Cost of iMac HD Replacement
I think my HD is fried. I do not have apple care, does anyone know the cost of new HD and labor at the Apple store/Genius bar?
Found a reputable apple repair shop about 10 minutes from my house. They are charging $85.00 for the labor. I found a 500gb WD internal eSata HDD from amazon for about $75.00 Thats a total of $160.00. Apple store wanted to change $350.00 at least and that was for a 250gb HDD. They really are a ripoff. I hope this info helps.

I just purchased a new iMac to replace our older one. We are giving our older one to parents and want to wipe the HD. The discs I have for my old iMac is for version 10.5 but I'm currently running 10.6.8. Is there a way to wipe the HD and keep 10.6.8?

Has anyone else had an iPhone 5 that's only been dropped once accidentally and smashed the screen? Mine has done that and as I don't have mobile insurance it'll cost a fortune to replace it through Apple!! I don't think the phone is fit for purpose as any other phone i've had has been dropped and been fine and surely they expect a mobile to be accidentally dropped at least once!!

If you dropped it on concrete- that is the hardest material and chance of damage goes up tremedously. Actually you are fortunate not to have mobile insurance because then you have to trust your insurance provider to provide you with a quality replacement or repair.
Apple is always spot-on you know what you're getting. They can always attempt to replace JUST the display on an iPhone 5 for $149 + tax is what I've heard them quote others. But they said it's $229 to replace your phone with another whole new iPhone 5. Get the AppleCare+ because two of these incidents will only cost you $49 + tax in the future! -

Why in the world does it cost sooo much to replace the logic board for your macbook pro.
As if apple hasn't made enough money to allow some people to save some money..Do you think Apple should reward your clumsiness or lack of caution by giving you a logic board for free, or at cost? Come to think of it, shouldn't they just give you a free new computer, and be grateful to you for taking it off their hands?
