Cost of borrowing money

I have a requirement from a customer of mine.
In my pricing procedure (sales) I want to add a contition type. This condition type will add to the final price of the product an amount which will be the cost of the customer to borrow money. In other words since my customer pays the vendor in 4 months and his customer will pay him in 12 months there will be a cost of borrowing money for this 8 months gap. Since the percentage of the loans are predifined the condition type will count the money that have to be paid to the bank.
Therefore I need a condition that will have a formula as well as I have to give to the system the information of the months that the customers will pay the vendor and the months that he will be paid by his customer.
Can this be impplemented? If yes can you give me some hints to begin.

Let's suggest that the interest of borrowing money is 10% per year.
My customer will pay his vendor in 4 months whereas he will be paid for the same sale in 12 months. Therefore there is a gap of 8 months. In order to fullfill the required sale he will borrow money from the bank for these 8 months. Therefore the interest will be (8/12)* 10% = approximately 6,66%
If the total amount of the sale is 10.000 Euros he will pay to the bank 666Euros for interest
These 666Euros should be calculated in SAP by a formula and should be added to the total amount making the final amount 10.666Euros.

Taking iMac to Apple Store to Be Looked At, Will it Cost Me Money?

I'm taking my 1st Gen, 24" iMac to my local Apple Store on Saturday (already have an appointment) because its starting to exhibit some weird graphical issues (http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8677052#8677052), but thats not what I wanted to ask about. It isn't in warranty anymore and I didn't buy the extended Applecare (big mistake) so what I wanted to know is, will it cost me any money upfront just to have the Genius examine my iMac. I know that the graphics card at least needs to be replaced, possible the logic board but I would like to know if I'm gonna need to shell out some cash upfront just to confirm my theories.

(Self-)signing a MIDlet for use on ~10 phones without spending money

Hello everyone,
I just spend like 4 hours researching how to sign MIDlet and I am totally confused.
Instead of asking for general instructions I am going to explain what I want to do. Hopefully that will enable people to tell me whether or not this is possible and what steps I should take.
What I want to do:
* I have a MIDlet (JAR+JAD pair), written for J2ME CLDC 1.1/MIDP 2.0
* This program needs to read and write files, as well as access GPS (using the Location API). I have specified the needed permissions in the JAD file (MIDlet-Permissions and MIDlet-Permissions-Opt)
* The end goal is to be able to run this program on a limited number (<=10) of phones. All phones are Nokia handsets running S60 3rd Ed. FP1/2. They are owned by my organisation so the IMEI numbers are known
* And now for the important thing: the program should not throw runtime warnings when files are accessed or the location API is used
* Because this is an entirely non-commercial thing the whole process should not cost me any money
So far I've been testing this application on a single Nokia N95-2 (8GB). Because the MIDlet is unsigned (or at least I believe that is why) it throws lots of runtime warnings (concerning file access and location access, eg: "Allow application X to read user data?" YES/NO). So this is exactly what I need to avoid when deploying this program on the ~10 other phones.
I understand that it is most likely impossible to achieve this with a single "signed" file that can be deployed on all 10 phones. However, supposing there is some free(!) "(self-)signing" procedure that produces a MIDlet that will work without the runtime warnings on a specific phone (identified by IMEI#), I am perfectly willing to go through this procedure for every phone/IMEI involved.
So is this possible? And if so, what are the steps I should take. Please give me as much info as possible. I've been googling for hours and I ave yet to find a decent explanation for a scenario like this.

It is my understanding (from posts on other forums) that the procedure explained on that webpage ( [http://browndrf.blogspot.com|http://browndrf.blogspot.com] ) only works/worked on Nokia S60 2nd edition devices, due to a bug (or feature?) in Nokia's MIDP implementation. In the 3rd edition of the S60 platform this bug was fixed so the procedure no longer works.
As for my own project, we bit the bullet and got ourselves a Verisign certificate after all (for a whooping $500). So the problem is solved, although it wasn't exactly cheap.

How much do engineer call-outs cost BT?

