Cost price calculation of raw material

I want to know how cost price of raw material is calculated in sap.  Is it when ever price changes we have to go to each material code and change the price  or we can have our own policy?

  • Moving average price calculation logic of material with Price Control "S"

    Dear Gurus,
As you know that there is a Moving price and standard price icon in the material master.
I want to understand the calculation logic of the moving average price of the materials having price control "S"
How the system calculates the MAP for standard price materials? The receipt from the process order I suppose is valuated at the process order cost after settlement, but if the issue has hapened for the material does the system recalculate the issue price also?
Below is the sample process order receipt and issue scenario:
    Receipt from process order 161000000223
300 kg and GR at standard cost value is Rs 5892
    Issue to process order 162000000294
250 kg and GI at standard cost value is Rs 4910.
Thus the balance at period end is 50 kg and balance at standard cost value is Rs 982.
Here in process order 161000000223 the actual cost is 10 Rs. Then how will the system calculate the MAP?
    Thanking You,

    Hi
    Try the following calculations,
One of them will work depending upon your version and support pack
Expected MAP calculation ( As with price control V)
    = ((Qty before transaction*MAP + Transaction Qty * transaction
    Price)) / quantity after transaction
New Method ( when price control is S)
= Old MAP + (Price Variance w.r.t Standard Price/Qty after transaction)

  • Simulate Price change in raw material

    Dear All.
How can I simulate the new cost of all my FERT materials, if we have a price increase in a RAW material that is used in almost all FERT's.
    please help.

    Hi,
create a costing variant using a valuation variant that valuates materials with priority 1 the new price from a "planned price field" in controlling 2 in material master (were you've maintained the new price for this specific material) and as priority 2 the price as in your old variant (for the materials where the price remains unchanged). Do not allow any price update for this costing variant to avoid erroneous use of this variant.
Create a plan cost estimate for the same (reference) material(s) with your old and the new costing varinat, compare the same.
Use report RKKBCAL2 do compare the results of 2 costing runs (again one with the old costing variant one with the new).
    best regards, Christian

  • Cost Price Calculation

    Hello Gurus,
How to calculate the cost price of an Article in Retail, how does the system calculate it?
I did try looking for SAP note for help. However I couldnu2019t find one. Would appreciate your responses.
Thank you for your time in advance.
    Regards,
    Gareth.

    Hi Gareth,
If by cost you mean the moving average price the system deos the calculation as mentioned below
MAP = (Current stock value + Receipted stock value) / (Current stock quantity + Receipted stock quantity).
For e.g. if you had 5 quantities of material X with unit price as $10 your current stock value is $50.
now if you take a GR 10 quantities of the same material wih unit price $15 your receipted stock value will be $150.
The MAP in this case will be: (50150) / (510) which is $13.33.

  • How to Control Finished Product Price based on Raw Material

    Hi Experts,
Our client manufactures Steel Products where basic Raw Material is Steel.
Customer will give annual contract/Sales Order on the rate prevailing on the contract date. But there is clause that if Steel prices increase / decrease by 5% then correspondingly Finished product price will change by 3%.
How can this be mapped in SAP where by based on Raw Material price, Finished product can vary?

  • Additive costs getting added to  raw material consumption account

    Hi,
when i run ck11n , the additive costs are getting added to raw material consumption account, how can i split them .please advice
    Thanks

Check the cost elements in OKTZ.
If there is any surcharge applicable on that material, we use CK74 to add "Additive Cost". When you run the CK11N, it shows separately in the last with separate cost element with values updated in CK74.
You might have assigned the Material consumption cost elemtn in CK74. Just check it
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • SFG cost same as the Raw Material price consumed

    Hi all,
Is it possible for us to have the SFG price same as the price we consume? Reason being is that they want to carry the same cost to the next stage, let say consumption cost is RM 500, the SFG produced need to be RM500. Say RM->SFG1->SFG2->FG, so SFG has to carry to actual cost consume and issue to SFG2 and SFG2 will consist of cost of SFG1 + RM.

    Hi,
What kind of Process is this ?MTO or ETO or MTS?
    Thanks,

    Hi Vinu,
Please take a look at the sap note 721360 which provides very helpful information about
    MAP-controlled materials and actual costing.
In addition take a look at the sap note 81682 and 689189 which are useful too.

