Product Costing in SAP Retail Solution

Hi experts
I have a question about product costing in SAP Retail (SAP ECC 6.0).
In material master data (Tr. MM43 - Tr. MM42) Product Costing view for Logistics:CD sheet is activated.
Although, for Logistics:Store sheet is not activated.
In customizing, we have tried to activate the Product Costing view for Logistics:Store sheet, but there no standard dynpro to use it. So, we have some doubts:
- Do we have to create customer (Z) dynpros in order to activate Product Costing view for Logistics:Store sheet?
- Does SAP allows Product Costing functionality in SAP Retail solution?
If both answers are YES, i have another doubt:
- In our business scenario, the store is supplied by the Distribution Center. So, does it make sense to run product costing for
a articles in a Store?
We think it makes sense to apply product costing functionality in Distribution center. In order to analyze deviations from
Standard costs to real costs. But we are not sure about Stores.
Does anyone have experience in customizing product costing functionality for a SAP retail in a Logistics:Store?

Product hierarchy in R3 is termed as Merchandise category hierarchy in SAP IS retail
But in R3 Product hierarchy is not used much but Merchandise category hierarchy that is termed as MCH is a basic thing reqd for defining master data that is article master data which is nothing but material master in R3
As i said Product hierarchy levels are available in R3 also but not much used
Merchandise category hierarchy levels is most commonly used in SAP IS retail
What we call material group in R3 is same as Merchandise category in SAP IS retail and material in R3 is article in Retail
Merchandise category hierarchy levels
Say a Retail mall has merchandise items
Under merchandise there are 2 divisions Food and non food
Under nonfood say there are 2 divisions say hardware and apparel
Under apparel there 2 divisions say Mens wear and ladies wear
Under mens wear you have t shirts,shirts and pants etc
Here t shirts,shirts and pants etc are individual articles
Menswear and ladies wear are material groups
Hardware and apparel are merchandise hierarchy level 1
Food and non food merchandise hierarchy level 2
Retail mall is merchandise hierarchy level 3
like that hierarchy levels are commonly defined and used as a must to have efficient master data in SAP retail and the maximum no of hierarchy to have ideally is 6 apart from Merchandise category
In our example we have defined three levels
The same functionality can be used as product hierarchy in R3 also but doesnt been put in to use much
In Retail the no of articles a store is going to manage to be will be huge hence this sort of seggregation is needed there must

Dear experts,
i have installed a SAP ECC 6.0 IDES on a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise 64 bits + MS SQL from the MarketPlace:

-> Installations and Upgrades
-> My Company's Application Components
-> SAP ERP
-> SAP ERP 6.0
-> IDES-Version
-> Windows Server
-> Microsoft SQL-Server
and in order to update my solution into EHP3, i need to update the Kernel witch is in 7.00 version.
How and Where could i get the kernel update file?
Is there any difference between SAP Netweaver and SAP ERP Installation?

The kernel is at a differnt location. Please go to:
1. http://service.sap.com/swdc
2. Download
3. Support Packages and Patches
4. Entry by Application Group
5. Additional Components
6. SAP Kernel
Select the corresponding platform.
You should download 2 kernel files: SAPEXE and SAPEXEDB. One is database independent, one is DB dependent. Unpack them to the kernel directory and the kernel then is upgraded.

SAP ECC 6.0 IDES connectivity with internal BI server

Hell All,
We have a connectivity issue for SAP BI with ECC. we have a sap ECC6.0 EHP3 instance running in the customer landscape used for training requirement. In the ECC 6.0 we do also have SAP BI server in the same instance. Now customer want to use the same BI server which is in the same SAP ECC 6.0 IDES without installing an additional instance just for training purpose. As a part of the acitivty we do need to know whether we can configure the BI to R/3 data extraction for this instance. ECC have 800 client and BI also works in the same 800 client. Can we configure the SAP ECC to BI source system configuration and do the R/3 to BW data extraction scenarios. also want to know whether we can do the Process chains and other stuff for training requirements.

Lots of variables... yearly licensing fees or full purchase, R/3 or complete NetWeaver suite, single user or multi-user, several levels of support or no support, implementation partner expenses, types of hardware, etc....
EDIT:
I just noticed you said "one software company". There are other options if you want to be a "partner". It is one thing to use the software to run your company, it is another if you want the software because your company wants to develop add-ons.

IDES Installation Master BS7i2010 1 of 3 . i am runnning setting now on xp for testing master installtion but it shows only software Life cycle option under Enhancement package 5 for sap ERP 6.0.

