Cost to send Nano back to factory

My Nano doesn't charge anymore. It is just dead. I brought it to the store here in Hong Kong and it will cost to about and equivalent of $100US to fix it, with a 1 year warranty.
How much would it cost in the US?

Warranty repairs are FREE here in the U.S.  Should be the same in Hong Kong.

My iPod touch is not charging, nor is it syncing with my commputer and iTunes. It will charge on the wall charger, and in the car, but not on the computer. My wife's iPod Nano syncs on the computer. I went in and reset my iPod Touch back to factory settings and now it will not let me get in unless I sync to iTunes on my computer. Well, it still will not connect thru the USB cord. Does anyone know what I should do to get this corrected? I want my iPod back.

  • Do I get a 1st gen ipod nano back when I send for a replacement?

Do I get a 1st gen ipod nano back when I send for a replacement? I have a black 2GB that I got from my grandfather for Christmas years ago. I want the same one(1st gen black 2GB) sent back. I didn't realize I had to send my original back until I was finished. I don't want a 6th gen, I have one already.

That's not good. I just sent mine back a few days ago. Great I want my 1st gen Nano back. I don't want a 6th gen, already have one. And that 1st gen was special. I thought I was getting a replacement. They better be willing to send back my 1st gen if I can't get a replacement 1st gen nano back.

    Hi NYYJMM,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
You may want to reset your iPod nano and then sync again. If the issue persists, restore your iPod and try again. See these articles for the steps:

  • How do I set an a powerbook G4 back to factory settings

I wan to set a powerbook G4 back to factory settings and I do not have a disk or any software for the laptop. How do I do this?

You can't without disks. The is no downloadable version of the software that came with that Mac so you must have disks. A Tiger 10.4 full retail install disk set would get you going but they are still in demand and may cost as much as the computer is worth.
For computers not quite so old, you can phone Apple, give them your model and serial number and they can check to see if they have original install/restore disks like the ones that would have shipped with the computer. Its a long shot on a ten-year old model.

  • I have just restored my pavilion DV6 back to factory and cannot log onto my email server?

Just tried reinstalling back to factory for my wife and all went well except no email client will work, tried , live mail, outlook 2007, trial outlook 2010 and thunderbird with no success, tried imap and pop again with no success. tried logging onto my known good email account.
Tried removing the pre installed norton av again no luck, things were getting a bit flakey after all of the install/uninstalls so restored it one more time but this time only installed windows live mail and the pre installed office starter edition and still cant log on to an email server

Just have to give it some time. The activation and verification servers are all slammed right now 'cause of all the people trying to update at the same time. Give it a couple hours (or overnight if you can wait) and it should sort itself out.

  • Should I reset my phone before sending it back?

I just received a replacement phone in the mail to replace what I hope will be considered a manufacture defect on my current Droid Razr.  Should I delete all the data and do a factory reset on my current phone?  I feel strange sending it back with all my info, but I also want them to see exactly what the problem is.  What should I do?  Thanks!

Absolutely, and to truly clear it you need to enable encryption first then do a factory reset, that guarantees that all personal data is not only cleared but not retrievable through recovery type software as well.
Here is more info plus info on how to encrypt and wipe Stop Thieves From Recovering Your Data After A Factory Reset

  • I want my iPod nano back

I was told about the replacement iPod nano 1st gen replacement program and my iPod was elegible. First they said Apple would replace the battery. And now I find they are sendirng refurbished iPod Nanos 6th gen, any color.
I want to know if there is any way to get my old iPod nano back. It was working perfectly, it was almost new after all this years. I want to keep it. I assume the risk if it explodes, i've already been warned. I don't want the iPod 6th gen, I already have one. It's the iPod nano I like the less of all history.
Please Apple, since you haven't specified what would you replace with I want to have the chance to choose now and I want my old iPod nano 1st gen back, please, it's very valuable for me, my first iPod, don't dare to depiece it. It's it too late? Where can I email/phone? Nobody on the support lane can help. Pleaaaaseee!!!
BTW: iTunes Match works very poorly!

Sorry, but it is too late.  I am in the same boat, and I am NOT happy about it.  I asked your question and a dozen others when I was on the phone with Customer Support for about half an hour today.  The CS rep was very nice and really took time to talk to senior support managers and even the people in charge of the replacement shipments, but there was nothing positive he had to tell me...
Once they have your iPod, it is gone.  They have NOTHING in place to allow you get it back (not surprising) or to do anything else.  You cannot request a refurbished 1G (the ones they already had are long gone and they are NOT refurbishing the ones people are sending back... they are just removing the parts they can re-use to refurbish later gen nanos... so there are no 1Gs to be had), you cannot request a certain color (or request NOT to get a particularly ugly color) of the 6G, etc.  All you can do now is just wait to see what color square, ugly refurbished 6G they send you.
All you can do is call Apple and ask to lodege a complaint.  The CS rep filed a complaint for me, because if Apple had simply been honest and told people what the plan was upfront (hmmm... what a concept!), I would have kept mine (and would have been perfectly happy to do so).  I loved it, and didn't use it very often (so the battery risk was minimal)... and I would NOT have sent it back if I had known that I would NOT be getting a 1G back!

  • I took my iPad back to factory settings as I was having problems. Now sorted but I cannot find my audio books in iTunes anymore. Help!!!

I took my iPad back to factory settings through my PC. Everything was recovered except my  audio books bought through iTunes. How can I retrieve them?

When you reset, they were wiped out as well. Will need to redownload. Check the Purchased section where they should be found to download without any additional cost.

Hi apple *sigh* i have a serious problem with my imessage... when i try to open it, it automaticlly sends me back to my homescreen... hope someone knows this problem, thanks

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • My ipod doesnt work n i want to send it back for retailing is it free of do you have to pay if yes then how much?

my ipod doesnt work n i want to send it back for retailing is it free of do you have to pay if yes then how much?
(it jus keeps on buffering insted of turnoing on)

If covered by warranty and the iPod is defective and not abused Apple will exchange it at no cost.
For how to send it to Apple see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipod
You can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
    However, have you tried:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Just got my Nano back from service and.....

I just sent my 2Gb Nano into Apple care and got it serviced. I just got it back and got a completely new Nano. My problem is that this one has a white screen and I havent dropped in or done anything, except plug it into my computer and install it on my computer. I was wondering if I had to send it back in again. Thanks.
    Dell   Windows XP

From what I was told by one of the forum Mods a while back, Apple engineers have determined that this is caused by not allowing the firmware update to finish the installation before disconnecting the iPod. Try these steps.
    Reset the iPod.
If the reset doesn't help, then put the iPod into forced disk mode.
How to put the iPod into disk mode.
Now connect the iPod to the computer. This step may immediately take you to the iPod's normal display screen. Reset the iPod to exit disk mode.
If you still have the white screen, then you should use the updater to restore the iPod.
Wait until the restore has finished before disconnecting the iPod. If you're unsure, wait at least 20 minutes (it's probably overkill but best to be sure). In my experience, the software updater for version 1.1.1 (and later) takes longer to complete the process than previous updaters.
    That should cure the issue.
If however it doesn't, and your iPod is still non responsive (doesn't reset, nothing on the screen or button presses don't work), then it will have to be sent away for service.
    See: iPod service request.
