Could DOT or PSU cause reboot in UT2K

Hello, i have the 865PE S Neo2  and first off i have mat set to slow an all setting are defualt , as i do not want to overclock as of yet.(havent made my mind yet of performace vs risk), but back to the post . My problem is that after playing ut2003 for 30 min. i have gotten a reboot and once it studderd gunfire on an on till i restarted. now could this be dot overclocking at peak cpu use and then chocking or could it be my psu heating up and putting out less juice? my psu +3.3v=36a, +5v=44a, +12v=20a. If it could be dot ,does bios 1.7 allow you to disable it (im almost scaried to update after reading all the post)                                                                                                                             ps.  im running winXP sp1 thanx for all the great post

DOT are the settings that use army ranks. If you can see these in the bios settings you can disable them, if you can't then it is not the problem.
You may be thinking of MAT/PAT, which you can't see in the bios and won't be enabled if you are running in Slow.
What make of power supply, and do you know if these are 'peak' ratings? If they are not peak then the supply is heavy enough. What voltage to you have your DRAM set for? If it is at default of 2.5, increase it to 2.65

  • Could DirectTv server be causing my Double Nat Issues?

Could DirectTv server be causing my Double Nat Issues? I am using an older Motorola Modem, then my Airport Extreme, then my airport express in bridge mode.  The DirectTv server seems to be plugged in before the Airportr Express so I am pretty sure it is no getting any info from the Airport Extreme but I am not sure.
The modem is model Motorola SurfBoard 5101U.  I do not beleive it has router capabilities.
The problem seems to only come up when I am using my Mac Book Pro (Mavericks).  Usually only when trying to download large files.  It does not effect my ipads or iphones.  Very strange.
I've been racking my brain on this for a year.
    Thanks,
    Stephen

So, I run into some similar problems. I used to have the HD-DVR pre-Genie, which is when I started seeing some of the problems that my AirPort Utility was reporting. I hardwire every connection where possible. I currently run out of my AirPort TC into a switch. From the switch I go out to the rest of the house including an Apple TV and the new Genie. Along with multiple other wall ports, etc.
It seems to me that whenever I have my Genie hardwired in - for extended period of times my network will "crash" and I will receive an error of Double NAT. Once I unplug the DirecTV from the network, everything goes back to working fine. This ocurred on the old HD-DVR as well as the Genie.
I would welcome any ideas or suggestions.
I am running a Motorola SURFboard S86141, New AirPort Extreme TC, and a Netgear 8-Port Switch.
Thank you in advance for your help!!

  • Wierd dotted line only caused by insertion of .swf file in FF, but not in IE

    Hi there,
Can anyone explain why this only happens in FF and not in IE? I have been trying to see why it occurs under the .swf file and only in FF.
The website does not show the dotted line in IE.
Its as if the .swf file is 1 pixel to deep for the website in FF, and causes the line to appear.
Doing this for a friend and any help would be appreciated.
    example: www.reapergym.com/index3.html
    Many thanks,

    Hi there,
It must have been an issue directly associated with the SWF object.
As the background was mostly grey, it did not present itself as the main issue other forums have discussed as being the "dreaded grey line around swf file".
Upon closer inspection, it was there - a 1 pixel border only showing in FF.
I followed the SWFobject solution by adding a small bit of Javascript and it vanished and looks fine.
    http://blog.deconcept.com/swfobject/
Thats probably why it looks OK now!
Thank you for your response, as it could have been something that I could have searched forever to solve.

