Could not complete backup; network username and password wrong....help!
I've been using the Time Capsule just fine for my automated Time Machine backups, until recently when they stopped working. I finally checked into it today, and it tries for about 10 seconds, then says "Time Machine could not complete backup. The network backup disk could not be accessed because there was a problem with the network username and password." I hadn't changed any of the settings, so I don't know why it would do this. So I totally erased the Time Capsule, set it to factory settings, gave it all new passwords and what not, created a whole new wireless network, etc... and still it's doing the same thing. Take a look at the screenshot to see what I mean.
Any help here would be appreciated.
Thank You.
Ok
Go to Applications -> Utilities -> Keychain Access. Look for an item named the same as your Time Capsule, and it will say 'Base Station Password" (or something like that), and delete it (just select it, and press delete on your keyboard)
Now when you try to connect to your Time Capsule for a backup, it will prompt for the password. Enter the password that you set just before.
Let me know if you have any more trouble.

Configuration could not be verified - My username and password are correct!
I am trying to add a second gmail account to Thunderbird, but without success. The first addition went flawlessly.
Now that I'm attempting the second, I am confronted with the error message "Configuration could not be verified - is the username or password wrong?"
Answer = no. I have verified them by logging into gmail.com with IE several times, and made sure to log out afterwards to ensure no conflict. I do not use two-step verification with either accounts. I have tried to 'fool' google's email servers by capitalizing the outgoing SMTP letters (so as to differentiate from the previous login smtp letters), but thunderbird does not permit capitalization.
I have not found any other *solved* forum posts that can help me with this problem. I'm running Windows 8.1 and Thunderbird 31.2.0.
This is a call for help.Same problem for me, too. It happens on my iPad, iPhone, and iMac. Weird because I have great Internet connectivity and I can log into and view my iTunes account. I've downloaded three new apps with no problem. But my iPad shows 14 apps needing updates, my iPhone shows 2, and my iMac shows 1. In all cases, clicking on "update" and entering the password results in the message, "Cannot connect to iTunes Store". It's the same result across multiple WiFi networks, even after resetting them.
I'll see if someone at the Genius Bar can help and then I will repost. -
Since updating OS to Mountain Lion from leopard, I get the following error message when trying to backup with time machine on external drive. "Could not complete backup to media share. The network backup disk does not support the required AFP features." What are AFP features and how do I get Time Machine to backup to my current external backup?
This means that your NAS does not support the required encryption. Update your NAS to the latest firmware or ditch it and buy a Time Capsule (they are the most reliable when using TM).

I am unable to backup my iphone 5 iOS 6.0.1 (connected directly to laptop USB) with my itunes 11 for Win 7 64bits. The process starts and fails to complete giving the error: itunes could not complete backup of iphone because iphone disconnected.
I have restarted the PC, the iphone, changed the lightining cable and nothign resolves it: backup never completes.Hi, I disabled the antivirus and the firewall. Same result
I even deleted the backup folder inside C:\Users\...\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup to eliminate any corruption in the old backup files.
Nothing changed: Session either times out or i get the same error message: itunes could not back up iphone because iphone disconnected. It always happens during step 3 out of 4 which is "transfering purchased apps from iphone to PC" and comes after step 2 which is backup.
My iphone 5 is not jailbroken, and is a factory unlocked phone.
Any other suggestion?

My Time Machine is not backing up and gives me this error report:
The backup disk image "/Volumes/Data/Valarie'siMac.sparsbundle" is already in use

Have OS 10.7.5. Computer off three days and now message comes that Time Machine could not complete backup because the "/volumes/PH's timecapsulPro.sparsebundle" is already in use. Whats that about?
Two Solutions for "sparse bundle already in use" Error
Simple solution (from Bob Timmons):
1. Make sure that no other Macs are backing up the Time Capsule at the time
2. Pull the power cord from the back of the Time Capsule
3. Count to ten
4. Plug the power cord back into the back of the Time Capsule
If Simple doesn't work:
The Backup disk image ... sparsebundle ... is already in use. -
Do you understand this error message? Time machine could not complete backup because it says a (filename).sparesbundle is already is in use.
What is the sparsebundle extension?See here...
The Backup disk image ... sparsebundle ... is already in use.

EBS 7.3 "Could not authenticate this user name and password, try again"
I have just install Sun StorEdge Enterprise Backup Software 7.3 on a new Solaris 10 (06/06) system. I have installed the following packages with no errors: SUNWebsc (Client), SUNWebsn (Storage Node), SUNWebss (Server), SUNWebsm (Man pages) and SUNWebsg (Console).
I have executed the nsraddadmin command for both root and administrator.
I start the web browser with http://<hostname>:9000 and the java software loads with no errors. But when I try to login for the first time with administrator/administrator, I get the follow error:
ERROR: Could not authenticate this user name and password, try againI think the client is not able to do a HTTP POST
to the WLS server but it can do a HTTP GET.
I dont know why.

