"Cost" isn't a valid reference ...

I'm new to Numbers - lifelong Excel user/developer.
I'm trying to do something which I beleive should be extremely simple. I have two spreadsheets, one called "Expenses" and one called "Summary." Revenues has three tables.
In the "Summary" spreadsheet, I'm in a table and I'm trying to multiply a cell from the "Fixed Costs" table in "Expenses" by 12 to get the annual fixed costs.
When I type "=" and then use my mouse to select any cell in the "Fixed Costs" table in the "Expenses" spreadsheet, it fails to return a valid reference.
Instead of a valid reference, it just the text "Y1 Cost" ... which generates the error in the subject of this discussion. (See graphic).
All of the other tables in "Expenses" return proper cell references (see below).
I've verified that the cell in question is numeric (its a formula itself).
I've deleted the table and re-created it.
If I try to create a sum (=sum( ... .and then select B2:B3)... it works. But selecting a single cell does not.
Its making me a bit crazy.
I can work around it ... but I'd sure appreciate understanding why its behaving this way, so I can avoid it in the future.

"Spreadsheet" = "Document"?
Or do you mean "My document has two Sheets, "Expenses" and "Summary"
What is "Revenues"? Another Sheet in the current Document? A separate Document?
Is your profile accurate? It lists Mac OS X v10.4.10, one update before the final one for v10.4. Unlikely to be a contributing factor, but possible.
I don't see a reason for the failure. I would suggest turning off 'Use header cell names as references' while building formulas/tables, but that may just be personal preference on my part.

This is actually a problem I have with many calculations in Numbers but I will use the following as an example:
I am trying to calculate the y-intercept and slope for a set of data. Table 1 contains the raw data with each data point in triplicate. In Table 2, column 1 is the ordinate value and column 2 is the abscissa value, which is the average of the triplicates. I would like to place the calculation for the y-intercept in column 3 and the slope in column 4, but always get the error, "A2:A7" isn't a valid reference" for a result. Instead, I have to have a third table for just the y-int and slope. Why isn't A2:A7 a valid reference?

No, I didn't; I only had a 5 rows but I made it 7 rows - so it was a 4 column x 7 row table - and then the formulas worked. The odd thing is that there was still only data in the first 5 rows and, after I set up the formulas, I reduced the table back to 4x7 and the formulas remained unchanged. Thanks for the help.

Unsolved: unable to open file because it isn't a valid Keynote document

I'm trying to open a presentation I made some time ago, it is a .key file I used to open without any problems. Now the message appears:
"Unable to open file because it isn't a valid Keynote document".
I tried the solution described here, but it didn'd work: i change extension to .zip, unzip it and there is no index file. There are only pictures from the presentation in .tiff
I also sent the file to my friends and they had the same problem opening it. It's very strange, I've successfully opened it before. And the problem is only with THIS file!
Please help me out!

Have you tried to create a new Keynote Presentation? Do you have another previously saved Keynote file you can try to open? These will make sure it is a problem with this specific presentation and not the whole program.
Try to delete the Keynote Preferences. They are located in the folder Macintosh HD>Users>your username>Library>Preferences and titled com.apple.iWork.Keynote.plist.
Your profile shows that you are still on Mc OS 10.6.6, is that true? You might try to update to 10.6.7 as I believe that there was a font issue fixed in this update (I don't know for sure since I am still on 10.5.8).
Try those and report back and we will see what we can come up with.

URGENT - Error "Unable to open file because it isn't a valid Keynote document" - and there is no index file (so the usually suggested solution doesn't work)

As you see in the heading, I am getting the error "Unable to open file because it isn't a valid Keynote document". There has been a number of threads on this and there seems to be a usual work around that works in many cases, by changing the file extension to .zip and then looking for the index file and making some more extension changes...unfortunately, in my case (and it also happened to others), there is no index file, so the usually suggested solution doesn't work...Can someone please help? I am working on a tight deadline and would like to try and recover the file.

Rt6_redirect: source isn't a valid nexthop for redirect target

I create a ipv6 tunnel for my ipv4 network, so I can visit ipv6 websites, such as http://ipv6.google.com, like this:

where $ISATAP_SERVER is the ip address of the remote server, and $LOCAL_IP is my ipv4 address.
This is the route info for ipv6:

fe80::/64 dev eth0 proto kernel metric 256
fe80::/64 via :: dev sit1 proto kernel metric 256
default dev sit1 metric 1
Now I can visit ipv6 websites, and everything seems OK.
But when I check the log file /var/log/everything.log, I get much information like this:
Mar 4 19:46:29 localhost kernel: [ 8073.183872] rt6_redirect: source isn't a valid nexthop for redirect target
It seems there‘s something wrong with the route for ipv6, but I can't figure it out.
I've googled this for a long time, but many is about the source file route.c, nothing helpful.

