From the main screen for the webspace, on the right hand side click "Manage My Personal Web Site". Then click on "Add More Personal Web Space". That will bring you to this screen.

FastTrack is available for free. There isn't currently a FastTrack version of 6.0, however. The latest FastTrack version is 4.1.

Front Page Extensions on Verizon Web Space

I want to move an MS FrontPage web from a Comcast server over to the allocated Verizon Web Space. I have "published" the site to disk and simply need to log in to the Verizon server using FrontPage software. However I have been unable to contact the right person to have FrontPage extensions enabled on Verizon. Is this possible, or am I "outtaluck"?

You are in the out of luck category. Verizon effectively elminated personal web space for most uses last August when they ended FTP service, and forced all new and updated web work to be done by something called SiteBuilder. There is no support for r Front Page and FTP no longer exists for personal web space. .
I will refrain from using the descriptions that many have for SiteBuilder. The 10mb Verizon Personal Web spae has become a very bad joke for many of us.
Realistically if you want to have anything even vaguely resembling a real web site, you need to host it somewhere else, on either a paid host like GoDaddy, or one of the many 'free' web hosting sites.

Any way we can force Comcast to -NOT- remove our personal web pages?

If we filed a Class Action Lawsuit, then Comcast would be like, "Aw, they're so cute. Hey Bob, come take a look at this. Isn't that just about the most adorable thing you've ever seen?" Then Bob would call in the rest of the employees, "Hey guys! You gotta see this! LOL" Then you'd hear a collective, "Aawwww... " and someone might be like, "not even my own baby is that cute!" We're like a tiny insignificant little bug that is no more important than a speck of dust. We practically don't even really exist. If 500 people suddenly cancelled their subscription over this, then Comcast would be like, "LOL Oh noes! hahahahaha So anyway...." That's pretty much how it is. They are just that big. They don't care, and they never will.

Once again I would like to thank COMCAST for being cheap and money hungry. I use my personal web pages daily. This will create a lot of work and take a lot of time to move thing to another server that I will have to pay for on top of paying for internet service with COMCAST. Way to go. Yep. I'm extremely angry about this! I have been using the web space for years in order to upload helpful files to other people on Overclock.net such as screenshots, important setup files, important Windows files that someone might have lost, zip files containing a bunch of files that someone desperately needs, etc. etc. etc. That's years of uploading, and so it's years of files! Now that's being stripped away from me. Why? This is 2015, not 1985. It's not hard to provide storage space these days. Good lord. Comcast, are you really hurting for storage space on your servers? You have stolen our money for years, so the least you can do is let us keep our web spaces. I have created 7 different accounts on my Comcast account so that I could have 7 GB of storage space, which I have used quite well over the years. So now I have to sit here downloading ALL OF MY FREAKIN' FILES, and then I have to take them to some other location! Then, I have to go and update hundreds of links on Overclock.net and hundreds of screenshots in hundreds of posts that act as ARTICLES - not just posts. If I don't do that, then I'll have people asking me every single day why my links are broken and why my screenshots aren't showing up. Comcast, you sure know how DISSATISFY your customers I hate you now. I genuinely do. You have ruined my day, Comcast. I was actually having a good day for once, until you sent out the e-mail telling all of us about this.

Pixelpost and Personal Web Sharing in Tiger

Dear Friends:
I figured out how to install Pixelpost (for a photoblog) in my OS X Tiger system -- by using MAMP. I changed the Document Root in MAMP so that now it looks to the Personal Web Sharing folder in the Mac (the Sites folder in the /usr/ space). The installation of Pixelpost works fine, letting me add images, manage it, etc. However, when I type in the computer address ("personal website") as provided in the Sharing tab under system preferences, it does not bring me at all to the photoblog. For instance:
http://my.computer.address/ (just brings me to the regular Apache Server notice that it is running)
if I type this:
http://my.computer.address/~username/
It brings me to the generic OS X page in place. But when I type:
http://my.computer.address/~username/pixelpost/
it opens to the pixelpost directory which I placed in the Sites folder. What I'd like to do is figure out what address will call up this blog so that others can access it.
The blog comes up fine under this URL:
http://localhost:8888/pixelpost/
But that's not a proper address for external viewing. So, what address should I provide others? I've tried various configurations with the address provided in the Sharing tab of System Preferences, but no luck so far.

