Could macbook starts without battery by using adapter as power source!!??

Hi all
I have macbook black early 2008 model. My battery is damaged as it falls in water.
I have experienced that If the adapter is plugged with macbook and macbook is on and then i remove the battery ...its remain on...
My question is this that could macbook starts without battery using the power adapter as power source.
Thanks
Regards
Abdul Azeez

Yes it will start and run. The downside is your MacBook will run slower and if you accidentally pull out the plug it will shut off immediately and you'll lose any work that hasn't been saved. I suggest replacing the battery when you can.

I performed a time machine backup without plugging my labtop into a power source. My computer died and all the settings were changed, ie the clock and date were changed back to 2001. So I tried to restore my computer using a previous time machine backup. (which I now know was wrong). However, when time machine tried to restore it said there was not enough room to do a backup. It seems that it did a half backup because some essential  files such as system profiler are now missing. Can I undo this restore...? What can I do to fix this

You need to do a full system restore, per Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #14.
If that sends a message, please note the exact wording.

  • My laptop won't start without battery mounted

Hello! I have a Compaq CQ61-200sq laptop and recently my battery just got "old". So for the time untill i will buy a new one a just took it out and try to use the laptop without battery, just with the AC adaptor pluged in. But, just i said it won't start if i don't mount the battery. If i took the battery out while it's on there is no problem.
So, my question, beside what could be the problem, is if the problem will disapear with a new battery. I don't want to buy a new battery and still have problems.
    Thank you!

I updated it about two to three times and would still experience the same problem.
Why update 3 times?!? If you run an update, and it installs normally, that it - done!
There's a world of difference between running BatteryUpdate 1.2 and installing a new battery. In fact, if you read the linked page above, it states that the after you run battery update if you experience any of the listed problems you should contact AppleCare. Their first step will be to replace the battery. Could it be a logic board problem? Sure. Is that the first thing they'll do? No. By that reasoning, the first thing to try if your car fails to start on a cold morning is to put in a new engine...
So, to the OP, contact Apple - or better yet, if it's convenient, go in to an Apple Store. Get a new battery. If the problem persists, go from there. The advantage of taking it into a Store is that they'll test it on the spot.

  • Can I charge the battery in my iPod using the iPad power source?

Is it possible or safe to charge the battery in my iPod shuffle, using my iPad power supply.

Probably not, especially since the connector on the iPad is not "powered" meaning that it does not power anything. Moreover, I doubt you could find a connector that would work.

can you please tell me whats wrong with my mbp and how do i resolve it

First check the connections on the power adapter and the MBP.  Make certain that they are clean and see if the spring loaded connectors on the power adapter are not stuck.
    Try a SMC reset:

If available, try another power adapter.
If no success, bring the MBP and the power adapter to an Apple store genius bar for a free evaluation.

is it something i can fix by myself and how

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Okay to use MacBook Pro without battery?

Now I fully understand that it is not such a great idea but I wanted to get some opinions: It's my third NuPower battery. All of them have lasted less than a year and failed pretty bad. This one started bulging quite bad and then I couldn't use the trackpad click button anymore (because it was putting pressure on the trackpad / button.) I took it out and the battery started expanding even outside the laptop! I don't consider myself a rough user. I do occasionally reccaliberate the battery per Apple, make sure I raise the laptop off the table etc. to let air pass under. Currently I am overseas and many Apple resellers do not carry the battery in stock. So I have ordered the battery from Amazon. In the mean time, I am using the MacBook Pro directly hooked up to the 240V outlet with the Apple supplied adapter.
I have heard a few people do this in emergencies. But what say you?! Unlike the US 120V, it's 240 Volts here in India! Somehow I felt better with the battery being there to absorb the jolts! but I have had no issues so far - two days. The Mac wakes up, runs, sleeps fine without a hiccup! I am taking extra care not to trip the extra-easy MagSafe adapter
Has anyone done this? Any direct adverse effects caused by running it straight from the outlet without the battery?

  • Using lighter adapter as power source safe for MBP?

Hi everyone,I had a question about lighter adapters for cars and using my MBP with them. I'm scheduled for a 14 hour road trip on Thursday and have a lot of work to do that requires more than the three hour battery life that I get from my Mac. My brother has a lighter adapter that acts as a "wall outlet" in that you can connect your AC supplies to it, etc. This is all well known probably. But my question is this, is it safe to use these adapters (I don't want to blow up my computer or mess up the battery) and does anyone have any experience with them?
    Thanks in advance.

I don't know what a magsafe is. My wife bought this for another purpose: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=122461
Can I plug my MacBook Pro power cord into it and use in the car? Or do I need to go to a mac store and buy something from them?

  • Want to install Windows 7 to my Mac with Boot Camp, but my laptop's monitor is broken. How could I start the Windows installation through an HDMI video source?

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to start a bootcamp installation of Windows 7 though an external monitor using HDMI. Is there anyway to have the installation screen show up on the external monitor? I get stuck at the beginning of the installation due to not being able to use my laptop's primary screen.
    Thanks for the help!

Unless you have a 2010 Mini Server model, your Mini has a built-in Optical drive (Mac mini (Mid 2010) - Technical Specifications).
Can you read the Windows Installer media when booted on OSX? Your DVD media may be corrupt.
If your Optical Drive is functional AND the Windows DVD is readable in OSX Finder, then your installer should work. You will need a USB2  for BC drivers as well.

I need to use the liveview for continous use for the camera. The camera needs to last 3 to 5 hours at a time. Is there a way to get around just battery use?

The adapter is a dummy module shaped to fit into the battery compartment, but has a cord (a small rubber flap at the edge of the battery door flips open to make room for the power cord.)  It runs off AC power.

  • Battery meter stuck at 100% Power Source: Power Adapter even when unplugged

For the past few days my Macbook Pro has been saying it's plugged in even when it is not. The battery meter stays at 100% even though the battery is draining. The other day it died while I was using it and gave no warning that the battery was low. The battery meter on the side seems to show the correct battery level, however.
Is there any way that I can reset whatever runs the battery meter?

    Reset the System Management Controller:

If that doesn't correct it and you still have waranty coverage, take the machine in for service.

  • Am I the only one who can sync without plugging in to a power source ?

After upgrading our 2 iPhone 4's to iOS5, and with Lion 10.7.2 I have found I can sync to iTunes WITHOUT them being connected to a power source.
Am I missing something here ?  When we open up iTunes, the phones show up in the sidebar, and when we press sync, then they sync .... every time, no problem.

OK, that's great .... I must have misread things. I could have sworn I saw a line which said that the phone neededto be plugged in to a power source (or so I thought).
Now I've read it again, I believe that just applies to the automatic syncing.  Excuse me for wasting your time.
Anyway, everything seems to be working fine with both phones.
