Could I use a second HDD in my Qosmio F50-108

Could I set a second HDD in my Qosmio F50-108...
What should I be careful of?
What HDD should I buy?
Thanks...........
Message was edited by: dpasinis

I doubt this is possible.
As Im not mistaken the F50-108 belongs to the PQF55E series and checking this model series I found and info that this notebook supports a 320GB (5400rpm) SATA HDD but it doesnt support the second HDD.
However, I would recommend checking the bottom of the unit. If there is an possibility for an HDD upgrade then you should find a second HDD bay with an HDD SATA connector.

  • Can I use a second HDD in Satellite P300-27x?

    Hello,
is it possible to install a second harddisc in Satellite P300-27x? Is there a connector?
    Thx...

    Hi,
so my question has not been answered yet. Once again:
is it possible to use a second HDD in P300-27x???
    Is there a second Sata-connector?
No, i can`t look inside, because i haven`t one. I would like to change my notebook (P300-20w, it is LOUD cause of GPU), but i need to know if it`s possible to use a second hdd in this model.
Maybe someone can give me an answer?
    Thx

  • Satellite A200-1S5 - Can I use a second HDD and RAID?

    Hi all,
Is Toshiba Satellite A200-1S5 eligible for adding a second hard drive? It has RAID controller as far a I know - could it help?
    Thanks,
    Denis

The Satellite A200-1S5 does NOT support RAID!!!
But some A200 could use two HDDs (but NOT RAID!!!) There are different A200 models which supports different hardware specifications.
Therefore you can find the second bay at the bottom of the unit.
But if there is no connector for second HDD then this means that there is no second HDD controller and you cannot use second HDD in this A200!!!

  • Can I use the second HDD in a Mini for Time Machine?

I am looking to replace one of the HDDs in a Mac Mini with an SSD, this would be for the main OS to work on and all my files, I am not a big advocate of spreading around my files over multiple data silos. I was wondering then, as I don't have a Time Capsule, whether it would be possible to dedicate the second HDD for exclusive use of Time Machine, backing everything up?
I don't have a Mini at the moment and so don't know how OS X treats the existing setup, is the HD treated as one, or are the two clearly separate? It's a mystery to me why there are two in the first place, I summise that it was an attempt by Apple to create the illusion of a fater computer by adding in a small amount of SSD to complement the larger (and cheaper) HDD?
Anyway, would splitting the two work and would it be easily achievable with existing tools in OS X?
    Thanks.

Yes, you can use the 2nd HDD with Time Machine as your TM back up drive.
As long as you are able to format your new SSD and the HDD, you can use them independently. I would advise using Terminal and the diskutil commands to do this as Mountain Lion 10.8.3's GUI Disk Utility will see the SSD and HDD as needing to be "fixed" (drives marked in RED) and if you choose to FIX the drives your two drives will automatically be setup as a Fusion drive and all data on the drives will be lost.

  • Satellite Pro P300-26U - Can I use a second HDD?

Satellite P300 family support raid0 and double HDD. All model? User manual of 26U don't say any word about this. Model like P300-1BP has double HDD.
Can someone help me? I want to buy a P300-26U in Italy.
    Thanks.
    Guido

    Hi
The Satellite P300 series doesnt support RAID!
There is NO RAID controller on the motherboard.
But you are right; the Satellite Pro P300-BP supports 2 HDDs but this does not meant that it would support RAID!
Furthermore you should know that P300 series supports different hardware specifications.
This means that not all P300 would be able to use 2 HDDs!!!
It could be possible that Satellite Pro P300-26U is not able to use 2 HDDs even though the Satellite Pro P300-BP support 2 HDDs.

  • I could really use a second set of eyes on this VPN config. :)

    Hi all,
I am attempting to setup a client -> server VPN using IOS 12.4, and Cisco Client 5.x. At this point, the client does connect, however, I cannot ping, or send / receive data over the VPN.  I am initially attempting a split-tunnel config, as they seem easier.  Ideally, the client would route *all* data over the VPN including that which is destined for the public network in the interest of safe browsing remotely.  However, I haven't got that far yet.
Currently, I have a network setup as:
FastEthernet0/0 - Public network via DHCP from ISP.
    FastEthernet0/1 - Internal network on the 192.168.1.0 /24 network.
I currently have a NAT overload on FastEthernet0/0 so that internal hosts can browse the Internet.  As mentioned, I would also like to have remote VPN hosts browse the Internet via this same overload.
Below is my config in full with some parts redacted.  Please let me know what I am doing wrong for this split-tunnel setup, and any suggestions to get this working in a non-split-tunnel way would be great.  I have been working on this for 2 days, and all the tutorials and guides I've read do not seem to work for me.
    Thanks!

