Costom Serializers in Weblogic 7.0.1

I am having a problem preventing the servicegen ant task from attempting to create
java code for an unsupported type. The class is java.sql.Timestamp. Several
of my ejbs use the Timestamp class in their interfaces and servicegen complains
that Timestamp does not have a default ctor. That was expected. I then created
a custom codec class to serialize and deserialize the Timestamp class. The servicegen
portion of my build.xml file looks like this:
<servicegen
destEar="web-services"
warName="web-services.war"
contextURI="ws">
<service
typeMappingFile="typeMaps/wl7.xml"
ejbJar="myejb.jar"
targetNamespace="http://www.eoriginal.com/web-services"
includeEJBs="IndustrySession"
serviceName="IndustrySession"
serviceURI="/IndustrySession"
generateTypes="True"
expandMethods="True">
</service>
</servicegen>
The contents of the type mapping file (wl7.xml) is as follows:
<type-mapping>
<type-mapping-entry xmlns:p2="java:java.sql.Timestamp"
class-name="java.sql.Timestamp"
type="p2:Timestamp"
serializer="webservices.TimestampCodec"
deserializer="webservices.TimestampCodec">
</type-mapping-entry>
</type-mapping>
The Codec class (ser/deser) is in the classpath. The typeMappingFile element
of <service> appears to have no effect on the operation of the servicegen task.
If the typeMappingFile element is provided with a path to a type mapping file
servicegen should not complain about that type (class) since the custom ser/deser
will handle it.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Michael,
That makes sense. I will give it a try. I suspect the problem will be that I
have MANY "unsupported" types exposed through the ebj interfaces. If what you
are saying is strictly true then I will have to create MANY serializers when I
don't really need to.
Thanks for the response,
Tim

Hi Tim,
I think the generateTypes attribute, on the <service> element, is an
"all-or-nothing"
type deal. Meaning that if you specify "false", no serializers/deserializers/codecs
will be generated for any "custom data types". If you specify "true",
it's going
to try to do it for every "custom data type", even the one that you already
created
the serializer for.
I agree that this is a little "brain-dead", but when you look at the
primary purpose
for these Ant tasks - generating "all the artifacts" for a Web Service,
I think
you can see where the BEA engineers were placing the emphasis :-)
The only way I can see around your problem, is to set the generateTypes
attribute
to "false". <servicegen> should insert the contents of your typeMaps/wl7.xml
file,
into the web-services.xml file, in the .war file for the web service.
If this doesn't work, attach a zip containing your webservices.TimestampCodec
class, and I'll see what kind of "workaround" I can come up with :-)

  • Web services with servicegen i Weblogic 7

    I am trying to create web services with Weblogic's tool servicegen and
    ANT. It works great until I have a web service method that return a PK
    class of an EJB. I get the error "Error: bean property and public

    some investigating I found out that it was my PK class that was the
    bad guy. But my PK class MUST have the field "id" public, otherwise
    ejbc complains...
    Am I doing anything wrong or does anyone have a solution?

    Web services can only be published to BEA if you install Apache SOAP on BEA and use the Apache SOAP option of JDeveloper. The J2EE Web Services implementation framework is specific to Oracle9iAS.
    The PL/SQL Web Services server implementation is based on the J2EE Web Services option and as a result is not really portable to BEA.
    To publish a PL/SQL Web service on BEA with JDeveloper you would have to write the Java wrapper code to invoke the stored procedure using standard JDBC and then publish that Java class as a Web service using Apache SOAP. Then if you had Apache SOAP installed on BEA you would be set.
    Portability of Web services implementations is a big feature coming with JAX-RPC - currently what most vendors have is interoperability between implementations because of things like SOAPBuilders and WS-I. When JAX-RPC becomes part of J2EE 1.4 roughly in June and vendors start putting out implementations on it you should get closer to portability.
    In the meantime, the easiest way to get portability is to use the same SOAP server on both servers - Apache SOAP is a good example.
    Hope this helps.

