Costs assigned to a cc/profit center

hi,
I need to pick up the costs that are assigned to the cost center / profit center (non project).  Which table do i use. 
Currently, i get project costs from Covp.  can I get also these(Non project) costs also from Covp?  How do I know if they are for particular cost center?

    We have activated multiple valuation/transfer prices. Material ledger is also activated.
    We want to transfer cost component split to CO-PA by ke27.
    We have defined separate costing keys for access to actual cost estimate for legal and profit center valuations.
    But cost component split transfer to COPA works only for legal valution. Even we have defined type of valution for profit center  costing key -transfer cost component split and total costs.
    What should be else customized to transfer cost components splitting in profit center valuation to CO-PA from actual cost estimates?

    I have assigned the same value fields used for legal valuation to column 2, which was pointed in message.
    But now I got following message in ke27:
    For actual data, value fields that were already populated before CO-PA valuation cannot be changed in valuation.
    1. As a rule, value fields that were filled before CO-PA valuation - be it from SD or by a manual entry of a line item - can only be changed by means of user exits.
    (Note that for plan data, CO-PA valuation always has priority over the values planned manually.)
    2. The valuation steps in a CO-PA valuation strategy are numbered sequentially. These numbers determine the order in which the steps are carried out within that strategy. As a rule, value fields populated in one step can be used as a basis for calculating values for other value fields in a subsequent step.
    Value fields that were populated in a previous step are generally not overwritten by subsequent steps.
    The exception to this are steps that use a CO-PA user exit. User exits let you change individual value fields.
    3. If you valuate using multiple material cost estimates simultaneously, this means that the values of different cost components within the same cost estimate are aggregated and then entered in one CO-PA value field. However, value fields that already contain data from a previous cost estimate are not overwritten by a later cost estimate. Consequently, you should assign value fields in Customizing so that the values of different cost estimates are entered in different sets of value fields.
    4. When condition values are transferred to CO-PA value fields, note that condition types that are assigned to the same value field are added together. This is also the case when the condition types come from different costing sheets within the valuation strategy.
    So does it mean we should define separate value fields for PC valuation?

  • Manual Reposting of Costs (KB11N) does not update Profit Center

    When I do Manual Reposting of Costs on KB11N, the system does not update the Profit center with the value but it does update the Cost center.

    Please check whether sender as well as receiver cost object is assigned to profit center. If this is done PCA document gets generated and update is made in respective Profit center.

  • Substituting Cost of Goods Sold Account Profit Center

    Hi
    I am using Sales Order substitution to change the Profit Center according to Sales Org + Product Hierarchy + Customer Group + Acct Asst Grp.  This perfectly replace the Profit Center in Sales Order.  The Profit Center from Sales Order is perfectly flowing to Outbound Delivery.
    While doing PGI, in accounting document, Cost of Goods Sold line item is not getting the profit center from outbound delivery.  It post COGS line item with Material Master profit center.  We want profit center of Cost of Goods Sold line item is same as Sales order / Outbound Delivery.
    I checked SCN, everyone provided the solution of using FI Substitution to change the Profit Center of COGS line item.
    Is it any other way it can be achieved?  if FI Substitution is only the way, can anyone provide the sample code, so that it can be developed fast.

    For those who may need an answer to this, our solution was the following: 
    1)       Created new types for SO, SO Item, Sched. Line, Delivery, Delivery Item, Billing type  
    2)       Created new Pricing procedure
    3)       Created new movement type Y61/Y62 modeled after 601/602
    4)       Mapped Y61/Y62 to account modifier ZAX.
    5)       Mapped GBB/ZAX to the new account.
    Benefits, they now have better view of the orders going inter-company.  It is flexible enough to adjusting prices for intercompany separate from standard orders, even though for now it is a straight copy of cost.  They are able to remove the sales/use tax, from the calculations. They are able to plan with these orders separated out.  Plus, this will standardize their process for inter-company.

    What i understood the valuation means. it views the business transaction in different ways and it will be assigned based on client requirements.
    My question is:
    Currently, i am using two different valuation i.e, Group and legal valuation and assigned to Group and company code currency respectively and Same thing maintained in Controlling Area (Combination of Group and Legal valuation) under currency settings. We posted number of postings based on this config.
    Now, my requirement is can i change this config. (valuation from Group to Profit center) in mid of the year. if it so  what are merits and demerits for this config.