  • Add -t to syslog init.d, stop/start syslog caused reboot, port still there

I have 2 Solaris 8 servers running on identical hardware except for the amount of memory. The software is not the same for patches (see below).
I wanted to turn off remote syslog (port 514) so I changed /etc/init.d/syslogd by adding a -t at syslogd start, and ran init.d/syslog stop and start. Server #1 restarted without issue and the port is not longer visible in netstat -an. For server #2, I immediately lost connectivity and the server rebooted itself. My file systems required a fsck. What could cause this.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

  • X2200 and IB card causes reboot every 10 seconds

    Hi
we're currently facing a problem with x86 server and PCI Infiniband Adapter.
Sun as the IB card is in the slot, the server reboots every 10 seconds. This
causes the network connection to get lost (including ILOM). It is impossible
to boot the system (hence no OS could be installed ether). Sun as the IB card
is taken out the system works well.
    Sun P/N: 375-3382

What OS are will you be installing?
On our Infiniband cluster (v20z's with Infinicon IB cards), we first installed linux, then the Mellanox drivers (supplied by the IB vendor), then installed the cards. All has been well for over a year of uninterrupted uptime.
Sounds like the default OS installation (which would be Solaris) does not recognize the card and crashes.

  • PSU causing lock ups when gaming? K9A2 Platinum

I am having black screen and occasionally grey screen lock ups when Im playing games. It can happen within 10 minutes or up to an hour. I have to press the power button to restart and dont get any windows errors or blue screen. I have no issues when watching videos or just tooling around. My PSU is a OCZ600MXSP and Im thinking its not up to spec. I have everything running stock. Is it likely my PSU doesnt cut it or is the black/grey screen freeze thing an cpu/gpu overheating issue?

All of my drivers are up to date (I do use driver sweeper as well). It happens pretty much in all games, from BFBC2 and TF2 to some crappy kid game my son plays online (Wizard 101?). Im not sure what the temps are under load but at idle they are good (cant recall what exactly they were but were in the proper temp range). My monitor has just finally died as Im typing this on my laptop (bad caps on power board  ) so Ill test the temps while gaming when I can hook it up to my big LCD.
Could the lock up with no blue screen/error report indicate a component overheating?

  • [SOLVED] Virtual Box PUEL causes reboot, seems to be a kernel issue

Edit: this issue has been resolved with VirtualBox version 3.2.12
About 1 - 2 minutes after launching a Windows VM vbox crashes and causes a hard reboot.  I've recompiled the modules and completely reinstalled the package from AUR with no joy.  Below are the package versions and segments of log files that are relatively pertinent to the issue.

I am having a similar issue, I haven't used vbox for a few days, until just now, several upgrades have taken place.
Namely the kernel upgrade and udev come to mind, however after I rebuilt the kernel modules and attempted to use vbox puel it seems to have stopped all events and thrown the laptop on a "loop" type thing. That's the best I can describe it coming from a programming point of view, where it blocks all events until vbox finishes or something it is doing finishes but it never finishes causing me to hard reboot because no key events or mouse events get through(just freezes). Normally in a program I'd just control-c it, for my own that is, and then hunt down the loop, although this loop seems to be at a much deeper level.
Although my issue doesn't happen in any given timeframe, just at a specific point, when it gets to the Windows Logo during the boot after it gets through grub and all of that(I have a dual boot vbox setup).
I was going to post my own bug report here, although since I'm new at this, I'll just share my thoughts in your thread(Hope I'm not breaking any rules or disturbing anyone by posting in your thread, although I didn't see any rules in this forum)
I'm using the same virtualbox_bin version.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 Organizer wont open "DirectX is installed but could not be initialized. Reboot your system and relaunch Organizer"

All of a sudden, I go to open Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and get this message in a box:
"DirectX is installed, but could not be initialized.  Please reboot your system and relaunch Organizer."
Using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, Office 2010 Home and Student on a Dell T3500 workstation with 3.20Ghz Xeon Processor, 12 GB Ram and a 2GB EVGA 650ti Boost graphics card.
The only thing I can think of since the last time I used PSE10 Organizer was the October, 2014 Windows updates were installed.
Any ideas anyone, Adobe seems fairly silent on this issue, and there is not much info out there on this for a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit system.
    Please help.