Hi,
I deployed a rpc web service using WLS 7.0 SP2 in HP-UX 11 environment.When I
invoke the web service through my browser (IE 6.0) using the web servicesurl,
it brings my service method correctly. From there, if I click the invokebutton
it asks me for a network user name and password under "weblogic" realm???If I
provide the admin user credentials (which I supplied while creating mydomain)
it is not accepting that it keeps popping up this network user passwordwindow
over and over. Not sure which username/password I have to provide here tosee
the result of my service.
If I try to invoke the web service through my client (static) I am gettinga connection
refused exception. I guess either way, I am not able to access my webservice.
In the attached file, I have cut and pasted the client stack trace as wellas
the server log trace from weblogic.
Any ideas would be highly appreciated.
Thanks,

WEIRD "Time Machine could not complete Backup" error
So this started back in Leopard 10.5.
I used Time machine once and didn't like it so I turned it off and unhooked the external drive.
Ever since that time, I get a Time Machine could not complete Backup error window that pops up every 2 hours or so it seems.
I updated to Snow Leopard and still got this problem all the way up to 10.6.8.
I have now updated to Lion and I STILL get this stupid annoying error.
My TM is OFF and there are no drives selected anywhere.
What should I do ?Very true, I didn't even tink about that... but.....
I did have TimeMachineEditor but it was already set to OFF.
I also had another program (Time Machine Scheduler) that was also set to off.
****, I would have loved it to be that !!! -

How to make dyn/admin not to prompt for username and password?
Hello all
How to make dyn/admin not to prompt for username and password? I am writing a selenium job to automate cache invalidation to load test a production issue we are facing. Selenium is opening a fresh firefox session and prompting for username and password every time. I am also trying to modify my script such that it will use the same session again and not prompt for username and password. But I thought of asking this question in the group.
Your inputs will help a lot.
Thanks,
SundarHi,
You can set enabled property of /atg/dynamo/servlet/adminpipeline/AuthenticationServlet/ to false. It will not prompt for authentication.

Safari 5.0 will not prompt to remember username and passwords
Safari 5.0 will not prompt to remember username and passwords for new sites I joined. It will remember the old ones but not the new. Under Safari< preferences> the autofill in all 3 places is checked. A box used to drop down when joining the site for the first time and say... Save Never Not Now.
Now nothing happens. Anyone got any suggestions?
ThanksHi,
Go to ~/Library/Preferences and move the com.apple.keychainaccess.plist file to the Trash.
Restart your Mac.
If that didn't help, open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities) Select Passwords on the left.
Delete the *Safari Forms Autofill* keychain.
Relaunch Safari.

I continually get this message: The TM could not complete backup. The backup image "/Volumes/Data/....'s computer_001ec21b890f.sparsebundle" could not be accessed (error 1).?
Have you looked through Pondini's extensive TM help site?

OS X not remembering network username and password
I have had this problem since starting at my current office. (Over 16 months.) I inherited a computer from a previous staff person. Each of my computers have been Macs. (3 different computers in 16 months.) We are mostly a Mac computer office but our Active Directory and File Server are both Window PC's. BOOO!
Whenever I try to log in to the file server I get the request for the my network user name and password. The window already has a user name but it's not mine. It is the user name of a previous user of my original computer (From 16 months ago.). I say original computer because I now have my thrid computer which I migrated from the first and second one. I'm sure whatever the problem it is has come along with each migration.
I have looked in my Keychain Access and found the network password item for the file server. When I opened it my username and password are correct.
So... where do I go from here? Thanks for your help.Try deleting it from KeyChain. Also look for any other passwords for other users in the past for this and delete them.
When you log back into the server, password fields should be blank. Put your's in and save it. -
Time Machine works, but when disconnected keeps saying "Could not complete backup"
Running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on a late '08 MBP: While connected to my work's external 1TB drive, TM operates as expected. Every day I disconnect and take it home. Without the TM drive available, every so often I get "TM could not complete the backup."
Suspecting a glitchy .plist, I moved com.apple.timemachine to my desktop and hit "Back Up Now." Evidently now the new plist doesn't recognize the >600GB of TM data logged, as, of course, it shows no previous backups (image attached). I feared that proceeding would mean it would begin an entirely NEW routine—rendering my existing TM useless. So I stopped, replaced the previous plist, and (whew) again TM shows my history.
So it's not a critical issue, but a regular annoyance: why does TM now think it has to tell me every time it didn't work? This started up maybe a week or two ago, and I don't recall any system modifications. I see nothing in the TM prefs that would trigger this.
Any ideas? Thanks.+1
Same issue on Mountain Lion 10.8.5. Extremely annoying to get this dialog box over and over throughout the day.
Time Machine preferences shows "Next backup: When disk is connected". So why doesn't it simply wait until a disk is connected and only alert me then if there is a failure?
OP - did you ever solve this issue?
Thanks,
Lance