  • Assign Functional area to Profit Center Distribution Cycle postings

    Hi All,
    I am using a NEW GL distribution cycle (Tran Code : FAGLGA35) for distributing balances in the Dummy Profit center to relevent Profit centers.
    My Company is using Functional area for FIN STAT Ver and other reportings. When I run the profit center distribution cycle, it distirbutes the amounts but doesnot assign the Functional areas to the posting. Is there a way I can pass the functional area of the relevent postings of the accounts to the postings of each distribution postings.

    In this particular case, you could have a look at the following to
    see if it helps you, but I have not tested this for your case
    so it is not being offered as a definite solution:
    You could look at using FAGL_ALLO_SUBSTITUTE which might be able to
    help you to get the results that you want.
    Due to the inheritance logic in allocation, if you set "transfer
    field" option active for the field (T811I-INHER), the system copies
    the sender value to the receiver if the receive value is not specified.
    Please refer to SAP Help portal:

    You can deactivate "transfer field" flag in customizing
    and use BAdI : FAGL_ALLO_SUBSTITUTE to substitute the intended

    field during allocation, rather than OBBH substitution.)

  • Assign GL account to profit center,  or plant sales office (movement 601)

    When you craete an outbound delivery (picking, packing & goods issue), it creates an Financial document (the goods issue), the goods issue have a plant and sales office & profit centre. When the financial document is created, it post to a specific GL Account, I want to change the GL Account, but don't know which field (plant, sales office, profit centre) determines the GL account, and where this setting is made, so that I can change it.
    The movement type that involve is 601. This means for every goods issue we generate, there is a accounting document, and this account document is posting to a GL account, and I want to change this specific GL account. It is not in VKOA, OKGB or GGB1.

    G/L Account will determined based on Plant i.e. valuation area.
    These valuation ares grouped into Valuation group ( Modifier) code and
    Transaction Event ( GBB, BSX)  will determined by Movement type ( 601)
    Valuation Class will determined from Material Master Accounting view.
    Now come to OBYC - Chart of Account -- Press GBB & BSX Transaction Event
    Combination of Valuation Modifier + Valuation class _ G/L Account.
    For these activities best you plz co ordinate with ur MM Team. becasue Account determination is related to MM.

  • Cost Center assign Profit Center Issues

    Hi Controlling Expert,
    i have one issues regarding, Cost Center assign to Profit Center
    wht happened , we have made MIS Report Thru Report Painter KE80, we have map based on   Primary Cost Element, at the time of Business Transaction, we have capture the Finance Cost center i.e FI000, Marketing Cost center i.e MK000 , HR Cost Center i,e HR000 and assign the same cost  center FI000 to Profit Center i.e FI000 also same name, respectively. in MIS report there is two Head  i.e Sustaining Cost and Development Cost ,where we have to capture only Cost center  for Sustaining Cost related  to display i.e FI000, MK000 and HR000. KE80 report belongs to Profit Center wise you can see the Report. But same FI000, MK000 and HR000 also updated related with business transaction and capture above cost center like in depreciation  GL Amount 1000 cost center FI000 and sustaining cost also updated the same amount 1000 because we have assign FI000, i.e wrong . last 3 months post the amount now wht should I do for not updated sustaining cost, as I understand , should be delete sustaining Cost as well Development, and later on we can take report from KSB1 for FI000, MK000 and HR000, for management purpose, so if I cannot assign profit center FI000 to Cost Center .kindly correct me whether ryt or wrong. Coz Fianance, HR cost and marketing is only cost center. not suppose to assigh profit center, in this case how Profit Center removed from Cost center. kindly let me knw, or give me other option.

  • OKB9 Profit center wise assignment is not allowing.

    Dear Experts,
                           Here iam facing problem like, In OKB9 setting valuation area wise allowing for cost center assignment, Profit Center wise not allowing for cost center assignment.It means it will allow to assign cost centers, but while transacting error troughing like co object missing, if we make setting like valuation area, it not throughing any error.
    We can think why cant we go for assignment with valuation area.But we have number of profit centers under one plant, Plant is equal to valuation area, Here iam suppose to go by profit center wise only, please give me a better solution to come out of this issue at the earliest.

    Hi,
    Select 3 in account assignment i.e. Profit Center Mandatory and then give profit center in combination of Cost Center.
    May also I know why do u have multiple Profit Centers in a single plant?  Generally u can create one profit center for one plant and there by u assign for material and plant combination this profit center. If u follow this process then u can use 1(Valuation area) as mandatory and assign the profit centers/cost centers for each plant.

