Upgrading to Yosemite
You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
Upgrading to Yosemite
To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

I purchased today the Adobe Acrobat Professional XI - Upgrade Upgrade - English -  Mac - Download.  Onceiget started it confirms that the my serial number isvalid butthat a qualifying product could not be found on my computer.   I do have Acrobat Professional Pro v8 from 2006 installed on my computer. Anyadviseon how  ican resolve this?

after entering your xi pro serial number the installer checks your computer for that pro v8 product.  failing to find it you will be presented with a menu that allows you to select your qualifying product (pro v8) and you then will be prompted for its (pro v8) serial number.
enter the correct number at the correct time and installation should proceed.

    Hello,
You need to get 10.6 & update to 10.6.8 first to be able to buy it from the App Store & download it.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...
    http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
It's been pulled from the online store, so you have to call Apple to buy it, last I heard, but quick, call before it's gone!
    Call Apple 1-800-MY-APPLE
You have to get 10.6.8 first to go even higher to 10.7 or 10.8

  • How far is it possible to upgrade a Mac Pro mid-2010 to the maximum extract.

    Hello
How far is it possible to upgrade a Mac Pro mid-2010 to the maximum performance. I would be interested how far one could come close to the performance of the new Mac Pro 2013, or is it hopeless.
    My computer
    Mac Pro
    mid-2010
    Processor 2 x 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory 14 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
    Software OS X 10.9.1 (13B42)
Please excuse my english is not the best because.

    For what apps?
Okay, you have the slower 2.4GHz processors, most have found that MHz still rule and matter, meaning a 6-core 3.4GHz for some applications (most) was the best and the sweet spot.
So you could upgrade to a pair of 3.2GHz 4-core (cheapest) rather than splurge on two 6-core 3.34GHz (more expensive and more cores).
First thing to do, put the system on a 256GB Samsung 840 SSD.
For photoshop and graphics, invest in some more SSD ($US300 for 500GB) and put those on a PCIe SSD controller ($300 Sonnet Tempo Pro) and put Aperture/Lightroom on one, and use the 2nd SSD for scratch.
RAM: 24-32GB would probably help all but the more casusalist of user.

  • After upgrading to Mac OS 10.9 My HP Deskjet F4580 all in one printer no longer scans. How can we fix it?

    Hi All,
I recently upgraded to Mac OS 10.9 Mavericks, but now my HP Deskjet F4580 All in one printer will not scan any documents either as PDF or as JPG, how can we fix this?

I have simialr problems, after i scanned the ducuments or pictures, i can save it for only once, but the file is just black pictures with many lines through them. When i try to save it again, then it says ''An error has occurred saving the file because it could not be written to.  Check the properties for the file to make sure it is not read-only.', which then doesn't allow me to do anything of saving the file or even just to print it out.

  • Missing mailboxes: upgraded from Mac OS 10.6.2 to 10.8.4

hi, I upgraded from Mac OS 10.6.2 to 10.8.4 and mailboxes are missing. I tried  using IMPORT - it does not see  those folders which i could easily see using using 10.6.2. Now, the /library/mail folder is not  visible when i use FINDER.
Somebody told me if i hold the OPTION key when using the GO-TO it will see files that have been made invisible - but this does not work on my mac.
    can anybody help?
    many thanks
    david

Holding option doesn't show invisible files.
Holding Option allows access to the Library from the Go menu in Finder.
    Always back up, first.
Check to make sure the mailboxes still exist in the user/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes folder.
If so, you might try removing the Envelope Index from the V2/MailData folder, then start Mail. That will cause it to reindex everything.

  • Upgrade to mac

    Hi,
I'm currently using Adobe CS3 Design Standard on a pc, it's a student version and in german. I'm tired of switching from my mac to pc everytime I need photoshop or indesign that's why I'd like to purchase an upgrade to mac, and if possible an english version. Is that possible and how? Also, how much does it cost (student version)?
    Thanks

CS3 is not eligible for an upgrade.  As of January 2013 the number of versions back that are eligible for upgrades was reduced, so at this time people can only upgrade  if they currently have CS5 or greater.  Prior to January you could have gotten an upgrade for CS3.
Visit the product pages or the software you wish to purchase for information about pricing.

  • Problems Problems after upgrading to Mac OS X Lion

I upgraded my mac os to Lion last week on my Mac air.  After loading, my norton could not work probably. Then last night, files in my start up disk doubled and hence error appeared - that my disk is full while I only used 50% of the storage capacity.
This morning my iphone 4 also appeared to be have the SMS messages and photos and every files also appeared to duplicate itself.
    Can anyone assist ?

After loading, my norton could not work probably.
    Does Norton ever work properly?
Norton is a known troublemaker, and most likely the version you have is incompatible with Lion.  You could try updating Norton, but personally, that's one I'd remove immediately and never come near again.  If you feel you need AV software on your Mac, the only thing I would recommend wholeheartedly is ClamXav.  Sophos' free home AV software would be my second choice, though with some reservations, as I've heard of people having problems with it.
As to the doubling files problem...  can you describe more precisely what you're seeing?  I've never heard of such a problem before.

  • Does anyone know what I need to upgrade from Mac OS 9.1 to Mac OS 10.4??