I apologize I'm thick here.  So, I need to remove the line I added on the access-list.  So access-list 101 would just be:
    access-list 101 permit 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255 any
Which should pass the split-tunneling route to the client.
I then need to add a line to prevent nat from occurring from my internal (192.168.1.0/24) network to the VPN network which is (10.1.254.0/24).  I would also need to add a  new access-list to that effect.  However, I should keep the existing nat line in order to ensure that internal nework machines can reach the public network so:
no ip nat inside source list 102 interface FastEthernet0/0 overload
ip nat inside source list 10 interface FastEthernet0/0 overload
    access-list 102 permit 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255 10.1.245.0 0.0.0.255
    Is this correct?
    Thanks again for your help!

  • Can I use iMac's HDD as a second, bootable drive for new PC?

When I replace an old PC with a new PC, I always keep the old HDD around in case I need to boot into it for some reason. I simply plug it in, select it as the boot drive, and it's sort of like using my old PC again.
Can I also do this with my iMac's HDD and a new PC? So I could effectively dual boot between my existing Windows OS on my PC's SSD, and OSX using my old iMac's HDD?
When I do this with two HDDs each using Windows, all the drivers for the new hardware "plug-and-play" the first time I boot with the old HDD, so input and display works. I'm not sure if I'll have the same luxury in this scenario or if I'd need to pre-load new drivers so OSX works with the PC's hardware. My iMac has a AMD (well it was still ATI back in 2009) Radeon HD 4850. I had this same card in an old PC so I would hope the display would still work as well, or worst case scenario I could simultaneously use the iMac HDD with the Radeon 4850 in a PC.
I have a lot of computers sitting around and I'm moving soon, so I want to consolidate what I can so I don't have to take so much with me when I move. My iMac's display is no good (barely functional, definitely not pretty) so I don't want to keep the big iMac around anymore if I can just keep the little HDD.
Of course I back up important files and can always read the HDD from a PC, but I'm interested in seeing if I can still use the drive for booting into OSX.
I'm sure someone's tried to do this before, but my searches turned up with nothing. I'll greatly appreciate any guidance, suggestions, or general thoughts about how I could achieve this. I don't mind getting my hands dirty if a solution exists but isn't simple. Thanks in advance for your input!

Hi, are you talking about removing the drive from the iMac to use in a PC?
If your talking about booting the PC into OSX, then google hackintosh.

  • Re: Satellite X200 - Second HDD connector

    Hi...
I bought Toshiba X200 last year.
My problem there isnt any connector in my second hard disk slot. like this http://img257.imageshack.us/my.php?image=10112007572fh4.jpg
But in some models have connector. http://img256.imageshack.us/my.php?image=21269219uk7.jpg
    I guess I need a thing like this. http://img212.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hpcaddydv9000connectorakg0.jpg
Have can I find and is it work well?
    Thanks.

Sorry buddy but I think if you dont have a second HDD connector you cant use a second HDD.
Furthermore its not possible to add such a HDD connector.
If you need more disk space you must exchange the first HDD or you use an external HDD to save your files on it.

  • Can i put in second HDD into Satellite A300-1EG

    Hello,
The question is can i put in second HDD to Toshiba A300-1EG notebook, there is a place for one as I found, and what HDD should it be, i mean 2,5" and etc?
As I read, there can be no connection for HDD, all depends on model, how can I found out?
    Thanks.

    Hi
    You can check this yourself.
Remove the plastic cover which secures the second HDD bay.
If there are some HDD connectors then you could install an second HDD.
If the connectors are missing, then you will not be able to use second HDD.
I know its a little but confusing because of the second HDD bay but the point is that different A300 models supports different motherboards and not all motherboards are equipped with two HDD controllers.

  • Satellite P205-S6337 - Can I install another second HDD?

Totally need another HDD for music/other files.
Really don't want to buy a dock such as.. http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/drives/a7ea/.
Is it possible that I can install a second SATA HD on this notebook?
I'm not too good with working with notebooks really.
Anyone have any instructions on how i would do this?
And how to install another GB of ram?
I have both on my old notebook.

    Hi
Did you check your user manual?
Usually the user manual provides already such infos.
Im not quite sure if an second HDD could be possible. Check bottom of the unit.
Some series are equipped with a second HDD bay. You could try to remove the plastic cover which secures such HDD bay and could check if there are some HDD connectors which would make the second HD upgrade possible.
It seems that this notebook was also equipped with 2GB RAM So it could be possible to upgrade the RAM up to 4GB. But in my opinion its really not necessary to have 4GB RAM inside if you are using the Windows 32bit OS.
The point is that your 32bit OS can use max 3.2GB RAM due to the 32bit limitation.
So if you want to upgrade the RAM then I would recommend taking 1x 1GB and 1x 2GB RAM module.

  • I need to plug second HDD in Satellite A300-14V

    Hello!
I am using A300-14V and now I need to install second HDD. But 2.5 HDDs have different height from 9.5mm to 12.5mm which one right for my Satellite A300? And I will need to buy also a slide rails.
Could somebody please clarify that it is and give me its part number?
    Thanks.

