Cost Involved in Implementing EP

Hi Experts,
In Normal SAP R/3, the cost involved is directly propotional to the Number of user license. If we use EP to communicate between SAP R/3, is the same rule applies here?
In a company with 20000 Employees how can we Implement EP with out a big cost?

The same principle applies, but the license cost is much lower. For example I think an ESS user is approximately a 20th of the cost of a normal finance user.

I don't think there won't any extra cost involved in implementing REFX.
Check the OSS Note : 443311 - Extension SAP Real Estate: Technical Basics.
As per the note you need to activate, once you activated you can use only REFX & Classical RE will no longer available for use.

License cost involved in HCM Process and Forms for Adobe Interactive Forms

Costs involved (macro level) upgrading to BI7

Hi BI Experts,
If a customer implemented BW3.5 less than 1 year and never went 'live', and now decides to upgrade to BI 7, continuing with the current project,
In your opinion, is the cost involved the same when compared to a customer in the same shoe but have already gone 'live' on BW3.5 a while back?
So, the difference here is in the go-'live' status of BW3.5.
Any comments would be appreciated.

It never went 'live' because implementation has not completed. It only began implementation less than 1 year ago.
So, this is precisely my question.
What is the Costs difference for a company in such situation wanting to upgrade to BI 7 and a company who already went 'live' with BW3.5 and also wanting to upgrade to BI 7. That is, from a license fee perspective payable to SAP.
If the costs is the same, that is, you pay $xxxxxxxxx for BW 3.5 regardless of it having gone 'live' or not and you need to pay $yyyyyyyy for BI 7 as long as you upgrade to it.

Cost involved in changing the code using log4j.properties to log4j.xml

i have finished my application, and it was done in such a way that logging is done using log4j but it was using log4j.properties file.
now i need to change it to log4j.xml. i need to do this at the earliest. so i need to know the cost involved in it?. do i need to change a lot on my app to read the log4j.xml?. In my app there is a function named getProperties, which actually reads the log4j.properties file.

actually i donot understand what does it mean to move in a directory thats in classpath means. i have to use logging in my webapplication running in tomcat. and my log4j.xml has to reside in catalina.home/properties/. My log4j.properties have been residing here and it had worked well woth the previous function. Now what i did is placed the log4j.xml under properties folder. Now tell me what modifications should i make in the above code.

(i.e. the initialize() method) because log4j will

the classpath, automatically, the first time it is
called.I prefer not remvoing this function as this function is being called in many of my classes... and we don't have time to edit all...

Costing and an implementation timeframe

I'm planning to implement Oracle Dataguard on Enterprise Edition.
Does someone advice me a rough cost and the implementation timeframe?
By boss is looking for that to make decision.

Is FDM now bundled in version 11.1.1 or is there additional costs involved?

We recently purchased System 9.3.1 (appox 7 months ago) and found some areas of concerns with the Informatica and EPM products that we recieved. I was wondering if FDM is now bundled in Version 11.1.1 or are there addtional costs/licenses involved?

There are additional costs for both FDM and the associated adaptor you will need.
Your Oracle Rep and/or Oracle Partner can provide specifics on cost.
I've used FDM and EPM Architect quite a bit -- they fulfill different purposes. People needing Sarbox controls or needing to perform transformations on their data and allow end-users to map between systems find FDM to be very useful.

Costs Involved with SAP Netweaver PI 7.1?

Just wanted to ask if there are any transaction based costs for the SAP Netweaver PI 7.1?
For example, data is sent to PI -> PI sends data to 3rd party software (and vice-versa).
Would there be a transaction costfor the scenario above? Thank you in advance for your help.

If I'm not mistaken, with PI you have to pay for messages sent to a non SAP system.
I know that we do pay for our B2C Rosettanet messages.
But each customer will have a different contract...

BexMap, geocoding, arcview- what is involved in implementation?

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how big a project it is to install Arcview and enable geocoding in BW?
Can anyone give me an overview of where Arcview should be installed, required hardware, effort in configuring it, etc?
I cannot find proper installation or operational/administration documentation.
(The SAPHelp section on Geocoding is useless)

Best solution for... let's say: generic material.

Hi,
each final product that is sold by my company is specifically designed for every sales order (a project is created for every sales order). This final product is composed by different components. One component, for example, could be one machine that is bought to one of our vendors, but this machine is different for every project (not only its characteristics but also its value). Should I create a different material code for every machine or should I use some sort of "generic material" to solve this problem? If so, how should I proceed? what would happen with the average price of this material for every project?

There could be more than 1 possible solution to this query based on your requirements and volume of such materials.
First you need to decide whether your case is that of ETO (Engineer to Order) or MTO (Make to Order). If it is ETO may be you can go for DIEN material.
If it is MTO, than you can configure variant configuration. Variant Configuration is very much data intensive and needs lot of time if you have many products with various combinations (variants).
If such scenarios are very few, than may be you can think of creating generic material codes as well.
But you will have to judge for your business and come to a business case which one jjustifies the cost involved in implementing either of these solutions.

Hi,
the CO-Sources (and PM is similar there) deliver plan and actual costs in different rows separated with the characteristics 0VTYPE and 0VERSION (this one separating different versions of plan data) in your case you will get in your transactional data:
ServiceOrder   0VTYPE    SWG (i leave the rest of the keys and attributes out)
SO1000          20             15.000    for your plan date
SO1000          10             10.000    that are your actual data
so what wil happen if 0VTYPE is not a Key in your DSO is that first the plan record is updated in DSO and then the second actual record overwrites this value becaus both have the same key SO1000.
You have to define carefully what keys you use in DSO to avoid this. If you can try create a test-Cube on base of the DataSource fields and look how the data are displayed in there because a cube regards all fields as key's.

A company spends 40% on Purchasing SAP Liscence,

20% on Servers ,
5% on PC systems on which Abap programmers and Functional Consultants sits,

This depends a) on the servers your buy and b) on the implementation. An implementation of e. g. just FI is less expensive than if you implement more "modules".

Linux ist not "freeware". There only specific distributions supported (SuSE SLES, Redhat Enterprise Server), especially the ones you you named are not. So you will need to buy an OS and maintenance license for the OS too.

We also use Linux everywhere and money (or licenses) were not the reason to use one or the other but rather technical reasons.
The hardware and license costs are usually ony a very small amount of the total implementation costs. How much however, is project specific.
Many people think Windows is "easier" than Unix and use it but I personally think that both are equally "difficult"; one shouldn´t let oneself cheat by having the possibility to "manage the system by clicking"

The detail can be difference per country especially about mandays calculation. The license could be the same for all countries. The estimations are:
1. 5 license = 13,000 USD
2. Consultancy = 250 - 400 USD (depends on consultant experience and certifications)
3. The modules are ERP ranges from Financial - HR. Total modules 13 including reports.
4.30 days for standard and no customisation

Enterprise Portal Implementation - Cost wise.

Hi Experts,
Had a few questions/doubts in my mind regarding the costing side of implementation of Enterprise portal.
If i take an example that an Enterprise has SAP ECC 6.0 implemented, and would need to implement ESS/MSS packages !!!
Can someone please help in explaining :-
- What amount would an enterprise need to spend to get the EP packages?
- Availability of different packages provided by SAP?
- The licensing cost and what all different packages are available provided by SAP.