  • Apache SOAP 2.2 - Weblogic 6.1SP2

    Hi,
    Has anyone managed to get Apache SOAP working with Weblogic 6x?
    I can get everything up and running, but for some reason the classloader
    for the web application (ie; the actual Apache SOAP app) doesn't load the
    classes in my jar file containing the EJB files, serializers, etc.
    Therefore whenever I make a SOAP request I get a server side error reported
    via SOAP that some class or another (one of my own ones) cannot be found.
    I can cure this by sticking my jar file in the server's classpath - however
    this isn't great as it means the JVM's classloader is picking everything up
    and I lose the ability to redeploy.
    Any ideas? In the absence of any other information it would seem that
    Weblogic's classloaders are buggy...
    Cheers,
    Trev

    Hi Trev,
    Let's recap here:
    1. You are deploying the .war file for Apache SOAP, into WLS 6.1 SP2, right? If
    yes, you copied the .war file into the $WL_HOME/config/examples/applications directory,
    or something similar, right?
    2. It (some class or classes in soap.war) couldn't find the classes for your EJB
    so, you "unwarred" it, created a WEB-INF/lib directory, and copied the .jar for
    your EJB into that directory. Then you re-jarred the soap.war, right? If so, did
    you put a <ejb-ref> element in the web.xml (for soap.war), so it (the SOAP webapp)
    would know about the ejb?
    The <ejb-ref> should look something like this:
    <ejb-ref>
    <description></description>
    <ejb-ref-name>examples.webservices.security.PhoneBookService</ejb-ref-name>
    <ejb-ref-type>Session</ejb-ref-type>
    <home>examples.webservices.security.PhoneBookServiceHome</home>
    <remote>examples.webservices.security.PhoneBookService</remote>
    </ejb-ref>
    You'd also need to create a WEB-INF/weblogic.xml file and put something like this
    in it:
    <reference-descriptor>
    <ejb-reference-description>
    <ejb-ref-name>examples.webservices.security.PhoneBookService</ejb-ref-name>
    <jndi-name>examples.webservices.security.PhoneBookService</jndi-name>
    </ejb-reference-description>
    </reference-descriptor>
    But, I would do any of this because your EJB doesn't have "diddly squat" to do
    with Apache SOAP ;-) The Apache SOAP web app is a "standalone" thing, right? You
    want to use your EJB "with it", not be part "of it" right? Exactly! So, let's
    abandon that route...
    3. Next, you tried to turn the Apache SOAP Web Application (.war) into the Apache
    SOAP Enterprise Application (.ear). I'm assuming that you created a META-INF/application.xml
    that looked something like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE application PUBLIC '-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD J2EE Application
    1.2//EN' 'http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/application_1_2.dtd'>
    <application>
    <display-name>Apache SOAP 2.2</display-name>
    <module>
    <web>
    <web-uri>soap.war</web-uri>
    <context-root>/soap</context-root>
    </web>
    </module>
    <module>
    <ejb>{name of the .jar for your ejb}</ejb>
    </module>
    </application>
    But, you didn't create the <ejb-ref> stuff in #2 above. Again, I don't think it
    makes a lot of sense to put "your EJB" in the "Apache SOAP" Enterprise application
    What's going on here (the Apache SOAP code not being able to find your EJB classes)
    is "expected behavior" as far as the BEA docs go. Everyone I know (including me!)
    that deploys the Apache SOAP web app in WebLogic, creates a .jar that contains
    a copy of all the remote (and home) interface classes that the rpcrouter servlet
    will call, and puts this in the -classpath used to start WebLogic. That way, it
    (the Apache SOAP web app) will be able to find them. I don't put the jar for the
    EJB in the -classpath, though. To be honest, I don't use Apache SOAP because it
    doesn't support WSDL yet ;-)

    Hi Mike,
    Cheers for the response. I've read the documentation you've linked to
    and I
    understand how WLS performs class loading.
    However, the documentation implies that I could either;
    A) Package the SOAP war file together with my EJB jar file in an EAR
    file
    and deploy, and the SOAP web app would subsequently be able to reference
    classes/beans. (Ref: "Although you could deploy the .war and .jar files
    separately, deploying them together in an .ear file produces a classloader
    arrangement that allows the servlets and JSPs to find the EJB classes.")
    B) Simply place my EJB jar file in the WEB-INF\lib subdirectory of the
    deployed SOAP web app. (Ref: J2EE specification).
    In fact, neither of these work, and I am forced to include the EJB jar
    in
    the server's classpath.
    Surely theres some kind of problem here?

    Hi Trev,
    Technically, this is not so much an issue with the classloader(s) inWLS,
    as it
    is with J2EE packaging. WLS uses a pretty sophisticated, hierarchicalclass loading
    architecture. The main reason for using this approach, was to supportundeploying/redeploying
    J2EE components (i.e. Servlets, EJBs) without shutting down the JVM.
    What you are encountering is a phenomena where Apache SOAP is deployedas
    a Web
    Application, with it's own ServletContext and classloader.
    See the following links for specifics on class loading and J2EE packagingin WLS:
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs60/programming/packaging.html#1048725
    After reading this, you will see why the classloader associated withthe
    Apache
    SOAP web app, cannot see the classes (i.e. serializer, EJBs, etc.)you are
    using
    to implement your web service.