    Hi!
    > I have a second HDD connector but I have not something to fix HDD on the place which is called a fixing rail or slide rail
For this contact the nearest ASP. They can order all necessary parts to fix the HDD in the second HDD bay.
On the Toshiba website you can search for an ASP:

  • SECOND hdd

    Hi,
is a possible to have two HDD in notebook HP350 g1 F7Y79EA#BCM. I want to add second hdd SSD  to make more faster my ntb.
    Thank you
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi:
I just bought a 350 g1 and opened the drive bay.
You cannot add a second notebook hard drive but you could add an mSata drive in the empty mSata slot and use it as storage or a cache.
You will not be able to boot from the mSata drive.
I would just remove the primary drive and replace it with a SSD.

  • Could I have damaged my hdd for unadequate ventilation?

Hi, anyone thinks I could have damaged the internal HDD of mi mid 2011 mac mini by having papers/magazines on top of it while using? my HDD is not responding or restoring either and windows PC does not recognizes it now that I have taken it out of the mini and put in on an enclosure.
I had updated OSx to mountain lion (lion was on it originally) so I don't know if that can make your hdd work harder than the original OSx on the mini when purchased.
At first it got slow while playing games like bejeweled and stuff like that but one day it just didn't boot, and tried several times to restore it but it kept failing. So I have taken it out of the mini and try to use an external enclosure to format it but windows 7 doesn't show it on the explorer.
I have screwed up another hdd for a dell inspiron laptop before and the only explanation I can think of is maybe overheating because mi mac mini didn't had proper ventilation (I mean, nothing on top or besides it in the desktop) so I'm starting to think that maybe that happened again.
If i remember correctly I ran hardware diagnostics once but it didin't said anything was wrong except for the hdd that needed to be fixed and after that I tried to format but it didn't respond.
I used my mini for garageband recording, casual games and the usual internet/social network stuff... so if I get a new hdd I may get something a bit faster (came with 500 GB 5400 RPM HDD, I'm thinking of 7200 RPM) to improve garageband responsiveness.

According to Google Laboratories test of hard drive failure, the largest test of hard drive reliabiity to date (which you can download here) many accepted truisms about hard drive failure factors are simply not true. Perhaps the greatest surprise was the fact that excessive heat was NOT a significant factor in drive failure. So it is unlikely you caused the failure becasue of running the drive too hot. That said and the Google Labs test aside I prefer to keep my drives well ventilated and use enclosures that do a good job of conducting heat away from the mechanism.

  • Using a second display

I just purchased a 15" Powerbook and have attached a 23" Cinema Display. I have several questions:
Is it possible to turn off the second display without physically detaching it from the PB?
Is it possible to turn off the PB screen and just use the second display? (I know about getting a second keyboard and keeping the PB closed.)
When I have the two displays in "mirror" mode, I am not getting a full screen on the second display when i use the highest resolution on the second display. Is there a way to correct this and still maintain the highest resolution on the second display?
    Thank you very much.

    Hi cerett --
I have to preface my responses by saying I don't have a second display attached to my PowerBook. That said, I think I can answer the first two of your three questions. Here goes:
    • Is it possible to turn off the second display without physically detaching it from the PB?
I think your 23" ACD has a power button, right? If so, why can't you just power down the ACD if you want to turn it off without physically detaching it from the PB.
Alternatively, and this also goes to my answer to your second question, you could turn down the brightness to the point where the screen is totally dark. Now, this doesn't seem like an ideal solution by any means, because you'd still have power running to the ACD for no reason, but it would seem to accomplish what you want anyway.
    • Is it possible to turn off the PB screen and just use the second display? (I know about getting a second keyboard and keeping the PB closed.)
You write that you already know how to use your PowerBook with the display closed. See: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86286 So, it sounds like you would like to leave your PB open, but just not have the display on. If so, it seems to me you could just decrease the brightness (using the F1 key or, of course, System Preferences > Displays > Display) to the maximum extent possible so that they display goes totally dark. May not be an ideal option (see above analysis), but it would seem that it should work for you.
Sorry, but I can't help with your third question. I'm not sure, but you might increase your chances of getting the information you need, if you reposted that third question in the Apple Cinema Displays forum, here -- http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=981 -- as the answer to this question may have more to do with the characteristics of the ACD than of the PB. I'd wait to see if someone comes along here first, and, if not, then repost there.
    Good luck.

  • Using a second Mac

I now have 2 Macs. I seem to recall that I can load my copy of Aperture on both (vs buying a second license) and wonder if this is true. Also, as my copy is an upgrade from V1.0 would I first need to load version 1 on the new computer and then upgrade?

Good question as I was wondering about that myself. I was planning on purchasing a new macbook in the fall and would like to intall Aperture on it as well.
These two statements from the eula seem contradictory:
+*2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions.*+
+B. Single User License. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on one Apple-labeled desktop computer and one Apple-labeled laptop computer so long as both computers are owned and used by you.+
+C. This License does not allow the Apple Software to exist on more than one computer at a time, and you may not make the Apple Software available over a network where it could be used by multiple computers at the same time.+
As I read it section B reads it can be used on one desktop AND on one laptop. (Notice it says and rather than or.) Section C however reads it cannot exist on more than one computer at a time.
Anyone care to clarify what it's really saying?