I think you mean /Users/ space. /usr is something completely different.
http://my.computer.address/ (just brings me to the regular Apache Server notice that it is running)
Then it means you didn't change the DocumentRoot like you think you did. If you did, and assuming you restarted Apache after changing the DocumentRoot, then this URL would point to whatever directory you specified (/Users/whoever/Sites) and not /Library/WebServer/Documents.
But [http://localhost:8888/pixelpost> is not a proper address for external viewing.
but it can be. If all you're using this for is PixelPost then just setup the port forwarding on your router to forward to port 8888 rather than port 80 and you're done.
Now, that said, the fact that you're using two different ports here (port 80 and port 8888) means that, at the very least, you are running two virtual hosts, or quite possibly two completely separate Apache instances.
That could explain why changing the DocumentRoot doesn't help. You may have changed either the PixelPost VirtualHost configuration, or the MAMP-specific server configuration, but that's not the server/virtualhost you're talking to on port 80.
I've never used MAMP, so I don't know how it installs, but it wouldn't surprise me to find that it installs a whole new Apache distribution and you'd need to find that server and its configuration files to fix the DocumentRoot problem, if that's the way you want to go.
You can also fix it via a simple Alias in the standard Apache configuration - just alias /pixelpost to /Users/whoever/sites/pixelpost - that way users who hit /pixelpost on your server will get the User-specific directory, while all other URLs continue to be served via /Library/WebServer/Documents. This might improve security and avoid the possibility of leaking other content from your home directory that you don't want to make available.

Problem w/ Flash page in Yahoo web space

I have recently designed a simple web page in Dreamweaver for
a person which contains a simple flash intro. Everything runs
smoothly on my web space. When I fetched my files to their Yahoo!
web space, the flash no longer exists on the page. It is still in
the code, and should automatically play, but it is not there, no
icon, no movement, nothing. I double-checked and all of my files
are uploaded. Can someone give me some suggestions or is this a
limitation of Yahoo's services?

End of personal web pages

I have been a Comcast customer for decades. And I have used personal web pages most of that time. It has ALWAYS been part of the featires in the contract. But now you blood-sucking beggers are screwing your customer once again taking away a feature that we have assumed was a part of the basic agreement. SHAME ON YOU!!

Bellsouth Personal Web Pages

Hi all,
I played with iWeb for the first time last week when I had some time off work. I do not have .mac so I have to publish via FTP, which is acceptable, although admittedly it would be nice if Apple included built-in publishing to other than .mac sites.
I published a photo page to my church web site (I am the webmaster) with no problem, and everyone is impressed. I created a quick test personal web site with several pages and published to my Bellsouth personal web pages (I am a Bellsouth DSL customer). Via the FTP client (PW FTP X), everything appears to be there with the correct folder structure, but when I browse to any page, all I get is a blank white screen. Just for a test I tried publishing the exact same personal site and pages to my AOL Members Web Space (we use AOL for Email) also using PW FTP X and once I got it all up there (a chore in itself on a Mac) everything worked beautifully. Anyone know what gives with Bellsouth? I have had an Email request in to their tech support for a few days, but have not heard anything back. I would really rather use Bellsouth for my personal site since AOL doesn't fully support FTP from a Mac.

Actually, even the Fetch documentation highlights the problems with AOL in that you either have to use Dial-up or OS9 to FTP to their space. See:

There is a better workaround but it involves reconfiguring your network connections via UNIX terminal commands, which is what I did. See:

It seems to me it would be possible to taylor an FTP client (or even iWeb itself!) to handle the above for AOL.
I will give some thought to listing my URL(s), although I'm not thrilled with the idea of publicly identifying my personal family web space here. I just thought somebody who had dealt with Bellsouth might know of an answer. I have noted that iWeb does generate Java scripts, but Bellsouth's on-line documentation says Java scripts are supported.

@TwoCables et al Thank you for that information TwoCables, I didn't even notice it until you told me. We can certainly keep our fingers crossed! I apologize to everyone if I was mistaken about our email space allotment, I was going from a post by user madylarian who is normally quite accurate in respoinses.. Here's the thread that I got that figure from. I also thought that I recently read that on a Comcast or Xfinity site recently. Additionally an Internet search shows many links stating 10GB. Now I'm not sure! Darn it all anyway! Early morning tomorrow so I'm off to bed. Here's to wishing a pleasant evening to everyone!

Extra pixel of space

Good afternoon all,
Im working on a new design which Im having a bit of problem
with an extra
pixel of space showing between the bottom of the main images
and the white
bottom border. This is only happening in IE (7) so far, it
doesnt do it in
FF.
Ive been searching for the answer for a while, but I give up
- does anyone
have the time to look for me and see if they can shed some
light.

I removed the extra spacing in the code, but alas, it stays
the same.
Ill keep searching and see if anything comes to light,
otherewise, Ill have
to rethink how Ive done the layout, as the owners of this
site are picky,
picky, picky and probably using IE7.
I think Ill try adding the white border to the bottom of the
middle section
instead of top of bottom section and see if that works.

Is there an FAQ or step by step tutorial for personal web sharing?

First off, if anyone knows of an FAQ somewhere that answers this question, post me the link.
Am trying to build a comon web page for synching iCal on a stans alone machine and am sure this is a very common question from new iCal users like myself:
Situation:
-Multiple users on same iMac
-Different accounts Mom, Dad, Kids, Nanny
-Need to collaborate schedules
Want to create a webpage on my machine (without .mac) where we can publish calendars.
Tried turning on personal web sharing in the system preferences but the addresses listed only show a page listed as "Access Forbidden."
Is there a step by step tutorial out there? I could really use one.