  • Price list change according to raw material cost

    Dear Experts,
We are currently working in a client where for those products for which the raw material is the main component as the cost of the raw materials varies with a high frequency (daily or weekly) the list price (the price we want to invoice to customers) should be updated accordingly and automatically with a specific mark up.
Have you found a similar requirement in any client? If yes, could you explain us from a functional perspective how (SAP standard functionality or custom development with a detailed explanation of the solution) you solved this requirement?
Is there any procedure to do regular massive updates of Finished Good price lists based on the actual variation (and/or expected variation) of raw materials cost?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    M.Baig

    Hi Baig,
It is possible to determine the price based on the raw material cost. I dont know whether you are using Moving average price or standard price for the raw material cost.
Whatever be the  method, when you create the sales order, it is possible to take the raw material cost on the date of order creation using one of teh cost condition types like VPRS. You can use this condition type as statistical.
You can also have another condition type which is the mark up on this cost.
Now you can calculate your grossprice using another condition type which total up the cost in VPRS condition type adn the mark up %, either through just configuration or by means of a calculation type routine created in VOFM adn then assigning the same for the gross price condition type.
I you have any concerns, pls lemme know.

  • On costing run, Raw material price in Std price  field is getting updated

    Hi All
When i am executing costing run (CK40N) for a FG, the price field in Std price for a raw material is getting updated.
We are maintining price control as "V" in case of raw material.
Is this right? if not, how can this be avoided.
    Regards
    Rakesh Hase

    HI Ian,
Given enough time and money, anything is possible....
You do not say which industry you are operating in. In some SAP industry solutions the functionality you describe is available - if I remember correctly IS Mill Product has something like that. It is available for use by companies that for example make copper cable. They get a regular copper price from an exchange.
But it would be relatively simple to get a feed from an exchange with the daily closing price, and then write a little program that will read that file and post an MR21 transaction to update the price.

  • Cost Estimates - system collects planed price for some raw materials only

    Hello
I have a question regarding price determination for raw materials when creating cost estimates. My costing variant uses material future price (Accounting 1 view) in raw materials as a primary source for price collecting of raw materials and I want it to be that way. But the problem is that when creating a cost estimate only some materials are recognized as raw (key symbol) while others are recognized for costing (calculator symbol), although all of them have a future price entered into material master data on the same date. For those that are recognized for costing the system uses the average moving price.
I have tried setting all the data for raw materials the same way, the costing views (do not cost, no qty structure), the accounting views are the same and I still cant find the reason why system uses one type of valuation for some and other for others.
    Help?

Please check the Price Strategy sequence in the Valuation variant assinged to the Costing Variant in Tcode OKKN. The first priority in your case must be Moving avg price. So, please change it to the planned price which you want. The system will then consider this planned price for the raw material valuation.
    hope this info helps you.
    regards,
    VS.

  • Raw material costing - Valuation strategy with info-rec. "L" - Consignment

    Hi all,
I want to implement raw material costing for all our raw material.
I created a new costing variant which use strategy "L"  (price from purchasing info-record).  My sub-strategy is 9 - Effective Price from PO followed by 5 - Effective price from info-record.
Everything works well except for consignment with vendor.
I have a raw that is procured from a vendor. The price for the raw is stored in the purchasing info-record and has condition types associated with it. This PIR is of CONSIGNMENT type. However, When costing the raw in CK11N the price for this consignment material is not pulled into the estimate.
I have seen in note 552486 that "For the valuation with a price from the info record, the system can basically only consider info records with category 'N' (normal) and 'L' (subcontracting). "
Have any of you come accross this situation? if yes, how did you resolve it?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
any other idea about this ?  I want to use strategy "L" but want to know if I can make it work with consignment.
    Thanks

  • Cost object for raw material consumption posting

the raw material cosumption posting is done in the background when the goods issue is done. so where do we assign cost object for the primary cost element of raw material consumption account. since we create primary cost element for raw material consumption account, it will expect us to give cost object, so where we assign cost object for the raw material consumption cost element

    hi
since the raw material cost is relevent for cost accounting u need to maintain primary cost elment accounts. When ever u confirm goods, the rm issue will take place automatically and will be debited to either product cost collector or production order. so u need not to assign any cost object for these consumption accounts why bcoz issues will take palce aganist a production order or product cost collector which is a cost object .

  • Raw Material Costing with Overhead, Product Cost Planning

    Hi,
I have an issue applying overhead to purchased raw materials. We need to apply this overhead for only a certain materials. So, I have defined a overhead key/overhead Group, and assigned the group in the material master of the raw material. The overhead is 2% freight on raw material costs.
In the std.costing variant, I have assigned the costing sheet under Overhead on material components tab of the corresponding valuation variant. I have also included the Freight OH in the cost component structure.
However, when I run the costing with CK11N for the raw material, it is showing only the raw material cost, not the overhead.
    What could be the problem?
    I appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Ram

Is the overhead rate a percentage type or quantity based?
Have you maintained both actual and plan rates (1 & 2) under define % based OH rates or Qty based OH rates accordingly?
Does the validity date (in define OH rates )cover the date of costing?
Is the Costing sheet assigned to the valuation variant at plant level?
Is the OH base in the costing sheet includes the cost element of the raw material?
