"Could not complete the music store request.."

I had Leopard on my old iBookG4, but, because of slowness, installed Tiger. I've taken all the updates, and tried to sign into iTunes, but just get the above message. It worked before I made the change, and I can get to it on my iMac.
What do I need to do to get to the store on my iBook?
Also, it is only at iTunes 6. Shouldn't there be updates for it?
Thanks!

Maren, I won't rule out the update, but I have seen the servers for the store get overloaded/bogged down during high volumes times where it may take as much as a day before you can get in. I know this doesn't help a lot, but be just a little more patient.

  • Error - Could not complete the music store request, the store may be busy .

I get the error "Could not complete the music store request, the store may be busy, check your internet connection or try again later." I have uninstalled and reinstalled,Tried on and off with the firewall, tossed the prefs, tried older and latest versions. It used to work but it hasn't worked in the last few days.
      Windows XP Pro

I found the problem to the iTunes Music Store connectivity. When iTunes version 6 is installed, it places a configuration / preferences file in the following location:
    "C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref"
This file contains several very large keys:
    Preferences:129= (41,826 characters in length)
Music Store= (1,722 Characters in length)
Somewhere in these keys is stored are references to userid's, connections or other TCP/IP / internet connectivity objects that are being used when iTunes is installed. By deleting this file, these old setting appear to be cleared out.
In my case, one or more of the keys in this file appear to have been storing a property from my old dial-up ISP connection that was no longer valid for my new, Comcast cable modem connection.
Once I deleted this file, and re-started iTunes, it was as if I had never run the software before. I bypassed the option for searching for and importing .mp4's from My Music, and Itunes opened correctly, with full access to the music store. My library and playlists were intact and all is well.
Apple should re-write the protion of iTunes codes that stores anything pertaning to an internet connection that may change over time. Alternatively, iTunes should either A) Prompt for this information B) Enable user access to this parameter in a settings dialog C) Access this information dynamically at runtime.

  • Itunes Could Not complete the music store request, the store may be busy,

I get the error "Could Not complete the music store request, the store may be busy, check your internet connection or try again later." I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I have complete firewall access to it and I have no clue what is wrong with it. It used to always work but it hasn't worked at all in the last several months.

are you getting an error message number with that message? (i was thinking that the message itself looked a bit like the message that comes with the -50.)

  • "Could not complete the iTunes store request..."

I'm having the same TYPE of issues everyone else seems to be having, but with this message:
"Could not complete the iTunes store request. The store may be busy. Check your internet connection or try again later"
    and it ONLY occurs at:
    1) iTunes HOME page
    2) Browsing Music Videos
all other iTunes pages work. What is going on? I thought Apple beat Microsoft when it came to usability, but this really stinks! I've run diagnostics and iTunes has NO problem seeing that I have a working internet connection!
Anyone else have this exact problem and have suggestions?

I am getting this excact same error message, except for me no page will load except for the Account Settings page. I've tried nearly everything short of reformatting, I have the latest version of iTunes, I used the Repair Disk Permissions tool, verified my KeyChain, checked my firewalls.
However, I have found a detour around this problem. If you use the Browse feature (the little eye icon next to the Eject botton) when the iTunes tab is open, you can find artists, however, the Popularity ratings don't seem to work

  • We could not complete your Music Store request.  There is not enough memory

I have been using iTunes successfully on my PC, Mac Mini and MacBook Pro. I upgraded to the latest iTunes on my MacBook and Mini and then bought an album. iTunes on my MacBook asked me to authorize the computer (which it was already, weird). When I tried to do this, I got the following error:
We could not complete your Music Store request. There is not enough memory available.
There was an error in the Music Store. Please try again later.
Every time I try to authorize after getting this message, my authorization number goes down from 5 to 0. What gives? This was working yesterday.

I have this same problem. It's like it is not Authorizing this Mac.
What happens when you try to listen to a preview on the Music Store?
Mine asks me to authorize again and gives me the error exactly as you said above.
What happens when you try to view your account information (in Music Store, click on your account name in the top right corner)?
Mine lets me authorize sucessfully and shows me my account information.
I have emailed iTunes support about this and they replied with a generic answer about Deauthorizing and re-authorizing the computer.
I even tried, to no avail, the tips here...

It's been like this for an hour. Is the store down or are there firewall ports i need to open?
edit: I was able to download the iPhone firmware upgrade, but still unable to activate.

Figured it out. You have to turn off any Webservers on port 80 and restart iTunes. Then it will work.

  • Could not complete the itunes store request. the store may be busy check ..

I am trying to activate an Iphone (UK) and get the message:-
could not complete the itunes store request. the store may be busy check your internet connection.
No matter what I do, turn the firewall off, allow cookies...
Can anyone help?????????????? I've being trying for hours

Are you using a USB hub? If so, try connecting directly to the USB port. This may help. Also, make sure you've got a USB 2.0 and not 1.1. If none of this helps, try reinstalling iTunes.
    Hope this helps.

  • Could not complete the iTunes Store Request (for iTunes Plus)

Since the announcement yesterday of the expanded iTunes plus library and the price reduction, I'm finding that if I click on iTunes Plus I always get the 'could not complete' message. Plus, many iTunes plus songs are still showing at 99p, only a few I've found are 79p.
I'm really surprised nobody else has reported this - is it just me?

No it's not just you, I haven't been able to access iTunes Plus either.
I assumed they were busy upgrading that section of the store but it's taking its time and if that was the case then there ought to be a more informative error message.

  • (!) Could not complete the iTunes Store request. The story may be busy.

on the opening page in iTunes for activating the iPhone, this is the error I get on pressing the first "Continue" button. I have verified I have an Internet connection and I can get on the iTunes music store. Is it Apple or me?

Had the exact same problem. There is another button you can push besides continue, I believe it was info or something like that. That screen kept saying that my Activation Session had timed out. Apples solution said it was a Date/Time issue and time zone issue on my PC. Even though that information was correct in windows, I went in and changed the date/time and time zone to something completely wrong and saved it. Then went back in and changed it back to the correct information and saved it. then I launched Itunes and everything worked fine after that. Activated in like 2 minutes.