  • Functionality of Profit Center and Cost Center

    Hi,
    I am unable to understand the functionality of Profit center and cost center, I know that cost center represents area within an organization for which you will like to see the expenses for a particular time period. for example in an organisation we have three cos centers Accounts, HR and Admin. whenever you post an accounting document in FI you will specify the cost center to which the expense relates. but in some cases when you post an expense and give the relative cost center the profit center is also driven by the system. why is this behavior? i mean i have posted an expense not an income then why is system driving the profit center as well?
    Profit centers are used if you want to see the profit of different area of your organisation. in what kind of postings we use profit center? and if we could use profit center to draw income and loss for a specific area why do we need segment reporting? and what is the difference between Segment and Business area. what i understood from their definition is that they are both same and use for same purpose.
    I am totally lost in these concepts. please some one help me out with an example. i am stuck at this point. some one please clarify my concept of Profit Center, Cost Center, Segments and business area please.

    Cost center & Profit Center are organizational units   within the enterprise structure , created for better internal control.
    As the name suggests Cost Center  is  the lowest level  of the organizational unit representing a defined location of cost incurrence or otherwise to which you can meaningfully assign the cost(both direct & Indirect).
    Profit Center is an organizational unit  in accounting  ,where management would require to see the profitability & fix the responsibility. It may be each plant/division of the company .
    If you consider the Plant is the Profit center, you can take the various deptts in the Plant as cost centers. you can draw a balance sheet & profit & loss account statement at profit center level but this will be for your internal use.From this you can know the ROI on particular area. Profit centers are assigned inside the cost center so when you update cost center, profit centers are updated automatically.
    Where as Segments are used for legal reporting of your accounting standard as per IFRS. Both Business Area & Segments are more or less same with some technical difference.
    Business area  is a free organizational unit. It can be derived through cost center or can be entered manually.
    But segment is a dependent organizational unit. It is defined & attached inside the  profit center master data. It can’t be entered manually.
    SAP suggest to use the Segment concept.

    Cost center is the responsibility for the cost incurred like departments etc...where as profit centers are responsibility for the profitability units within the organization like productwise, region wise etc... Hence profit center can be one where you accrue your revenue but cost centers can be many where cost are incurred, hence it is many cost centers to one profit center assignment.

    We have created new profit center and we want to assign this new profit center for the cost center which has already been assigned with some other profit center.
    I am geeting the warning message as follows:
    Field changes to field Profit Center
    lead to complicated tests of the data involved,
    which may take some time.
    Do you really want to carry out field changes
    online? (no = do not carry out the change)
    The old cost center was created during 2007. We have 3 years transactions.

    Hi Latha,
    What he meant is use the create t code and use new analysis period but still using the same cost centre number.
    This way, it will create a new version of this cost centre with new analysis period. All the work centre or HR assignment wont be affected.
    However, current open cost will be affects your profit centre report later on. SAP gave that message because they not advising ppl to change assignment of the profit centre in cost centre after the cost centre has been used. The proper way to change the assignment is to transfer out every open transaction of the cost to a dummy profit centre, then transfer it back after you have change the assignment of the profit centre. this way, your reporting will be correct. Else it will be messed up.. Please be careful..

    when we create a maintenance order in plant maintenance module, profit center is getting defaulted from the cost center assigned to main work center, all the material costs are psoted to this profit center, but my requirement is cost of materials of specific plant should be posted to different profit center. is there any way i can do this.

    One way is to maintain the entries in a ztable for material and cost center relation and implement a proper BAdi/Enhancement.

    Alternatively, you can do the following:
    1. For what ever transaction u want the enhancement .. just check for the System-->status (menu) and find out the PROGRAM name....
    2. Double click on to the program name and go inside the program (Abap editor)
    3. Search for "Call Customer-function " ... and u'll get some search results .. If u get results then u have enhancement in that tcode .....
    4. Then it actually calls a Function module .... copy the Function module name .... go to SE80 (object navigator) click on "Repository Information system" then Customer Enhancements .... Give the Function module name in the "Components" field and click Execute ....
    ull get a list of Enhancements related to that Componene....
    5. Choose which ever enhancement will suit ur business need ..
    6. Go to CMOD... create a project .... assign ur enhancement ... and then code ur logic.... activate ur enhancement in CMOD ....... Ur Buisness need will be solved...

    Finding whether there is any User Exit or not for tcode VA42
    1. For what ever transaction u want the user exit .. just check for the System-->status (menu) and find out the PROGRAM name.... ( The program name would be for our scenario "SAPMV45A" )
    2. Double click on to the program name and go inside the program (Abap editor)
    3. Search for the word "USEREXIT" .... u ll find all the user exits in the search result .. and find ur's then ...