I guess the real answer for me the very novice and deliberatly blissfull user is: No.
I switched to Mac after assembling my own PCs to try and get then to do what I wanted. The driver/dll/ini issues were maddening!!!
Am not tech-phobic, but am loathe to start working in the terminal and with code since I know so little and it was that commercial that said "I got tired of being my own tech dept." that made me switch.
Looked at the tutorials and there are always comments underneath with comments about how there is a typo here, mispelling, there, better code over yander etc. linux/apache/unit/windows flame wars etc.
All I want it to do is work or not. Since it is not; will find another way.
Between purusing sites I think I came up with a simple low tech solution.
In the shared folder create an iCal_Shared folder. From one user export a calendar complete with a date. For example Dad's work as of 15 JAN. Then in the duaghter's calendar import the same calendar. Knowing that as changes are made by me, I will have to update the exported file, and my daughter will have to be aware of the as of dates.
A lot of solutions out there are for the corporate world. Am happy to Apple gaining market share but I am on a stand alone machine.
The iPhoto manager is a great product from a third party and was happy to pay for it. Saves me a lot of time with 20K+ pictures.
Just want an app causing iCal to behave simply, ie my daughter and I could share calendar information on our machine without running WebDAV server, a three tiered digital satelite hookup, etc,
Pie Argh Squarred..It seems to me that Apple woule be better off if they came up with solutions like that that cost $20 since they would reach a lot more people than they are now with the $100 annual .mac extortion fee.
Kudos to those of you who are much smarter and braver than I and again I thank you for your posts as they have opened my eyes as to just how old I am getting! Perhaps my daughter should solve this one for me!

Personal Web Sharing - Setting up an OS X Server

A question regarding personal web sharing. I am trying to turn my sister's old slot loading iMac into a web server. I wiped the machine and installed a clean copy of OS X 10.2 and then performed all available software updates. I have the site loaded in the web server folder in the main library.
The problem is getting the site to load on computers outside of my local network. I configured my router to send traffic on port 80 to my server computer. The firewall on the server computer is open on port 80 (PWS).
I can access my website from all the computers on my network, but not from any computer outside of it. I try entering the IP address that this website(http://www.whatismyip.com/) gives to me, but it just says that the server couldn't be found.
Any suggestions? All help is tremendously appreciated.

well if it is the case that your isp is blocking the ports then the only way around is to get another isp... or to hack thier router that you sit behind The former is probably the better idea haha.
Also it may be that your isp offers you server space with your internet service - many do... it usually isnt much but it might work for you. Also most have service upgrades you could chose to do which would mostlikely give you the port access you need and possibly a static ip address. However these are likely to be geared towards small business so your internet service would most likely double in price. And ofcourse you could get a hosting account. IF its not for a professional site there are alot out there that you can get for as little as 3 bucks a month....
In regard to what BD said above... you can check out all the rules in the firewall and make sure theres nothing funy in there somehow by using this command in the terminal:
sudo ipfw show
that will print a list of rules in the firewalll

Personal Web Sharing trouble with moved / Users ?

Can Personal Web Sharing work when /Users has been moved to another partition? Situation: Apache is running on my Mac OS 10.4.10 system. It will serve my files to a distant computer if I put symlinks to them in /Library/WebServer/Documents (and Personal Web Sharing is on). However, it won't serve the same files from http://my.machine.com/~username -- Console reveals code 301 on attempts these attempts. (Interestingly, nothing appears in Console access_log if Personal Web Sharing is off during an attempt at http://my.machine.com/~username.) All of these makes me guess that Apache is basically OK, that System Preferences Personal Web Sharing knows where to find my personal Sites, but there is some problem when Apache goes for my user directory. Any suggestions?

You need to figure out the full path to your directory on the other partition and add that the file for that user that's in /etc/httpd/users. So, open the Terminal application from your Utilities folder, type "cd", then a space, and drag the "Sites" folder from your home folder to the Terminal window. That'll give you the full path to that file.
Edit your user's config file (you'll need to use sudo) with a text editor like nano:
<pre class="command">sudo nano /etc/httpd/users/username.conf</pre>
Look for this line:
<pre class="command"><Directory "/Users/username/Sites/"></pre>
Change it to reflect the path you saw in the Terminal window. If the partition name has a space in it, be careful, Terminal will escape it:
<pre class="command">/Volumes/Volume\ Name/username/Sites</pre>
But since it's enclosed in quotes in the Apache config file, you'll want to dump the escape:
<pre class="command"><Directory "/Volumes/Volume Name/username/Sites/"></pre>
Don't forget to restart the web server.