Yes, the installation options in the SAPInst screen depend on the Operating system being used. Win XP is not supported for central system installation and hence you do not see those options. Run the same SAPInst in Windows 2008(R2) you will get the installation options.

Setting Up SAP JVM in Eclipse IDE: JRE name is already in use

In documentation "Setting Up SAP JVM in Eclipse IDE" (https://help.hana.ondemand.com/help/frameset.htm?7613eaad711e1014839a8273b0e91070.html) a definition for a JRE must be added, although in step before that one a JRE has been created.
If one tries to really add another definition and chooses the directory C:\...\sapjvm-7.1.018-windows-x64\sapjvm_7, then the message comes up: "The JRE name is already in use".
Was the wrong directory choosen, is this action really needed, what please has to be done at this point during Getting Started?

The directory is correct. However, if you have already started Eclipse with that JRE, it is automatically added to the list of Installed JREs. Hence the "name already in use" message when you try to add it again manually. In short, you can safely skip this step now.

Hardware Spec for SAP ISU 6 + CRM IDES 7

What would be a recommended hardware spec required to run SAP ISU 6 + CRM IDES 7 with atmost 4-5 concurrent users?
I plan to implement it using CentOS & SAP MAXDB.

Hi,
As the concurrent users seem to be less, you only need to ensure disk space (for an ERP and CRM IDES you would need atleast 600-700GB) along with appropriate page file size of approx 120-140GB.
As for CPU/RAM: a 2 CPU/8Cores (Intel/AMD 2.08GHz) with 32GB RAM should do well enough.
However, if you plan to do the setup for productive environment please use the SAP Quick Sizer tool.

Actually costing is done for the Materials, BoM components and Operations occured in routing with direct and Indirect Labor costs (Labor Activity - Maintained in KP26).
First thing you need to maintain the cost (future) in standared Material Master data. Then you need to run CK11N to run the costing and CK24 to release the costing. Same way you need to cost for the header data you need to use in Production order.
Get your FI/MM help for period opening if you face any period posting error.
What affect does costing run has on it.
If Material/Assembly doesnt cost you cant able to receive the Material to the Inventory.
Check and revert back.

Better you cna contact to Siemens / Genovate or any SAP authorised training center. There you can get the details.the classroom trining is always going to be higher to e-learning.Classroom is going to touch you some around three lakhs indian rupees including your certification cost.

SAP BW 3.5 IDES packages, location and installation steps

Hi,
I am looking for SAP BW 3.5 IDES version to install it on Win 2003 Server with Oracle, please advice where I can find it on the market place site and the exact packages needed.
Also please provide the installation steps or link for the IDES version because the installation guides on the market place site do not seem to have these.
And if I have the R/3 4.7 EEC IDES version (SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE 47X200) installed on the my computer:
1) Shall I install BW on the same partition ?
2) Can I use the same Oracle database for BW that I am using for R/3 or I need a different one ?
3) If I need a different one, what are the extra steps needed to avoid any conflict with the R/3 Oracle Database ?

since when is windows xp a supported operating system for sap r/3, bw, netweaver or any of the sap server products?

ERP/SAP Testing Research topics, ideas or emerging areas

Hi All,
I am a Master's student (Software Engineering) and looking for a research paper topic that is related to ERP/SAP testing tools or methodologies. I have read few research papers on ERP testing but I am finding it difficult to come up with my own new idea on how to apply Software testing techniques on these complex/ huge systems. All I am looking for is a research idea or a topic which has not been explored in depth and which needs some further investigation.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

SAP Testing especially when it comes to automation, the stability of the system is tested in the form of Regression testing.
What you should do is to work with a Global rollout project having multiple country rollouts and conduct savings to the program from rollout to rollout. Focus can be on re-usability, time and cost savings. Align yourself with a SAP Service provider (like Accenture, TCS, IBM etc) or a Captive unit of a top fortune 1000 company (like Sony, Philips, Volvo, Bosch etc).
The tool composition can be Solution Manager, Test Workbench, TAO, QC, QTP, ECC, and other SAP Components like CRM etc.
The other area could be to take some critical and complex test scripts having something like 50-60 test steps having sub scripts with external interfaces etc, and then optimize the automation from what it seems to be as Manual testing to a simulated automation testing. You can take 1 such critical test script from each functional area and explore the optimization levels.
You must be skilled in these tools - Know the features and use of Solman, Test Workbench, QC, TAO, QTP and also eCATT. Or as the case may be for the particular project having SAP Automation agenda.