Thanks cor-el, but the problem is solved, as far as the redirect issue.
Maybe I should have started a new topic.....maybe I will....
I just thought since the issue I was having because I had reset the referrer header, was explained through this thread, it would be easier than explaining it again in a new topic.
At least 1 of those programs I listed, as best I can understand, allows for customized referrer header, site by site. I just can't understand the other one though.
But you know what, I think I'll just start a new topic, and ask if anyone has experience with these, or can explain the one I can't understand.

VI isn't a valid labview file

Hello,
i had a computer crash yesterday evening during the development of a VI.
Now, i can't open the VI any more. Labview generates folllowing error :
LabView : End of File (EOF) found. The file "ChangeDevice.vi" isn't a valid Labview File.
The file seems to be corrupt. Somebody knows if i can recover the file ?

Sorry - I can't help you. But - I wanted to add that the same thing happened to me last month
when the computer hung when I turned a PXI chasis back on while the PC was running. I know
now that is not the right sequence. Anyway - my "myname.vi" VI continuously prompts me to
find "myname.vi" when I open it. I was lucky and had a backup copy from the day before,
so lost only one day's work.
I downloaded some file recovery utilities and went searching for left over file pieces - but found
none. This suggests to me that LabView overwrites the existing file rather than making a new
file then renaming the old - as I often do when developing robust file handling protocals.
I am using LV 7.1.1

Costing Run Error: No Valid Source of Supply

Hi Experts,
   I am new to Costing,
    While executing Costing Run for a matrial ABC in plant XXX with a Costing Run 111, I get an error No valid source of supply could be found
but when I run the Costing Run for Same material for sam plant with different Costing Run It gets executed properly.
I have read the thread related to it where it is giving reference to note 713111, 499699 and 422926 but there is no check for Source List in Material master.

Use OKKN as Jigar says.
Select the costing variant that you are using and then click on "valuation variant"
Look at the tab for subcontract - this will show what the costing variant is useing to creat cost estimates with.
Your options for subcontracting are:
2 Effective Price from Quotation Without Fixed Costs
3 Net Quotation Price
4 Gross Quotation Price
5 Effective Price from Quotation
6 Effective Price from Purchase Order Without Fixed Costs
7 Net Purchase Order Price
8 Gross Purchase Order Price
9 Effective Price from Purchase Order
If your material has a Special Procuremnet key 30 - then one of these strategies has to be used.

Error Landed Cost - Customs rate not valid (SAP B1 9.0 PL10)

We would like your advise on the following issue.
We are currently using SAP Business One 9.0 (PL10) and we are trying to add a Landed Cost document, but the following error occurs:
Customs rate not valid. [Landed Costs - Rows - Duty Rate]
The SAP Note: '1928862 - An Error occurs when adding Landed Costs', which describes the error, is listed in the References section of PL09 and PL10 upgrade. However, the error still occurs.
Any advise on how to solve this issue?

Avi valid reference

An AVI file can created or opened via "IMAQ AVI Create" or "IMAQ AVI Open," respectively. Each of these subVIs produce an AVI File Reference. Is there any way to check if that reference is valid? The "Not a NaN/Path/Ref?" primitive always returns true for this datatype, regardless of whether the AVI file reference refers to a valid open file or not. I have also tried other methods, all unsuccessful:
1) I saw that the AVI file reference is really just a strictly typed datalog file reference (with datatype int32), but trying to typecaste it to a datalog reference and checking that reference for validity did not work.
2) You can typecaste the AVI file ref to an int32 that produces the same number as the probe of the reference, but this number stays the same whether the AVI reference is open or closed, so it does not help
3) I tried to use the "IMAQ AVI Get Info" subVI so that I can trap an error and determine if the reference was valid, but this only works for read sessions of the AVI file reference (i.e., created with "IMAQ AVI Open"). A reference created by "IMAQ AVI Create" is a write session, and cannot be checked this way.
It seems like this should have already been implemented, but I guess LabVIEW treats the AVI file refernce quite uniquely. Many of the primitives that work on references do not work on this datatype. Is there any way to reproduce the functionality of "Not a NaN/Path/Ref?" for an AVI file reference?

I thank you for the idea, but I'm afraid it does not work as I wanted. The attached image shows 3 examples illustrating my point.
In the first example (untitled1), "IMAQ AVI Create" is used, and both probes remain false.
In the second example (untitled2), "IMAQ AVI Open" is used, and both probes remain false.
In the third example (untitled3), "Open\Create\Replace File" is used, and the "Not A Reference" primitive is false for probe1 and true for probe2. Note: if I use the "equal to Not A Ref" method for the third example (like for the first two examples), I get both probes remaining false as well.
I'm looking for a way to replicate the behavior of the third example for AVI file references.