I have a PowerBook G4 curently running Mac OS 9.1. I was wondering if someone could tell me what I need in order to upgrade to Mac OS 10.4 "Tiger". My processor does not support "leopard" so that is out of question.
    Thanks,
    Josh
PS. If you have know what I need, can you please give me a website where I can find it.
    Thanks Again

You will need to purchase a retail copy of the Tiger installation package. Since Apple no longer sells them you will need to look on the third-party marketplace. Try eBay or FastMac.com. Be sure you get the retail version. It consists of one DVD with a black label and large gray "X". Do not buy gray labeled OEM versions as the are machine specific and may not work. Do not buy an Upgrade disc as they will not work either unless you have a previous version of OS X already installed.
Since you failed to tell us the specific model you have we can't tell whether yours requires a firmware update. If it does it must be installed while booted directly into OS 9.1.
Your computer also must have at least 256 MBs of installed RAM (512 MBs or more is recommended) and at least 6-8 GBs of free space on the hard drive. A 500 MHz CPU or faster is recommended.

  • Upgrading from Mac OS Z1-9.1 to Mac OS X.3.2 using an old G4

    Hi all,
I'm trying to upgrade from Mac OS Z1-9.1 to Mac OS X.3.2 using my spare and old G4.
I have the Installation CD's but for some reason the G4 isn't reading them so i can't update. Do i have to connect to the internet (currently no connection) to upgrade as far as possible first or is this "giant leap" from OS9.1 to OSX.3.2 just not possible in one go..?
    All advice welcome..!

    You're Welcome Shane!
Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
Panther, is no longer available directly from the Apple Online Store, as Tiger 10.4.x is the most up to date OS.
If you know what to look for, a Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, or a Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD, can also be purchased rather inexpensively, at some online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, FastMac, AppleRescue, etc.
Be sure not to again purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
Panther is only on CDs, not DVDs.
Unless purchased from AppleRescue, the discs should look exactly like the images in the above links, and not say Upgrade, or CPU Drop-in DVD, on them.
The discs should also not say "This software is part of a hardware bundle purchase - not to be sold seperately."
Once Panther 10.3.x is installed, you can use the 10.3.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the final version.
If your Mac meets the Tiger System Requirements, you could also consider installing that, and then use the PPC 10.4.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the current version.
    Panther System Requirements
    Additional Panther System Requirements
Additionally, "Tiger ships on a DVD, but if your Mac doesn’t have a built-in DVD-ROM player, you’ll need CD media."
AppleRescue, also sells a Tiger installation set on CD.
Shop Carefully, Examine All Documentation, And I Wish You Success!

  • I have upgraded my mac air to Loin and after that my machine is too slow and stucks like windows any help?

I have upgraded my mac air to loin 10.7.2 and after the upgrade it is slow any suggestions?

If you made a backup before installing lion, now would be a good time to restore that backup.... Ok, well you can always boot into lion recovery menu.... shut down your mac, hold down the option key and restart your computer..... Select recovery from the disk startup menu and go to disk utility... select the OSX disk, you can try repairing your permissions and repairing the disk.... If you lucky enough, it will fix it.... If not, and you have a decent internet connection, click the reinstall LION OSX after exiting disk utility. Your mac will now REDOWNLOAD LION OSX and reinstall it.... did you happen to make a backup before?
Also, did your mac originally have Leopard? Just curious... Because LION is entirely 64bit now where as Snow leopard had support for 32 bit as well, but the problem may be that some of your older apps where 32 bit.... This is just a guess though I'm not sure.... Because I've had numerous problems and crashes with my CS 4 stuff and final cut pro 7 and aperature.... Not sure if it's totally related to the whole 64 bit thing, but the thing is that the crashes are only occuring on my 32 bit apps.... otherwise the computer runs great.... To remedy, I had previously made an OSX lion USB drive so that I could do a fresh install of LION. I backed up all my data and files, installed a new SSD and my Macbook is SCREAAAAAAMING fast.... Sorry about the gloating but I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of your problem....

  • If I upgrade to Mac OS X Lion will I lose Applications/Documents/etc.

I was wondering if I upgrade to Mac OS X Lion tomorrow, will my applications and all the documents that are saved on my computer be there after the upgrade? I do not have money to buy an external hard drive right now to do the back up, so will I be safe without it?

    Hi,
    Look at it this way...
If you have a Backup and (for whatever reason) Something goes Horrible Wrong.. You have Lost Nothing...
Without a Backup... You could Lose Everything....
Not a Nice Thought At All...
So take all the Advice already Offered and Backup... Backup... Backup...
    And then Upgrade your OS...
    Just my 2 cents worth...
    Cheers,

  • Upgrade to Mac Leopard?

    Hey!
I'm about to purchase a Mac Powerbook and I was on the Apple site and noticed the new page on the Mac OS X Leopard. I was wondering if I get a Mac now with Tiger, could I upgrade to Leopard in a relativly inexpensive way?
Or should I just wait till the spring of next year when it somes standard?
    Thanks for any help!
    -Allie

Hi, Allie. Welcome to the Discussions.
Leopard is not scheduled to be released until Spring 2007. How these things will be handled under Leopard will not be known until then. Here's a rough outline of how things have worked in the past:
    • New major versions of Mac OS X — Jaguar, Panther, Tiger — have included an Upgrade installation option that permits one to install the new OS atop the existing version of Mac OS X. New major versions have generally cost US$129.00.
    • When Apple released a new major versions of Mac OS X, those who purchased new Macs within a short period of time prior to the release of the latest OS — usually within 30 days if memory serves —  could request "Update" discs to upgrade the version of Mac OS X that shipped on their Mac to the latest version of the OS. I can't recall if the Update discs were free or required a nominal media and shipping charge, e.g. $19.95 plus local taxes if applicable. Again, Update discs were only available to those who purchased new Macs in a short period of time prior to Apple shipping the new OS.
Whether these practices will apply in the future remains to be seen: none but Apple knows, nor will anyone know until Apple releases the information around the time Leopard ships.
If you need a Mac today, buy it. If you don't and can wait, then you may want to wait until after Leopard has officially shipped to order a new Mac.
    Good luck!