    Hello Muffy,
    It looks like you do not have WLS 5.1 service pack 6 installed correctly. I
    say this because I do not see the sp6 message at the top of your log and I saw
    this message in your log:
    org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Element "weblogic-enterprise-bean" allows no
    further input; "transaction-isolation" is not allowed

  • Installation problem on Weblogic 10.3.2

    I'm trying to install BI on Weblogic 10.3.2 under Linux. I followed the instructions in the installtion guide and edited the xmlp-server-config.xml file to change the file path to /home/repository/XMLP
    under /home/repository/XMLP I have Admin, DemoFiles, Reports and Tools that I copied from my windows stand-alone application.
    When I start BI I get a oracle.apps.xdo.servlet.resources.ResourceNotFoundException: ${oracle.home}/xdo/repository/Admin/Scheduler/quartz-config.properties
    any idea?

    I had same issue with Oracle Weblogic 11g R1 (10.3.3). The problem was with the contents of the XMLP folder (not the path as the error message would suggest). The XMLP folder I was referencing in xmlp-server-config.xml was the one generated by the OBIEE installer and also configured by me using OC4J (to make sure I had a known good configuration before trying a deploy to WLS). For example, i had configured the JDBC connections and Installed the publisher scheduler tables. The fix was to use the default out of the box XMLP folder from the install media. Now the application starts without a hitch. \biee_windows_x86_101341\Windows\Server_Ancillary\Oracle_Business_Intelligence_Publisher\

  • Issue with JPDs in my weblogic application

    I have a weblogic integration application running on WL 8.1 SP5. There are 2 JPDs and 2 web services in the application. I am having an issue in the live server when the application has been running for quite a while. One of the JPDs stops working. The issue is resolved by redeploying the application. On redeploying from the weblogic console, the code starts to run again!!! Has any one come across such an issue? Is this something to do with server settings? I would welcome any suggestions to solve this recurring issue.

    Hi Darshan,
    Thanks for your answer.
    I change my package to do an another test.
    My XML :
    <dataTemplate name="XXAPINMOXML" description="SUIVI DES INTERETS MORATOIRES" defaultPackage="XXAPINMO_PKG">
    <dataQuery>
    <parameters>
    <parameter name="p_type_edition"/>
    </parameters>
    <PROPERTIES>
    <property name="include_parameters" value="true"/>
    </PROPERTIES>
    My package :
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE XXAPINMO_PKG AS
    p_type_edition varchar2(150);
    FUNCTION beforeReport return boolean;
    END XXAPINMO_PKG;
    show errors package XXAPINMO_PKG;
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY XXAPINMO_PKG
    AS
    FUNCTION beforeReport return boolean is
    BEGIN
    fnd_file.put_line(FND_FILE.LOG,'p_type_edition ' || p_type_edition);
    IF p_type_edition = 'Y' THEN
         fnd_file.put_line(FND_FILE.LOG,'Case Y');
    ELSE
         fnd_file.put_line(FND_FILE.LOG,'Case N');
    END IF;
    return true;
    END beforeReport;
    END XXAPINMO_PKG;
    show errors package body XXAPINMO_PKG;
    Then I launch my concurrent program with 'Y' in parameter and I see the log of my concurrent program :
    XDO Data Engine Version No: 5.6.3
    Resp: 51213
    Org ID : 45
    Request ID: 2468909
    All Parameters: p_type_edition=Y
    Data Template Code: XXAPINMOXML
    Data Template Application Short Name: XXAP
    Debug Flag: N
    {p_type_edition=Y}
    Calling XDO Data Engine...
    Début des messages de journalisation à partir du fichier FND_FILE.
    p_type_edition
    Case N
    Fin des messages de journalisation à partir du fichier FND_FILE.
    But normally it should be 'Case Y' which would be written ...
    And when I see the XML via Diagnostic I don't see the parameter however I add <property ...>
    I really don't understand ...
    Maybe do you have an another idea ?

  • Problem with links in deployed ADF application to Weblogic Server 11g

    Hi everyone !
    I have a query here, firstly, I have created an ADF application using Jdeveloper 11g and have successfully deployed (EAR file) onto the weblogic server.
    However, after testing out the application, the linking within the application does not seem to work. Whenever I click on a link or button, the page refreshes but the result is not displayed.
    What could have cause the problem?
    Thanks
    Gavin

    Are the ADF runtime libraries installed into the WebLogic server?