Cost Center / Profit Center -- Validation for Plant Address Change

Hi There - One of our team [PTP] have a updated St'Adress for a Plant. From FI, is there something needs to be validated? and How do i find cost center/profit center related to that plant. I belive there is no assignment of those to plants?

no, the "accounting" object that can be related to the plant is the valuation area, but it is updated automatically.

Only one internal order allowed for Cost center/GL combination -validation

Dear Friends,
We are using internal orders for controlling department wise budgets.
my client wants that he be able to post only through one GL account to one internal order
that is for Marketing dept,(departments are created as cost centers)
Canteen exp              internal order 1000
Entertainment exp     internal order 1001
Gift exp                     Internal order 1002
that is when GL account canteen exp is used (for cost center 1000 (marketing)) then internal order 1000 can be used but if entertainment exp is to be booked internal order 1000 cannot be used. in this case only internal order 1001 should be allowed
We are using real internal order (settlement will happen at end of month)
Can you let me know if this is possible in standard SAP or any workaround.

If internal order must be filled in these GL then you can meet your requirement by creating the validation. To meet this requirement three steps are to be created in one validation. One step is created below to make you create two more steps by your self.
Create validation under Financial Accounting Line Item using transaction GGB0.
Step 1.
Prerequisites. (Go to settings>Expert mode and fill following)
BSEG-BUKRS = '1000' AND (here instead of 1000 you enter your company code)
BSEG-HKONT = '450000'      (here instead of 450000 you enter GL for canteen expense)
Check
BSEG-AUFNR = '1000'
Message
Click on pencil icon and create below message or the message you want.
Intenal Order 1000 is allowed for canteen expenses.
Assign this validation to your company code using transaction OB28 with call up point 2.
Similarly you can create two more steps. Thus your requirement can be met.

Validating reference to remote bean

Hi,
I am writing a servlet filter, accessing a stateless session bean. The filter uses the bean to log requests.
The problem I have is that for performance I do not wish to newly lookup the home object of the bean and reinstantiate a bean upon every request or even upon each access to the bean. I want to do it upon initialization or lazy upon first request and then use the reference during subsequent requests.
However if someone redeploys the bean (which is probably more likely during development than during production use, still it is possible in both cases) the reference that my filter holds becomes invalid.
As I would consider it pretty ugly to surround each call to the bean with a try-catch block to check whether the bean is still there, I am searching for a way to find out whether the reference I have access to still points to a valid instance.
Something myLoggerBean.stillthere(), which lets me create a new one in case someone redeployed the bean.
Any chance of doing that or will I have to stick with my exception handling like:

} catch(RuntimeException e)
myLoggerBean = getNewLoggerBean();

Apparently what you are proposing and what I already almost implemented is the only way to do it. Right now I have a problem using a JBoss Bug. The reinstantiation of the bean fails after the redeployment of the bean. However this is due to the fact that the filter and the bean are in separate packages (filter is in axis.war, bean is in separate jar - file). Others have had that problem with JBoss, even though remote interface was used not local. So I will probably have to move them into one ear and then things will work.
Unfortunately we do need to log using such a heavy weight solution. Of course this is not used for all simple log output of the software. We do use Log4J for that, this solution is only for request and response SOAP.
We are creating a life science software which needs to record the webservice requests arriving at our replication. This is so that at a later point in time we can perfectly reconstruct what requests arrived and what responses were send out, in case someone blaims us to have caused harm by wrong results.

Keynote not opening file. I've opened it many times, but now it says "because it isn't a valid Keynote document."

I have spent months working on this file and it is a very extensive project. I can't possibly redo it, so I really need some help with this. I have to be able to open this file. I've even transferred it to other drives, but it's the same error message.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks in advanced!

I have encountered something similar and trying to remember how I resolved it.
It may go back to file typing or OSX's privileges, or they may simply be corrupted.
In the 1st 2 cases, you can try changing the file type away from whatever it is and then try to match it against the files that actually open. FileBuddy is a good utility for this.
OSX's permissions are positively screwy sometimes. I have had read/write access set in the information and it still won't let me edit or open files, usually after a clean and/or change of User it straightens itself out.
Try repairing permissions in DiskUtility, and run DiskWarrior and TechTools Pro over your harddrive. This unfortunately takes time.
This is definitely the least favorite part of OSX's UNIX for me.
If they are corrupted nothing much you can do except take preventative measures against this next time. Get yourself a dual drive RAID harddrive like Western Digitals MyBook Pro and use OSX's TimeMachine.
I am sceptical about TimeMachine but I guess it can't hurt to try it.

While trying to install Firefox I keep getting the error that it isn't a valid win32 application.

I used the control panel, add and install programs to uninstall the version of Firefox that I was running, 8 I think. Sure that I could just easily download a new one and start fresh.

I think DATE_RANGE_PAN is not table. Make sure its a table. If issue persist, post the data type declaration here.