All Windows OS updates installed, all Norton Internet Security updated daily.
Went to Microsoft to try downloading DirectX just in case that was the problem, and they say you already have the newest version.
Still receive the same message.  I'm at a loss, not sure what to do.

I have similar problems, not only on the front panel either. Basically many power spikes will rattle the card and cause all sorts of problems including the one you mentioned. Advice- power down before connecting or disconnecting anything.

  • Solaris 8 x86: Webstart launcher causes reboot

    Hello,
    My x86 PC has:
    - Elitegroup K7S5A mainboard
    - AMD Athlon K7 XP 2400+ Socket A thoroughbred CPU
    - AmiBIOS
    - 256 MB SDRAM
    - 2 Hard Disks with 40 GB each
There was a resource conflict caused by SiS chipset. However, with a DCA floppy where the ata.bef file was patched, I was able to install the Solaris 8 x86 system successfully.
During installation process, on the question whether there is a network connected to the computer, I checked "No". This is because my network card is not detected by the system and I will investigate on that later.
Now, when I boot the system, the graphical system is coming up, but shortly after that the graphical system is terminated with the following message:
The Webstart launcher has terminated unexpectedly.
The Webstart launcher will restart following a system reboot.
Is there any idea about this error?
    Thank you in advance!
    Thomas

Did you configure the video card to use the "VGA" black&white driver?
B&W video isn't supported with the Webstart installer. You need either a 8-bit pseudo-color or 24-bit
true-color video mode. The workaround is to install in text mode, bypassing the configuration of the video
card when you install from the "1 of 2" CD.
    Or try the following workaround:

  • Could my RAM be causing my problems?

Like many with early build Core Duo MBPs, I have had the fan issues. My unit just returned from Applecare (for the third time) with both fans replaced, and as usual, they removed my TechWorks 1GB RAM, saying it didn't pass their tests. As I understand it, this is standard procedure for non-Apple RAM. The memory has always passed the tests on my unit and is recognized by the computer. My question is, after having Apple remove it three times, could this really be related to my repeated fan failures? It doesn't seem like they could be connected, but I could be wrong. I really don't feel like having to replace the fans again.
    Message was edited by: anthonyhemming

Installed it after the problem started to try to isolate it (speeding them up confirmed that it was a fan issue), but wasn't using it before the problems started. Have not used it since (reformatted before first repair). I still think that seems like a cop out though- should bumping your fan speed a little on a machine that's already designed to keep the fans running constantly really cause a failure, and that quickly? It's not like motors are dying, the housings are apparently coming apart. My three DHL boxes say these are sub-par fans we are dealing with.

  • Could an applescript be causing this

I've got a script which I have been using for three years to renumber raw and jpeg image files (using the Finder) and then using an image converter app I write archiving info to the exif data by creating a new exporter for each jpeg file and overwriting the old JPEG files.
I've been using it with Panther without any problems but recently machines running Tiger have been experiencing some problems.
One such problem is that the HD (start-up drive) begins to fill up only no visible files are being stored the on the HD (image files are burned onto DVD and then deleted from the drive) until finally the computer won't start for lack of drive space. Whatever files are taking up the drive space are invisible. In the last two years a hard drive had to be replaced and now after a year the new drive had to be reformatted (due to lack of space)and the OS reinstalled.
Could an applescript caused anything like this to occur? Has anyone had a similar experience? Apple says that is is due to the system shutting down incorrectly too many times but that doesn't sound right.
It only seems to occur with Tiger.

Anything's possible but without seeing the script its impossible to tell.
There are far more other options, though, when it comes to what's filling up your disk. The fact that you can't see the files hints that it isn't AppleScript.
The commonest cause for this is logging - some rampant process writing lots of log data that isn't getting cleaned up. Tracking down thoe files manualy can be a pain.
You might want to get a copy of Disk Inventory X or What size?, both of which will show you a graphical breakdown of your disk usage, making it easier to find the culprit.