    Thanks

    Hi
    1. Deleting a domain will not hold any references. But make sure that under your user_projects/applications also remove the folder that matches with your domain. Basically under user_projects folder you will see 2 folders named applications and domains. When you create a domain say mySoaDomain, it will crate a folder with the same name under applications folder also with few files like em.ear. If you do this, then you can crate a new soa domain and use the same old name.
    2. NOW comes the most important thing. If you create a new SOADomain, at one point, you had to give details for soainfra and mds schemas. If you give your current existing db details (that was used for your old deleted domain), then you may still have the issues. Because the soainfra db may still have the instances for your old process.
    3. If you really want to have a full clean soa domain, here is what you do:
    a) Run rcu and drop the existing schemas for soainfra and mds.
    b) Run rcu again and create above schemas again.
    c) Now create SOADomain using config wizard and refer above clean rcu db and you are all set.
    3. Under your domain root folder, just searh for files named with your workflow and you should see the .jar location.
    Thanks

    Initially this application was giving me absolute path related errors.But when I made changes to applicationContext.xml as follows,giviing absolute path for Hibernate mapping files
    <property name="mappingDirectoryLocations">
         <list>
         *<value>file:D:\saas-mappings</value>*
         </list>
    </property>
    I have extrached all the *.hbm.xml file to above location that is D:\saas-mappings.But now the application is giving me above mentioned error.The error says that it is related to Named queries.I am pasting the contents of a sample *.hbm.xml file having named query as a sample

    Hi,
    For a tutorial with source on how to create and deploy a simple quickstart JEE5 JPA enterprise 3-tier application on your Oracle WebLogic 10.3 server - see the following example that uses the EclipseLink JPA provider. You should be able to transition all of your mapping information (the @ManyToOne and table/column overrides and named queries for example) using either JPA via entity annotations or native extensions if you do not want to implement EJB3.
    see...
    http://wiki.eclipse.org/EclipseLink/Examples/JPA/WebLogic_Web_Tutorial
    We also have a similar version for Tomcat 6 except the JPA entity beans run outside a container-managed JTA transaction on the web container - for reference.
    http://wiki.eclipse.org/EclipseLink/Examples/JPA/Tomcat_Web_Tutorial
    thank you

    Does anybody knows what must be going wrong?
    Can't I deploy EJB 1.1 jar directly on Weblogic 10.3.0.0 or I need to change or configure something before doing it?

    Does the ejbCreate() method of the com.package.ejbimpl.RemoteServicesEjb class have an exception on it's throws clause that is not present on the ejbCreate() method of your home interface? If so, does the error go away if you add the exception to the home's ejbCreate() method? In general, you want checked exceptions in a throws clause to match between the interface declaration of the method and the implementation of the method on the bean class.

  • A Tip for using EJB 3.0 with WebLogic Ant Tasks

    I started out writing this up as a problem, but then I found the answer so I'm, posting a tip instead.
    When I tried to write an EJB [stateless] using EJB 3.0 in my legacy Weblogic ear project I started getting this error:
    <pre>
    No EJBs found in the ejb-jar file 'test'. Please ensure the ejb-jar contains EJB declarations via an ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor or at least one class annotated with the @Stateless, @Stateful or @MessageDriven EJB annotation.
    </pre>
    This is why: wlcompile will put the class files in the App-Inf/classes directory unless it finds an ejb-jar.xml file in the META-INF directory for the module it is working on. With EJB 3.0, I wasn't using an ejb-jar.xml file because it was unnecessary. Later, Appc runs and it complains <b>because there are no classes module directory, they went into the shared ear folder instead.</b>
    Here's I how it working again: Use javac [not wlcompile] to compile the EJB 3.0 module and make sure that the class files go into the correct module directory. Then you can use wlappc to generate all the associated files for the EJB. I have sucessfully deployed an ear file that uses both EJB 2.x and EJB 3.0 with this approach.
    I wish Weblogic's own ejb3.0 sample application used their split directory deployment.
    Good Luck.
    John Aronson

    Hi John,
    I am working on development an enterprise application using EJB 3.0 on Weblogic 10.
    While developing, I am keeping all my classes (from ejb's as well as web) into APP-INF/classes directory. It is working fine for Web and ejb 2.0 packages, but ejb 3.0 packages, I get the following error when I keep my ejb 3.0 beans classes in APP-INF/classes directory.
    No EJBs found in the ejb-jar file 'customer'. Please ensure the ejb-jar contains EJB declarations via an ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor or at least one class annotated with the @Stateless, @Stateful or @MessageDriven EJB annotation.
    One solution is to keep the classes under customer ejb directory, but I wan tto keep all the classes in APP-INF/classes directory so that when using Eclipse IDE I can output all compiled sources into APP-INF/classes directory.
    Has anyone faced this situation? Any suggestions to fix this issue?
