode CK11N again. But the system still brings the wrong activity types and seems to ignore the ones that Iu2019ve assignedu2026
It seems like the old activity types still linked to the cost centers somewhere else than in tcode CR03u2026
Any idea about what am I mising ?
    Thank's in advance.
    Bahia.

    Dear Bahia,
If its rate routing means,i guess you must be working in REM scenario.
So goto CA22,delete the existing operation and then assign the same work center in a new
operation, check what activity types is it proposing in the rate routing,if its reflecting correctly means
    save the datas.
Also goto KKF6N--->click the change mode icon and then calculator button to create a preliminary cost
estimate and then save the datas.
One of our forum friend has asked you to check the production order read PP master data once
again, but understand there is no production order concept in REM scenario, only planned orders.
Then come back with your queries.

  • Valuation with material cost estimate: error with product " 200038 "

    Hi,
    I am getting an error:
Valuation with material cost estimate: error with product " 200038 "  (Message KE350).
    Kindly assist on the same?

If this material is mto material go to t.code KE40 and maintain define access to standard cost estimate define cost key with
    "Transfer sales orde cost estimatex".
If it is mts material define costing key with Transfer std cost estimate  and in costing data
    costing variant : ppc1
    costing verstion: 1
period  indicator:  Release std cost estimate matching with goods issue or material costing matching posting date.
    This will resolve ur problem.

  • Cost estimate/costing run

    Hi
What is the difference between cost estimate and costing run?
    Thanks,
    Nivi

    Hello Ram,
There are 3 steps in Costing Procedure. They are
    1. Creation of cost estimate
    2. Marking of cost estimate
    3. Release  of cost estimate
Once you release cost estimate, then only system will update the required fields in the database and can be used for transactions.
Hence, cost estimate means, it is just estimated total cost of the product and Costing Run means which inclusive of all the above three steps to complete the total process.
Please let me know if you require any further clarifications.
    Thank you,

  • Cost Estimate Run

    Hi Gurus,
Please tell me why we run cost estimate and what is the use of it.
What are impacts of running cost estimate?
    Please revert asap.
    Thank You

    Hi,
Cost Estimate is runned to calculate the Cost of Goods Manufactured or Cost of Goods Sold for your Materials and Update the prices in Material Master.
You have different ways of Calculating your COGS and COGM in SAP.
    The Important methods are
Cost Estimate With Qunatity Structure and Without Quantity Structure.
In Cost Estimate With Qunatity Structure  you will not have the option of entering the lot size for your Cost Estimation. It will be automatically determined from your BOM and Routing.
Whereas In Cost Estimate  Without Quantity Structure you need to manually enter the Quantity at the time Cost Estimation.
With Regard to Impact of Cost Estimates.
While Running the Costing Run you have to Mark or Release your Cost Estimation results inorder to Update the prices in Material Master record.
Hope I have briefly given an idea baout Cost Estimates and its impact.

  • Raw materials on MAP with split valuation used in standard cost estimate

We have a few raw materials which are purchased from different vendors and of different brands. We have opened split valuations for these raw materials. These raw materials are later used in manufacture of different finished goods. We use MAP for raw materials and Std. for finished goods. What configuration and processing steps will be required to run standards cost estimate and what will be standard price for a finished good considering the following example:
    Material X is finished good
Raw Material A with split valuation @ USD 5 (brand aplha)   &   USD  10 (brand beta)
Raw Material B without split valuation @ USD 1
It is expected that we used brand aplha 60% of the time and brand beta 40% of the time and production batch size is usually 100 Kg.
    Please reply
Edited by: Chris SAP on Sep 29, 2011 7:56 AM

    hi chris
Hope you have configured the material A for split valuation. while calculating standard cost estimate for the material C. through ck11n, the system will pick up the header price from material master.
But here you are saying that you have chances of using the material A, 60% of brand alpha and 40% brand beta
Instead of using split valuation use mixed costing concept. create the material A with separate Ids and create two boms one with alpha and the other with beta.
create procurement alternative in CK91N and mixed ratio with Ck94 and release the mixed cost estimate
please go through this thread also