I'm curious as my internet is being less than useless yet again, I spend more time tethered to my mobile than using our BT internet connection.
I've had engineers out 5 times since last year. I figure I am now going to let nothing slide, I'll contact BT and demand an engineer visit every time I have a problem, it's always an issue their end sure our line is long but they keep fixing it half arsed and lowering my speed.
I'm confident I'll cost BT more money in engineer wages than they cost me for their poor service.

I am going to assume that you have an ADSL connection. There is a special board for this type of connection, now that you have actually stated what the problem is.
I will move this thread to that board, where you should get advice.

I would also suggest, that as it disconnects at the same time each day, the problem is nothing to do with your BT line, and could simply be local interference, and you could be charged for a callout.

I believe it means if you were getting a promotional rate of 1/2 off an HBO/Cinemax package it would continue although you were only getting charged for HBO. Of course my experience was not as described above. When I noticed the change on my bill today I called FIOS and learned that Cinemax was now included in my highest tier TV package. I would only be charged for HBO - HOWEVER the CSR could not apply a 1/2 discount to HBO. So now I pay more for HBO alone then I did for HBO/Cinemax together - $16.99 vs $12.50 (with the credit). I just canceled HBO today.

Like most people on this board I was very excited when shown the new iMovie 08 online, but soon found out how lacking it was. All it really needs are some hefty updates.
But I was wandering... I have yet to buy iLife 08 because of the issues with iMovie... If I bought it now and apple came out with an update (which they desperately need to) would it cost me more money???

You have to differenciate the proejct budget from the project cost:
The project budget is the amount of money which has been allocated to your project by the executive board based on the estimation you provided. This is not meant to be changed unless you go through a change request process, justifying why you need to change
(increase) the budget, meaning asking more money. Consequently it will not be related in MS Project with the tasks, assignments. It is entered on the project summary and can be meanly used in portfolio reports where you can consolidate yours budgets (you can
have several different budgets) among a set of projects.
The project cost is something which lives, changes along the project lifecycle. It is meant to be updated on a weekly or biweekly basis from the team members tasks updates approved by the project manager. Then the PM updates the remaining work thus the project

For example here travel budget cost is 2500 whereas planned cost is 3700. Planned cost of travel expense is created by the project manager. Who does define travel budget cost?

Data backup and migration to identical Mac

Hi everyone,
I've had my new Macbook Pro for a couple of weeks, but because the lid doesn't close properly I have to send it back to the Apple Store for a replacement now. Apple obviously cannot take care of the data migration so I have to do it myself.
What migration strategy would you suggest and what software would you use? Is there a simple way to clone my HD? The new MBP will be the same spec as the old. Unfortunately, I think I won't have the two MBPs available at the same time, so directly transferring from old to new is not an option. I have several Linux/Windows PCs and file servers (SMB) available at work, which could serve as "storage media". I might also be able to borrow a Firewire drive from a colleague.

If you simply want to archive data, you can use any drive, partitioned or not. But if you want a "full system" backup, your "best bet" would be a bootable clone. You can use "Carbon Copy Cloner" which is "donation ware" so that would not cost you any money but that still leaves you with the problem of needing a free partition somewhere. So my question would be how much data is on your friend's FW drive? Could you copy that data to optical media, use the FW drive to clone your drive, and afterwards, erase the drive and copy the data from the optical disks back on to it?. That might be a "cumbersome" way to go but it would only set you back the price of a few optical disks....

Starting MBA in a few weeks, now what?

I have no idea where to start in regards to student loans. As a college student, I went to a state school and was able to work and pay it all off as I was attending. Now, I do not know where to go for help with my $88,000+ upcoming tuition for USC. What are the best rates? Where should I be looking? Mulitiple loans? Private or federal?
Any advice and help would be great. Thank you!

