Could not capture screen shot, camera stop working

Hi,
I have the iPhone original. Yesterday, it stopped save image to album. I could not take screen shot (home + PowerOn button). It gave me the "click" sound, but the image was not in album. Camera did not save photo to album either. I have enough disk space on the iphone. Anyone knows why?
Thanks,
ff

I had this same problem twice with both of my old iPhones and this solution worked for me both times:

Friends,
I've found a solution to the problem. This might actually be a solution to hundreds of problems with the iPhone. Apparently there are "system" files that get backed up to the computer -- including SMS discussion history, notes, wireless network history, and other information. When the iPhone is restored from one of these backups, it is possible to have corrupted system files restored along with the problems they create.
METHOD #1 -- LEAST DESTRUCTIVE
1. Synchronize iPhone. This also creates a backup of the notes and other items that don't get synchronized anywhere else.
2. Go to Settings, General, Erase All Content and Settings
3. Once complete, connect the phone and synchronize with iTunes
4. Choose to restore from the recent backup to recover your notes, SMS history, and iPhone settings as well as data that is normally synchronized. Your problems may be gone.
METHOD #2 -- YOU WILL LOSE NOTES, SMS HISTORY, AND OTHER SETTINGS
If the first method didn't work, try this procedure.
1. Synchronize iPhone. This also creates a backup of the notes and other items that don't get synchronized anywhere else.
2. Go to Settings, General, Erase All Content and Settings
3. Once complete, connect the phone and synchronize with iTunes
4. Choose NOT to restore from the recent backup. As you continue, you will lose notes, SMS history, and iPhone settings as well as data that is normally synchronized. However, corrupted system files (such as the internal camera roll files) will be replaced with fresh non-corrupted versions and everything should work.
Method #2 above worked for me. I needed to re-assign personalized ring tones, enter Wireless network passwords again, setup my wallpaper, and do a few other things, but at least the iPhone camera was working again!
It seems that Method #2 (phone reset and loose all settings) is the best way to resolve issues with corrupted system files.
Good luck! I hope this helps.

  • Front and back cameras stopped working after IOS 8 update

My front and back cameras both stopped working after i updated my phone to the IOS 8 software. Does anyone know why this would happen or any way of fixing it?

    Hi VictoriaViking,
Not sure why your cameras stopped working with the update, or what the exact symptom is (black screen, no response...), but please check out the Camera troubleshooting section of this article.  (I know some don't apply to your issue.)
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
    Take care,
    Nubz

  • Capture Screen Shot not working in Full Motion

I am trying to use Full Motion Recording to capture mouse
movement, while also manually capturing screen shots. The screen
shots are not being captured though. I've tried the default Print
Screen key, and also resetting it to the Down key, with no success.
I can capture the screen shots when Full Motion Recording is not
    active.
The information in the Help files and Knowledgebase seem to
indicate that it's possible to manually capture screens while
recording full motion. Any suggestions about what could be going
    wrong?
    Thanks.

Hi LisaLouLou and welcome to our community
I think the help may be misleading you here. If you are
recording by using the total “Full Motion Capture”,
Captivate ignores the Print Screen key because you have told it
that the entire project is to be recorded using Full Motion. Hence,
there is no slide by slide based recording as there is using the
    other options.
After you have recorded, you are free to insert blank slides,
then add images as needed in case that helps.
    Cheers... Rick

4th Generation iPod: camera stopped working; I touch the icon, the screen goes blank navy blue. What do I do?

Have you tried closing the Camera app completely and seeing if it works when you re-open the app ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Camera 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Camera app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

    Hi there Fgonzalez2015,
You may find the camera troubleshooting steps in the article below helpful.
Get help with the camera on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
You see a closed lens or black screen
If you see a closed lens or black screen when you open the Camera app, try these steps:
Make sure that there’s nothing blocking the camera lens. If you’re using a case, try removing it.
Force the app to close, then open the Camera app again.
Restart your device, then open the Camera app again.
If your device has a front and rear camera, try both cameras by tapping the camera swap icon . If you see the closed lens or black screen on only one camera, take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Authorized Service Provider for more help.

  • My camera stopped working, I get a blank screen. Does anyone know how to fix this?

My ipad3 is a couple of months old and the camera stopped working. When I select the camera app I get a blank screen. I can't do anything but close the app. Has anyone else experienced this? How can I correct?
    Thanks,
    Jojora

When you say that you can close it are you closing the app this way?
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button when you are done.

  • I have iPhone 5S after updating to IOS 7.1.1 my camera stopped working!!!!

After updating to IPS 7.1.1 my camera stopped working, it's just a black screen.

    Hello Darth Evans,
The troubleshooting steps below can help get your iPhone's camera working again.
Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality

Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

  • My iPhone's speaker next to the frontal camera stopped working what can I do?

So since today my frontal speaker next to the frontal camera stopped working and I've been having problems where when I open the camera it reboots I just haven't had time to restore to fix the corrupted file could this be responsible for my speaker not working? I have to use the loud speaker to make a phone call or I won't hear anything if I don't restore will this cause permanent damage to my phone? Plead help! Thanks!

Hello tmsipos11! That certainly sounds like an aggravating thing to occur! At this point, I recommend making sure that your iPhone 4s has the most recent software. The next upgrade is available now! If you've done so and yet still have this problem, please let me know!

  • Camera stops working in Lumia 620

I have a Lumia 620 from more than a year. The camera stops working three days ago without reasons, because I hadn't installed or uploaded anything. Today I uploaded the phone at Windows 8.1, hoping it could solve my problem, but it actually didn't. I press the camera button and it crashes and if I use some app that require the camera, the screen stays black without showing anything.
There is anything I could do?

In addition to what @adrianhughes has advised, you can also try to uninstall and re-install those other cameraapplications that you have on the phone.