Or is the job market tough and you'd want to get an MA to be more competitive, So those are the options for funding your MBA: (1) borrow money with consequences (2) go to a cheaper school -- I did, and I did okay (3) don't go (4) find a job that'll pay for it and defer enrollment for a year until you do I would love to find a position that pays into my tuition. Once I figure out the time commitment needed for school, I will definitely be looking for an analyst position like the one I am in now closer to school. Hopefully it all works out... Frozen on Start Up Screen - Please Help (Urgent)

I've had my mac Mini for a little over a year now and have not once had a problem with it. When I came home from work yesterday there had been a powercut and naturally my mac mini had switched off. When i tried to turn it back on it made the chime and went into the start up screen (with the mac logo and the little spinning thing) i was waiting half an hour for it to get off this screen but it did not. When i restarteed the computer i had the same problem, i left it on over night to see if it was just going to take time to load but by this morning nothing had changed (same loading screen on moniter).
I Have tried to reset the PMU (or whatever its called) and i still have the same probelm.
Help desperatly needed as the computer has two years worth of school work and writing on it not to mention music and movies than ive made for my uni course!

OK, so it looks like when the mini crashed, it ended up corrupting the drive directory structure - possibly it was in the middle of a write operation when the power failed.
The good news is that rarely does this cause a hardware fault, so there is like as not, nothing wrong with the system that can't be fixed.
However, the bad news is that without a disk recovery utility, such as DiskWarrior or Tech Tools Pro, neither of which are absolutely certain to work) the only way to get the system back under normal control is to reformat the drive, since this will rewrite the directory structure. And of course reformatting will loose your data. In this situation, simply trying to reinstall MacOS won't work since the system has errors on the drive that will prevent data being safely written. Also, any and all disk write activity risks overwriting your data since the faults generally will indicate that MacOS won't know for sure where your data is, thus make it possible to write over the top of it.
Since iTunes won't allow you to download again, and it appears you don't have any backups, I think you have few options to consider:
1 - buy a copy of DiskWarrior or Tech Tools Pro and try and recover the drive that way. The disadvantages are that this will cost you some money, and there's no certainty it will work, but if it does, the advantage is that you could restore your drive (and thus system) to full operational status with little effort.
2 - get hold of (meaning buy or borrow from someone else) an external firewire drive onto which you can install a copy of MacOS with which to boot your system. Once booted, then use the drive to copy off your files, then once backed up, do an Erase and Install using your original install disk to reformat the hard drive and put back a working copy of MacOS. Once done, you can then copy your files back from the external hard drive.
3 - if you have another Mac available to you, connect your mini to it with a firewire cable and start it up holding the T key to put it into firewire target disk mode. It should then appear on the other Mac's desktop as an external drive and thus allow you to access your files and back them up.
Beware however that if the directory structure on the mini's hard drive is messed up, there is no certainty that you can recover all your data since the data may not be entirely intact, or indeed, in the locations the directory structure tells the system it is in. As a result, the best option from the 3 above is the first - to try and repair the directory using one of those two utilities.

Connecting an Xbox using the DVI to Video adapter to a Display

I have a second display (Vision 17'' TFT LCD Display) and I love using it with my Power Book using the DVI out. I also have a PC that shares this display through a VGA input port also on the display. Anyways, I want to use the display for my Xbox which has the three component cables. To do this, I was planning on using the "Apple DVI to Video Adapter" but Is this possible? I know it works if the signal is going out the DVI port to an external display but does it work in reverse? In theory I would have the Yellow video cable going to the adapter and the two audio cables going to a "Y" stereo mini cable into the audio in port on the monitor. Possible? Other ideas? Thanks.

no, it won't work. the adapter does not transcode any video signal, it simply connects the appropriate breakout to the analog lines that are already present on the Mac's DVI output, as per the DVI-* spec. unfortunately, it will not work in reverse.
someone at Microsoft has claimed that the 360 does support HDMI and DVI, but the cable is simply not available yet. I find this comment somewhat suspicious, because the demand IS there already, and there is a HUGE base of people waiting for this.
MS does support VGA output now, so you could use a 2x1 VGA switcher to share the VGA input between the PC and 360. I would also get a KVM that supports audio. there are lots of options out there and they do not cost too much money. Y'ing the input on audio is not a great idea, because depending upon the impedence of the ins/outs, you might get a gain/distortion/bleed issue.
